C.T. Ferguson has a case. Just one. It's how he works. Then devastating personal news leaves him shattered.

"Edge of your seat"

I'm a newcomer to this series. Strong characters, page-turning action, edge of your seat tension. What more do you need in a thriller? Recommended.

The C.T. Ferguson Series:
The Reluctant Detective #1 – This is my first read by this author and I like it. This story fits into one of my all-time favorite genres with plenty of humor, action and investigations. The storylines are good and realistic, and I like that the PI is a privileged person instead of a Mickey Spillane stereotype. C.T. also has an interesting past that plays a large part in this introduction. Add in his parents, his older police Detective cousin and a good supporting cast, which all make it difficult to put the book down. The pace is steady without any boring bits. This is one of the better edited books I’ve seen from an Indie author. 4*

The Unknown Devil #2 - Another difficult to put down fast paced pages full of intrigue, suspense and action. Unfortunately, this is my fourth read, instead of my second, but that did not detract from the meshing of previous storylines with the current lines. This book is well thought out in plot and character development along with realistic dialogues, realistic fight scenes and a smart mouthed character full of himself with plenty of good humor. There is infrequent use of vulgar language considering the criminal elements involved. Interesting information about the hacking of cellphones and other electronics. There is a bit too much detailing of insignificant information: clothing; cooking; etc., but still a worthy read. 4*

The Workers of Iniquity #3 - Even with the relaxed pace, this is another hard to put down book. There are multiple storylines happening and if that is not enough to hold your interest, here are a few more added. The characters are interesting and they have good dialogues and work in their roles. C. T. has been a PI for almost a year at this point. The solutions and the way problems are handled are entertaining; some have a good revenge edge and others bring rewards. The crime topics are more than loan sharking. 4*

Already Guilty #4 – I could not put this book down. Well written, fasted paced, and intriguing with great storylines and characters, a real page-turner. Bits reminded me of Lithgow and Denzel’s revenge movie, but the author does well making this his work. There are plenty of good characters, old and new, and the storylines merge well with the story’s plot and the past books. Of course, there is always something or someone to mess up the flow, but that is what makes the series interesting. C.T. is C.T. and you cannot help but respect him and his efforts, and he has a hard row to hoe this time with his special case. I do not know how the previous books flowed since I have only read the first of this series. 5*

Daughters and Sons #5 - I enjoy reading this series. Even though I have not read all of them, I have not missed anything due to the author's talent for storytelling. The past is not thrown at the reader to figure out or reminisce over. C.T. continues to develop as more of his personality appears. He has good supporting characters, which is perfect to go along with the intriguing and interesting storylines. There is enough detail to make the reader a fly on the wall without the Hollywood dramatics or the usual stupidity found in this genre. Realistic with storylines, dialog and actions while immersed with good humor and quite a bit of smart mouth from C.T. 5*

A March From Innocence #6 - This story picks up a couple of weeks after Daughters ended. Well thought out storylines; good action scenes; intelligent dialogues; well developed characters on both sides of the law; and good humor with some romance. Clean but the topic is disgusting. Young children. Older men. Add some interesting ways that C. T. handles things makes this a difficult book to put down. 5*

Inside Cut #7 - Oh, dear. My first C. T. book that did not work for me. It felt incomplete, like not everything was there, no enthusiasm on Mr. Fowler's end. True, I do not care much for college sports so the topic was not my cup of tea. I did like a past method coming to play; never think if something (or someone) is outdated that it cannot work in the present or future. Lack of education and experience is easy to beat. The storylines dragged a bit for me but the characters were good, like always. I disagree with the outcome on Eddie, the old family friend should have his due. Although, the way the storyline went on involving Bruno in the first place did not work for me. C. T. came through and did his usual good work helping others and correcting the outcome of an uncovered crime. While this story is not on par with the others in this series, it is still an OK read. 3*

