Break the rich boys.
It’s tricky, but doable.
Jerks like them don’t deserve to rule Burberry Prep.
No, Tristan, Zayd, and Creed are going to pay, and I plan to make an example of them.
Then there’s Zack, the varsity football d*ck. Oh, and did I mention a prince just transferred to the academy? Whatever will I do with those two?
Revenge is wicked sweet; I can’t wait for a taste.

Defend ourselves against the charity case.
We’re the Idols of the school, the kings of the campus.

She might come from nothing, but she sure is determined to stir up something at the academy.

C.M. Stunich is a self-admitted bibliophile with a love for exotic teas and a whole host of characters who live full time inside the strange, swirling vortex of her thoughts. Some folks might call this crazy, but Caitlin Morgan doesn't mind - especially considering she has to write biographies in the third person. Oh, and half the host of characters in her head are searing hot bad boys with dirty mouths and skillful hands (among other things). If being crazy means hanging out with them everyday, C.M. has decided to have herself committed.

She hates tapioca pudding, loves to binge on cheesy horror movies, and is a slave to many cats. When she's not vacuuming fur off of her couch, C.M. can be found with her nose buried in a book or her eyes glued to a computer screen. She's the author of over thirty novels - romance, new adult, fantasy, and young adult included. Please, come and join her inside her crazy. There's a heck of a lot to do there.

Oh, and Caitlin loves to chat (incessantly), so feel free to e-mail her, send her a Facebook message, or put up smoke signals. She's already looking forward to it.

Update: Kindly refrain from swarming onto my review and accusing me of 'author cruelty' or whatever.

I have written a critical review. I'm well within my rights to write a critical review, and to write it however I want. You'll note that I have NOT gone onto any of the short, unjustified 5-star reviews and accused the writers of being mindless sheep, telling them to change their opinions.

So, if you do that to me, quite frankly that makes you a troll and your comment will be deleted.

Back to Original Review

So after the clusterf*ck which was FRB, I was wary of starting the sequel. For me to enjoy this book I needed to see Marnye toughen the hell up.

Spoiler alert: she doesn't. Not NEARLY to the extent necessary after what they did to her. This book is also riddled with plot holes and inconsistencies.

Let me start at the beginning, in order. Warning: long list.

❌ Marnye's father's behaviour is totally inexplicable. He watched a video of his daughter's sexual moments, saw her humiliated as boys waved her knickers around. AND HE DOES NOTHING. He doesn't contact the school and demand to know how they'll deal with it. He doesn't ask her why these people are doing it. He doesn't even force her to leave the school! What kind of parent is he? He also is in love with his ex-wife, who abandoned their three-year-old daughter at a petrol station. Where any passing murderer could have picked her up. A normal father would have taken her to court. Charlie (her father) has less personality than a plant.

Marnye's attitude to Miranda infuriated me. Marnye literally outed her, leading to homophobic bullying. Miranda had NEVER done anything to her. And yet Marnye keeps trying to defend her actions, barely apologises, and keeps talking about how she won't trust Miranda! I could not believe my eyes. BITCH, YOU'RE THE ONE MIRANDA SHOULDN'T TRUST. And yet Marnye likes to pretend she's a firm ally of LGBT+ rights. Yeah, right. On a similar note: at one point, Marnye has a really snotty mental dialogue where she says something like, 'OMG I can't believe there are parents out there who don't accept their gay children! My dad would never do that!' And that's partially her defence for why she so carelessly outed Miranda and Andrew. How naive can you get?!? Of course there are parents like that! Andrew is literally engaged to a girl, he didn't WANT to be out! I'm glad your dad is so accepting, but can you stop pretending you're an 'ally' if you don't recognise that other dads aren't like that?

The author giving scents to all the heroes was LAUGHABLE. Genuinely, risibly bad. Windsor smells like DAFFODILS AND POLISH?!?!?! What polish? Shoe polish? Furniture polish? Does he live in a Boots shop? Do daffodils even have a smell? What 16-year-old boy smells like daffodils, for the love of God?!?!? It didn't stop there. ANOTHER BOY SMELLS LIKE GERANIUMS. The others are cloves, sage, citrus, and fresh linen. What the actual, actual f*ck?

Marnye acts like a jealous girlfriend, and it's pathetic. All she does is go around asking the boys if they're with girls, or getting sick when she sees them with girls. And they're with girls constantly; no shortage of OW here. Obviously, she's still a virgin. The only virgin. She hasn't hardened her heart enough; she admits herself she's not the badass she's supposed to be. I SIGNED UP TO READ A REAL REVENGE STORY. I signed up to see Marnye annihilate them. Her first revenge is pretty pathetic; it impacts them in the wallet, and we already know they're filthy rich. After that she says she's 'thrown everything she has at them'. Um, no, dear. You have not.

