I've read every single page in this book and it is a great introduction to IT. I passed my 1001 and am taking my 1002 next week. I am giving it 4 stars because of some really dumb advice presented. On page 1411, they say that if you are being physically assaulted by a customer, not to call for help because that might make them angry...kind of unconscionably stupid. On page 1397, they try to talk about marriage. One of the best aspects of this book was that it avoided politics and goofy modernism (which was overbearing in the Google IT Cert) and focused on the tech. It seems like the very end of this book may just have missed a little editing. Overall though, it's a great resource for the price.
Passed both tests and got my certification. I used this in conjunction with several other materials — Messer’s videos & study guide, Dion’s practice questions, ChatGPT, and some free practice questions I found on various websites. I read this book, then watched all the videos, then went through all the practice questions and made notecards. While I do think this book has a lot of helpful info, and it is written clearly and easy to understand, there is a lot of extraneous info that will not be on the test. It is also a very thick book at over one thousand large pages. However, the info in this book is good to know in general if you are looking to pursue an IT job, which is likely. It also comes with a lot of practice questions, and drilling practice questions is the number one thing I recommend doing to pass the test. It also explains why the answers are what they are, which is important. If you’re looking for the fastest way to study to pass the test, this isn’t the best choice, but if you don’t mind taking your time and learning some extra stuff that might be useful to your job one day, this study guide would be good for you.
