He may be worth billions, but the secret I’m holding onto? One very scandalous, immeasurably precious, unborn baby…
HER:
It was the biggest project of my career, Restore a crumbling Victorian mansion for a filthy rich London tycoon. Being snowed in with the hot-as-hell contractor wasn’t part of the plan. But we worked overtime, all right, And now, I’m pregnant with his baby! How am I going to break the news to him, When I just found out he was lying to me the whole time? He’s no contractor… He’s the client!
HIM:
The gorgeous American swept into my house like a blizzard, And I soon got to know her just as intimately as I do my beloved city. Sure, I lied, but for good reason. We all give into temptation from time to time, right? I’m a hot-blooded man, and she makes me melt. I just never thought that my little deception could have scandalous consequences…
“The way I feel about you…that isn’t a lie". I leaned against the tower, bracing myself for my next confession.
“I’ve never told anyone this, Grace. It’s shameful to admit to, in this day and age. I couldn’t even admit it to myself for the longest time. Amelia and I were never in love. We never will be. It was an arranged marriage. A transaction. Her father wanted her married off, and he owned a great deal of undeveloped property. I had a business worth millions which I wanted to turn into billions, and I could do it with his land. I hadn’t time to date. You understand, don’t you? Being in the same position. What did it cost you to go out with me yesterday?". " I could see your mind running calculations until lunch. I had a business to run, an empire to build. I didn’t have time to seek out love. But I wanted a partner and eventually a family, someone to leave my fortune to. Amelia seemed like a nice girl, a little unlucky in love perhaps, but pleasant and friendly, and I couldn’t have made the deal of a lifetime without her.”
“You thought you would fall in love with her?”
I nodded. “I thought I could. I thought she could. But it soon became clear that she wasn’t interested in me, physically or romantically. We never consummated the marriage, Grace. The separate bedrooms? You were absolutely right about those. Amelia and I are roommates at best.”
“Loveless marriage or not, you shouldn’t have deceived me. Or her, honestly,” she said. “And now…I have to finish the mansion, David. How am I going to do that with you around? I won’t be able to focus for the guilt.”
If anyone cares, Hero is married to OW up until the end. He is a weak, pathetic & spineless coward, as well as a cheater who is led by the tail by his wife. And to top it all of, it is the heroine in the end who "rescues" him (aka, forces wife to agree to divorce). He doesn't even fight for the heroine.
I liked the overall premise of this book. The heroine, Grace is a decorator from New York, who is hired by this beautiful society lady Amelia Hornsby-Harris from her Penthouse to restore and decorate her and her husband David’s Victorian mansion in London. When Grace arrives at the mansion she expects the workers she hired to be there and working, but they aren’t due to a winter storm.
Grace is under a tight deadline in order to get the job done in time for a Christmas Eve Party, so she gets right or work stripping wall paper when one of the British contractors comes in. He is a handsome guy named Dan and Grace puts him right to work. They work together over the next two days and get close.
After getting together with Dan in her hotel room on the second night, Grace returns to the mansion the following Day to find Amelia and her husband David, who happens to be the same guy who said his name was Dan. The storyline about their relationship is great, though there could be more of it.
I kind of felt like the book focused a bit too much on the details of the decorating and what each room of the mansion, the penthouse and of each of Grace’s jobs were looking like, than the romance or the characters themselves. I didn’t really care that the dining room in the mansion would be too dark if the painted it the same colors that Amelia used in the dining room in her penthouse. It also made no difference to me that Grace put some extra white in the ceiling near the baseboards to open up the room and make it look a bit larger.
Other than that, I liked the romance between David and Grace. I liked how he felt so awful about everything and how much he missed her. I liked how Amelia was as a person, I thought she added credibility to the story. I also enjoyed the ending.
He actually has an excuse for cheating: from the blurb "Sure, I lied, but for good reason. We all give into temptation from time to time, right? I’m a hot-blooded man, and she makes me melt." What an asshole Then, there's Paula's review and a special vomit inducing excerpt: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I am shocked how much I liked The Baby Scandal. I don't usually like stories when one of the H/H is married, but this story worked for me.
David Harris is a billioniare whose marriage is strickly a business arrangement. Amelia Harnsby- Harris is his socialite wife. They have never consumated there marriage. Never had sex sleeps in separate bedrooms. They live totally separate lives. This has worked for them so far. Amelia likes being the wife of a billionaire but she doesn't like that he is not a blue blood. David worked to make his billions Amelia comes from billions. She looks down on him. She believes David is a lower class person.
Grace Baker is a up and coming Interior Designer. She has been hired by Amelia to restore and design her Victorian Mansion in London.
David pretending to be a contractor pose's as Dan. After a few days of helping Grace with the restoring the manison they make love. Well they had been having fun and there interactions with one another lead to sex. Grace finds out a few days later that Dan is actually Amelia's husband David. She is so hurt. She quickly finishes her job and goes back to New York.
A few months later Grace finds out she is pregnant. Her birth control failed on her. I loved how David finds out about Grace pregnancy. The HEA is perfectly written.
Grace is hired by Amelia to redecorate her London home and mistakes David for Dan one of her helpers on this project. They get to work immediately stripping the walls and getting some painting down. Sparks flying between them as they work together and its not long before they give into temptation and sleep together. The next day Amelia shows up to check on progress and Grace gets the shock of her life. Dan is really her employer's husband and she is beyond upset by what has happened. When she does meet him privately he tries to explain but says he cant divorce Amelia so Grace rushes to get everything done so she can go back home. Its only when she returns home that she learns that she's pregnant and then Amelia calls for her to work on her New York home. Will she tell David about the baby? Will he finally leave Amelia?
This is an amazing story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Grace is hired to redecorate a home in London, where she thinks David is there to help her out. As they spend time together, sparks fly and the spend a steamy night together. What will happen whey she finds out David is really Amelia’s husband. What will happen when Grace learns she is pregnant. Fast-paced read with lots of drama, great characters and a good flow. I really liked this entertaining read.
Let me cut to the chase: the hero is married. That’s a no-no for me. Marriage of convenience or not, I don’t like my hero or heroine to have that kind of behavior.
I also reached 60% of the book not knowing how old any of them are. I thought the client (the wife) was an older woman...but that I think is just a wrong impression.
The first third of the book just kept going on and on about decorating the house!
Thank god this was kindle unlimited book!

