Mason and Fiona Flynn purchase a section of land adjacent to his sister and her husband's place in Cooke County, Texas. Mason, Bone and Padrino discover a solid gold, pre-Inca effigy with a three pound ruby embedded in it in a small alcove on the property. Padrino and Bone's Peruvian ancestors, the Paracas, brought the statue, along with most of the tribe's treasures to Texas over two-thousand years ago. Can Bone, Loraine, Padrino and Texas Ranger Bodie Hickman find the rest of the treasure in the Brazos canyons? The area will be underneath Possum Kingdom Lake in modern times. Can they fend off the mercenaries sent by an evil archeologist? Who really is Milly, the six year old feral child they find in their trek? BONE'S GOLD - another exciting time-travel story with Bone & Loraine…with an unusual mystery twist.
Ken Farmer didn't write his first full novel until he was sixty-nine years of age. He often wonders what the hell took him so long. At age seventy-nine…he's currently working on novel number thirty-seven. Ken spent thirty years raising cattle and quarter horses in Texas and forty-five years as a professional actor (after a stint in the Marine Corps). Those years gave him a background for storytelling…or as he has been known to say, "I've always been a bit of a bull---t artist, so writing novels kind of came naturally once it occurred to me I could put my stories down on paper." Ken's writing style has been likened to a combination of Louis L'Amour and Terry C. Johnston with an occasional Hitchcockian twist…now that's a combination. In addition to his love for writing fiction, he likes to teach acting, voice-over and writing workshops. His favorite expression is: "Just tell the damn story." Writing has become Ken's second life: he has been a Marine, played collegiate football, been a Texas wildcatter, cattle and horse rancher, professional film and TV actor and director, and now…a novelist. Who knew? Ken Farmer's dialogue flows like a beautiful western river…it's the gold standard…Carole Beers
I bought my paperback directly from TimberCreek Press. Ken Farmer continues his western sci-fi saga in a very imaginative way. And in this book, more than previous books in the Bone series, Farmer mixes the past with the present, often chapter by chapter, in a very entertaining way. And also has an interesting twist of having time-travelers in 1890s talk to their law-enforcement colleagues in 21st century, via cell phone while they are utilizing mystic/magical gems next to an ancient portal connecting the two worlds – same place yet different times. And this guy has to be the smartest marine I know, attributing his inter-century phone comms to Einstein’s theory of relativity. Seriously, great dialogue. Fast pacing, just like the movie screen-plays. And evil bad guys who are definitely challenging opponents to the law-fighters of the old west assisted by their time-travelled brother and sister. My favorite BONE series to date. (Although I have at least three Bone books to catch up.) Back to work marine.
Not my genre. But this author is soooo good. I’m going through the entire series and decided to stop and say, wow. Humor, Wild West, action, philosophy with a twist, intriguing and energetic characters... it just has it all. Start with the first book and just keep going. The writing is entertaining, funny and just down to earth. There is no slow button in his writing. His political jabs are spot on. It’s kind of like sci-fi meets the Wild West, and marries historical fiction... As a native Texan, these five stars are for the entire series. Keep up the good work...

Wow, what a wonderful storyline! Bone and Loraine are sure getting the adventure of a lifetime! Little Milly was a great addition, although so briefly, to the story! I wish you would have kept her around a little longer, but I understood why you had to place her back in the cave. Keep writing, I will keep reading!!!
Awesome, this book will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. A mix of the old west and today. A well written book that will make you want more of these books. Thank you Ken Farmer for a really awesome read.
Enjoyed the story, it was not what I anticipated. Ken Farmer does a good job of describing the characters so I can actually picture them as I read. His blending of historical facts with the story line makes it believable. I recommend reading the entire Bone & Loraine series. Also recommend the Silkie Justice series as well.
