for some reason I just didn’t find myself enjoying this final installment as much as I’ve enjoyed the previous works in the series, and I was making no progress so I decided to call it
This entire series has captured me from the start! Once I began reading Olivia’s story I couldn’t stop! I read the entire series in the space of six days. It’s a wonderful story of loss and then unconditional love and overcoming all the odds. I could not recommend this more!
The final act is near. Olivia must find and retrieve the Star of Frost, so she and her dragons are off to the Ice Prince Issik Westgard's frozen kingdom of Iculon. Once she has the final star the curse on her beloved dragons will be broken and they will be restored to their full-strength but the fight with the witch Tianna will not be over. They must still find a way to destroy the witch to ensure the safety of the Veil. Olivia has no idea why she, a headstrong human was chosen as the keeper of the Stars and the Savior of Dragons, however, she does know that she will give her life to save her men and their world. With the help of the Women in White, the Stars, and one important wanderer she plans to win.
This final book brings an ending to Olivia and the Descendents story. Jase, the Dragon of Tranquility; Kieran, the Dragon of Poison, Zade, the Dragon of Fire: and Issik, the Dragon of Frost have met their match, their equal and their love in Olivia. It amuses me how they seem lost as to how to deal with her so often. It doesn't matter if you are a prince or a powerful dragon, one little girl can bring you to your knees. I do like how they finally made their feelings fully transparent in this final book. She is the most important person to each of these men. About time! It only took her getting kidnapped, nearly dying multiple times, and the threat of losing her forever to make the love proclamations flow.
I have had personal issues with this series at times but I have loved the story from the beginning and I have loved the cast of characters. The suspense in each book kept me spellbound from beginning to end. Tianna was a more than worthy foe as the evil witch. The world-building in each book was exceptional and each book was full of original twists. I was pleased with the final resolution. Olivia grew so much from the street rat she began as to the scared girl to the strong woman she was at the end. She changed so much, yet kept her original self intact. The guys all changed and grew up in order to be worthy of her. My only complaint is that the ending was a bit incomplete. I would have liked to spend a little time in the Veil, not under the threat of Tianna. Did Olivia tell the guys about their mothers? Do they get to see them now too? What happened to all of the girls in Jase's castle? Is he going to continue to house them knowing that they all wanted him or another of the Dragons? How about Olivia's friendship with Juniper? How are all of the people who were trapped? Did they survive? Those are just a few of the things I would like to know.
After a secret visit with the Wanderer Tobias, it’s Issik, the dragon of Frost’s turn as then fly to his castle, Iculon. They’ve found 4 stars, have 3 and need to find the 5th. Then recover the Star of Fire from Tianna before the curse runs out of time.
Loved this series, but poor Jase. He seems to get hurt the most. And he’s the one whose castle is locked in a magical stasis field. I was cautious at first about the 4 on 1 thing, but it was very lovingly done and it doesn’t overpower the plot of the story, so it works.
Only one thing I had problem with is the location of the kingdoms. I was up late one night trying to figure out who she would visit first thinking that clockwise would be a good idea. But the layout order in certain scenes did not match others. I drew a diagram to try to figure it out. In the series: the order she visited was tranquility, poison, fire, frost, nameless. So, I’m assuming that’s’ how it is around the isle. We’re also told that Nameless borders on frost so that makes sense. Then in the scene where she placed the stars we’re told that the nameless star is in the top left point, frost the bottom left and tranquility the top point. There other 2 are not specified but would have to be either to right or bottom right. But here’s the problem. Toward the end, when Olivia summons the four, she sees them flying toward her from 4 different points of the compass. Zade/fire from the north and Issik/frost from the east. But if you diagram it from the star placing scene: Jase/tranquility is to her north and Zade/fire is on the other side of Issak: east of her and Issik is south of her.
Footnote: 1) Wow. This actually mentioned her having a period? That is something (bathrooms and shaving their legs are others) very rarely mentioned in stories. Makes it feel more realistic, even if it’s a fantasy world.
Fave scenes: Olivia fighting the dire wolves, Olivia’s sick day and Olivia creating her kingdom.