Grace is an up and coming interior designer who is making big splashes in society. So much she attracts Amelia as a client. Her project is to redo the London mansion and use Amelia's name to get things done. So naturally anyone on the proper seems like they should be crew.
Including a man who began as Dan but turned out to be David taking sometime off from his normal life. Too bad that Dan could afford the fling with Grace but David was actually Amelia's husband- at least lawfully- and couldn't have said fling.
Grace now has a scandal, a pregnancy and has to keep it all under wraps... She's become the other women even though she won't let it continue.
David is torn. He is married but he's never needed to be more then a piggy bank, a business connection, social contact and eye candy. But he wants more then that. He wants love and family and a true partnership. But he has the responsibility of his marriage. So no Grace....unless...
I liked this story. Normally I am not one for cheating in any capacity. But I can see this as a believable scenario where I can accept it. I wish I understood Amelia's motivation and mindset- wouldn't she want to fall in love? Is money and power worth trapping someone? The story has great world building and you feel like you can understand Grace's passion for designing better.
Most spouses that take on a lover outside of marriage are scoundrels but this book shows that's not always the case. Though him lying still isn't good.
I would have love to see if these two would have married and had more kids.
Give it a read and see how they make it through the scandal. Guaranteed HEA.

This is my first book from both authors, and I love it. I can honestly say I was going to give up during chapter one, but decided to continue and give them a chance. I’m glad I did as the book turned out to be great. The characters are awesome, especially Grace’s mother. They did a fantastic job with describing everything. I have never been to London, so I hope that the writers have done their research well or that they have gone themselves as I saw the beauty described of some landmarks that I wish to one day visit.
This story is about Grace and David. Grace is hired by David’s wife Amelia to restore a mansion in London and a penthouse in New York. Although I do not agree with cheating husbands, the description by Amelia was not of a loving marriage, so I went along with it. Grace had not met David at the beginning of story and knows she will meet him in London when Amelia and he go to see the improvements to their home. Unfortunately, Grace assumes the man she met in the London mansion is hired help and he doesn’t correct her and gives her another name when introducing himself. Grace uses him to complete several tasks in the house and one thing leads to another without her knowing his true identity. Everything takes off for both after their true encounter. This book does have a happy ending, but it is one that ends in a new marriage.