The Next Girl #8 - C. T. is back again with new storylines that move at a fast pace through the frustrations, the investigations and the pain of his newest case. Well thought out and vividly told, this is a difficult story to put down. The new characters run the gamut while the old do their jobs. It is easy to figure out the who and the why, but it is still an interesting, intriguing read. 5*

Dead Cat Bounce #11 - I missed a few books in this series but it was easy to get back in the groove. While I think some of the previous books were better, which may be due to the missing books gap, this story is still a good read. Interesting. Good storylines and good characters. TJ is a good addition to the mix. It was easy to finish the book without interruptions. 4*

Don't Say Her Name, C.T. Ferguson #12 - This is one of my favorite characters and series. There is plenty of interesting characters, an interesting writing style and interesting story lines. It is best to start with the first book since there is a continuous building of new onto the old, BUT it is not necessary. Fortunately, Fowler does not rehash the past in great detail in his books, he keeps the present book interesting. There is action, romance and humor. Language is mostly clean; a very minimum on the vulgar, which is character-related. The romance is clean without the stupid arguments and ridiculous mind sets that other authors add for drama, but mischievous and adult dialog between the two lovers. There is the mysterious disappearance of a client's father but C.T. has to figure out the who of why he and his family are targets. Another in one sitting read. 5*

Night Comes Down, C.T. Ferguson #13 - Interesting. I like that this book is about hacking and revenge. Well written with interesting story lines, a good blending of old and new, along with some intense bits made this another hard to put down read. 5*

Concrete Angels, #14 - Pretty interesting with a bigger role in the narration and duties for TJ. The good story lines kept me involved in the book and some of the characters are doozies. 5*

Novellas:
Hong Kong Dangerous, prequel - This is an interesting introduction to C.T. and his cousin Rick. The events in this short, quickly read novella lays the path to C. T. becoming PI. C.T. is in HK hacking and being a nuisance to the Chinese government. He and his cohorts are arrested and C.T. finds himself in prison. Rick is a sergeant in the Bmore police force working hard to become a detective. A few of the other repeat characters are mentioned but not in detail. 4*

3.5 Red City Blues - This is an interesting read perfect for quick getaway. The timeline is a year after he starts his PI business. A basic well told story with none of the usual detailed cooking or running scenes. 4*
The C.T. Ferguson Series end.

This is the latest book in the C.T. Ferguson Private Investigator Mystery series and has C.T. been asked by his friend Rollins, to help him in a case of a stalker for a prostitute called Ruby, who asked him for help. He asks C.T. to help him cover some of the working schedule of the lady. As he starts to investigate her story of a stalker, he gets news of a family secret that has been kept from him for years. This leads to a cold case, over thirteen years old, which overtakes his life.

He puts everything aside, even his increasing relationship with Gloria, and ignores his friend Rollins’ request for more help with Ruby’s case. Even his cousin Rich, an actual police detective, struggles to get him to relax his grip on this newest case and to take his time, not to burn himself out. The case is thirteen years old already and the victim isn’t going anywhere, but this case is too personal for C.T., he can’t stop. If anyone could solve such a cold case, then it would be C.T. He is asked to ensure he does no illegal hacking to try and solve the case and to also include other law enforcement agencies to help him in the investigation.

Whether he can put some effort back into his original case, right when it seems to be getting dangerous for Ruby, will depend on what his conscious allows. The cases link to a possible serial killer, the difficulty of family relations, from the seediest parts of Baltimore, all the way up to one of the rich and most powerful families in the city. Another look at what can happen when secrets are hidden within families. Some powerful surprises in this book, both for C.T. personally and also in his approach to cases. He has to learn how far he would personally go, in terms of taking the law into his own hands. He has killed in self-defence of himself or friends, but could he do it in cold blood?

