Emma Parker has it all. A great job (which comes complete with a boss from hell), a super cute apartment in the city (more like a third-floor studio), a popular blog (is 738 subscribers popular?), and two best friends she wouldn’t trade for the world.

Love? Okay, maybe she didn’t have it all, but what's the rush? At the tender age of twenty-three (almost twenty-four), Emma knows she has plenty of time to find the perfect guy.

That is, until her two best friends enter the dating scene and fall in love, leaving Emma to spend most weekends alone, binge-watching Netflix or playing the dreaded role of fifth-wheel.

Panic set in at the realization she was officially an outcast. The lone single virgin who sucked at reading signals and had more experience admiring from afar than being in an actual relationship.

After a night of one too many appletinis, a semi-meltdown, and a 'Lose My Virginity Challenge' post, Emma’s little blog goes viral.

When Emma's co-worker crush, Logan—gorgeous and not interested—finds out that she is the anonymous blogger, Emma's besties come up with a brilliant plan to finally win over the untouchable Logan.

Perfect! Things are finally looking up again, but then Emma's hot new billionaire boss, Alex, comes into the picture with plans of his own and a surprising secret she is totally unprepared for.

Emma Parker has learned the hard truth through experience: what goes up must come down. When things are going well, she can’t help expecting the next disaster. Perhaps the most vivid example of this maxim’s truth is the way she fell flat on her face and broke her nose at her very first job interview out of college. As she bled copiously all over the HR manager’s desk, an unseen Samaritan helped her get to Emergency, but the damage was done. She didn’t dare return to the scene of her gory humiliation.

Of course she got another job, a marketing position at a smaller firm which would have been pretty enjoyable if not for her slave-driver boss. She has her own apartment, independence and two of the best friends a girl could ever want, Jada and Lauren. Now the only thing she really lacks is a boyfriend. At university, she and her friends made a pact not to surrender their virginity until they’d graduated. Now that the three have launched their careers, though, her besties have both found partners and are deeply in love. All of a sudden, Emma’s virginity seems more of a burden than a blessing, so she makes a vow to lose it by her twenty fourth birthday – a few weeks away.

Easy, right? Except that this was a very public vow; Emma is an aspiring author and has been blogging about her life for a while. Her post about the virginity challenge goes viral and Emma’s life becomes a lot more complicated. Two hot guys at work both appear to be candidates for her first plunge into love. Which one is the right man for her? Which one should she trust?

Kayley Wood’s The Virgin Club is a sweet, witty novel about love, friendship, Hagen Das and appletinis. When I had Kayley as a guest on my blog, her bio said she’d been trying to create a Bridget Jones type of character, updated to the twenty first century. She has succeeded brilliantly. Emma is funny, desperate, creative and goofy by turns. She lurches from one crisis to another, always with the best intentions. Her schemes and plots almost always backfire, through no fault of her own. Emma’s the real deal, but some of the people around her are deceptive, conniving low-lifes who are more than ready to throw her under the bus. I won’t tell you who, though – part of the fun of this book is that you never really know, until the very end, just who are the good guys and who are the schmucks.

My only criticism of this book involves the formatting. Quite a bit of the story is told via Internet chats and sequences of Twitter Direct Messages. (As I said – definitely twenty first century!) I found it difficult at times to figure out who was “speaking” because the different sentences seemed to run together. It would have helped to have people’s names (rather than just their initials) precede each message, and to have blank lines between them.

Or maybe I’m just showing my age! Perhaps a reader closer to being a digital native would not have any trouble sorting out these parts.

I really enjoyed reading The Virgin Club and I recommend it highly if you’re looking for well-written but light-hearted entertainment.

"The Virgin Club" by Kayley Wood is the first novel I have ever read from the author which tell the story about the heroine making it her mission to lost her virginity by her birthday which ideally was an interesting concept and she is stuck choosing between two leading men: her work colleague and new boss. I thought it as a cute story but nothing particularly stood out beside Logan poor treatment but moreso constant back and forth with Emma, and what I would deem as a weak and native heroine. Emma didn't exactly fall into my favorites and she seem a bit childish for my taste. Overall it was cute, plain and simple.

