They all thought he was a nobody… when he was really the most powerful man in the Badlands.
Javron is a blacksmith in the middle of nowhere. No one knows his secret: that he has a gift far greater than the most powerful wizards in the land.
He bends metal to his will like a sculptor does clay, and has created the deadliest suit of armor the world has ever known.
Javron’s abilities might have remained a secret forever, until two beautiful women walk through his door.
They need a special artifact only Javron can create. But they’re being pursued by the Bandit King – a half-orc warlord who rules the Badlands, and who wants both women for his twisted plans.
When the two women are threatened, and everything Javron holds dear is endangered, he has to cast off the shroud of secrecy and become the man he was meant to be.
He must become… the Iron Mage.
Warning: this book contains harem elements, violence, and adult situations.
This seemed more like a western with how everything happened in it. A bandit lord has a region under his power; protection racket, murder, thievery, rape, and pillaging. The MC has to keep his head down to not get enslaved because of his gift. Then everything changes when two women pass the door of his smithy.
The story was well written, the character had a depth to them, The female elf though? Less so, Ayana had more peps to her than her charge. Zar the bandit lord was kind of an asshole, but he had felt real to me. I recommend this book to someone starting in the harem genre.
A young blacksmith raised an as trained by his uncle after the death of his parents. His uncle also knows that home is a Metal Mage, simply meaning he has the ability to form Sand shape any metal with his mind but MUST keep it secret to prevent assorted persons such as bandits or kings from taking him and forcing him to make weapons or other things for them. Two young beautiful ladies come into their blacksmith shop with a request that his uncle forge a unique staff for them for an outrageous some of money very quickly. Uncle accepts the deal with the promise the staff will be ready the following day. After the ladies leave and some other "normal" work is completed the young mage makes the staff in just a few minutes. They then go to the local inn for a celebratory meal and run into the two ladies one of whom seems to have taken a dislike to the young blacksmith apprentice. The following day when the ladies come to pick up the staff and a crystal is fitted to the head the young mage fines out both ladies are also mages. One is a lightning mage the other a crystal mage who can make crystals store power from other mages. The local gang Lord arrives after following the young lady mages because he wanted to force the crystal mage to his service. A short fight ensued during which the ogre Lord's forces capture the blacksmith, the metal mage and the two lady mages. He orders his forces to kill the metal mage, blacksmith and lightning mage and keep the crystal mage in captivity which of course forces the metal mage and blacksmith to take action to keep their lives and freedom. What follows is a rowdy, bawdy story of four people fighting back against oppression and for freedom during which the three young mages yield to their sexual desires while fighting the good fight because they know larger dangers are facing everything and everyone in the near future.
Not sure why I was addicted to this book, but I was. In many other books the main character is some type of prodigy that is either foretold or something not seen in a gazillion years. Then this "all powerful" character runs around trying to learn their powers while being chased by a few bandits. This book is not like that. The main character here has power and uses it. I wonder about his choices on how he uses it, but it was still fun to read.
Mages, bandits, ladies in distress and a different hero
Mages, with a different take on their powers. A town plaqued by bandits, with a blacksmith of unknown power. Two women who appear asking for a metal staff to be made and are discovered by the bandits. Mix them together and you have a action filled plot with an unsure ending, followed by the revelation of greater evil and danger to come. Little descriptive on the sex, but still a good storyline.
Javron is a young blacksmith with the power to bend and shape metal with his mind. Two beautiful women appear in his life and all hell breaks lose, literally. At least in the future. A bandit king is pursuing them and Jargon must use his power to rescue the ladies and subdue the bandit threat. I like the action, humor, and romance/lust. I look forward to the next book.
I got about half done. It just ruined it me that this poor boy who everyone thought is just a blacksmithing apprentice is the God of sex and women fall over themselves to get in his bed.
I enjoyed the concept, but the writing is just not up to par. Very typical me man you woman sleep with me.
I like the idea and setting. I'm not a fan of harem style books as they feel too unrealistic. There is a reason the Chinese symbol for war is "two women under same roof". Doesn't matter gender there are always hurt feelings and jealousy.
Besides that the magic system is interesting. As part of the series it seems odd here they don't study to perfect their calling.
This was fun and exciting to read. The villain was bad and the boy mage, and girl mages, were good. They fought the good fight and won in the end. I enjoyed reading this from cover to cover and am looking forward to seeing where our hero goes from here.
A good short story to introduce the metal mage, Javron. A mix of peril, smithing, Harem and fighting are skillful twisted making the story fun to read. Well done Rob Nolan.
Not gonna lie despite my reservations for most books in this genre, this author has some books that I quite enjoyed. Mind you their not my favorites but they are good books. The ones you enjoy in-between re-reading your favorites.
Repetitive, predictable, with characters that are either annoying, boring, or both. Want to read? Go watch the first Iron Man movie, and pretend everyone lives in medieval times - you'll have more fun in less time.
This is not a bad read. I like the character development, characters and the storyline. I'll definitely be reading more from this author and of this series when the next book comes out
I'm excited to see where this author goes. This is a great first book asmr deserves all five stars. Even if this was his 20th book it still is worthy of 5 stars.
Love the plot and your depiction of what's happening both in sexual and in battle. Though there were semi frequent spelling errors that broke the immersion.
