I don't know about you, but I started praying for my son and our parenting of him when we found out we were expecting. My son is a teenager now and I continue to pray every day for him. I think he needs those prayers now more than ever. Rob and Joanna Teigen have a new book, Powerful Prayers for Your Son, that can guide parents through prayer in all sorts of situations through the year5s as your son grows up and even in to adulthood.
Powerful Prayers for Your Son starts off with an introductory word from Joanna and one from Rob. In these short pages, they introduce themselves and share how this book came about. Following the introduction, there are 77 prayers through the book--prayers that cover your son through all sorts of life situations through the ages and stages of your boy. A few examples of the many prayers included in the book are: when he is looking for God, when he is stressed, when his faith is shaken, when he goes online, when he considers dating, when he is attacked by the enemy, when he has a negative attitude, and when you don't know what to pray. In the midst of the prayers are several real-life prayer stories from other Christians that are uplifting and encouraging reminders that God does hear us as we pray for own sons.
I know Powerful Prayers for Your Son is a book that I will keep on my Bible study shelf for years to come. If I had a daughter, I would also buy their book, Powerful Prayers for Your Daughter. I like how complete the book is in covering so many situations and topics children face in today's world. I also like that there are some uplifting stories of answered prayer interspersed throughout the book from other real parents facing challenges that have overcome or made it through the challenges with prayer. I also like how each prayer is preceded with Scripture to read before you start praying. I would encourage all parents to get a copy of Powerful Prayers as they parent their children. It kind of feels like someone pulling up alongside you and guiding you through some of the difficulties as you keep your face towards God.

This book includes 77 different sections of prayer topics. Each topic like "When He's Angry" includes a couple scriptures to read and then a prayer to God about that specific topic. There are also different stories throughout this book.
As a mom to 2 boys, I enjoyed reading this book and all the different scriptures and prayers. I especially liked the beginning 2 sections from the authors as to the reason they wrote this book and their journey with their own children. I could tell they were very passionate and prayerful with writing this book.

A must have book for parents. I don't say that lightly, as a mom of adult children now, there is value in these pages for how to pray specifically for your children. I appreciate the time the authors took in gathering the vast issues facing our children and bringing Scripture to those issues as a way to jumpstart our prayers over them.
The stories interspersed throughout help encourage parents as they grow through the different seasons in their child's life, though I wish there were a bit more, even small segments at the end of each prayer, but that would probably make this book much thicker.
Overall, this book of prayers is a great tool to add to any parent's prayer time and though the topics can be limited to younger kids, I've found value in them as a jumping point for my kids who've just entered adulthood. Never stop praying.

As a mom, there are days when everyone is off to school and work and I'm delivering laundry to empty rooms upstairs. I feel the nudge to pause, to find my knees beside each bed and lift the absent occupant to the Father. I scan their rooms, my mind sifting through the struggles and joys of each of their hearts.
Sometimes, thoughts and prayers roll off easily. Other days my mind feels blank. It is not uncommon for me to ask His Spirit to form words on my behalf when I can't begin to know what my loved ones need most.
A huge answer came recently in the form of partner releases from Revell Books: "Powerful Prayers for Your Daughter" and "Powerful Prayers for Your Son," by Rob & Joanna Teigen. These scripturally based prayers are specific to various situations, phases of growth or changing needs. They are intermingled with touching and timely "prayer stories," real and raw testimonies of the power of prayer experienced by families just like ours.
For our daughter who will step bravely into adulthood soon, turning 18 and graduating from high school in the next year, these few prayers caught my eye:
When she needs wisdom
When she's worried
When she needs to work hard
When she's choosing her words
When she's lonely
When she needs rest (junior year is no joke!)
When she needs a mentor
For our son, just a few years behind her, and navigating his own unique joys and challenges, these few prayers gave words to my heart:
When he's afraid
When he's looking for GOD
When he needs wisdom or courage
When he's bored
When he's one of a kind
When I don't know what to pray
For both, I especially lift these earnest cries for their hearts:
"Keep my daughter from becoming devoted to lesser things. Turn my daughter's heart to You. Reveal Yourself so she can see Your power. Give her faith to believe You are her Creator, deserving all her worship and praise! ... May You be as real as anyone she can see face to face. Keep her close to You forever." (page 173, "When she needs to love GOD with all her heart")
"Give my son a heart that seeks Your will for his life. ... Fill my son with devotion to You. May he offer his life and dreams fully to Your control. (page 62) ... Write Your Word on his heart and mind. Keep my son from settling for an easy, shallow relationship with You. Let him wrestle with belief and trust until he makes his faith his own. Keep him close to You every day." (page 157, "When he needs to stay close to GOD")
In their purest form, I believe our best prayers for our kids are authentically and spontaneously inspired by His Spirit, offered unplanned and unrehearsed. But I also believe there is a sweet time and space for praying the words of another, and definitely GOD's own Words in scripture, as we lift our loved ones to the Father.
I am grateful to Rob & Joanna Teigen and the way these two books have tuned my own heart to the deepest needs of my daughter and son, to honor GOD in how I pray for them and what I speak into their lives each day. The "real-time" stories from other parents assure me I am not alone in desiring the LORD's best for my soon-to-be adult children, rejoicing in the growth and promise I can see, or feeling anxious about the areas of concern I also notice.
What a joy to leave our children in the care of the One who created them, the One who redeemed them, the One who pursues their hearts more passionately and faithfully than I ever could! And how positively challenging to be reminded that prayer is POWERFUL!
"All I know for sure is that he (she) needs You. Thank You for the gift of prayer." (page 192, "Powerful Prayers for Your Son")
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to GOD. And the peace that passes all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ JESUS. Philippians 4:6-7