The premise of the story drew me in, but it was lacking in substance. Emma, the virgin, hides behind her blog, avoiding any backlash or controversy. She’s also wishy-washy as to what she wants from a boyfriend and potential sexual partner. It’s Logan, then Alex, then back again throughout the book. It left my head spinning and a decidedly bad taste in my mouth.

The novel would have been well served by a strong female lead and some less confusing suitors.

Blurb:
Challenge: Lose my virginity before my 24th birthday. Time Left: 23 days.

Appletinis, a semi-meltdown, and a ‘Lose My Virginity Challenge’ post. That's all it took for my little blog to go viral.

The realization that I'm the lone virgin left from my club's original pact ignited my not-so-genius idea. But what else could I do? With my two best friends happily un-single (and having plenty of sex), I’ve become an outcast—the anti-Hester Prynne, walking the streets with a giant V attached to my chest.

I’m going to be fine. I’m anonymous. I can just delete the post and pretend it never happened. No big deal, right?

Wrong!

My co-worker crush, Logan—gorgeous, yummy and out of my league—found out about my secret deadline-driven cherry popping quest.

Humiliated would be an understatement.

Fortunately, my besties come to the rescue with a brilliant plan that involves my trending blog. If all went smoothly, I'd not only win over the untouchable Logan but also live my dream of becoming a full-time writer.

The plan isn’t just brilliant, it's perfect… until my new boss, Alexander Freeman comes into the picture with his Brooks Brothers suit and Tom Ford briefcase.

So what if the Stiff is hot? I will not ruin my one chance with Logan or my dream career.

But I'm in more trouble than I originally thought.

Turns out Alex has a few intentions of his own and a huge secret I'm totally unprepared for.

So cute!
This says it all:
"Once upon a time, there was an ex-Playboy who believed he could never love another. And a virgin who believed she was cursed and attracted disaster whenever her life shone brightest. One day, fate showed them how wrong they were. Through her seeming disaster, the Playboy found he did know how to love. And the virgin learned that sometimes what we believe to be a curse can turn out to be a gift in disguise."

I loved it! A lot of laughs - awkward & otherwise!
(There's a link for a bonus novella that is Alex's point of view. Get it!)

I didn't find it laugh out loud funny. Wasn't a big fan of the way Logan acted several different times. Claire...needs to be fired, removed from the dating pool, and swim with the sharks.

Interesting read

Emma as a character is so funny and relatable. She’s always comparing herself to other women and wondering if she’s gonna be single forever. I loved the whole premise of the book and her story between her and Logan and her and Alex. Super cute relationship and I loved the dialogue. I need to know more about them with more books!

Emma and Alex

I had no idea really what to expect about this KU book because to be honest they are pretty hit or miss. This book hit it out of the park. Just enough drama with a few twists. A moment of "are you kidding me" followed up with a few choice words and the need to throat punch a character.

Was Emma naive? Yes but in her journey she grew. Alex had his moments but honestly - from one book addict to another. Read the book...it is worth your time.

This was an amazingly well-written story. I absolutely enjoyed everything about it. It was so good I had trouble putting it down and read it straight through in one sitting. This story is about girl Emma who many a year ago started a Blog because her and her friends were virgins and they didn't want to lose their virginity just to anybody. So they made a pact that they would stay virgins till they found the one. Now her two friends have found the loves of their lies and she is Left Behind the only virgin. When her Blog has viral after one too many appletinis. She blogs her plan to lose her virginity before her 24th birthday. But as things go she gets offers from other people on her blog to help her with her little problem but she has one particular person in mind. But little did she know he's not what she thinks he is and soon another man comes into her life and he just maybe the one she's been looking for all her life. But he has a little secret of his own so will she lose her virginity before her 24th birthday you'll have to read the book to find out. I can't wait to read more stories by kayley wood she has an amazing way with words and I can't wait to read more by her

This book was incredible. First off, the story. It was absolutely gripping. I didn’t know what to expect and there were so many twists and turns. The writing was great! The author made me laugh so many times. If you didn’t know, Kayley Wood is also KL Bryce who writes darker romances, I guess. Coming from that to here was I huge jump, (or vice versa.) Either way, they were both great stories. I love the Virgin Club posts. They were hilarious. On to the next thing!