Another fantastic read, the best one yet! Instead of C.T. having just one case to manage, he had a puzzle of a very personal manner to deal with as well. A secret that has been kept from him, by those closest to him. Family are important, but some have secrets for whatever reason and some are dysfunctional and cause tremendous harm. The storyline is always intense in parts, light-hearted in others, with a list of mouth-watering meals shared or eaten alone, a good bit of cyber-hacking and bending the law as usual. Each book builds on what you already know about the main characters and thus adds to the enjoyment of reading each one. Can’t wait to see what sort of case C.T. deals with next. I received an ARC copy of this book from the author and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Brick Oven Pizza (Fells Point). PI Coningsby “C.T.” Ferguson (licensed, hacker) took Gloria (GF) out for pizza/drinks.
CareFirst building. Rollins was at the doorstep when the 2 returned.
Ruby (hooker) hired Rollins to look after her.
He was going to pass on his client to PI Ferguson.
She frequents Erdman (strip clubs) on WE & Moravia Park Dr. (truck stops) during the week.

PI Ferguson finally found Ruby.
They ate/talked at the Happy Day Diner.
Crazy John’s bar. PI Ferguson made a few inquiries.
Gloria took PI Ferguson to a fund raiser.
He got to meet Vincent Davenport (Nightlight Foundation chairman).
PI Ferguson was also trying to find out who killed his niece, Samantha.

Melinda was having sex with her stepbrother.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

An awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very professionally written PI thriller book. It was amazingly easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great PI thriller movie, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a quite easy rating of 5 stars.

Thank you for the free author; eBooksDaily; Amazon Digital Services LLC.; book

CT Ferguson is a PI who helps people for free, but it does have a cost to him personally. He's taken a lot of bruises, many broken bones, some hits to the ego, and a gunshot wound or two.

He has been forced to killed, either in self defense, or to save the life of another, but he's not a stone cold killer.

He had started a case to help a prostitute with a stalker problem, when another case found him - a very personal one. His parents had told him the death of his sister when he was sixteen was due to a heart defect - sadly very much not true.

This book unravels how CT deals with the truth of his sister's case, and finding the man behind her death. It details how he helps the hooker find and unwind the connections and troubles with her family that led to her career path, that might lead to a new beginning for her, and for at least some of her remaining family.

It is also the story of how CT himself unravels, faced with sad and horrible facts about the death of his sister, and the damage his relationship with his parents suffers.

I have heard it said that there is no growth without pain - CT garners ore than his fair share of pain in this story - enough to foster hectares of growth.

True to his characters in the other CT Ferguson books, CT does what he can to find his own brand of justice, and hold onto his own tattered self: a battered and tarnished hero / fighter for the underdog.

Love for his sister might move him to seek justice for her death, yet it might also move him to try to prevent his own death.

An awesome KU read!

I really like the C T Ferguson series, he is a great character, albeit rather annoying with his huge ego and entrenched opinions about food, fashion, cars and really just about everything else! but somehow he is still rather engaging and fun, and his heart is definitely in the right place..
This book is a little darker than the others in the series as it deals with C T investigating a major personal loss, and so we see a more vengeful side of his personality, at the same time he is trying to help a young woman who is living in the dark underbelly of Baltimore society. Despite this darker aspect, the book still contains some great humorous 'one liners' from C T.
I really like the little details which make the story realistic and believable, both in terms of location descriptions, and also character actions.
For me this is the best book in the series as it reveals a different side to C T, but also has the usual clever plot and some well written action sequences. As with all the novels/novellas in this series it can very easily be read as a stand-alone story, but is more rewarding if the previous stories have been read.
I received an advance copy of this book, but have voluntarily written this honest review.

Another exciting read featuring the irrepressible C.T. Ferguson. If you’ve not read a C.T. Ferguson book before then this is not a bad place to start. Each book in the series works alone, this one included, but I like the pay off you get for having read them all. This story is far more personal than any of the others for C.T. He learns a shocking truth that sends him investigating a years old crime. I won’t go further with the story and spoil it. C.T. is at his wise cracking best and, as always, if pushed too far he’s willing to use his considerable fighting skills. There’s also a tougher darker edge to him this time around with his case hitting close to home. As a side note don’t read this when you’re hungry because C.T. is a man who likes good food and it seems most of his information comes at a price of buying people lunch. Either that or he’s cooking and all the wonderful description of the things he’s enjoying made me ravenous!