Although I have no sons, I wanted to review this book. As an analyst, I was fascinated with how much prayers would be different for boys versus girls. So after I reviewed the book for daughters, I naturally was interested in the book for sons.
I was not disappointed! The books could not be any more different. Yes, the format is the same. Prayers are topic based and there are prayer stories and anecdotes dotted throughout the book, but the substance of the prayers are specific to boys. Even the topics that all children face look different from the child’s perspective. Boys and girls may struggle with the same topic, but they struggle with different aspects of it. These books do a great job of making prayers specific to how the child is viewing it.
God tells us that we are to teach our children. However, every parent will tell you, it takes more than what we can do on our own. God’s guidance in the children’s life is what is needed.
What I love about this book is that it is tailored specifically to what boys go through as well as things that all of us go through. Things like having courage, the boy-side of dating/marriage, being a good leader, and more.
The prayers are very specific. They pray over the child as well as petition God for help with parenting the issue. The focus is truly about inserting God into every part of the situation. It’s not just about changing the son’s behavior, but also about changing the parent. This is so that God can be glorified and his will to be accomplished.
In addition to that, scripture is included before the prayer so that the reader can see that the prayer is Biblically sound. This is one of my favorite parts!
Periodically, there are excerpts in the book that have a little anecdote and/or story about things to think about. For instance, there’s an insert about a boy’s relationship with his mom. or a story about how the author’s prayer about something was answered. These are great additions to uplift and/or focus you on how God answers prayer.
When I received these books, I didn’t have high hopes for them. I thought they would be very generic. However, I am very impressed. The prayers are scriptural, they cover all aspects of the situation, and they bring everything back to God’s glory and His will. I couldn’t be happier with these prayer books. It truly brings the essence of scripture into prayer life in order to bring all parts of the situation under God’s guidance.
I highly recommend this book to parents of sons.

My Review:
The hardest things to do is to let our children grow up and move on without mom and dad smack dab in the middle of our kids craziness. But the truth is and always will be, that we have to let go no matter how hard it may be. I know my son is about to graduate high school and our husband and I are having a hard time allowing him to decide what to do with the rest of his life. My husband is frustrated and I am in tears, because we want our children to go further in life than we ever did. Parents definitely see the bigger picture because we have already been their age and know what they clearly don't, yet.
Powerful Prayers for Your Son, is the perfect book for situations just like this. God knows how troubling and how hard "letting children go", can be. After all, He has had to do the same with us, didn't He? Powerful Prayers for Your Son, tries to nail down each and every situation we could possibly have with our sons and addresses it through prayer, scripture, and counseling so that we can attack the enemy where it hurts most. We are after all, fighting for our sons' life here. Many times that will take a parent on their knees at every turn.

A wonderful tool for all parents of boys as they grow and go through the difficult times life will throw their way.
As parents we always want to pray for our kids. Sometimes finding the right prayer can be difficult. Rob and Joanna Teigen write that even when we as parents don’t understand our son doesn’t mean God doesn’t understand what they are going through and what they need. This book offers prayers for many different situations and even stories from parents going through hard times, how they prayed for their kids and what God did to answer those prayers. Also included are sections that explain what is important for boys to learn as they grow and how parents can pray for the lives of their children
I absolutely loved reading this book. I have two young boys and constantly want to pray the right things for them. In the day and age, we are living in a time when there is so much bad in the world that our kids are exposed to, we need to be on guard and pray constantly. I loved the areas with Prayer Stories that gave good examples of what some parents have gone through and how they prayed for their son and how God answered those prayers, even if it wasn’t exactly what they prayed for. Even when we don’t know the right words to pray for our children, if we will call out to God He will answer our prayers in the way He knows is right; it may not always be what we think is right but later if we look back we will see how right it truly is. Certain sections really resonated with me as I see my son going through those tough times and wonder if I am doing enough for him and want him to seek God and hope I am setting the right example. The payers don’t have to be long, they are just enough to say what is on the heart, that we love our children and truly want what is best for them. I recommend this book to parents of kids young and old. We should never stop praying for our kids and can always use more resources to add to our arsenal for them.

