I really am struggling to review this book. From the first time I read the blurb I wanted to read it so when I was trying to figure out what to read next and this popped up on KU I thought it was a no brainer. Only it wasn't.

I am in a kinda book slump and nothing is really grabbing me since life is soo hectic. But I pushed on and kept trying to get invested because the story was good and I wanted to know what happened I just had to force myself to keep reading.

Then I got to about the 65% mark and I had to see if my suspicions were correct and get some happily ever after for Hay and War. But I have to admit I did skim a lot. I just personally felt there was too much background info and focus on secondary characters who weren't involved in the actual story.

I heard more about Hay's sister and father issues than I cared about yet the info on Warren's parents was glossed over even though it was potentially a hell of a lot more interesting.

Overall it is possible it's a me issue rather than a book issue and I probably would have been better off putting it down at the start rather than spending 3 days trying to make myself read it but it wasn't a bad book just not one for me at the moment.

3.5 stars rounded up. This was a good read after some misses with contemporary romances. Believable, multi-dimensional characters.

Steam was pretty steamy.

Liked that the alpha H didn't screw everything that moved. He's a loner who doesn't think about sex every other second of the day, which allows us to get to know him as a human being instead of just a raging hard-on (as in most of the alpha H's out there in these novels).

The 1.5 star off was because the plot really didn't keep my attention very well. Could have just been me--been too involved in my other books, might not have given this one the attention it deserves.

I just couldn't get into the suspense plot much, so I just skipped around for the romance.

Well written tho. So I'd recommend.

OK.... hmmmh.... i do like the story. Brooding hero, suspense and romance in a small town. In Miss Snow hand, the story is more character driven. She took her time to peel out every layer by layer of her characters.

Sadly some part of character development, it gets really boring. Dragging and it takes forever for the suspense to kicks in. The sex is hot. Really hot. Miss Snow have this amazing talent writing steamy part.

Overall I still enjoy the story OK.

Slow, blah blah feel, DNF

I was initially curious from the cover and the description sounded alright enough that I wanted to give this book a try. It started off a bit of a drag, but I kept trying to stick with it. I got up to 25% and returned it (Thank goodness I have Kindle Unlimited!). And let me tell you, I hate like HATE not finishing a book because I’m such a nosy person and want to know how they wrap up.
But I just couldn’t find the desire to stick with this one. It’s a longer book, so even getting to 25% I got a good feel for it.
The H, Warren has potential. But he’s so wrapped up trying to get the h, Hayley out of town he just seems really jerky.
And the h, Hayley....she’s so snotty and b*itchy. She would immediately fly off the handle and respond poorly to his rough attitude. I kept thinking gee no wonder her fiancé ended up cheating. She also had too many things going on in her life before they ended up in Heart’s Cliff. It felt very scattered. I did not like her treatment and behavior towards the H.
When she started verbally beating into him IN FRONT OF THE TEN YEAR OLD GIRL, I knew I was basically done with the book. How poor of an example to start flipping out in front of a child like that yelling and going on.
Also, what’s the deal with the kid? Every other lines from the kid was ‘swear jar’ and the mains weren’t even really swearing much at all. Super annoying.
And her and her sister aren’t close at all and they don’t discuss their feelings. She said growing up it was every sister for herself because they had a drunk father. Uh, most kids tend to end up becoming closer and sticking together when they lack a solid adult figure. So that was odd. And then to be watching over the sisters kids for months. Poor parenting by the sister and poor example with the heroines crappy attitude. Also, the h made it out like the sister and her husband were so good together. And then all of a sudden before I decided to stop the book she says the marriage is rocky. Wait, what? But you just said it was great chapters back?
I ultimately gave up on it because there was just too much blah blah blah internal thinking blabber. Just useless lines after lines that did not add to the story or move it along. I found myself just wanting to skip so many lines. So the useless thinking blabber is what ultimately made the decision for me to toss this one back in KU.

Bossy. Heart of stone. Snarly mess next door.
Send help before I'm prick-matized...

My next big mistake has a name.
Warren Ford. Best kept secret in this weird little town.
An alpha's alpha. Spartan abs. Too blunt for everybody's good.
Moody, broody, mysterious, and totally up in my business.

I thought Heart's Edge would be safe.
No two timing exes. No pink slips. No hulking, loud, inked up –
Oh. Right.
Leave it to a badass to bring the drama piping hot.
Then he goes and saves a cat who means the world to my little niece.
Making me a mushy little puddle of wishes.

Wishing I didn't know his savage kiss like my own reflection.
Or how erasing tears must be his superpower.
Wishing I'd never poked his scary past.
Or heard him growl when he swears it's not our future.

There's no way this works.
He's no white knight. I'm no princess.
I need to go. He says stay.
Even our sheet-ripping nights can't work miracles.
Only an answer as the danger closes in.