I absolutely loved this book!!! C.T. Ferguson is a private investigator that takes cases on a pro bono basis. Sometimes his methods are somewhat "shady" but he always successfully solves his cases. C.T. has a wide circle of friends and acquaintances that are always willing to lend him a helpful hand as he works on his cases. Each of these likable characters have specific skills or knowledge that C.T. utilizes as he resolves his cases. In this book C.T. is already working on a case when he is given heartbreaking news about the death of someone close to him that occurred during his teenage years. He is devastated and angry that the truth had been hidden from him for 13 years and he's determined to find and punish the person responsible. Between the two cases, it's nonstop action for C.T. and the reader. This is my favorite book of the series so far and I look forward to the next adventure of C.T.'s. I received an ARC from the author for a honest review.

This is a strong story teller, keeps your pages turning long into the night.

PI, CT Ferguson has just found out that his sister who died 13 years ago was murdered. His parents knew it but kept it from him because they didn't want to upset him. Now he is very upset, and goes home and starts hunting for clues about a 13 year old cold case.

While he is unsuccessfully trying to find out the facts of her murder. Aa friend calls asking him for help with a prostitute who feels she is being stalked. This prostitute is called Ruby and refuses to give any more information than this.

As he becomes involved in both cases, he has altercations with people who want him beat up. He finds out who the stalker is. He finds out who Ruby is. Question, does he ever figure out who killed his sister. Buy the book. You won't be able to stop until you know the answers.

The new C.T. Ferguson book, Daughters and Sons is one of the most exciting mysteries/thrillers that I have read in the last couple of months. Mr. Fowler is a talented author. The story is so well written that I became engrossed in the book and had a hard time putting it down. Unlike most of his other cases, C.T.Ferguson finds himself personally and emotionally involved with a 13 year old cold case. Rage, pain, confusion, aggravation, and frustration explode from the pages. Even Gloria, C.T.’s girlfriend, is unable to sidetrack him for long. The plot twists and turns, going from one case to the other. I really enjoyed reading this book. I think that anyone who reads James Patterson, Lee Child, Michael Connolly and/or Stewart Woods would enjoy reading Daughters and Sons.

There is enough detail to make the reader a fly on the wall without the Hollywood dramatics or the usual stupidity found in this genre. A March From Innocence #6 - This story picks up a couple of weeks after Daughters ended. Well thought out storylines; good action scenes; intelligent dialogues; well developed characters on both sides of the law; and good humor with some romance. Clean but the topic is disgusting. C.T. Ferguson is a PI in Baltimore. He comes from a wealthy family, and he has served in rhe military. Liked the fact he was willing to help people. He gets a call about catching a stalker for a prostitute named Ruby. He starts this case with back up from another former military man.
Then he discovers that the sister he idolized, died 13 years ago but not from heart problem but from a vicious stabbing. Fast paced action and C.T. has friends, including the head of the Baltimore crime family -- talk about networking. So two difficult cases that C.T. solves with help from his computer hacking expertise.

Just when I thought this author couldn’t top his last book he proved me wrong.

This book is more emotional for his protagonist, CT. So it has a slightly different feel than the rest of the series. The characters are more emotionally accessible and there are actually two storylines that intersect but remain apart.

CT is busy working a case when he hears devastating news from his parents. How he deals with this news and the change it brings to his relationship with his mom and dad are the meat of the story.

I found this oddly boring. I didn't care for the main character C.T., and his rather perfect, and terribly "understanding" girlfriend. He finds his sister's killer on the slimmest of hunches when all the other detectives that worked the case like crazy came up empty handed - it was just so unexpected and unlikely. As for the other story - the "hooker" Ruby, which showed promise - even that ended up kind of flat. Sure there are some action scenes but they're anti-climactic and felt more like filler or an after-thought. This just wasn't my cuppa. I wanted something noirish but this wasn't it.

