Sir David Attenborough
I admit! I saw the Netflix documentary first. 🙈 But reading the book, was a plus. It was nice to read about things I’ve already seen, but I was also impressed by the meaning of the book. The main message this book has “sent” my way is: if we don’t start takings things seriously and start acting, we will regret. It’s not too late to take action regarding the global warming and the plastic pollution. If each of us changes just 1% of our behavior towards nature, this means 7 billion % chances to create a barrier against the problems we are facing. A barrier that might protect us in the future.
This was a documentary turned into a book, so just a short review as it’s straight forward.
Great photos. The science delivery was uncomplicated. It wasn’t depressing. No clichés like the mother animals only hunting to feed their young. It was a good refresher during my mid term break. I read this book whilst watching football on the tv during the lull moments, which were many.
A great book for someone looking for a current overview of the state of the planet. However, I am beginning to want to read in more specific areas of interest so I did find some chapters a little less interesting personally.
A great book with gorgeous pictures that take you in a journey through the great miracles of nature. Nature that offers us so much and yet that we threat each day more than yesterday with our continuous expansion and raising needs. The book raises awareness on our suffering planet but it gives us hope that we can still act in order to do things better.
Dechberoucí a děsivé. Nadměrný rybolov, pesticidy, plýtvání zdroji, lov ohrožených zvířat, oceány plné odpadků, kácení a vypalování lesů a deštných pralesů... Stihneme to?
Great companion book for the Our Planet series. This bool included all very best scenes from the films and also fact & figures that may be too much on screen. Really recommended for concerned global citizens.
Phenomenal photography. Well researched text. Realistic explanation to people to get our act together. Pictures look like Earth is a great place to live! I've enjoyed a lot of nature books, but I'm finding new creatures here. On page 125 is a saiga, from Kazakhstan. Looks very "Dr Seuss". These pictures could individually win photo contests. Beautiful book.
Amazing photography, just like the series. A bit depressing that so much beauty in the world is in jeopardy. This book highlights the urgency for humans to do something about the climate, sooner than later.
I am a sucker for any book that intensely discusses climate change, along with having amazing and beautiful photos of nature. Got this on sale at Barnes and Noble and I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did, but it was a very pleasant surprise!
Our Planet explains the effects of climate change on the many different habitats on Earth - much in the same vein as the Netflix show, but with more focus on climate change and pollution, than the habitats itself. It mentions examples of nature recovering as well as suggestions for solutions to many of the problems.
This book doesn't go into depth with the issues of climate change. It very much is a coffee table book, but it is a really good one at that. The explanations are well put, and the pictures are gorgeous. 4 stars.
The book to accompany the brilliant Netflix series is brimming with information and wonderful photos of our stunning world. It goes into detail of each of the ecosystems as described in the documentary: frozen worlds, fresh water, grasslands, deserts, forests, jungles, coastal seas and high seas. It's a book of reality, outlining what we have done and are doing to our world and the creatures that live there, but it also gives a message of hope that we can change - if we want to.
A beautiful companion to the Our Planet series. Gorgeous photos and more in-depth info than the series has time for. However, seeing these photos in motion (as it were) makes the series far superior to this book.
An unparalleled celebration of Earth’s wonders, 'Our Planet' beautifully translates the Netflix series into a well-crafted tome. From the icy expanses of frozen worlds to the depths of the high seas, each chapter—mirroring its onscreen counterpart—draws you in with breathtaking photography and thought-provoking text. The book lends itself to multiple modes of exploration: browse photos alone, view images alongside the larger pull-quotes, or read every word for richer information, context, and background. The gorgeous photography transports you to each location. Guided by an eloquent foreword from Sir David Attenborough and the expert storytelling of Alastair Fothergill and Keith Scholey, this edition showcases nature at its most dramatic and deepens your connection to it. A true treasure for anyone who longs to roam the planet’s most remote corners without leaving home.

This was one of those books that my husband bought me on a whim… but honestly, I have come to realize like this book. It’s based on the Netflix documentary series. Very informative and the pictures are just beautiful. If you love nature, would definitely recommend! Great book to have in your collection.
A beautifully informative and picturesque book calling for us to take more compassionate and caring action to allow nature to restore itself instead of succumbing to the perils of climate change and human misdeed.
A lot of interesting facts. Scary to think about all the bad changes to our planet and what is to come if we do not fix it. There are lots of photos of the planet earth throughout each chapter. Very informative.
A great book that brings awareness of the world around us and opens our eyes more to our desperate need to take action to help it. Excellent photography. Important messages about conservation and protection of our worlds ecosystems, plants animals, oceans and lands.
Having watched the series multiple times this book is a great addition. It breaks my heart to see our amazing planet and wildlife being ruined by our fellow humans. This book is absolutely stunning and thought provoking. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and found the photos absolutely breathtaking.
I loved the beautiful photography and I only have this a four star review because I felt more depressed than inspired about climate change. The photography was amazing, and this book reminds me of how important it is to love our planet. It was a great book.
Learnt much more about not only human negative impact on the planet, but also how beautiful the various habitats of the planet is and also how restoration really helps, like removal of dams, etc.
This had a lot of information in it, very informative. Also, I appreciated that this wasn't completely hopeless; it gave sobering, scary facts but also hope.