I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a great ending to the series. I loved seeing Issik’s Kingdom, Iculon and thought his palace was beautiful. I also loved seeing the diffferent relationships between Olivia and each of her Dragons’. I was a tad annoyed with Olivia while reading this book at how she kept so much from the guys including constantly talking to (being guided) the woman in white and that they were actually the spirits of their mothers. Olivia seemed to get a bit frustrated at her Dragons when they were trying to keep her safe by thinking through all the possible scenarios instead of jumping headfirst into danger as look how well that seemed to work out when her and Issik went into the Volcano to get the Star of Fire and all hell broke loose but she was doing to same thing for them as she didn’t want them hurt as their powers were slowly disappearing as well as her love for each of them that it would destroy her if something happened to any of them. I think JL Weil wrapped up the final battle between Olivia and Tianna as well but I would’ve loved the ending to be a little bit longer as it would been cool to see how Olivia and her Dragons’ lives are like now the threat of Tianna has been dealt with and the curse has been broken. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
Olivia must find the Star of Frost. The dragons are getting weaker by the day, and she is their only hope. She is connected to the evil witch and can be controlled by her. This does not go over well. Things happen here that no one saw coming. Olivia is just a human. She was not designed to hold the power of all of the satars and so far, she has four. One more, and she may die. All four dragons love her and would do anything to protect her, but they know there is probably only one outcome wo this issue.
I loved the series and am sorry to see it go. But the ending is so good. You get involved with each dragon and Olivia and find yourself seeing through their eyes. It was very interesting. I did not always agree with things that she did....after all she is only one girl playing with four dragons. But, can she really pull it off, or will she die trying??
Olivia is on her last Quest to find the lost star of Frost in Issik Kingdom, I was so excited for this book to come out! there's so many twists and turns in this book you don't know what's going to happen next you can't even guess, J.L. Weil brought so many feelings out and This Book I laughed and I cried so get some tissues ready 🤣. I don't think there is anything Olivia wouldn't do to save Issik, Jase, Zade or Kieran she would give her life for them. The relationship the dragon princess and Olivia have built is truly amazing to see how they all have grown throughout all the books I truly have enjoyed it. The ending was perfect so sad to see it end but I know I will be re-reading it many times that's how much I enjoyed this series! ❤️
I have been waiting with bated breath for this book. Issik has been my favorite from the beginning, and this book didn't disappoint at all. I am really happy things picked up in this book too, because the last two it felt like there wasn't a lot of progression, but the author made sure that all went down in this book and it didn't disappoint. I am so flipping happy Tianna got what was coming to her. She deserved it, obviously. Things also really solidified between Olivia and the guys which I am really happy about because it was all so up in the air before. My only regret is seeing this series come to an end. I loved the imagery and world building this author was able to pull off, and well...it was amazing!
Going into this series I was a bit worried as this is not something I have read before but overall this was a great end to the series,
We got more Issik which I am always here for and I really love some of the other dragons too, the only one I have issues with Jase. I feel like he got a lot more time then the other guys and was made such a big deal when they were finally together.
The magik in this story and the way it evolved was really cool, I love the setting as well and seeing more of these crazy creatures that came out. I do wish we got a bit more information about how all these worlds connect together and would have loved to see more from the woman of white (Prequal series maybe...?????)
Overall a really cute story with some great action thrown in.
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*** This was the last book in the Dragon Descendant Series and picked up right where the last one left off. I am not into Dragons and wasn't going to start this series, but as soon as I did, I feel in love with all the dragons! Olivia is almost there and only has 1 more star to find. However, there are so many questions left unanswered and Olivia's future is very uncertain. These dragons love her and will do anything for her but she will also do the same in return. There are so many twists and turns in the book that keep you on your toes. And that Ending?!?!?!!! OMG! It was amazing! I am sad to see this story end but enjoyed the ride.
I enjoyed this series. Years ago, I read several series by this author and I enjoyed all of them. I was thrilled to see she wrote an RH series. Though I had trouble engaging initially (that was probably a me issue and not a story issue) by the end I was fully immursed in the world. I did get annoyed with the characters not communicating but other than that, they were great. There were some typos throughout but not enough to diminish my enjoyment. I was yearning for an epilogue and that is what kept this final book from being a 5 star read for me. Overall, this was a great series.
4 & 1/2 stars rounded up. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader's copy of this book. I enjoyed this book & it was a great finale for the series. I felt the flow kind of slowed down in a few places, and there were a few places that left me puzzled. I was sad for the 5th dragon, I was so sure she would fix him at the end, so that was a disappointment for me personally, though the ending made sense overall. I would have loved an epilogue of sorts to show the HEA down the road, maybe with a baby on the way sort of thing. Overall, a great series!
The end is in sight, but is there a HEA for Olivia, her dragons and the world she has fallen in love with? A surprise reunion with someone Olivia wasn't expecting to see, new opportunities arises. This amazing roller coaster ride comes to an end with a big bang! I loved every single book and Thawing Frost did not disappoint! Well done by an amazing author. This book and series is a definite must read as the characters and storyline will draw you in and you won't regret reading it!
