WELCOME TO HELL.A.

Rate this book
This is not just another zombie apocalypse book. It is a dark comedy about love, death and destruction, set in the black heart of Los Angeles before and after the zombie apocalypse.

In a city where everyone's looking for someone to feed on, the party boy, the dealer, the actress, the pimp, the influencer, the shady CEO and the porn star lead seemingly unconnected lives. The impending apocalypse will draw them together, expose the secrets that bind them, and reveal who they really are.

The central character is Jake, the anti-hero whose main talents are sex, and drowning his feelings in cocaine. He numbs reality with his addictions until the world turns rogue and he has to find a way to survive.

WELCOME TO HELL.A. will challenge you and force you to look into the darkness and ask Does humanity even deserve to survive?

RETURN TO HELL.A. coming in 2026

The blurb (on Amazon) tells us that Jake is the central character of this story, while that might have been the intention we also spend way too much time with other characters, not all of which are worth the time.

The blurb on Goodreads concludes with " When the zombies come, does humanity even deserve to survive?", most zombie stories ask that same question, I can't urge people who write zombie stories to stop thinking this is some kind of an outlier approach to the genre enough, it's one of the most asked questions of the genre.

The characters are all generally unlikeable except Jake and Sarah, although we're told, literally, that Jake is a douche bag he's still generally decent for a fuckboi of epic proportions. The blurb also tells us that Jake has a talent for puns, there was not a single memorable pun in this book, not a single one, he has some half-way witty comebacks but that's it, if you're in it for the puns you'll be disappointed. I did like that his part ended with his tweets (or what he would have tweeted), thought that was fun, I sort of enjoy when people live tweet things (or whatever you want to call it when it's happening on Bluesky) so the idea of live tweeting the apocalypse? Sign me the eff up!

There's a certain sense of humor to it all that tries very hard to be dark and gritty ala Deadpool but slightly edgier, complete with 4th wall breaks, that I definitely could have vibed with if the story hadn't been so very bloated. We get it, these people are either garbage or wrecks (that or they're a little child or a dog), you don't need to reiterate it so much. This book needed to be a good 250 pages shorter.

For all the warnings of how vile this book is there's absolutely nothing in there that I haven't read in at least 5 extreme horror titles and probably 10 more that didn't even bother to claim the extreme label (looking pointedly at you Scott Sigler), the parts where the author had the opportunity to make the gross factor really effective, he swerved to make the characters personalities gross instead which was frustrating for this body horror fiend.

Dirty Love

I loved this book!! It was full of very dislikable people who I found myself rooting for. It was gritty and full of sex and violence which made it a great read. Full of gore and icky people who deserved to meet a dismal end and did!!

Great book,

I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It's a bit crude but what would you expect during the apocalypse?

This is a very long and tedious book but it was worth it all 678 pages. I had all kinds of emotions while reading: I laughed, was sad and mad and sometimes I even smiled. I read this book based off of the synopsis on Amazon... It stated that is was totally disgusting and disturbing. I've read those types of book and this is far from it.
If I had to rate it on the D&D scale (disgusting & disturbing) I would give it a 2.5. I've read worse.

All in all, I liked this book. 8/10... Would recommend!!!

Zombies! Oh My!

Welcome to the other side of hell! I'm not normally drawn to zombies and their mischief but....there's always that one book that grabs you and pulls you in. This is definitely that book. It'll tell you in the beginning that there are some truly shady characters within these pages. Believe me thàts not an understatement although there are definitely some characters who have morals and aren't all self centered individuals. This book moves along and really has good bones. Happy to say the snarky side of me took the leap and read it.

Story is soley focused on the most disgusting things this writer's imagination created, covered in foul language seemingly chosen just for the sake of filling the story with foul language. The purpose of the story was lost in the first few pages and this book was tossed in the trash quickly. Absolute junk...

Zombies meet the adult entertainment business

My title pretty much says it all. Oh, and it has a cute kid too, And adult situations, and some bad words, and it's uncut, and it sucks.

Not for the weak

Amazing train wreck of a novel but in a good way. Everything intertwines. Everyone's an asshat trying to get thru the shit show of an apocalypse. Can't wait for a sequel!!!
