A valuable addition to any medievalist compendium. Great collection of excerpts from primary sources. Indeed an excellent way to get your feet wet with the perspectives, passions, and processes of medieval livelihood. I will always cherish this book, and I would very much recommend it as a textbook for late antiquity, medieval, and renaissance courses.

Read it in a medieval studies class. An excellent resource of translated original material pertaining to the period. Of course, most of the readings are excerpts from writings, but they are excellent for getting your feet wet and getting an overview perspective of medieval history.