This is a fantastic book with prayers to pray over you son, no matter the age. The topics covered are relevant for today, including things like “When He’s Rebellious, “ When He’s In the Wrong Crowd,” and “When He’s Managing His Money.” What I liked most is that at the end of each section, there was a testimony or a short story about a real dad or mom and the relationship they have with their son. This book can be read from cover to cover or it can also be used as a tool to pray for specific things that your child is going through since there is a comprehensive table of contents. Each prayer starts with a Scripture and then there is the prayer, a heartfelt cry to God for help raising a young man in today’s world. Parents of sons will want to get this book and keep it handy because it will definitely be a tool to use as your child gets older and more independent.

This book is a collection of seventy-seven prayers and is meant to offer heartfelt encouragement and inspiration to parents as they pray for their son through different circumstances and events. A table of contents is available that lists each of the prayers. This is a convenient feature that allows the reader to flip to a prayer topic that highlights a specific need or concern. One of the other features that I especially appreciate is that each prayer is also accompanied by relevant scripture taken right from the Bible. I find that it's so important to also recite Bible verses whenever I'm in deep prayer, and this book helps to conveniently lay several scripture references out for readers, so they can just open and go.
There are several sections that also share stories from other parents and how their prayers have been answered for their own children. I enjoy the depth of the prayers, which are all heartfelt and spirit-filled. No matter the situation that your son is going through, whether he is afraid, needs wisdom, is being tempted, or is seeking the courage to stand steadfast in his walk with God, there is sure to be a prayer for his circumstance in this book.

“Powerful Prayers for Your Son” is the second book I have read by Rob and Joanna Teigen, and I was even more blessed by this one. I read “101 Prayers for My Son” a couple of years ago, and enjoyed and appreciated it immensely. When I saw the newly-released “Powerful Prayers for Your Son”, and “Powerful Prayers for Your Daughter”, I knew I wanted to read them, and have not been disappointed in the “Son” version! “Powerful Prayers for Your Son” is like an expanded, fuller version of the pocket-sized book “101 Prayers for My Son” by the same authors.
Full of meaningful and heart-felt prayers, and including encouraging stories and helpful advice, this book is a wonderful companion to Bible study or personal prayer time for the young men in one’s life. Even if you have no personal sons, this book is still excellent to use as a guide in how to pray for any boys or young men you may know. This book covers thoughts and prayers on almost any topic or challenge a young man will face. I will be recommending it to my friends who are parents of sons!

POWERFUL PRAYERS FOR YOUR SON was originally published in 2014 but it is just as valid today. Our sons need our prayers for so many things and the Teigens have made it easy to pray with verses and well thought out prayers for almost every topic imaginable.
For example when my youngest son called feeling so down, I could look up a prayer about encouragement and pray it for him. The Teigens also included scripture passages for those who want to pray scripture, too.
Another son struggles with following the wrong crowd, He made some bad choices. There is a prayer for that, too.
Over 200 pages of prayers for those who want to pray for their son but feel they don't have the right words or feel their prayers aren't good enough (please note they are good enough, God hears everyone not only professional prayers,) .

Powerful Prayers for Your Son: Praying for Every Part of His Life by Rob and Joan Teigen is a book I will have in my prayer corner. This is not a cover to cover read, but a great book full of topics with related scriptures and prayers. I also appreciate the extra testimonials of encouragement and life stories (prayer stories) related to various topics. I do feel like the target is more middle school and beyond. It covers school and life. So although my boys are now transitioning into manhood I still felt like I could adapt the prayers for them but if I had young boys I would not feel that I could adapt as well.
I would recommend this book and if you have daughters there is a counterpart that I would also recommend as they both deal with many of the topics of helping kids grow into godly men and women.