What more could a girl want eh??? I enjoyed this book immensely. We learned alot more about the descendants. I had wished to see Tobias back with his dragon but we dont always get what we want.
Worth reading the whole series and since its finished its even better because there is no waiting.
J.L. Weil is amazing bring this world to life. Her desciptions of each place really make you feel like you are there, they are easy to picture when u close your eyes and that is what makes an awesome author.
This was a really good ending to the series. So many plot twist that I was not expecting. I feel like Olivia grew the most in this book. She finally came into her own. One thing that I consistently loved about this series was the relationship between Olivia and the dragons mother's. It was just a beautiful bond that she developed and it lingered throughout the books. It was a great read and I'm sad it's over.
A HUGE missed opportunity with Tobias, I really had high hopes for him bringing the gang closer together but she wrote him off almost immediately and in a nonsensical way. The bones of his dragon detached from his body after death and burned separately? But Tobias’s human form still bares the scars from the fight? Still a worthwhile read but this book wasn’t given the attention it needed to make it better than eh/good
Join Olivia and her dragons as they search for the final star in the ice realm. Battles, creatures you wouldn’t dream in your worst nightmare and an evil witch all try to stop the team from reaching the star however Olivia is a powerhouse on her own but can she convince her men she is not a helpless maiden? Absolutely loved this final instalment. Very bittersweet for me. I didn’t want this to end.
What a journey and what an ending. I am sad its the end but so happy how things panned out. J.L.Weil takes you on such an emotional rollercoaster to finding oneself and each other that the ending was simply perfect but disheartened that it has come to an end. I read this series over 2 days as I couldnt help but find out what paths they were going to take. Definitely worth the read
I have loved this series by JL Weil so much. These characters have come a long way in their struggles to break a curse and fight against an evil witch. There were twists and turns I did not see coming that made the story engrossing and addicting. I am sorry to see it come to an end, but this book gave these characters the perfect ending to their story.
I really enjoyed this series. I'm not usually a reverse harem kinda girl, but oh baby!! Olivia has 4 incredible dragons to help and love, and she sure doesn't mind!😀 the adventures they go on are exciting and the interaction among the men is comical. Excited to read the final book, I had been waiting for its release and was not disappointed.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and volunteered to review it.
As so much happens, all I can really say is that this is an awesome conclusion for the series. Olivia is able to come fully into her powers and takes her place in the world, though not without sacrifices.
The ending is a mixture of sweet and nerve-wracking, and my only qualm is that it seemed a bit too rushed.
1st reverse harem series and I really enjoyed the action and way the male characters worked together to protect her. I also enjoyed how they worked together to spend time and bicker at other times, it made everything feel more werid. I really enjoyed Olivia internal battles and growth. Perfectly tied up and leave you satisfied.
I LOVED this entire series, but more than anything I loved the dragon heirs Jase, Issik, Kieran, and Zade! Hubba hubba... Such wicked shifters in a charmingly drool worthy way! Magic, puzzles, riddles, and a evil witch vs. one klutzy human female backed with four irresistible dragon shifters made this series hard to pass up.
I absolutely loved this series, there was excitement, tension, danger, love and humor. The humor in these books was amazing, I laughed and snickered so many times and could wait to what happened next. Said to see it end, I Would of loved to see how things would of played out.
This was a quick fun read while I was quarantine due to virus. Personally I believe one more book would help the closure of this series. It could include who was first and how she picked always in the back of her mind saving the best ( Jase) the best for last and maybe settle with him a bit more than the others. Endless possibilities.
For your very first RH it was really amazing I loved all the main characters there personalities and I absolutely loved how clumsy Olivia was. The only thing I would have loved to see is the outcome of the the Castles’s. Would love to see Olivias thriving castle and children in a couple of years.
I absolutely devoured this series! It was fantastic! It ended so well with our FMC being so much stronger than she thought! I love all the little elements that came up too! Would have loved to see a bit more from the wanderer, though - I felt like he was a little forgotten at the end. Regardless this was a fantastic series! Wish I could read more about these characters’ future!
I liked the conclusion. The answers to save Viel lies with Olivia and the stones, but I still don’t understand why she was the chosen one. I had a lot o theories and not having this particular answer bugged me a little. Aside from that the end was really good. And I still don’t know what Olivia really is, I guess she’s some sort of entity, but even without these answers it was a good series.
The first book was slow and lingered too much on character introductions. If it weren’t for the easy read and likeable personalities I might have given up, but luckily the last two chapters increased my interest. The fourth book is by far the best. Quick in action, smooth transitions and just enjoyable to read.