Nobody in this bloody school seems to have the tiniest bloody amount of curiosity in them. They're like robots. Marnye most of all. She still doesn't ask how one gets into the Infinity Club, who started it, what precisely it does, ANYTHING. We barely know what it even is. And she got told a YEAR ago that her dad had important news, and she never questioned it. FOR A WHOLE YEAR.

PLOT HOLES, PLOT HOLES GALORE. She says the only time in her life she had tiramisu was when her dad worked two weekend jobs to bring her to an Italian restaurant. Um... okay. Here in the UK, you can get tiramisu for less than a fiver from Tesco. Is tiramisu some kind of extreme luxury in the US? Is it not available in a box from Walmart or wherever? If it isn't, fair enough. But if you can buy some for under $10 from a supermarket, then this whole thing is just a desperate ploy by the author to make us go 'OMG poor Maryne! Look at those spoiled kids having tiramisu while she can't afford it!' This is like the harp thing. In the last book, we learn her dad worked two jobs just so she could afford harp lessons. The harp is a bloody expensive instrument. We're meant to believe she's that poor, and he still kept up harp lessons over buying food? SHE SAYS BREAD PUDDING IS A LUXURY FOR HER!

❌ Similar: where is all her money coming from? She says she wouldn't use a cent of Tristan's. And yet she keeps buying expensive clothes which she shouldn't be able to afford, based on the fact her dad is working like 4 jobs to keep her in harp lessons and desserts.

❌ How is Zayd allowed to walk around with tattoos, lip rings, facial piercings, heavy makeup and blue hair? (Also remember he's 16). I went to a grammar school, not even an independent school, and we weren't even allowed to have hair dyed unnatural colours. A girl in my year got a detention for having eyebrows she'd accidentally tinted too dark. How is the school letting him get away with this?

Marnye is still terminally stupid. She's very wishy-washy on her revenge - she tries to comfort Tristan when she sees him sad. HE WOULDN'T DO THE SAME FOR YOU, BITCH. She makes an astoundingly stupid bet with Harper, risking her father's medical care, that she can get the boys to go to a gala with her. 1) It's unoriginal. That's what they did to her. 2) It doesn't even hurt them. It's painfully obvious none of them care about her the way she does them. 3)It involves her insinuating her way into their good graces again. She says she misses them!!!!! She tries to send them roses on Valentine's!!!!! Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, I stop reading the story of a heroine who deserves whatever is coming to her. She feels such 'chemistry' with them. God, spare me. She just falls back into friendship with them like nothing ever happened - like, I know it's for the bet, but she really does want to become their friend again. Also, I can't believe they barely question her sudden friendliness. Do they just think she's that forgiving!? She also spends WAY too much time persuading herself that they really did share something 'real' with her last year. FFS.

❌ She still gets genuinely hurt when they're mean to her. Like, why are you still that vulnerable? Just accept they don't like you! Don't care about you! Also Tristan is totally in love with Lizzie. Speaking of Lizzie, she's supposedly good friends with Maryne. That's told, not shown; we never even get to see a conversation between Marnye and Lizzie. How are they even friends? Why? We don't see them interact at all, we're just told about it. Makes it sound extraordinarily fake.

You know what else is fake? Marnye's personality. She has zero, zilch, nada personality. What the f*ck are her hobbies and interests? It isn't enough to TELL US she's a history buff; Stunich needs to SHOW US. We never see Marnye pick up a history book, or researching history, or even talking about it. All she does is, one single time, she mentions a historical fact (at a very ill-timed place and it made no sense). In so many ways she feels inorganic.

Warning: here is a slightly pedantic paragraph about everything wrong with Windsor's character.

So, a little bit about me: I'm sort of an amateur expert on the British aristocracy and royal family. I've spent the last 6 years researching their history, customs, family trees, etc. Weird hobby for a teenager, I know... I am serious about it, though. Like, other authors (including Giana Darling) have actually reached out to me, to ask me for advice on portraying British peers.

If the author had used a fictionalised version of the British royal family for her book, I'd have been forced to accept her errors. But she didn't. She mentions William and Kate, and Meghan and Harry, so we KNOW this is set within the real-life royal family. Which makes my criticisms fair game.

❌ The first words he utters are 'Bloody hell.' OH. MY. GOD. Can you be any more cliched and stereotyped and hackneyed?! (And can I get any more repetitive in my adjectives here???) This is like having an Australian's first words be 'G'day, mate.'

❌ The royal family's SURNAME is Windsor. Why did she make his first name Windsor?!

