A short story introducing us to two witches and their twin babies who are more than they seem. Convenient prophesy time!
I liked how the mother's conflicted emotions about Eva were expressed even as it was clear she undoubtedly loved her baby daughter, mirroring that real life maternal love but also guilt over failure to quite bond... although this is paranormal reasons rather than just emotional ones. Also nice referencing the kookaburra to help set the Aussie grasslands scene. A couple of word repetitions during the action and oddly formal speech patterns could jar a little, but as a story set up it shows a lot of YA paranormal promise.

It a good book with great flow. The characters are well written and their emotions are easy to identify with. It’s got a good twist on story with twins. Worth the read. If you like witches and plot twist story you should read it

A baby in the cradle fighting off dark forces and raising the dead is the stuff myths are made of, and the treatment of a parent's worst fear had me all twisted up inside - and all that in such a little short story. Looking forward to see what the twins grow up to be!

This prequel is VERY short and is summed up completely by a few lines from the mother in the first full-length book (also completely summed in the blurb). I like the books and the series so far, but I struggle to see the necessity for this tiny tale.

A very short but interesting novella. Probably good to read before reading the first book in the series; I don't feel that it was very fulfilling on its own, but it served as a good introduction. I do want to know what happens next.

Intriguing
This prequel definitely pulls you into the story. Seeing the twins as babies and learning the secret really prepares you for thefirst four book in the series. I can’t wait to read the next one.

Leaves me wanting more.
This was a nice little story. I wish it had been a little longer and a little more detailed, but it has enough to leave me wanting more and ready to read the rest of the series.