I requested this book because I have three sons, two of which are teenagers. As we're diving into new territory with first jobs, driver's licences, college scouting, and dating, I've upped the intensity of my prayers. Will they make the right choices when Mom and Dad aren't around? Will they stand up for what's right when the pressure is on? Are they taking their relationship with God seriously? I know I'm not alone with these thoughts feelings. So I was delighted when I got the opportunity to read and review this book.
With 77 short prayers, the authors guide readers to the various topics specifically geared to young men. Using their own son's life as an example, they share their expertise, fears, and lessons learned. The book also contains stories from other moms and their testimonies of faith.
This is a book I'll keep on my shelf and come back to offen, I'm sure. I give this book four stars.

Powerful Prayers for You Son by both Rob and Joanna Teigen is a wonderful book. It gives light and meaning to prayer. Each part allowed a deep reflection on oneself when reacting a certain way and how to be patient. This book provided a deep look into how a parent can be all the things their son needs them to be. Loving, kind, forgiving, and patient. Prayer gives a peaceful yet calmness when thinking of one's child. A son deserves all the best things a parent can give and prayers are at the top of that list. By praying for your son, it gives a renewed strength for both parent and child. Overall, I loved how there was a Biblical reflection, quote, and story, as well as a special prayer every step of the way. Every page was filled with prayers. Beautiful book!

Powerful Prayers for Your Son provides thoughtful prayers and corresponding bible verses for numerous situations that our sons face. A few examples are: When he’s angry, when he needs wisdom, when he’s preparing for marriage, and when he doubts his own worth. Our children need us to guide them and pray for them, and this book provides sample prayers we may use that we may not otherwise know how to articulate.
When we pray for our children, God listens, and their spiritual journey will surely profit. A lovely devotional that will strengthen our sons’ faith as well as our own.

I have two boys. They are 8 and 6. Having boys in this day and age is something that is hard to navigate. They always seem to be guilty until proven innocent. I pray that my son's have the heart of David and the trust of Noah as they grown up. I was so excited to get this book. This book includes 77 different sections of prayer topics. Each topic is biblically sound. The authors introduce themselves and goal for the book in the introduction. This book is easy to read and navigate. Sometimes I don't know what to pray. This book gave me helpful hints and tips - and it was like God directed me to the topic I needed to pray for.

Often we just aren’t sure how to verbalize our concerns for our son(s). This book will help parents intercede for the needs of our son(s), and express our concerns to God. Written in an easy to read way, each short section of Powerful Prayers includes scripture and prayer for each need. The subjects that are covered include, but are not limited to, salvation, purity, standing up for what’s right, the future, and handling money.Sprinkled throughout are true stories that will help with the application of a specific subject.
This book is a great tool for parents and I highly recommend it.

I found this book to be wonderful!
I have three daughters, but I found the book to be encouraging and insightful into my daughter's future husbands (who are not yet known!). I like to pray for my daughter's future spouses, and because I don't know who they are or how old they are or anything about them my prayers can feel a little stale and rote... but this book gave me a new boost for praying for them!
For those who have sons, this book can be a vital tool to helping you pray when you don't know what to pray.

This book had unique writing, encouraging and compelling to read with that also had providing a direction for parents that had a son no matter how olds, to help your son to see how importance of his relationship in his own life with God. This book will help the parent faithful in prayer for their son. I wish I had known about these books sooner! These books have comforted more nights than I can count. Reading through these prayers and actively using them have provided me the peace and serenity knowing that God will provide and He works things together for our good. There is literally a prayer for every situation that you will come across with your children. I couldn’t have imagined a better resource for parents. Magnificent!

This is a wonderful book. It’s filled with beautiful prayers and ways to pray for every aspect of your son’s life. I really loved this book which helped me obtain a deeper and more meaningful prayer life for my son.

This book covers every topic you could ever think of when praying for your son. There are 77 unique and special prayers in this book. There are also personal prayer stories throughout to demonstrate how prayer works in real life situations. This would make a great devotional to add to daily Bible study and can be used as a source of help in times of trouble. Every boymom can benefit from reading this book. I really enjoyed it and found a lot of inspiration for my prayer life. Thank you so much to Revell and the authors for the chance to read and review this book!

Two new great books for parents. One book has specialized prayers to pray for your son and the other is geared for daughters. Having been blessed with both a son and a daughter, I have been reading through both books. They have been wonderful to read and are in nice short chapters to read daily. There are verses to go along with each topic. Thank you to Revell for these review copies. Powerful Prayers For Your Son by Rob and Joanna Teigen covers topics related to what a boy experiences in his life. Powerful Prayers For Your Daughter by Rob and Joanna Teigen is done really well to cover issues that girls experience in their lives. I look forward to having these books to pray for my children throughout their lives.
