There’s a baby boom in the small town of Bluff’s Cove!

At least that’s how it feels to CeCe. All of her friends are pregnant, but try as they might, she and her husband Carl have had no success. So CeCe agrees to one round of a dangerous fertility treatment in the hope that they’d have a precious child of their own at the end of the grueling regimen of hormone shots and crazy mood swings.

Then one day, during her regular shift as an ER nurse, a remarkable thing happens. Now CeCe will need to convince Carl to alter his preconceived notion of what constitutes a family. Can he let go of his stubborn pride long enough to grant her this one true wish? Will he open his heart to accept the smallest gift she has to offer?

CeCe and Carl’s world is turned upside down. Can their love for each other survive the ultimate test?

CeCe Macnamarra wants to have a baby so much that she is willing to suffer through fertility treatments in order to try to overcome the medical condition that makes getting pregnant difficult for her. But one day, while working at her job as a nurse in the emergency room, a young woman walks in with a newborn and hands him over to CeCe to take care of. Then she leaves. This starts a new journey for CeCe in which she does everything she can to make this child part of her life permanently.
The author realistically describes the processes that are involved in the Safe Haven law that allows a child to be brought to certain places, like a hospital, without the fear of prosecution. Foster care and adoption procedures are also explored. The day to day care of an infant is realistically portrayed. I found the story very interesting and became much involved in CeCe and Carl’s journey as I hoped that they would be able to make this baby a permanent part of their lives.
This is the third Gypsy Moth Chronicles book I have read. The people of Bluff’s Cove are becoming my friends. This book helped me get to know CeCe and her husband, Carl, so that now I consider them great friends, too. I truly enjoyed reading this novel, and I’m looking forward to the next book by Hilari Cohen.

“September” is the fourth book in the Gypsy Moth Chronicles series. “June” introduced us to a town full of delightful characters. We learned their history and watched them form warm bonds with each other. “July” and “August” presented the zany group with so many different challenges -- both personal and professional ones. Ruby, Cooper, CeCe, Carl, Steamroller and Anya are the core group, but there are so many other wild personalities and stories that totally captivate the reader.

This book really fascinated me, making me more aware of how people come together to face unique, modern day real-life situations.
All of the friends (who are now three married couples) have such strength of heart. CeCe, my personal favorite throughout all the books, shows us so many facets of who she is. She remains true to her core. But what makes this story special is the captivating relationships, the loyalty and the love that continues to grow between each of the couples — and then there's the strength and affection between Ruby and CeCe. These two women are the perfect example just how true best friends should be. "September” isn’t just a zany, carefree time at the beach. It is so much more. It’s about growing and evolving with oneself and with those we hold closest in life.

The town of Bluff’s Cove has so much to offer the reader. I’m packing my bags now!

This was a good book. I hadn't read any of the previous ones, but didn't feel like I was missing anything. This is a true standalone. ER nurse Cece has PCOS and is unable to have children easily, so she and her husband Carl have decided to try one round of fertility treatments before exploring other options. During one of Cece's shifts a teenager hands Cece a newborn, following the Safe Haven law. Cece falls in love with the infant and talks to Carl about fostering to adopt him. All is going well until the baby's biological grandmother shows up at their front door. Cece and Carl face the fight of their lives to keep and adopt baby Ethan.

Cece and Carl have an amazing relationship. I love how they love and support each other. And Cece and Ruby's friendship is beautiful. This book was high on emotion, but not over the top drama. It was just right.

Great series

The Gypsy Moth Chronicles Series by Hilari Cohen is so good. This one was September. Please read June, July and August first so that you will understand the characters as you go. The books are about a group of good friends who live in the very small town of Bluff’s Cove. September is mostly about Cece and her husband, Carl.

I received this book as an advanced reader in exchange for my opinion.
Back to our friends in Bluffs Cove, September is CeCe's story and is a great stand alone but you will really enjoy if you read the prior books in series first. Hilari Cohen have made each one great but the complement each other by continuing the story started with June
