Unbroken: The complete story

Rate this book
A husband gone too soon. A family left in tatters. A hero who sees beauty where others see broken.

Ava Kelley lost more than her husband, so much more, that five years later, the mere memory of it is still paralyzing. After struggling to piece her life back together, a ghost from Ava’s past threatens to haunt her and her son’s future. With everything spiraling out of control, and another painful twist putting their safety on the line, Ava has no choice but to ask Logan Reid for help. The only problem is, Reid doesn’t see a broken widow, and he’s determined to make her see what he does — strong, capable, beautiful woman.

For years, Logan Reid has watched Ava fade away. He’s done. It’s time for him to pull her from the darkness and into the light where she belongs. When Ava and her son’s lives are terrorized, Reid’s all in and wastes no time moving in and taking over. He’s made his intentions clear; he wants forever with the woman he loves and the young boy who owns his heart. All he needs to do is convince Ava to take a chance before it’s too late.

This is our story. How one man can mend the pieces of a broken heart. Turn a bland colorless world into vivid technicolor. Our journey wasn’t easy. Tragedy after tragedy tried to break us. Only, this time, I proved with Reid by my side, I was stronger than ever. I have come full circle— I am UNBROKEN.

First off usually love this author books. Voraciously read most of her novels. This one was a slow go

3.5 stars. MC very gray and FC was a bit OTT whiney. WHAT GROWN ASS WOMAN STOMPS HER FOOT?? Good emotional plot, tugged the heartstrings but lots of sub characters and storyline left open. Not sure if it was intentional for a sequel. Cause man this would need a few to tie up all the loose ends....

OMG, Riley Edwards is an excellent writer! I have read many wonderful stories from her over the years! Unbroken is her penultimate achievement as an author!

I don't no where to begin! Taking calming breaths, inbibing my lush red wine and trying to engage my emotional upheaval, I feel ovewhelmed! This story is magnificant, complex and unrelenting! This Heartbreaking, devastatingly sad and gutwrenching book is hormonally catastrophic! I cried ugly through at least the final 5 chapters! The characters endured earth shattering losses, lifechanging love, developemental epiphanies, heavenly encouragement and undying love!
This review is extremely difficult to render because "the force is strong"! So much happens, so much pain is suffered and yet forever love heals and nurtures the characters, while they are reeling from life altering events that would proven catatonic to many people! Strong men, women and children are heroic in the face of calamity!
An epic journey not to be missed! Truly a great literary achievement! I am stunned by this novel and it will linger long into the nights to follow! Not to be missed! 10 stars at least! Delicious, sexy and an HEA too!

Have recently found Riley Edwards as an author and having liked her other stories, thought I would give this one a go just based on that.
Didn't realise this is part of a much bigger story line.
In and of itself this story has a lot packed into it, but when read in conjunction with the other Collective books, does make a lot more sense.

Hero - strong, patient, determined and just so gosh darn lovable
Heroine - tarnished (not broken), resilient, so gosh darn nice

Ava has been widowed for five years, but continues to build a life for her and her son, Logan has been patiently waiting in the wings for Ava to be ready to move on...Like all great stories we have a catalyst that makes her realise Logan has been there for her and her son and he is someone she can rely on to solve all the many trials she is up against...

Grab you tissue box. If you can read the first chapter without shedding tears you're a tougher person than me. In fact I shed tears several times while reading this great book. Logan Reid, WOW! Brash, dirty-talking, over protective and big hearted. He's finally starting to live his dream with Ava Kelley and her son JJ. He's patiently waited for five years. Ava is giving, caring and loving. She's also stronger and more resilient than she gives herself credit for. As she emerges from the fog of her grief and allows herself to embrace what's right in front of her, Logan. Together the fight outside forces bent on destroying them.

This was a suspenseful, action packed romance filled with marveliys characters. I could not put the book down until I had read every word, sentence and paragraph. Outstanding reading from Riley Edwards!

This book is one of the most emotional and beautiful book I’ve read.
Unbroken ripped my heart out a few times while reading it. It was so heartbreaking. It had me crying ugly tears. But I was also swooning a lot of times.
Ava and Reid’s story was so complex but also so beautiful. They went through so much.
Ava Kelley so strong. One of the strongest female characters I’ve read. It took her a while to get there but when she did, it was beautiful to watch.
Logan Read..my new book boyfriend.
His love for Ava and JJ was so beautiful.
You could feel his love pouring out of the pages. Si beautiful. Every woman should have a Reid in their lives.
Beautifully written and the side characters were amazing. This story will stay with me for a long time.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ STARS!!

Put together

Ava and Logan Reid. A heartbreaking start leads to major changes and a new journey. Love found through many years of support and friendship. Ava finds herself in trouble from unknown causes and Reid, plus many others, quickly respond. The story is detailed and full of great colorful characters, action and emotions. I do wonder if the other characters get a story and if/how the serial killer was caught. The collective component confuses me in terms of how or if I need to read the other authors. The other team mates are meaningful and I hope they all get a story as developed and detailed as Ava’s and Reid’s. It would be great to see what happens with Ivory, April, Austin, and many others.

Unbroken is supremely written!