Secondly, the characters. I seriously didn’t know what to expect. I loved every single one of the good guys and hated every single one of the bad guys. To be honest, I don’t know how I’m going to enjoy the antagonist’s story after seeing how evil they were but knowing Kayley, she’ll make me love them. (Side note: See how I didn’t give it away? I was about to.) Anyways, the main characters were beautiful in every way. They were kind, loving, warm. I fell in love with them. They made an amazing couple. (Side note: Again, I didn’t give away any names. I’m putting in these side notes because there are multiple love interests. I can’t spoil anything!)

Thirdly, and lastly, the execution. Not as in the cutting off heads but as in the completion of the novel. The story ebbed and flowed. (Yes, I did steal that from a YouTube premium advertisement.) It transitioned perfectly. All the events were meaningful and it wasn’t boring at all. (In fact, it was as unboring as it could get.)

Now I shall give you a bit of a blurb. There is Emma. She’s a 23-year-old virgin on a mission to get rid of her v-card before her 24th birthday. That’s because the people she made a pact with, have found love and gotten rid of their v-card. Now some information about her. She works a great job with a boss from hell. She’s got great friends, who broke the pact but are still great friends. She’s got two prospects. One is the new guy at work who is HOT. (Pronounced H-O-T.) The other is the new boss who has gotten rid of the boss from hell. Isn’t that great? I kind of forgot to tell you the most important part. Emma has a blog with something around 800 followers. She posts about her challenge and the numbers shoot up, higher and higher. Only her friends know who is actually the mastermind behind the blog. So that’s all the information you need. Get on to reading!

I received a review copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Three friends, all single, independent, and virgins - and starting to regret their pact made in high-school to stay virgins until marriage - have decided to make another challenge, this time, have sex before their 24th birthdays. Two of the friends find true love soon after - leaving the third girl - Emma - still searching for her Mr Right. On a whim, she writes a blog post about it - never knowing that within days, her search for the man to take away her virginity will become virale.

As luck would have it, a good cantidate is at the office with her - an impossibly good looking, funny, freindly guy who asks her out on a date - things are looking up! Then her blog explodes - and she finds it's harder and harder to remain anonymous, as Everyone seems to be seeking the reluctant virgin.

Written in first person with chats and blog posts thrown in, this is an entertaining look at modern love and courtship, friendship, office realtionships, and introspection. Emma is a lovely character, and her freinds and family are nicely rounded and add much to the story. There are a couple twists and turns, an unexpected laugh or two - and all in all, a highly recommended read.

Don't Blog While Drinking

This book had the potential of being something funny with kind of a serious twist. I like the college Club of keeping your virginity until after you graduate that way you can enjoy your college experience without the headaches, scares, and drama that goes along with trying to be in a relationship sometimes.

Emma, Alex, and Logan are just a few of the main characters in the story. We can't forget Emma's best friend Lauren and Jada who are leftovers to the Virgin Club from college.

All these characters add something extra to the story in their own unique way. We can't forget a villain I'm not going to name her at this time you'll have to read the story to find out.

Let's just say a few people have got some issues to resolve along with some high-stakes drama that most.definitely.

As a reader I would say stay pick up this book especially if you enjoy acontemporary story of in-office hijinx this book will bring it.

I have voluntarily read and review this book without any obligation to the author.

This was a light refreshing summer read. Although I could see most of it coming (blame the bookworm/rom-com addict in me) it was still fun and entertaining and Emma is adorable, witty and I could relate to her struggles more often than not. As the title promised, it was an enjoyable rom-com that kept me turning the pages until the end. What more can I ask for?

Somewhat Cute

I liked the blurb about this book, I thought it sounded cute. It was, to a degree. I thought Emma and Alex were adorable together. I think Logan and Claire are absolute snakes. The storyline was slightly lacking, in that everything was artificial.

4.5 *s!

I will admit that when I first read the blurb of this book, I was a little apprehensive. I thought perhaps it was going to be like some kind of reality show where all the girl does is try to sleep around or something like that. But this little voice in the back of my head kept telling me to give it a try. I am so glad that I did.