❌ She conflates the aristocratic family of the Duke of Westminster with the royal family. THEY'RE TWO SEPARATE FAMILIES. Make up a title if you have to, but don't use real-life ones that belong to another family. The real Dukes of Westminster ARE billionaires, but the royal family is not. It's actually a pretty big point that the Queen is by no means the richest aristocrat in the country. You just can't make a random junior prince OWN NINE BILLION POUNDS. I know this is fiction, but you can't throw the rules of reality out of the window , or you're throwing a reader's enjoyment right out with it.

❌ No British prince is going to be at an American boarding school. You can't say he 'gets kicked out whenever he's finished seducing all the girls.' At Eton, where he's supposed to be, there ARE no girls. In fact, most top schools here are single-sex - nearly all the grammar schools, and all the best public schools too. The most scandalous thing to happen to the royal family are things like Harry wearing a Nazi uniform in Vegas or wherever 10 years ago; no random prince would get into as much trouble as 'Windsor York' does. Discretion is actually drummed into them. In fact, the royals are a fairly boring bunch. They have to be; they aren't glitzy American celebrity heirs.

❌ Why does Windsor say things like 'you Americans with your Halloween and Valentines traditions'? Does Stunich realise those events also exist in the UK?

❌ I cannot imagine a prince saying 'bloke.' Or 'love.' Yes, they're British words, but I've NEVER actually heard anyone use the former, and whenever I hear it 'love' is usually used sarcastically. It's not a very upper-class thing.

MINOR ISSUES (as if this review wasn't long enough)

BITCH WE GET IT YOUR HAIR IS ROSE GOLD. Her hair wasn't mentioned a SINGLE time without the colour being described too.

❌ This happened in the last book actually, but imply and infer were used the wrong way round. Does my head in.

In many ways, the author keeps shoving her own opinions into Marnye's mouth. She's gotten this complaint with other books she's written before, too, so it's not just me. I mean Marnye goes off into rants about things like copyright law, or LGBT+ rights. These are great issues, but they feel shoehorned into the book sometimes. The copyright thing especially - very few people have such strong opinions about such things, and Marnye never seemed like the kind of person who would. For God's sake, we never even see her read a book. I'm actually unsure as to what she spends most of her time doing.

THE END

Gad, this must be the longest review I've ever written...

Full rtc later

After inhaling the first book I'm diving straight into this to see how she's going to come back at them!!

This has a lot more angst than the previous book, a gossip girl feel to it. No one is safe, she’s gunning for them and she’s set on vengeance she’s had all summer to think up ploys to bring each and every blu blood down.

Like a train wreck, I’m struggling to look away, I need to find out how she brings down the worst of the worst as I keep everything crossed that in the end she chooses Zack!

It’s not the best bully book/series I’ve read, but it’s definitely entertaining

Hooked

This second installment is a huge improvement from the first; I’m glad I stuck with it! Having read C.M. Stunich before, I had an idea that the storyline would pick up after the first book. If you were concerned about Marnye being able to live up to her plans of revenge, have no fear; she delivered! I can’t wait for book 3!!

Sexual tension ✔
Desperately seeking for the next book ✔✔✔

Bad, Bad Blue Bloods was so freaking good. I couldn't put this book down once I started it. I love all these characters - especially the ones I hate. God, the blue bloods in this school are out for blood. Maryne's blood to be exact but she's not going back to school weak and naive. She has her own revenge plan. Having a list, plan, and people to help her out along the way makes this new school year a bit better than the previous one. Plus, there's a new potential romance? Just kidding! Lots and lots of sexual tension guys. Ugh, I hate it but love it at the same time. I'm liking the kisses and such but I want more! I hope there's more dammit. Now that she has 5 gives basically fawning over her.

Lucky bitch.

It also doesn't help that people tried to rape and kill her.. but details guys. I'm so pumped for the new revenge that is going to take place in the next year. Now it's a full out war between the Idols and the blue bloods. So freaking excited for all that's going to come.

Now the guys I mentioned before? Well - Zayd, Creed, Tristan, Zack, and Wind are something else. I think that Tristan and Lizzie might become an item again since there's still some love between them two. Unless she actually goes with the whole marriage thing since she's engaged. He was engaged but now he isn't. Mostly because Harper was psychotic.. and she totally deserves to go down.

Overall, I know it's a harem kind of book but all I'm getting are kisses. I need and want more!

This book is the second in the series and I loved it so much. I’ve really been enjoying this series lately, so much so that I’ve found it so difficult to put these books down!

At the end of the previous book, a major fiasco takes place. Marnye is in tatters, and she is now ready to get her revenge.