The scandal is not necessarily where we expect I liked this romance because of the links of characters between them ; it changes the ordinary scenario: "the millionaire does not give his identity to check if the naive young woman really loves him". On the contrary, twists after seduction are more interesting. Some passages are softer, including all the descriptions of the renovations, the visit of London. Each element has a part in the development of feelings, but it gives an impression of slowing down in what happens in three days. On the other hand, the links of all the characters between them, the lies and the manipulations, keep the attention of the story to the end. Grace is an American interior decorator and is committed to renovate the interior of a castle in Britain. On site, she meets Dan and she thinks he's one of the people come to assist her for renovations. In a few hours, they get closer, love each other, but when Grace discovers Dan's true identity, she finishes her contract and goes back to New York. A few weeks later, she discovers that she is pregnant and must decide how to handle this news, and her career. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
This is a great read with fabulous characters that get a little carried away and lead to some scandalous consequences. Grace is trying to build herself a reputation in the interior design world and when she gets a fabulous offer to redo the inside of a beautiful castle in London she's all over it. Too bad a snowstorm keeps all of the crew she hired from showing up that first day. Well all except for the gorgeous man that is standing in front of her, she puts this decorator straight to work with helping her strip the wallpaper. By the end of the weekend they strip more than just the wallpaper. Grace then finds out that David lied and he's actually the client and she couldn't be more embarrassed or confused. After going their separate ways they both miss each other, but unfortunately things are a lot more complicated than David just being her client. Grab this book today to find out what happens when all the truths come out. Will David and Grace get a HEA? Or will David be content with the life he currently leads? Excellent read and I highly recommend it!

Well written, well edited but the plot isn’t my cup of tea. Grace is hired to decorate a mansion in London and one in New York for a very demanding woman. Please her, and Grace can write her own ticket for gaining the business of the haute rich. Displease her and Grace’s business could be over before she gains the recognition she is seeking. When a snow storm has Grace finding comfort in the mansion with David, a decorating contractor. When she learns he isn’t who he pretended to be, she’s not only furious with him, but so disappointed in herself. Grace isn’t the only woman he deceived though, and consequences be damned. Is he man enough to see that money doesn’t trump love? I take faithfulness seriously no matter what the circumstances so in this case, I have to award 3 stars because I felt the synopsis could have been a bit more forthcoming on this aspect.
A nail biting oh so forbidden secret baby romance.......sometimes something that is wrong turns out to be..... oh so deliciously right. Grace has taken on a project that could make or break her career and reputation....23 days to restore a Victorian manor in posh Kensington....crazy but not impossible.....she can do it. When she arrives at the site she expected all the decorators, contractors and supplies to be there to only find Dan. The moment the two meet they try to fight the undeniable chemistry between them but being snowed in and working together alone they succumb to their passion for each other...... When the owners wife arrives to check on the progress Grace gets a wake up call that will change her whole life....... she realises that getting involved with Dan could possibly have just ended her career......

Grace is a designer who accepts a commission from a woman (Amelia) to renovate her London home only to have a whirlwind, two-day affair with the contractor for the remodeling job. When the woman arrives, Grace discovers that the men whom she has gotten up close and personal with is not a contractor. And his name isn't Dan. His name is David and he is the woman;s husband.
There is something of a mystery surrounding David's marriage to Amelia, which is in name only. No spoilers, but David comes off as a little bit more of a wimp the I prefer my Alpha Heroes. Grace is somewhat of a weakling, too. The baby reveal was a little anti climatic. For these reasons I didn't like this one as well as I've liked other baby surprise stories the author has written.

Another fantastic story by these two authors I loved this story, and this is the story of Grace and David ( Dan ). Grace is trying to make a name for herself in her designing and decorating business she is offered a job by Amelia who’s married to David to decorate their home. Once Grace arrives she see’s a man who she thinks is the contractor he introduces himself as Dan and they get to work. As time goes by Grace and Dan get closer they are attracted to each other and they eventually sleep together. Grace arrives the next day and she finds out that Dan is really David Amelia’s husband she is shocked and so angry but she hurries up to get their house done and then she leaves. Later she finds out some news that could ruin everyone’s lives. Fantastic story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Grace is a interior decorator. Grace is all about work and no play. Grace wants to make a name for herself. Grace is hired by Amelia to redecorate her London home. When Grace gets their there are no workers around but Dan that is really David. Then Grace makes the mistake in thinking that Dan is the hired help. David doesn't correct her either. They get to work but also get to know each other too in the process. Grace takes the chance or leap with Dan. The next day Grace couldn't believe here eyes when David Amelia's husband walks up and introduces himself and it's the guy she knows as Dan. David wants to explain himself to Grace so he asks her to meet him. Grace couldn't believe what she was hearing. I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the storyline and plot. I’m a huge fan of these authors. “That Baby Scandal” is of the excellent standard that I’ve come to expect from them. I’d definitely give it more than 5 stars if I could. The story is well written and the characters are wonderful, even the unpleasant characters are wonderfully unpleasant. From the minute that I began reading this book, I just could not put it down. There’s a huge twist to this story that I didn’t see it coming at all. I don’t usually get surprised like that, so I was on the edge of my seat until the very conclusion. I loved this book and would highly recommend that you read and enjoy it as much as I did.

