Zayn has spent his whole life preparing for the final confrontation with the Lady of Varna, but as the day grows closer, complications multiply. When he realizes he can no longer trust his cousin, or his patron—nor does he want to get his teammates killed—it means he must finish his quest alone. But the Lady of Varna has been alive for millennia because she has a supernatural knack for avoiding even the most cunning plans. If Zayn is going to solve this impossible conundrum, he's going to have to get help from an unlikely source and accept the price of his failures.

This is the final book in The Reluctant Assassin series and it really is the grand finale which we deserved. Zayn hardly gets to spend any time with his team during the final academic year as he is given a job by his mentor, Priyanka and Frank Orpheum of the dramatics hall. He is to act as spy on a young boy, who was a ward to Invictus himself! However whilst all the other students where making plans for their future after graduating from the academy, Zayn was still all set on his plan to wipe out the Lady of Varna, his home town, and to free his family and friends from her tyranny. This is one hell of a book, full of suspense from beginning to end, also full of loyalty of friends even when they know they are risking their lives to aid each other. I have enjoyed all the series but this book is something really special full of the usual magic and mythical creatures but mostly it is full of hope for a better future and a lot of love, loyalty and courage!
The one we've all been waiting for!! For a book describing events from a paralel book, it's not too repetitive, which is rare. So good job! Now for the inconsistencies: Pri tells Zayn about Semyon arriving at the battle grounds, but wasn't it Zayn who called him? I remember so from Web of Lies. And here's one for the gremlin catchers: how can Nev have a rosy cheeked smile?
Wow! The web's that bond indeed! Not all is as it seems and without giving anything away Is prepare yourself for some twists and turns in this epic journey.
My advice though; read in order for the best experience.
I found the book an excellent culmination of the series. It had a lot of emotion, both sad and happy. Zayn and company showed what they were made of. And I can't say more without possibly giving out spoilers.