She has the entire school against her, except for a few of her friends. The only difference now is that a new student has transferred to Burberry Prep - a prince of England.

This prince is definitely on Marnye’s side, and he is also known for being a bit of a bad boy...

Will Marnye be able to exact her revenge and finally make peace with the Burberry Prep bullies; or will she get what she doesn’t see coming?

I can’t wait to read the third book in the series! If you are into high school bully books with heaps of drama, please check this out!! x

OK

I waited long enough to write this. Two weeks to be exact. I needed this time to formulate words to express my utter dislike of this second book of a OTT bully series.

Lord knows I tried. I wanted to suck up and enjoy the revenge plot. I wanted to revel in how the heroine was going to get back at these friggin idiots for treating her so horribly. granted, she walked into their trap so hastily and stupidly... digress digress...

What happened in the second instalment of the much anticipated bully series? A whollotta BS. More particularly, Marnye (Can't say that name without sounding uber nasallish!)

The heroine, Marnye became completely dislikeable. I don't know how Stunich missed this. As we anticipated her well crafted revenge when she returns to Burberry Prep, we are assaulted by her pre prep.

I am going to forgo speaking of the weak plot by just pointing out how a minimally likeable heroine turning into a majorly dislikeable heroine. In her revenge, she basically uses every friend she ever had without regard. Going as far as betraying some, to get back at these people, whom, she still get 'heart flutters' over.

Andrew, Miranda, Zack, Lizzie... She uses them all to get what she wants. And this doesn't work for me.

The best way to describe Marnye is SOULLESS. She annihilates her motives by being so horny and desperate. I have rarely disliked a heroine more. She has the nerve to be angry at her dad for pinning after the mother who abandoned her, yet she lusts and canoodles with the assholes who videotaped her humiliation? it just doesn't ad up. And it makes for a heroine who is, in essence, everything we hate in woman.

And the Windsor dude? Mate? So no. The accent was off putting and his motives for being her wingman were weird. Weird because, despite being the bullied, Marnye is not a likeable character. So it's hard to imagine why he would like her and want to be her buddy. There's nothing in her character, in so far as what I have been reading, that makes her attractive, or sweet or nice or fun ANYTHING!

And here's another concept, why are the bitches who nearly killed her TWICE never brought to authorities? Don't give me the bull about money. They tried to drown her, the tried to have her raped yet she doesn't do anything about it? Scratching my head as to why this is overlooked when the school would have been on her side along with the other gang of people under her so called spell. Go figure.

Here's another point... How the hell does she achieve academic excellence when she barely studies?

Next up, the Hamptons? LOL

I will wait for honest review before I continue on this train wreck.

First thing's first: you know you're a bitch with some serious privilege if you say "I'd choose to be a lesbian if I could, it would be so much easier lolz" and I'm actually pissed C.M. had the audacity to have Maryne say it. Like, I hope I don't have to explain why it's a bad look for a straight white cis-girl to go "It's so hard being straight!" You all can see why, right? For a "fierce ally" C.M. definitely has to make better efforts to not write shit that legit queer people would find exasperating.

Anyhoo, beyond that, it's a bit of a step up from the first book in that Maryne's actions are a bit more realistic and her conflicts a little more justified, so I can see some character growth. I like the comeuppance she gave the guys.

I just hate how after that, the whole book becomes very much... girl hate. Like, the girls are the #1 enemy in all aspects. Maryne has like two total women she doesn't hate: Mrs. Cabot and Miranda (and Jessie, Miranda's girlfriend, but, she's not really a character). Every other woman in this story is the absolute pettiest, worst bitch alive and I just feel like there's some lack of self-awareness on C.M.'s part as to her own internalized misogyny if the major antagonists are all girls and not a single one ever has any growth or dimension or ever makes an effort to not be terrible. Are we legit going to believe that amongst the guys there are those willing to have a conscience, but for the girls, not a single one has any empathy or thinks things are going too far? They ALL are petty mean girls who are mad Maryne has the attention of some guy? It's not even like "just one girl and her crones are out for blood." Every female on the planet is jealous or hateful of Maryne (almost always in response to a guy being around her) unless they're the gay best friend or the gay best friend's mother who got her a scholarship.

Kind of a big yikes from me.

Also... Windsor is a kind of terrible caricature, if I'm being honest. His name is weird, too. I don't like, particularly care about the British royal family in the 20th century, so the accuracy of all that is irrelevant to me, however, I find that Windsor acts more like a stereotype than anything, once again revealing that C.M. is a weird anglophile who probably loves England because of Harry Potter and really only views them (as she's an American) as a novelty with sexy accents and magic tea brewing capabilities. Had any of her cast been POC or foreigners from a non-white country I can only imagine how cringe that would be.