Here are some of my thoughts:
• This is really sweet. I like that there is depth to these characters. I thought it was going to be a simple, sugary book, but it was nice to see Hailey be realistically concerned and upset with her job, love life, and just generally being lost and frustrated at life. And it was also nice to learn about Warren’s past and him learning to move on. I felt so bad for both of them. They both have had shitty, sad things happen in their lives but I am glad to see them learn how to put their lives together again. And together.
• Hailey is funny, sassy, and strong – love her as the protagonist. Warren is grumpy but surprisingly sweet, and I just adore all of the bantering.
• This book has a lot of good moments – lighter moments and more touching moments. I love the strong family theme.
• I think my biggest problem is with the plot about the investigating. Initially, I found it somewhat intriguing. It certainly adds a rather sad and dire note to Warren’s story, which makes me sympathize with him. However, towards the end of the book, I found myself asking a lot of questions and being somewhat frustrated with the characters – The “big reveal” at the end was unsurprising

So overall I love the romance, the main characters, and the strong family theme. The plot with the investigating stuff could have been a bit better, but I still enjoy this book as a whole. 4 stars

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! I am a HUGE fan of Nicole Snow and love all of her alpha, sexy, broody men. She makes them just the right mix of alpha and heart and that my dears is what makes all the difference. Warren is definitely high on the broody scale, but so is his heart.

Characters:
Warren- military hero that returned home for "a case". The town just does not realize his case is about one of their own and what really happened in his sister's death years back and this case is personal.

Haley- pretty down in her luck, ends up taking a road trip with her 10-year-old-niece when she finds her fiance sleeping with her best friend. She completely re-routes her life and plans to head to Chicago to stay with her friend. On the way her car ends up not agreeing with her and breaks down in Heart's Edge bringing her face to face to Warren.

Story Line
Absolutely perfect. I never thought that it was dragging or going too slow, I liked how everything moved at an easy pace and seemed organic. I pretty much fell in love with Warren myself because this guy has so much hurt in his soul and it shows.

Steam
Anticipation was the key in this book. You can tell that Haley wanted Warren and Warren wanted Haley but it was WAY more complicated than that. The leading lady is not planning on staying in this small town and our main man has so freaking much on his plate right now and needs answers before he will be truly happy. That does NOT stop the lingering looks and chemistry that is practically radiating off these two characters.

All in all, I 100% loved this book and cannot freaking wait for the next in the series to find out about the other rugged and hot guys in Heart's Edge!

PS: I received this book for free but am voluntarily reviewing it!

A perfect ending

This book started out on a bad note. Everything in Haley's life was a complete disaster. Warren was so broken. I love when two broken people heal each other. This was an amazing book and proved that even the most broken hearts can be healed, it just takes a stubborn girl and a major alpha man.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy of the ARC. This was a simply fantastic read from start to finish and what I am hoping is the start of a new series.

Hayley is off to start a new life for herself in the windy city after catching her Fiancé and best friend cheating on her in the fitting room whilst she was trying on her wedding dress, she loses her job and her artwork gallery all in one day, so what else could go wrong you ask well try the car breaking down in a little town with her and her niece with no place to go and no money she finds herself staying at the charming Inn. Thinking this could be a little break for them both they rent a cabin only to run into their neighbour who makes no effort to welcome in fact all he wants is for them to disappear. But for some reason she is drawn to the broody man who makes her heart pound and blood sizzle, but she can get him to open up to her or will she be wasting her time?

Warren is back in Hearts Edge to right a wrong he has been biding his time for years and now it’s time. The last thing he needs is the distracting and alluring spitfire that’s taken over the cabin next to him and the cute little munchkin who makes him smile. As much as he tries to hide from what Haley makes him feel he knows that being with him will put her in danger and he couldn’t bare for anything to happen to her or Tara. Can he protect them till they leave or will the danger come knocking anyway and show him his real fear.

This was entertaining from the get go with a great plot and some laugh out loud moments. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys a good romance with just the right amount of steam.

I love when I find a perfect gem randomly on Amazon. The description makes this book sound like a sweet romance where a woman’s car breaks down in a small town and she falls in love with a surly local. While this is true, it’s also a romantic suspense with a lot of action and intrigue packed in.
Warren has come back to Heart’s Edge for revenge for a mysterious event that happened over a decade ago. He finally has his chance to get justice and hopefully put the past behind him. Haley has had a string of bad luck, from her fiance cheating on her with her best friend to losing her job, and she’s on a road trip to Chicago to start her life over. For some reason she has brought her 10-year-old niece with her, (because her parents are on vacation and apparently don’t mind that she’s going on a major road trip).
This book is a great example of opposites attract, and Warren tries really hard to resist the sweet, yet feisty girl living next door. He can’t be distracted from his revenge, especially when giving Haley his attention might end up putting a target on her back.
The romance is somewhat of a slow burn, and the town of Heart’s Edge is quite something, with its nosy neighbours and a romantic legend involving throwing flowers over the cliff.
In this first book in the series, we’re introduced to two of Warren’s friends--Doc and Blake--and it’s clear that those bachelors won’t be single for much longer. (Especially since the next books in the series feature them.)

