Since then he has seen considerable success, his series of sixteen books set in the First World War receiving high acclaim.
I binged the whole series, a good read, though I was hoping for the wars end as I finished the final book. No one reading this would wish for any war. as a veteran of conflict I wish that was true.
A great read delveing into freindships made in the front and there journey through the horrors of fighting in the trenches the characters kept you glued as they took you through all the major battles up to the 11th hour when hostilities ended
A gripping story which held me all the way through and grateful that I knew when the war ended. Would have liked several more chapters on how their demob and return to society went
Enjoyed Minor’s Second World WAr stories and saw this Great War set was available. It is a well done opus. I would hope a companion volume might come covering post Armistice and the English returning the troops to home .
A well written book that brings home the terrible life our troops experienced in the trenches while also giving a very interesting factual account of the history of the war.
I read this after reading Stuart’s WW2 series, I love the historical accuracy as well as the fictional characters. I know Fred continues in WW2, it would be interesting to see what happens to the others. Fascinating
Well written, well researched, the characters comes to life,a great representation of the life of the ordinary soldiers, enjoyed it very much.well worth it
Great telling of an ordinary soldier life in trenches. Hardships we cannot imagine, the steady grinding lethal attempts to survive ,losing pals on the way.
Good stories albeit somewhat fanciful. He captures both the sweep of history and the experiences of the common man. I particularly liked the historical notes.