We need only look at Ayaz from Shunned to know that such is a slippery, slippery slope into yikes territory for these types of books.

Ah, what else? Oh, Creed ejaculating in the hot tub made me think of that terrible scene from Secret Life of the American Teenager where the one girl gets knocked up because she was in the hot tub with her boyfriend and made him orgasm. I know factually that sperm are super easy to kill and things like pools/hot tubs are not good environments for them, but part of me wished Maryne had been a little freaked out because being 16 and never before making a guy cum would probably seed some anxiety she'd need to google away, had she been a real person.

Original, untouched review from 2019:
FUCK YES. I'm SO happy with this read. Book #1 was a dark horse coming out of the gate to surprise me with its dark writing magic and this one is continuing the winning streak. I was worried but the author came through for me.

It's so rare that I feel like that these days.

C.M. Stunich is going strong with this narrative. I'm totally on board. It has all the fun and sensuality of a more edgy, dark tale of bullying and revenge without crossing over into that line where it's like "there's no way in hell that's forgivable." The progression is delightfully paced and we're keeping things interesting the whole way through.

I also am completely digging the addition of Windsor to the group and I like the direction that the author is taking with Zack; Marnye's relationship with him is realistic and complex and I like it. We're still seeing things be relatively slow burn with the development of attraction and feelings and there's a good complexity to everything that's just wonderful.

Marnye remains a great heroine. She's not a saint but she has standards and complexity and I like it. Despite all the ways everything could've gone terrible for her character, she's standing tall.

Overall I'm just really, really impressed that the author has the sense to write this sort of story without veering a hard left off the narrow path into the abyss. So many authors have tried to write a story like this and it's sunk to a place where it can never crawl out of for the sake of shock horror and drama. As bad as the characters are, the motivations and actions are complex enough that it's more in the grey than the black, so I don't feel disgusted by what's happening. The story also isn't unnecessarily crass or soul-sucking; there's enough goodness to counteract the worst moments. It also doesn't have the same level of disbelief that a lot of other stories in this vein try to push; you can see a rich, private academy behave like this and do these sorts of things.

I'm absolutely pumped for book #3. On the author's facebook she mentioned it being a strong possibility that it'll be done and released before the end of April and if she can release it that fast I'll be stoked, but I'll still be here even if it's released in May or June.

I like Marilyn's character. She is so good. I like this part in the book when she goes for revenge-
Know when enough is enough
She didn't cross limits. She did things that were in her behavior. She didn't fall to the level of bad.

Tristan, Zayd, Creed, Zack, and Windsor. “We couldn’t agree on who should come over and talk to you,” Tristan begins, glancing back at the other four. “So, unfortunately, we all fucking showed up.”

Marnye came back full force! There's something about this series, I'm lapping it up! So good.

Confession - I’m probably more lenient on the heroine due to the fact that I only read the prologue, 4 pages of the first chapter and about 4 pages of the last chapter in book 1. It was immediately clear in the first few pages of the first chapter that this was NOT going to be a heroine I liked. Then in the few pages of the last chapter I saw how absolutely horribly they treated the heroine.
Ultimately I knew she would be an idiot and the guys were not redeemable in any way BUT due to not reading and seeing her complete idiotic behavior and how gullible she was for myself I kinda had a blind eye to her.

Also, I’ll say that I’m not a fan of this author. I’ve tried a few of her books and found the characters to be extremely unlikeable. BUT I gave this book a chance because it promised a strong kick ass heroine who gets her revenge! After seeing what the hero’s did to her in book one I really REALLY wanted to see them get their just rewards...
Hell..even the author PROMISED it in her Authors Note at the beginning of the book

“Karma is a bitch, especially when it comes in the form of Marnye Reed.“

So being mostly blind I went into this with some hope....well....stupid me!

While the heroine showed SOME strength she also showed quite a bit of weakness. I’m going to refer to the heros from her on out like this - H1 (Tristian...I think that’s his name...leader of the bully’s at the school), H2 (twin school hero), H3 (Rockstar school Hero), H4 (ex bf who tried to get her to kill herself) and Prince (self explanatory..). Basically, I can’t remember their names because they’re still beyond redemption and my brain refuses to lend any amount of it’s power to them.

Heroine has grand ideas of revenge but ultimately it just wasn’t enough...it wasn’t penance for what they did to her. All she did was piss off their dads, expose some of their own actions (they should each be fully aware of who each other is by this point considering their actions so I’m confused as to WHY this was considered revenge), and become number 1 in class standing. Oh AND she cut a girls hair...THATS IT! There was NO grand revenge. NO humiliation, NO emotional destruction.

