Oliver Quick: An FBI Thriller
Quick Chronicles, Book 1
By: Ditter Kellen
Narrated by: B.C. Kinnison
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary. This book has twice the terror with two serial killers on the loose but only one has eyes just for the profiler, again! It has been six years prior that FBI profiler tracked and missed getting the serial killer that killed his wife. Now the killer is back to killing and taunting the profiler again. Plus he has another serial killer on the loose too! Lots of thrilling moments, great world building, well developed characters, and action. I think this is a great start to a new series!
The narration was terrific!

I am very sparing at giving out 5 stars but this book is the best I have read in the last couple of years. A great story, well-paced and thought out.

At first it seemed as if this was the second book in the series with the first (non-existent) book about how Oliver lost his wife. However, the details came slowly and surely throughout this novel.

A well-deserved 5 stars and I recommend this book without reservation. Well perhaps one reservation...it's not for the squeamish! I am looking forward to reading more Oliver Quick Chronicles.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is an absolutely phenomenal read !!! It is fast paced. It is witty. It gave me all the feels !!!!
I think that this is going to be a LONG lasting series (fingers crossed :*)

Oliver is a former FBI Profiler, turned private investigator. He is a little funny , very disturbed and has a little ( lot ) drinking problem!! So would you , if you had seen the things he has . But mostly , he is a DAMN good profiler. He has the ability to get inside the killers mind , and think how he thinks , sees how he sees.......

Very disturbing, to say the least .

In this book , Oliver has been contacted by the FBI to get his opinion on some recent murders. There is only one problem . These new cases reminds him of an older case--- the case where the serial killer killed his wife and unborn child six years ago .
All of that anguish, and failure comes back to him in the blink of an eye -if it ever truly even left -
So , will Oliver be able to focus on the here and now , or will be be too distracted by his last cases ???

I liked this book immensely !!! And I hope that Oliver has many , many more profiles left to do !! And DITTER KELLEN has many, Many more stories to write !!!

Oliver Quick is a private investigator, former FBI BAU agent, who is still wallowing in the grief of the loss of his wife at the hands of a serial killer he didn't catch. He is brought back to the FBI to profile a new killer that is dismembering women.

I enjoyed this novel. I think the narrator could have distinguished the voices of Oliver and the FBI supervisor a bit better. I also think the author was a little repetitive with some phrasing and it was a bit predictable. The pacing of the story was good and I wanted the case resolved right along with Oliver Quick. I felt every increase of intensity as it went along.

This is a cracking thriller of a read and is book one of the Quick Chronicles. Oliver Quick used to work as a profiler for the FBI until his wife was taken and killed by the serial killer, nicknamed The Silencer, due to his removal of the victim’s voice! He now works as a Private Investigator in a firm he has set up. He has drunk himself to sleep for the majority of the six years since his wife’s death and he cannot function as a profiler or even a high level investigator anymore, having nothing much left to lose. The sudden appearance of a victim of a new serial killer, found at a local pier, has an old colleague asking for his help. He couldn’t find The Silencer, being too close to the case and too involved, so what use could he be now?

His old colleague believes otherwise. Oliver was the best profiler he ever worked with and he sees Oliver as the only hope to catch this new killer as the bodies mount. This new killer is mutilating bodies of young women and then leaving them at piers in local tourist attractions, on public display. But, one of the cases soon draws Oliver back into the past. The Silencer contacts him personally and starts to play with him. Oliver and the FBI now have two live serial killers to find and stop in the local area! One of the most dangerous serial killers in history is after him and taunting him to try and catch him. Leaving some clues, but more questions than ever before. He is messing with Oliver’s emotions, past and his love for his dead wife. Twisting his mind and his power to investigate properly.

Oliver is now being hunted by The Silencer, but he has another serial killer in his sights at long last and has to do what he was born to do. The compulsion for criminals to return to the place of their crimes and the work of CSI’s to track every possible clue, could be their very undoing. This is a convoluted and twisting killer of a read, with lots of little details pointing to the killers and their crimes. One of the killers may be slightly easier to find, but the other has had a lot of practice staying hidden and knows far too much about Oliver, his dead wife and his friends. An intriguing read and I couldn’t wait to get to the end of the book! Fantastic psychological thriller that I would recommend to all. I received an ARC copy of this BookSprout and this is now another author to add to my ‘to read’ list. I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Six bodies. Two serial killers. And a profiler with nothing left to lose.
Some demons refuse to stay buried. Especially when it's personal. Former FBI profiler, Oliver Quick, has spent the past six years obsessed with catching a serial killer known as the Silencer. But the trail’s gone cold.
Until the FBI asks for his help on a case involving a mutilated woman found beneath the pier of a local tourist attraction.
The chase is on, with Oliver hunting not one but two serial killers. The Silencer is back, and he’s toying with Quick.
Oliver finds himself trapped in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with one of the most notorious serial killers to ever live. Will he finally catch the Silencer and put his demons to rest, or is the Hunter about to become the Hunted…

Oliver Quick #1 – This is my first read by this author and I am looking forward to reading more of her work. This book was intriguing and filled with suspense from the first chapter on and only got more so as the pages continued to the end.