It's not at all what I thought it was going to be. I was surprised to find myself relating to Emma so much, especially considering I am a generation older than she is, which I think helped me to really get into the story. Emma has her job that she goes to daily and does well at, two best friends, and seems to be doing okay on her own, only she is a big fail in the romance department. She is also a writer and has an anonymous blog that talks about a pact that she and her friends made in college - to remain virgins all the way through school. This is something that you almost never hear about anymore. Usually it seems like people are competing to see how early they can lose it, instead.

So when Jada and Lauren move on to their respective serious relationships, and subsequently give up their V-cards, Emma is left being the last one standing. She decides to shift her blog's focus from being a single girl still trying to hold onto her virginity to vowing to give it up by the time she turns 24 in a few weeks. And suddenly she goes viral.

People can't stop tuning in to see what kind of trouble Emma is going to get herself into today, especially when it involves her little love triangle that has developed between her, Logan - the new hottie at work, and Alex - the new boss. Even more intriguing is that Logan and Alex have their own past, making the game a little bit more exciting. And of course, she is still, in theory, anonymous, but you know she is going to get found out at some point.

What I loved is that Emma ends up learning a lot about herself as she writes out her story. She is figuring out how to find what's real and good in a relationship and continues to realize that it's not all about sex. She learns a lot about trust and love as well as friendship and loyalty. She learns that blogging after enjoying a few appletinis may not be the smartest move (although it did let her be honest, which led to thousands of followers, and who hasn't done this at least once or five times before?). And I love that she learns to embrace herself as a super lovable klutz, which actually makes her even more endearing to me. (Says the woman who just recently sprained her ankle doing something stupid and trivial as well.)

If you're looking for a lot of hot sex, don't bother. Or maybe you should try this book, just to try something different. I actually loved having a cleaner romance to read for a change. The men will still give you plenty of swoon-worthy moments in the romance department. And you won't be able to help but laugh at, but mostly with Emma, along the way. I was really reminded of beloved authors like Sophie Kinsella, Helen Fielding, Marian Keyes, and other great indies like Tawdra Kandle, Melissa Baldwin, and Becky Monson. Adding Kayley Wood to my list and definitely reading more of her work.

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.

Maybe my expectations are too high when going into books, I really don't understand all the great reviews this has gotten. I would give this a solid 2.5, but 3 on the goodreads scale just to be generous.

There wasn't really anything majorly wrong with this book. I read through it quickly, reading over half of it in the first sitting alone. It was cute. I liked the premise. And the blog posts and texting were a good devices to keep the story pumping forward.

Logan was a real piece of work, through and through, but his shift still felt somewhat abrupt. We were practically led on to believe that he would be the one for half of the book just for the boss to walk in and be the actual one. Don't get me wrong, the couple I wanted to end the book with was there.

The real issue for me becomes the ending. It seemed like the blog thing was a little lost. And we don't even get to know if she actually lost her virginity lost. I like the way the blog ended by telling the audience to go read the book. But I just read the book, I want to know. There is a novella sequel that I'm hoping answers those questions, but that should be in the book as it is. As far as I'm concerned the book wasn't actually finished. I might update this if I do read the novella, I haven't decided if I will yet or not.

Honestly, I wish this book was in Alex's point of view, I found him to be a way more interesting character than Emma. But then again, I am a sucker for a main character who is also a writer, so I can't complain there.

I know this seems harsh, overall I did enjoy the book despite the grievances above. Claire was easy to hate. I loved the plethora of quotes (although I know that may not be everyone's cup of tea), and there was a moment where I laughed out loud. My friends were looking at me like I was crazy. I couldn't help it, the moment got me. If you're curious, it was the moment that Emma sprained her ankle and Alex came rushing to the rescue.

This book was better than I expected. I thought it would be the usual girl out to find "the one" to be her first. While it was that in a way, it was more too. I loved Emma, and while she was a little naive at times I thought it was totally in character. Not all young women are as worldly as other romance novels make them out to be. She owns her clumsiness which made it endearing to me. She has a great group of friends that support her throughout the story which I could appreciate and she also is close with her mom and has had a good relationship with her family. She has taken to heart advice from her grandmother and often quotes her when trying to figure out what she should do in her situation.