So if we didn’t get revenge what did we get?

We got the mean girls at the school almost killing the heroine! They surrounded her in a pool and attempted to drown her. They would have succeeded if the Prince hadn’t showed up and saved her. But don’t worry...it was all brushed under the rug and the girls suffered NO CONSEQUENCES for attempted murder!

We got her taking H4 back and staring a relationship with him! He showed up, tells her he’s sorry, tells her he loves her. She’s leery! Bitch please...he convinced you to KILL YOURSELF! Why are you allowing him within 100 feet of you??!! Why are you taking to him? Why are you getting flutters in your stomach and saying you’re “falling” for him? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK??!! Out of the messed up bunch of Hero’s he’s def the worst!

We got her kissing and being physical with H1, H2, and H3! Yep! She gets their daddies mad at them, she basically has to force an apology from them and then she all up on them kissing and getting them off in the hot tub! Her brilliant plan..make them fall in love with her! Again WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK! Her justification for forgiveness...”you hurt me I hurt you..it’s in the past” Can someone please tell me what makes these guys so attractive? She’s seen them first hand have sex with OW, she’s seen them hang all over the girls who beat her, she’s experienced them humiliating her! Why would she want anything to do with these guys?? I’m flabbergasted...

We got a rather generic Prince who should offend ALL British individuals! Seriously...he’s such an OTT cliche that I’m offended for every English persons behalf. BUT don’t fear he’s a Bully of Bullies so he’s all good!

We also got the fact that H1 is completely in love with OW thrown in our face multiple times. H1 apparently still has major love for Lizzy. Lizzy is a friend of the heroine...Lizzy is the girl who made H4 convince the heroine to kill herself. Good people here. GREAT company for the heroine to keep...
There is NOTHING the author could do to convince me that H1 is in love with the heroine. Ultimately it will be played off as it was puppy love with Lizzy because they’re young. Whatever...I’ll never believe it. And PLEASE tell me how spending the summer in the Hamptons with Lizzy around, cuz YOU KNOW the heroine will want her friend around, is going to solidify love between H1 and the heroine?

There a lot more wrong with this whole book and I’ll direct you to the below reviews by my friend Namera for reviews on Book 1 and Book 2. She goes further more into details about two “friends” of the heroine...one drugged her so the mean girls could have their way with her AND the heroine outed the other...again...great friends and good people all around!

Ultimately my impression of the heroine is that she’s a Sub with a humiliation kink. My impression of the Heros is that they don’t have any love for the heroine REGARDLESS of what the author wants us to think. Their actions in the first book make them unredeemable in my book. They can’t even claim youth because they knew fully what they were doing and ultimately felt no real remorse.

The ONLY slightly good thing about the Hero’s is that it was stated multiple times, by multiple people that they had kinda moved away from sexing up OW shortly after they started fucking with the heroine (contrary to what the heroine saw though) AND that they stopped completely sexing up OW once they found out what the girls did to the heroine (the beating) and stood with the heroine after the attempted murder.

⭐⭐⭐⭐, 5

Proprio no.

Marnye has a scholarship to a very exclusive rich kid school, where she is treated like trash because she is poor. In the first book, one of her non-boyfriends opens with the injustice of her attending their school for free, when his parents have to pay. He is outraged. Go back to poor town, poor girl! Stay in your gutter, while we shine like the stars! Is sort of their argument for why they have a right to be shitty to her. He, and his cronies (more non-boyfriends) decide the best way to get rid of her is to make her life hell.

They succeed, and Marnye vows revenge. She’s pretty good at it: largely by secretly recording her targets being shitty and using it as evidence to tell on them. It reminded me of Blair Waldorf’s super power in managing her enemies, which was spoken about in awed tones but boiled down to having all the adults on speed dial. Sure, it backfired for Blair, but so far this heroine hasn’t done too badly and I’m a little impressed by what she’s been able to get away with. Other authors would possibly have her fail more often in her plans, but Stunich is kind.

The heroine is 16 now, and was 15 in the first book. It weirded me out that this poor kid had to navigate the emotional minefield of a reverse harem with bullies. Bully romance is its own minefield, but adding in RH and a really young heroine is taking it to another level. I get that Marnye wants to have sex, which is fine, but I don’t want to read about her having sex because she’s a baby (and fortunately I don’t, because she doesn’t), and managing everyone’s emotional crap is a bit much for a kid. I’ve probably gone off about this in other reviews, but reverse harems are a lot of emotional work for women, it’s not all cuddling with a boy band and having #1 bring you mimosas while #2 massages your feet and #3 sings the song he wrote just for you, etc. It’s scheduling equal time for each of them in your lady bits, making sure they all feel cuddled, and that they don’t start fights with each other. I think you’re also probably stuck with a lot of the decision making and logistics, because even if her boy band is alpha alien warriors, and there’s a bunch of service robots, the heroine probably still has to manage where they live, what they eat, and making sure everyone’s laundry gets done. What is it with romance that makes women do all the work? Sure, a woman should be putting in some effort, by having a personality and some actual goals, but all this working on men is a bit much.