Well written and interesting, the book was hard to put down until I finished it. I did not select the same person as the FBI did; it was too obvious. I like all of the main characters; their stories and their thinking.

The author warns of vulgar language but it is infrequent and justified in its usage. Although there are descriptions of the horrible things that were done to the victims, they were not explicitly graphic and gory. I found this book on Booksprout. 5*

Just when Oliver Quick thought that he was finally dealing with the loss of his pregnant wife at the hands of a serial killer, the FBI comes calling. The former FBI profiler quit the Bureau and started a private investigations company after his wife was killer 6 years ago. Now the BAU is asking for his help to catch a serial killer that has been kidnapping and murdering pregnant women. Can Oliver reopen those wounds that had just started to heal? Is this the same killer from 6 yrs ago?
This is a fast paced, action packed book that leaves you guessing...will definitely be looking for more of the Quick Chronicles.
I accepted a complimentary copy of this book, and this is my honest review.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review. Oliver has left the FBI behind after he fails to capture his wife's killer. Six years later, the FBI shows up at his door with another serial killer on the lose and need Oliver's profiling skills. Oliver is brilliant, but flawed, trapped in the past with his dead wife. Soon he realizes he still needs the hunt, it makes him feel alive for the first time in so very long. Fast paced, suspenseful and action packed first book in the series and it has a hero you want to cheer for. A great listen, looking forward to book 2.

Dull

A profiler turned private investigator is lured back to the FBI when two serial killers strike. One is targeting pregnant women, the other murdered the profiler's wife years before. Oliver, the profiler, can't resist the challenge to save lives and bring murderers to justice.

This book was slow and unsuspenseful. Oliver is essentially a drunk who feels sorry for himself. Really hard to believe the FBI would want him back. No real empathy is generated for the victims. The writing is flat and overall fairly dull. Did not enjoy.

I need more of the Quick Chronicles. Ditter Kellen is a hook line and sinker kind of author! she draws you in immediately from page one and refuses to let go till the very end........ even then you grab book 2 just to keep going. When I finished The Silencer I quickly went to search for a sequel book just to be devastated there isn't one yet.
The Silencer is filled with tragic events and deep seeded emotions that make you keep turning the pages. I personally find Ditters books difficult to put down.

In this book the author once again kept me guessing as to where the story was heading. Oliver Quick is well described and has layer upon layer to his personality. I was completely enthralled from start to finish. This is the second book I’ve read by this author and I have to say I’m very pleased to have finally discovered her as she is fast becoming a favorite of mine when it comes to this genre.

Extremely fast paced

This was one of the best fast moving, to the point, crime thrillers I've read in a long time. After reading I Am Elle I just had to see if Ms. Kellen could again wow me with another awesome read and I wasn't disappointed in the least. Love that it is not a cliffhanger type of series just sorry I'll have to wait for book 2. Recommended for FBI profile lovers.

I just finished The Silencer and it was FAB. It was such an exciting book to read. I couldn't put it down and those kinds of books are always fun to read. I LOVE Ditter Kellen's style of writing. It's not wordy and it's not heavy details either. I've read almost every book she's written so far and all of them have been 5 star books. I can't wait for the next book to come out. I'm about to read her The Boy in the Window. Can't wait to start it.

Prepare to be sitting on the edge of your seat and eyes glued to your kindle.
I had no idea who it was but was riveted to every gory detail. My heart racing as victims piled up.
I enjoyed the character Oliver Quick, he was real, I genuinely liked him. He was a mess at the beginning but we soon learned why.
Great story, it slowly unraveled then the author tied up all the loose ends. Brilliant, I loved it.

Fast paced thriller that pits the skills of a grieving profiler, Oliver Quick, against dangerous and dismembering killer

one killer or two? grief wins, or the drive the destroy the type of evil that killed his wife?

things move quickly in complex and twisted ways - keeps the reader speculating and has me wanting to read more from this author and series!

Kellen is a gr8 writer

I am thoroughly entertained by Ditter's books. Have read several now and each leaves me satisfied. Quick is a nice guy and has experienced a major traumatic experience that haunts him every day. He gave up being an FBI profiler while have one major case unsolved that is very personal. Bottom line: good guys always win.
