When Caterina Russo wakes from her coma, she's certain she must be dreaming. How else would she be seeing the love of her life at her bedside thirty-six years after they parted without him knowing about the child she carried? But when her next visitor is that daughter she was forced to give away, Cat realizes it’s no dream. The two people she has loved most have returned to her, and the time has come to face the past she's been running from her entire adult life. As the families involved adjust to the shock of the new relationships, Cat attempts to forge a bond with the daughter she never knew and to reconnect with the man she's never forgotten. Will either of them be able to forgive Cat for the decisions she made to protect them? And if they do, will Cat ever be able to forgive herself? Welcome to Cedar Creek! This heartwarming second-chance Seasoned Romance is the second volume in Cedar Creek Families, a collection of stories about the people who live, love, and laugh in the small town of Cedar Creek.

I really enjoy this series and so happy to discover a new author.
William and Cat's story is a second chance love story and they have challenges that push them to the limit. Secrets are revealed and the healing.........WOW. William is so thoughtful and has a heart of gold. Cat is weighted with so much guilt that she feels she does not deserve love. This author took her time with the development of the story and by the time you reach the end, you want more. I can't wait for the next installment of this series.
Crossing Paths by Violet Howe Cedar Creek Families series #2. Romance, fiction. Can be read as a stand-alone. Caterina Russo and William Ward fell in love back in their high school years. But coming from money, Cat flaunted rules and parents one time too many and was sent off to a boarding school without a chance to say goodbye. To protect William and his family from any repercussions, she refused to name him when she was thrown out of school, alone and pregnant. Thirty years later, Cat wakes up in the hospital with William at her side. She never told him about her pregnancy and yet her daughter stands next to him. William still loves her. Can they have a future together after all?
Sentimental with all the emotions. Told through memories, the reader slowly learns about their romance, their lives afterwards and their current families. I came to like Cat eventually although certainly not initially. William is steadfast throughout and I’m glad he gets his chance again for this love. Beautifully written.
Crossing Path is another Great book written by Author Violet Howe it's the second book in the Cedar Creek Familes Series. The book was told from several characters point of views but the story that stuck out the most was Cat's and William's Love Story. If you read the first book in the series Building fences you learned some of their story but not their whole story. I am patiently waiting on the next story and who this story will follow and the adventures that await me.
Another great story in the Cedar Creek series. It was a continuation of ‘Building Fences’ so you do need to read that one first, I think. She tells this story from the perspective of many characters which I appreciate but I did have to occasionally wonder for a moment here or there “who is ‘I’ in this chapter?” I’m sure it posed a challenge to write. I wanted more from each character but got a satisfying amount by book’s end. I know she will probably give Piper a story and that will provide some of the more I want! I read this one a little slower because I knew it’d be over for awhile. *patiently waits for more Cedar Creek books*
First I'd like to thank Violet Howe for sending me an eBook copy of Crossing Paths in exchange for an honest review...Thank you!
I liked that we got to know more about Caterina (Cat) in this book after meeting her in volume 1, Building Fences of the Cedar Creek Family series. It's refreshing to know that people still have a lot to live for even after the age of fifty. Women can still be sexy, and men can still be aroused by women in their fifties.
This book is written in multiple POV's, with the two main POV's being Cat and _____ (I don't want to spoil it for you); but he was the love of Cat's life back when she was in high school. To hear both sides of what happened back then, how they're cooping now, and the reactions of others as they consider a rekindled relationship.
There are a variety of characters with all kinds of personalities within the pages of this story. Violet Howe did well writing real people who have real reactions.
I'm looking forward to reading more from the characters in both the Cedar Creek series and the Cedar Creek Family series.
I’m glad I decided to give the second book in this series a chance. It is definitely better developed then book one. The story telling gets a little weak when the author makes an abrupt shift from character development to something that feels like a steamy romance. And I read steamy romances unapologetically, so that’s not my issue. It just feels abrupt, as I said, and the pacing becomes awkward. That said, the issue was worse in book 1, so I have hopes that this author is figuring out how to transition her romantic tales. The telling of William and Catherine’s teen romance was actually pretty well done.
I look forward to the author delivering more stories from Cedar Creek, especially one centered on Piper. I’d also like more follow-up on Caroline since her story was left with lots of potential for continuing drama. I actually think something from Brad’s perspective could be interesting despite his role as the evil ex-husband.
I’m tempted to check out the mysteries that take place in Cedar Creek, but may take a little break from the author first.
This is the direct sequel to Building Fences, a story of a woman meeting her biological parents and all that entails. Crossing Paths continues the story from the biological parents POVs. (I'm not naming names to avoid book 1 spoilers) Seeing their young, teenaged selves inch closer to the inevitable after already knowing them in the present was such a unique and awesome experience. I already knew them to be great people, so that was the lens through which I saw everything unfold. This was a more emotional read because in both timelines, so many more people had a hand in what was happening. I went back and forth between empathizing with everyone's feelings and wanting to tell them all to back off and let the couple figure things out. One character in particular was hard to sympathize with, but there were signs that she may have a redemption story in the future.
Loved seeing them work through the hurt. Loved seeing them rediscover past experiences. And loved where they are at the end of the book. Looking forward to what else is planned for this family's future.
“When you give your heart to someone so completely, do you ever really get it back?”
Caterina Russo has awakened to see a sight she never thought to behold again…her long lost to her daughter and the love of her life. So much time has passed, but one thing hasn’t changed…her love for William Ward. Now she must tell him the truth regarding the daughter they had and he never knew and why she disappeared 36 years ago.
Crossing Paths by Violet Howe has become my fav read of the year! Beautifully written and heartfelt, William and Cat’s second chance at love is a must read! Loved it!!
Fav Quotes:
“Sometimes the people who seem the toughest are the ones who need our love the most.”
“There’s a lot to get from the story that you’ll miss if you concentrate only on the sad parts.”
Crossing Paths is the second book in the Cedar Creek Series Families series. I loved it!! Absolutely loved it, Building Fences is the first book in the series and Crossing Paths takes over right where the first one ended, it’s a great read and violet takes you right into the story with William and Cat, I can’t wait to see who is featured in the next book! Violet Howe is an auto buy for me! I highly recommend this book and series
VIolet does it again! Another fantastic story about the people of Cedar Creek. We revisit some of our favorites from Building Fences but get a different perspective on the story. I was getting frustrated at Cat not wanting to be with William for so many pages but that added to the suspense of the book.
I loved reading Cat and William's story told from their perspective. It was refreshing to read about rekindled love with an "older" couple. I couldn't wait to get home from work and continue reading this book. This is an awesome series.