Or maybe, RH women are special in ways beyond my understanding. Like sub girls in BDSM romance are special and not, as I often think of them: lazy.

At least this book is satisfying on the RH front, because Marnye really gets to stick it to her boys.

I’m continually blown away by Stunich’s crazy world. This book introduces Windsor York, 10th in line to the English throne and in possession of a 9 billion pound fortune. Windy has red hair, and the Queen’s his great grandmother. He’s lived in Paris, slept with models, been thrown out of every posh school in Europe, and how does he exist? Is he one of Beatrice or Eugenie’s non-existent children, on the basis that Fergie is a redhead and Andrew is at least Duke of York, even if his last name is probably Mountbatten or something? I am NOT looking up royals, because Stunich clearly doesn’t care about specifics, and if I can know a bunch of royal crap without Google, so can she. And, the Queen isn’t worth a billion (probably not even half that), so where is this money??

Marnye at one stage goes to Paris and takes a tour of Notre Dame, and Stunich has her give some exposition about how it’s about 5 years from now (April 2019), and the priests are doing choir singing. And while I’m impressed that she’s updated the book to take the fire into account, and I haven’t gone back and checked through the books, but the suddenly 5 years later is probably contradicted by other details. And, isn’t enough time for Beatrice or Eugenie to suddenly produce a 16 year old.

Plus, back to Paris: I don’t think the priests do the singing? I probably should know since this is my starting religion, but I vaguely thought all the cathedral stuff that isn’t mass or tending to the congregation is lay people. Or monks, maybe.

And, I’m not pointing this out because I think it’s bad. If I wanted to point out bad writing I could spend a lot longer on Stunich than I intend, because this book is fun but not particularly well-crafted. I’m pointing it out because Stunich is going to know ALL these things, and doesn’t care, and I sort of love that. I still hold this belief that authors would care if readers complained that their book isn’t accurate on really specific details, so I’m in awe when an author is all, nope: not even bothering about anything that could get in the way of my plot.

But what I really love is the characters obsessing over RPDR. It intersects nicely with my obsession, and while the only queen (other than Ru Paul) name dropped so far is Farrah Moan. WHY??? I mean, even though this was in the first book, and Miranda is blonde so it made sense for her to go as a blonde queen for Halloween, there’s Aquaria, who is gorgeous and distinctive and actually won the show. And sure, FM had just shown up in All Stars 4, but since in the book’s timeline that’s now 5 years ago?? Does that mean that Farrah Moan is somehow going to be famous? I don’t see how, I mean she’s pretty and her emotional neediness was fun but … yes: can’t help myself.

I’ll read the follow up when it’s published because I’m invested now. And I’m looking forward to more mentions of RPDR

Copied from my review of book 1.

Since I don't want to leave a review for book two I'll just say this; what was up with that Harper chick and her friends, they legit tried to kill Mayne and the bozo was accepting of it because Harper's father is rich and she doesn't want to get punished by having her dad's chemo being stopped. Bitch, are you dumb?! you could have died, you imbecile! Regardless, Harper doesn't have that power! How can she, a sixteen year old have a say on who gets treatment from a hospital just because her dad owns it. Gawd that book annoyed the shit out of me. On another note I might just copy and paste this.

ps. I just read the author's note and it says this will have a happy ending at book 4. How though, does book take place when they are all adults and can makes adult decisions because if they are still in highschool when it ends and then there's some shitty epilogue then that's just bull. No one needs to start a harem when they are 15/16, that's just....you know what, I'll just leave it here.

So I can understand that all the guys are hot but can she just freaking pick one and and stop kissing and making out with all of them.

So Marnye is back from her summer break with the plans and armour to exact her revenge on the idols and blue bloods that made her life miserable in the first year
We also have a prince

I enjoyed this one more than the first book. We finally get to see the FMC take revenge on her bullies and overall, I liked how she planned and executed it. I liked the build up in the relationships. The tension and chemistry between the characters is there and I love that. However, the ending scene felt a bit rushed / convenient but overall, I'm excited for the next book even though I'm not sure I'm loving where the plot is going (the sort of battle between clans?) Anyway, Idk how to explain it but it feels like it's going to be a bit cliché in that aspect. Also, I feel like Miranda has a crush on the FMC and I would have loved for her to feel the same way.