Warren is just a gentleman with his words of romance, “you on the pill or something, or do I break out a da*n rubber ?” Warren just has no patience, “darlin', please. I've spent the last eight hours watching you prance around in the hottest effing dress I've ever seen you wear. Excuse me for the hurry.” I liked this book, I loved Warren.

I loved Warren and Haley's story. These two make a perfect couple because they compliment each other perfectly. Warren is arrogant and rude and Haley is sassy and cute but she drives Warren crazy. I loved everything about this book, it was a lot of fun to read.

4.5 stars. Bossy, snarky, sassy, passionate and heartfelt; these are just some of the words that came to mind while reading this story. Its packed full with action, romance, twists and enough push and pull to have any reader cheering for more.

…and yes you will be “prick-matized!”

This is the story of Warren and Haley. Warren is a moody man, an alpha if course, who says it like he means it (he has the best lines). He's everything you want him to be, but he's also so much more. I loved his behavior and reactions towards Haley and the way he goes about things. Haley, on the other hand, is trying to move on after a series of life changing events. She moves into town with her niece, whom she “stole” for the time being. She is a strong woman with a brilliant mouth (as in her comebacks and sass). I loved the way she was attracted to Warren yet still was unsure; that push and pull always gets me.

I will leave the major plot to the reader to discover, but the heat and passion had me flipping pages. I really hope there are more stories either in this town or similar in nature, because this was a fantastic read. I received an ARC and I am leaving an honest review.

Title: No Perfect Hero
Author: Nicole Snow
Genre: Contemporary Dramatic Romance
Publication Date: 4/3/2019
**RECEIVED ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW**
Nicole Snow makes a living writing books with alpha men and women who are fragile but a core of steel. I mean they have to be strong to handle the men they fall for within these pages. Snow's stories are dramatic but she adds wit, tenderness, heart, humor, cloudiness, and sun. She writes with an easiness so the story flows and you don't get bored or annoyed. Well most of the time. I mean you can't like every story written.

Thankfully I liked this story and the characters. I really liked the theme that there are no coincidences. The Universe will put you where you are supposed to be. I also like the twists Snow added. The main one I saw coming but the side one...i guess since that was never really part of the storyline i didn't see it. WOW.
Sexiness/steam 5 out of 5 stars.
Tensions both dramatic and sexual 4/5 stars.
Realism: 4/5 stars. I can totally get behind the story. This stuff can and probably does happen. Depth of emotion felt as I read, not as much realism there. I didn't feel it until Warren's Epilogue. Something just changed in the feel.
Overall I give it a 4/5 stars. Awesome read and I recommend.

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. This book was great. I loved it. It is the story of Warren and Hayley. Both have some issues in their past that drive how they are right now. This story keeps you on the edge of your seat. There are some twists and turns that will keep you guessing and just when you have it figured out, you realize that you were wrong. This book had it all - action, suspense and plenty of heat. This is not the first book of Nicole's that I have read and it won't be the last. I can't wait to see what she has coming next.

A pretty standard story and a decent enough romance with maybe a bit too much storyline trying to keep it interesting BUT it was still rather enjoyable.

I liked this love story and the H&h. I genuinely liked seeing them fall in love and wanted their hea. The love scenes were great. There were a few things surrounding the mystery aspect that the characters thought, did or said where I was like, hold up, utilize some common sense and/or think for a second.

Such as....Spoilers beyond this point.....turn back.

Why stay somewhere you are told is dangerous with your niece when you could just take her back to your sisters and resume your move later?
Why would the sister talk to her daughter only once in the WEEKS they were gone?
Why not question why the initial witness to the long ago crime is ok not seeking justice? And why did that friend not just let everyone think it was an accident so he’d never be caught?
Why leave your girlfriend alone and go out of town when there’s a murderer out and about trying to frame you when you wouldn’t even leave her alone when it was just paint on a door?
Why would you never question the guy you think killed your sister?
Why would said guy run drugs and hide the real killer of the woman he loved? Even if they said they’d frame him.
Why not call your boyfriend when your niece is missing and there is a murderer out and about? Why leave her alone in the first place when Grandmas there? And why not dial your damn phone when the possibly bad guy is hooking up your car to the tow truck?
Etc
Lots of whys with these seemingly intelligent characters doing very dumb things that did detract from the story with my need to shake and or boss them. lol

But, I still liked the mc’s, the supporting cast and the love story.

Not sure why I dove into this series out of order... but eh, it's okay.