Grace was given an impossible task of redesigning a Victorian home for a socialite with a quick turnaround. Her first weekend there, she meets Dan who she used to help start the work during a blizzard. They spend a great night together and she is shocked to learn that he was not who he said he was. She is able to complete the work but her heart is broken. Dan is really David, the husband of her client. They have more of a marriage of connivence but that doesn't matter to Grace. She returns home and soon discovers that she is pregnant. Will she tell David about the baby or will she keep it to herself? Will they only have that one night together?

Grace an interior designer is employed by Amelia to redecorate her London home when her new helper Dan arrives the sparks between them are off the chart and one thing leads to another and they sleep together Imagine her horror when she discovers Dan is actually David the husband of her client Mortified when David tells her he can never leave Amelia she finishes the job as fast as she can and leaves. Shortly after Amelia contacts her wanting her to redecorate her New York home but can Grace do this knowing that it will bring her into contact with David again especially as she is pregnant with his baby. What are the secrets at play here will Grace and David get a HEA you will need to read to see
When a book isn’t great it takes me a while to get into it, and unfortunately this was one of those books, it just failed to get me engrossed but I got there (eventually).
Grace is an American interior designer hired by a wealthy woman to redecorate her home in London. She meets “Dan” and they have one night of passion but the next day it all goes wrong, Dan isn’t who she thought he was, worse, he’s more like her client; but that one night left a mark on her in more ways than one and now she’s carrying his child. Is she ready to be a single mother? Or will fate somehow bring “Dan” back into her life?
Like I said this story didn’t suck me in, the characters didn’t have chemistry, it was forced and the plot was somewhat predictable. Nonetheless I finished it.
The story itself is well written enough that I would have rated it higher were it not for my own personal issues with cuckold romance. While I understand the nature of the H's marriage, I wasn't cool with him keeping his true identity from the h before starting a sexual relationship with her. If you're so unhappy and unfulfilled in your marriage that you need to find someone else outside of it, you own it to the object of you affection and to your wife (no matter how much of a witch she is) man up and get out of the marriage rather than dragging another person into your mess. H was so weak that h had to rescue him, and even though the ending was sweet, I had to struggle to be invested in their HEA.

Grace is decorating a mansion in England for a very picky elite socialite. While she is there during a snowstorm, Dan/David shows up. She thinks he is a contracted decorator there to help her meet the makeover deadline. They make good progress, but there is electricity in the air. They have a very loving intimate weekend before she finds out that he is her client’s husband. Apparently they have an unconsummated marriage of convenience. The fur is going to fly when the secrets start coming out. Nicely written and enjoyable read. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
Grace is a designer, given the chance to renovate a castle for Amelia. Upon arrival, she meets Dan and thinks he's a worker. They have an immediate spark. After spending a night together, she arrives the next day, only to find out Dan is really David, Amelia's husband. He explains to her it is just a marriage of convenience that was never consummated. After arriving back home, Grace realizes she is pregnant. Will she ever be able to tell David? Will David leave Amelia for true love? Will Amelia destroy them both? This was such a page turner and I could not put it down. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This cheesy predictable easy read for the most part was ok. I mean it’s nothing amazing but i wasn’t expecting that and it was easy enough to read and fairly short so a nice filler book between denser topics It lost points though for saying that she found out the gender at the 3 month mark (you do not) and that the features looked like the dads (they do not at that stage) All slightly OTT so even for a mush book a bit to much for me Think if you like easy cheesy romance then give it a go but I think maybe this author just isn’t for me personally
Grace is an interior designer who just finished a high-profile job. She just accepted a job to do in London for a very rich socialite. When she arrives, she meets Dan and they get to work immediately. Things run fast and hot between the two until she finds out who he truly is! Upon finishing the job, she returns home to discover their one night left a permanent memory. She is hired once more by the same socialite to redo her New York penthouse. When her secret is exposed, the threat of ruin falls onto her head…she is to stay quiet. What will happen if the father ever finds out? Will she ever see him again?
*Spoilers* Don't read if you have an issue about cheating. Otherwise, enjoy! I can't say I was thrilled with Grace putting her career as being more important than telling David/Dan, but I could understand her reasoning. I can't really forgive David/Dan for his cheating on Amelia, but then I could understand that to a point also. But all that aside, it was an interesting read and worth the time to escape this world for a bit! Everyone gets their HEA or at least, what they deserve!

The Baby Scandal is the first book I've read by Layla Valentine and I love it! This story took us to a whole new level and into places we have not really completely traveled too and she did it with her amazing ability of storytelling that I love and can not wait for each new story comes out and to life within our minds. The words seem to jump off the page and you can't read them fast enough but you don't want to miss anything either. A must read.