Infuriating

This is the second book of the series and the stakes are higher. Marnye isn't the meek and mild girl she was in the last book. She has a revenge plan and is out for blood, so to speak.

But she has rules and although she breaks one once, she sticks to her plan even when some of the blue bloods literally try to murder her.

These may be sophomore high school kids but some of them are effing evil. It's helpful is you forget they are supposed to be 16 year olds, because these kids act awful.

The hierarchy in their elite school gives few power and though all of them are ultra wealthy, with the exception of Marnye, everyone except those few are considered less than and follow pretty much blindly.

There are trigger warnings. There is mention of a suicide attempt, an almost rape, drinking, drug use, cursing, sexual situations, and incidents that are far past bullying.

This book was about Marnye getting back at her tormentors, and she does. She also finds a path to forgiveness for some of them after she gets even. There's redemption that has to happen, and that's the point of this series...but there is so much more to each of the characters story that we will hopefully see as things progress.

Now, the Infinity Club, ran but the ultra elite super rich, control or have a hand in most everything that happens worldwide...they literally decide who lives or dies since they own pharmaceuticals, governments, politics, and everything else. And now Marnye is in their sights. Why? Because she won a scholarship and is the top student in the school, pushing out students who have to pay their way. After all, according to most of the students and their parents, she's just a commoner or charity case. Meaning she isn't worth the opportunity.

Luckily, she now has allies. Powerful allies. But will that be enough?

After finding out her dad has cancer she makes a bet with one the blue bloods for treatment for her dad, risking everything for hope of a role reversal to her downfall in the last book.

By the end, it's looking like she has five potential harem members. One is a prince, one is the bully who caused her suicide attempt, one a rock star, one is her best friend's brother, and one used to be the top student, before her, at the school. Oh, and three of those five are the ones who bullied her from the last book...betting in which could make her fall in love just to break her heart and put her in her place causing her to leave school.

This series is like a train wreck. It's got some awful people in it that really need to be taken down. It's also crazy addictive and I just cant stop reading until I get to the end. Completely infuriating.

Oh my GOD

This fucking series is definitely my guilty pleasure. It's written like a fucking Wattpad book and the situations and dialogues are so corny but FUCK IF IT ISN'T ENTERTAINING.

I spent the entirety of this book gaping and gasping and doing stops mid lecture bc i just couldn't do it.

Marney honestly is a fucking badass. She did what she needed to do after all that bullshit from the first book.

Idk how I felt about the trio in this book (I simply refuse to call them "Idols"). Winston is honestly so creepy. Like at first I liked him but now I absolutely don't trust him. I just know he's gonna pull a weird shenanigan in the next book.

That series is killing me softly and I kinda loving it.

First, the new boy in town lusting after Marnye (bitch is like honey to Winnie the pooh, all of the hot guys are after her and she doesn't seem that amazing. I mean we don't know anything about her really, but from what we know she seems pretty dull. Sorry not sorry but she is) is called Windsor. Yep like the house of Windsor. And guess what ? He's one of The Queen's grandsons ! I mean there is no way in hell The Queen would allow one of her relatives to be named after her fucking surname. Windsor is a 16 years old boy who slept with half of the celebrities our there and get expelled from all the best schools. He's like Harry, if Harry didn't have The Queen breathing down his neck. As if she would let him behave like a dick and not put her 93 years old foot down. But ok.

Secondly, the boys have scents like Yankee candles but if Yankee candles scents turned you on every time you sniffed them. Which the boys did in the book to the main character. I already hate when male characters have chocolate eyes or cappuccino hair and damn it stop describing humans with flavors and scents. It's silly.

Marnye comes back at Burberry Prep as Black Mamba and wants revenge on all of those rich assholes. She wrote a list ok ?! So she's really into revenge ok !
But you know, she's 16 and all of those hormones are making her cray-cray and she wants to jump them. ALL 5 OF THEM (they were 3 in the first book, I'm wondering how many will they be in the last one ?). I mean get it gurl but like they treated you like shit so maybe don't ?! You father have cancer so I don't know, don't you have better things to think about ? You could spend a bit of that money on him instead on yourself. Do you need expensive clothes ? No. Do you need your freaking rose gold hair ? NO (didn't the school forbid fake hair color or I'm making that up ?)

Will I be reading the next book ? Yes. Because I can't stop. It's a guilty pleasure, I love bullying stories. And I feel like I read all the good ones.

Marnye definitely delivers on the revenge so if you had concerns that she wouldn’t, rest assured she certainly did but the idols amped up their bullying to next level.