No Perfect Hero introduces you to Hay and War. They were okay and their romance had some hot moments BUT they could be so boring. Or maybe the whole pace just felt off. I honestly felt like some chapters were just dragging me through the mud.

Once things got a bit better towards the end, I couldn't put this book down. It just sucks that these two don't really grow much.. unless you count love and affection? Then with nothing really happening for most of the book, it does tend to get boring. I kind of wish the overall flow was a bit better so that we didn't feel like nothing was happening in a romantic book.

Not a bad read. A little formulaic, a little predictable and a little bit eye-rolly during the climactic scenes but with a great, feisty heroine and a gruff, damaged hero who eventually figures it out.

Edited to add: this came across my dash again today and even though I read it less than 3 weeks ago, I barely remember it. Not the best recommendation...

This was a compelling read - full of fiery attraction, bone-deep grief, and suspense.

"It's been a long damn time since I had an immediate reaction this explosive to a woman just at the sight of her."

Warren Ford is back home on a personal mission. He's secretive, gruff, and anti-social. When a beautiful intruder mistakenly trespasses on his privacy, he attacks without thought. Instead of an enemy, he encounters a gutsy whirlwind of a woman who makes him feel more alive than he's been in years.

"I can't stand Warren. He's surly. He's authoritative. He's presumptuous. He's rude. He's - Taking up far too much of my headspace, apparently."

Haley West is heartbroken and jobless, and road-tripping her way across the country to a new start, with her 10YO niece in tow. However, when her car breaks down in the nowhere town of Heart's Edge, her whole life takes an unexpected detour.

"This tension between us bristles, but it's a hot thing, charged and sparking and making the air around me feel too warm."

Wowzers! This was a fab story! The chemistry between Haley and Warren is off the Richter Scale! Their personalities spark off one another and the intimate scenes between them are blazing. In between the passion, there was also tenderness and care, and thoughtfulness. Haley is independent, resilient and resourceful. She's willing to do whatever she needs to get by and get on with her life. Warren is angry, grieving and vengeful, but Haley and her niece have such a dramatic effect on him and his heart. They bring light and energy to his dark, barren life.

"I need it. I want it. I want him. Every last bit of Warren Ford and that blue-eyed wild he calls a soul."

I thought this novel was well-written with some beautiful passages of prose. It was passionate, heartfelt and life-affirming. Fab read!

One HOT enemies-to-lovers story with intrigue
Haley’s lost everything: her job, her hobby, her best friend and her fiancé both of whom she found together doing the dirty at her bridal fitting! While her sister and brother in law are away, she and her niece, Tara go on a road trip so Haley can get her head around her new normal only to have the borrowed classic mustang plunk out in Heart’s Edge, a small quaint town. Fortunately, it dies right near Charming Inn where she and Tara get lodging.
The meet-cute between Haley and Warren is OTT and you know there will be fireworks eventually. But first…Warren is a grumbly, giant of a tattooed man who doesn’t like his quiet disturbed. I love Ms. Snow’s use of Warren as the male lead. The juxtaposition of the name and his description is pure genius. One might say, no-perfect-hero-worthy, hmmm. Warren is on the trail of a killer too..
This story is beautifully written with bad guys acting like they are sunshine personified and good guys who are all growly despite themselves. This is a fast-paced, slow-burn love story but when things get HOT…Oh. My. Word. Like chapter XI or how about the hot tub scene???
An example of her writing: “Heart beating hard, I take a risk, stepping closer, reaching out to rest my hand lightly against his arm. It’s rock hard underneath my palm, hot as forge-fire. He turns his head just enough for one burning-bright slit of blue to look down at me, scoring into me. It’s a terrifying, exhilarating feeling to have him looking at me that way, because even though I don’t’ know him, even though we’re nothing, I just sense something. I feel him.” Yes, THAT beautiful!
If you like sexy scenes enmeshed in a great story, get this book. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book and it comes highly recommended. How about that cover!!!
Ms. Snow, I'd love to get a story for Doc or Blake ;-)

This combines a mystery and a “frenemy” romance between a damsel in distress and a bounty hunter!

The witty repartee made me laugh and the steamy encounters made me jealous. Lol.

What was charming, though, had to be witnessing the bounty hunter slowly, inevitably and happily realize what he’d been missing until he found the damsel.

And for the damsel, she wasn’t some simpering fragile flower. Nope. Not. At. All. She was frickin hilarious, smart and realistic... and a great aunty to her niece.

The mystery of who killed the man’s sister adds an undercurrent of suspense to the storyline, and heightens the suspicion around all the support characters. Even before the reveal, I figured it out!

No Perfect Hero by Nicole Snow a five-star read that is just perfect. Warren and Hayley are like magic on a page, the chemistry is so strong you can taste it!! Both have their own ways and foibles but they both have such strengths as well. You will be sucked in from the first page and be upset when its at the last.