Definitely one of the best for C. T. Ferguson. He frantically works two cases, and one is very personal and emotional for him. The regular characters are back, and we meet some new ones. C.T. goes over many lines as he brings both cases to surprising finishes. The style of writing makes for easy reading, and the descriptions for the greater Baltimore area are spot on. Ferguson is just different enough from the usual P.I. to make for a great reading experience.

As lighthearted as C.T. usually is, this is not him. Tom Fowler has outdone himself with this 5th book. I've read them all and have enjoyed them all, but this hits his main character so deeply that his personality takes a big hit. I feel it was his best novel to date in this series. If you haven't read any of these books yet, do yourself a favor and start. If you've already been a fan, you're in for a treat

CT is asked to help a friend who is a prostitute. Then he finds out from his parents that his sister did not die as he was to believe was was kidnapped. He refused to talk to his parents and with his head in the "mud" his thought processes where a scramble. However, events started to unfold and he needed to get back into his old form in order to be effective. Still plenty of humor and a good read.

C.T.Ferguson is a unique and interesting person, he takes cases for free. The cost on him personally is huge, broken bones, to even killing, to working non stop to figure out and solve. A friend needs help on a case, a prostitute has a stalker. A family secret hits him hard, devastated a 13 old cold case. There is humor, his personal life with Gloria, all is put to the side. Another good plot to the end, with more of C.T.

Love this series. Can't put these books down. One suggestion, if you're hungry, eat first. I have the distinct feeling that Mr. Fowler is quite the food connoisseur. Frequently, delightful food is described in great detail; both recipes and eating. It's refreshing to read novels where editing is taken seriously. Like the main character; very well developed. Highly recommend all books in this series.

The crusade of C.T. Ferguson to discover the murderer of his sister thirteen years before, took me to one of my other favourite novelists: Blake Banner with his saga "Dead Cold Mysteries".
Obviously, the procedures are very different, and also the parallel cases which disturbed C.T. life.
I was very happy when C.T. put his parents off for the whole development of the plot. What they did to him was a shame.

Vengeance

CT Ferguson is a rare breed, an enigma - one hand aggressive, with no compassion for the guilty. On the other hand he will stand strong for the victims. This story gave us all sides of CT Ferguson. One of my best reads so far. Tom Fowler books just keep on getting better everything, both his CT Ferguson books and also his John Tyler books. Well done Tom really well done.

This series just keeps getting better and better. C.T. is on the case as usual, only this time he is working two cases. One of them is really personal. The writing is fast paced and witty. I do not want to give the story away, but take my word for it. This is a must read! I received an advance copy in return for my honest review.

The series keeps getting better

The title and description of this one made it sound like it was going to be serious. It was.C.T. set himself on a Path of Revenge and and we never sure how that was going to end. Along the way he solved a particularly complicated situation in another family. This was a terrific addition to the series.

A 13--year-old cold case but this case is personal to C.T.
The author has presented the protagonist, C.T. Ferguson, with a case the police had given up on many years previously. Will C.T. Be able to use his computer skills and maybe a bit of shoe leather to find some answers? And what about any other clients he may have? An exciting and gripping read. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed

C.T. always keeps me interested and turning the pages to see what is going to happen next. The characters that he keeps in circle make his adventures entertaining. He has a great girlfriend with an interesting living situation. There are always twists, turns and a few surprises before he solves the mystery. I look forward to following C.T. on another adventure.

Enjoyed the book.

Liked the characters and of course our lovable P.I. The plot thickens with the discord between C.T. and his parents. Things will probably progress in the following novel. I also enjoyed the previous novel. I have found this author to provide a very nice read. Give him a chance you just might agree with me.

This book was OK. It was very detailed. I didn't, however, think it was necessary to tell how he prepared his food in such detail of what he had to eat when eating out. I do understand his anger at his parents for not telling him the truth about his sister's death but they were trying to protect him.