Now for the male interests. Logan is not a nice guy in this book. I do see how Emma could have been taken in by him. She wants to be loved so much that she overlooks the obvious at times. As for Alex, she takes him at face value at first, but is able to see more and allow him into her picture. I loved him and his quest to better himself and I loved them as a couple.

Overall this was a cute story and I was drawn in by it. I was glad that there was no obligatory steamy scene. I don't think this book needed it. We are left at the end with the idea that they continue in their relationship and it was not hard for me to imagine what their next chapter would be like.

This book was cute, but a bit repetitive at times. I actually read “The Singles Club” first as an ARC and decided to go back and read all of her Club books in order since I really enjoyed that one. This one fell flat compared to the other.

I found the story went in circles at times and the “my _______ always said” followed by a cheesy quote was too much. A few times would be okay, but every cliche ever was somehow fit into this book and it was just too much. It was like half the lines weren’t hers, but someone else’s. The characters also came across as being like 16-18 rather than adults out of college with careers.

With that being said, I still loved the book and can’t wait to read the others. They’re super cute romantic dramas and they’re really a refreshing escape from all the bad going on right now. I finished it in one night because I couldn’t put it down.

I also enjoy that the author is making a novel effort to include a diverse character group. It’s good to see in this genre.

Fun, quick read with a sweet but still relatable main character whose clumsiness is endearing rather than annoying. Emma is in her mid twenties. Her two best friends have both just entered serious relationships, and she's feeling left behind.

After a few too many drinks she posts her plan to rid herself of her v-card on her blog. The post goes viral and she finds herself in a precarious situation at work where they don't know her online identity.

My favourite thing about this book is the charming way it's written. Emma's embarrassing mistakes have me cringing along with her; her boss Alex's adorable care for Emma when she hurts herself and the way they sort out their feelings makes me swoon. The whole book flows so sweetly it is easy to read in one sitting. I've read it many times and it always puts a smile on my face. There are elements in the Virgin Club that give a similar vibe to The Love Hypothesis, another of my absolute favourites.

Despite the implications of the title and storyline, this is a clean romance with no descriptive love scenes.

It was cute.

This book really not about the main character Emma losing her virginity. Her blog is about it, but really she was looking for a relationship. This was a cute, easy read, love story.

I really didn't give it a high rating for a few reasons.
1) I understand you have to have a butthole in a story like Logan. Seriously though, why does the virgin have to be naive. It shows a weak woman character and nope not for me.
2) Alex, character was good and strong I wish this was a POV book, bc honestly he was the most interesting character.
3) The biggest thing I think the book was missing, parts of the story. I found the ending off putting, it really was not a good ending. Annoyed me, because I felt like there was holes in the story that needed more explaining. I felt like the author wrote it very fast and was in a rush to get it out.

Now that being said would I try another book of hers, yes! I believe, always in second chances.

Emma and her two friends make a pact while in college to remain virgins throughout. All three have decided to finally lose theirs. Emma also writes The Virgin Club blog and documents her life she also post that she will lose her v-card by the time she is 24. She soon has two men in line for the job. Logan who is a co-worker and Alex who is the son of the owner of the company as well as her boss.
At first I was team Logan because these two hit it off pretty well and they had such great communication. Then he soon turns into an a-hole . Alex although has a few skeletons in his closet but he is genuinely a nice guy to Emma. It was nice that these two built a relationship than led to the physical aspect the story.
The story was funny, interesting with several surprises. I look forward to reading more !

liked Emma. She's down to earth but a bit naive. She’s clumsy and probably has the most unfortunate luck. That luck however, brought her into contact with a man that she would long for for months...and a broken nose. Until a new co-worker starts at her job. She can’t seem to read his cues well and is embarrassed once again. Then she gets a new boss and things get really interesting. Yes, some characters act childish at times, but that’s part of being naive and having no experience. Logan, well I don’t see him having any redeeming qualities. Alex was the only one who I felt was mature. I definitely didn’t expect his secret!
While I really enjoyed this book, I wasn’t thrilled with the ending. That’s what brought the rating down from a 5 to a 4. Thankfully, I read the sequel novella to get the ending I felt Emma needed.