Unbroken by Riley Edward's is an emotionally driven story of sadness, loyalty, rebirth and growth surrounded by family. This book gutted me and then rebuilt me from beginning to end. I cried ugly tears and laughed with each character.
JJ has got to be the coolest kid ever. Loved, loved the dynamic between him and Reid and Mac.
Character development is phenomenal and the storyline while convoluted never overwhelmed me. I could not put this one down. This book has some of the strongest female characters ever written. And while Edward's always writes strong characters she was never better than with Unbroken.

Unbroken

OMG! This story is about Ava, JJ and Reid. It seems to me I cried in every chapter of this story. This is such a sad yet happy story. You will definitely feel Ava's pain throughout this story. You will also cheer when Ava finally finds that happiness. Reid's pain is also sad and the worst was when one of his best friends is gone in a flash protecting Ava and JJ. It was so cool to have Jacob make his presence known when the family needed it. So happy this family has found happiness. FANTASTIC job Riley! I highly recommend this book! Also, loved the extra bonus about Mac.

The accurate blurb for this outing highlights widowed mom/cafe owner Ava Kelley five years after tragedy struck learning to appreciate life and support with the help of security expert neighbor Logan Reid. Ava hadn’t noticed Logan waiting in the wings and hadn’t realized how integral Reid had become to Ava and her son, JJ’s lives. But that’s just the start of Ava’s next chapter. Drunken trouble comes to Ava’s door with more notorious trouble on his tail. As things get dire for Ava, she gets closer to Reid and surprisingly is inspired by her dead husband’s voice and instruction followed closely by more troubles!

I have read a lot of Riley Edwards books and this book didn't disappoint. Ava lost her husband Jacob...tge night of his birthday, the night their son JJ and her were going to celebrate Jacob's birthday and the new baby. 5 years later. Reid happened. Also a cop. He claimed Ava and JJ and Ava didn't even know. This book will have you not just on the edge of your seat, but also seeking out the characters from Riley's other books. This book contains suspense, mystery...it was like WHOA. If you want to have a good read...read this.

Good read. I like her other books better. But it was still a good story. Heart ache, drama, intrigue, resilience all the characteristics that make a good story plus chemistry. Ava was a strong woman that had a lot thrown her way, making sure her son was ok was always her first priority. Pushing people away to deal with her pain was her coping mechanism; luckily she had strong alpha men that would not let her.

I love Riley Edwards books. When I first started reading this one I was a little worried this was one I wouldn't finish. I put aside for a few months and came back to it and I'm so glad I did.
This book had multiple plots, action, suspense and kept me wondering what comes next.

I'm going onto the next book; Trust and I'm sure it will be as great as this one.

Riley is one of my favorite authors!

This Collective was a collective. There was so much horror with a serial killer, death of two good men, loss of a dad and a dad to be, loss of a husband and a husband to be. The love of brothers in arms and teammates to take care of their own and their families. The sadness of not knowing you had a daughter for the last 5 years us heartbreaking. I hope Austin, Dustin, Mac have stories. Who was the serial killer and why that way of killing? Kind of left hanging

Lacking

Ava was my least favorite character, she complained about her mother but exhibited the same characteristics. She was too hot and cold for me personally. Especially with those who were the closest to her. But she was always praised as “such a good person”! Too many of these men put her on a pedestal and this caused a dominoes effect on other’s lives. So many people died cause of stupidity on everyone’s part. Careless mistakes made throughout the entire book!

What wonderful marvelous author I discovered in Riley!

Lordy, her way with words had me crying for at least two-thirds of this novel. Not because I usually cry when I read but because her words and tenderness was amazing. I wish I had a friend like Ava when I truly needed when my Mother was murdered. Thank you for sharing your story.

Oh my word! I was on the hunt for something different and that is what I found with Riley's books.
To say I am in love with this series and all her other works is an understatement.

I have binged on each and everyone of her books and love each and everyone.

Hot, steamy, sexy, sizzling with hot alpha males. I am in heaven.

My rating - 4-1/4 stars. This book will definitely pull the heart strings and the tear ducts will flow! But … as much as the book was really good, I found the author was a little cavalier about certain topics and a little rushed on others. I think, if they were explored a little more, I would have given a full 5 stars

This is another rip your heart from your chest, jump up and down on it so it stops beating and then piece by piece it gets slowly put back together again kind of read. Riley Edwards completely captivated me with Reid and Ava's story. Just when you think they are all set to get a HEA, think again. Loved the entire book from start to finish.

To their joining together with Rein and his unknown daughtrr, Melody progresses through tears and joy with many twists and turns in the plot. OMG!!!

This is the most touching book I’ve ever read. I cried more times reading this book than I’ve ever cried reading any book. Sometimes they were happy tears, sometimes sad tears - but this is one book I’ll not soon forget. Riley is one hell of a writer.

I’m speechless... my emotions are wreck after feeling all the feels with Ava and Reid’s story. This book is about forgiveness and redemption. There’s so many obstacles and pulling them every each way but they pull thru at the end when you think they can’t.

Good

Enjoyed this book. All the characters were well done. JJ is an amazing kid. I feel like the final mystery was resolved a bit quietly, but I understand the focus was meant to be more on the family.
