"Angel, you are more than a mate. You are my good luck charm. You have saved me from certain insanity and death. You are not my curse; you are my salvation."
Angel of Death meets a Dragon on the verge of insanity...
Another heartwrenching addition to this series! Armand was such a freaking sweetheart, and my heart wept for his broken spirit and Angel's seemingly bad fortune. One character that got on my nerves in this book was Sky from book one! She came off as a meddlesome wench, and I found myself annoyed with her. Overall, I loved seeing Armand find his mate before the eclipse, and I'm looking forward to Ovide's story next ♡
Angel is very pregnant she is a surrogate for her friend Amy who can not have children...As soon as Armand meets her he can't stay away from her....even though she is carrying another's child so obviously is NOT his he can't stop thinking about her or wanting to be around her....After the baby is born with both the people supposed to be her parents dead in a car crash...Angel finds herself a mommy to the beautiful baby girl who she calls Mia Amelia. Armand can't seem to stay away from either of them even though Beast and the rest of his Dragon brethren warn him off of being with her....When things take a strange turn and Angel finds out the hard way about Armand's other as well as her new friends mates as well seeing Beast turn into a big Black DRAGON....what's a girl to do????
Armand is getting desperate to find his mate. Then he meets Angel, who at the time is pregnant. So she can't be his mate. Yet he feels drawn to her, he wants to protect her and be with her all the time. Another great story in the series.
Angel believes she is the Angel of Death and everyone dies around her. Poor Armand doesn't believe she is his mate due to her being pregnant. Not sure why he didn't just listen to his Dragon.
This book hit differently than others in the series—it’s heavier, more emotionally layered, and carries a quiet sense of urgency that lingers from start to finish. Armand and Angel’s connection isn’t simple or straightforward, and that’s exactly what makes it feel so powerful.
There’s a constant tension between what they want and what they believe they can’t have. The bond that forms between them doesn’t erase the fear, guilt, or grief—it grows in spite of it. That emotional complexity gave the story real weight. It wasn’t just about claiming a mate—it was about choosing love, even when it feels impossible.
What stood out most was the softness in Armand’s devotion and the ache in Angel’s internal struggle. The stakes are high, but the romance never loses its tenderness. This one is darker than earlier books, but also one of the most memorable. A beautifully bittersweet addition to the series.
One thing I wasn’t too keen on was how a certain character from Book One was handled. She seemed like she might have an important role later in the series, but after a brief mention early on, she vanished from the storyline completely—only to suddenly become significant again much later. It would’ve been nice to see her remain present in some way if she was going to be important down the line.
Destined to be mated! This the fifth book in Candace’s series Dragons of the Bayou. Candace’s writing is so detailed but very easy to read. Her development of the world building and characters for this series makes the book attention grabbing. Armand is through with the bar scene to find a mate. He definitely doesn’t want to go crazy at the eclipse but he is resigned to it happening. Sky and Beast are hosting a party with the other dragons and their mates and a new friend, Angel. Angel is a friend of friend’s of Sky and she’s pregnant and alone. Angel, has had a lot of tragedy in her life. She has sworn off finding someone to love her because she thinks she’s been cursed. Armand flies into the party and hears the scream of a female in trouble. The sound triggers his dragon to search out his mate and the rest as they say is history. It not as simple and easy as that because there is much confusion since Angel is pregnant. The other Dragons and their mates get involved and muddy the waters. But Armand and Angel do get their HEA. Of course there are some sexy scenes between these two! Loved this book! Can’t wait for Ovide to get his mate! We got a little bit of his story in this book.
The beginning of this book broke my heart. Angel was so scared, confused, heartbroken and pregnant. Hormones are crazy when pregnant and she also is dealing with media claiming she's an Angel of Death. Poor thing is being bullied. I love how Sky was the one to rescue her from the unfeeling creeps picking on her. And then Beast offering to burn them to a crisp. He has come a long way from book one. When Sky sends Beast to pick her up for dinner at their house she is a bit overwhelmed. Another hilarious part is when Armand breaks down their door and kills the rugs trying to save Angel. Armand is so sweet with her, but convinced she's not his mate due to the baby. It was heartwarming that Ovide was the only one that talked to Angel about Armand and how he feels. He has never been one of the most outgoing of the dragons. Each of these books in the series has been so very good and captured the feelings I look for when I read. I can't wait for Ovide's book. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
Fire Breathing Armand is the fifth book in Candace Ayers’ Dragons of the Bayou series. It is a dragon shifter romance filled with great characters and suspense. It is a HEA story written in first person, from the point of view of both the hero and heroine and can be read in one sitting.
When Armand and Angel meet the attraction is instant and intense but secrets, curses and misunderstandings surround them. Can their love survive? Do the rules of old apply to the present? Can Angel be Armand’s mate even though she’s carrying another man’s child? Read it and find out!
I loved reading Armand’s story. It was a great love story filled with both joy and angst. Candace Ayers does a fantastic job incorporating the characters from her previous stories. It draws the readers deeper into the overall series storyline and allows the readers a glimpse into the continued lives of the earlier characters’ lives. I can’t wait to read Ovide’s story.
As I previously said, even though I bought the first book in 2018, when I saw the book came as a complete series and the series was done I bought it at one time. This is about Armand. A dragon shifter, anxious to find his mate. The one thing they all know that all of the Mates have in common is they are virgins. So how can this be when he meets Angel? She is extremely pregnant, but everything else is there. The urge to protect her, to be around her, to have her period? Angel has been living under the shadow of death almost to her entire life. Everyone around her seems to die. Now she is a surrogate to a wonderful couple, the woman she worked for, and her husband. Only they just passed away in a car, accident, and now. Her own with a baby on the way. She then meets Armand, how can she have such an attraction to him? She has never been attracted to any man. This story was so good to watch. The two of them finally come together and welcome a baby into the family.
ONE WILD ADVENTURE!!! Wow baby! Man, talk about a thrilling. All the events and emotions running rampant and thrusting this baby to life spectacularly. We have foes to fight, enemies to conquer and people to save. Just another day in paradise. You have all the drama, suspense and danger that keeps nipping at your heels undaunted. The characters are solid with individual traits and qualities that balance and blend, playing off one another brilliantly. The scenes are so vivid and descriptive as it hustles and bustles and spins, thrusting this bad boy together flawlessly. Candace pulls us into her imagination weaving a world around us until everything else ceases to exist. I can't wait for the next installment. I'll be the bald woman whose pulling out her hair waiting to get my hands on it. An award winning job Candace, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
Book 5 in this great series of Dragons. This time it’s Armand’s turn. I just knew that the course of true love never runs true. As his interest in Angel goes from strength to strength, her feelings for him are all over the place. Still reeling from the nickname, Angel of Death, coined from a journalist who did background on her. As they flirt around each other, his friends and hers tell them to back off as they believe they aren’t mates. Will fate be true and they are mates, despite her baby (read the story)? Or will Armand succumb to the insanity of the eclipse and all will be lost? I loved Armand but felt that Beast and Sky needed a really bad talking to for interfering between Angel and Armand.
Armand knows he must have a mate somewhere he just seems to have been searching forever for her. Then he meets Angel She has had a load of bad luck everyone she has ever loved has died in fact people call her the angel of death. He is instantly attracted but can she be his mate when she is pregnant to another male. There is a secret about the daughter she is carrying though and even though Armand will be put down if he doesn't find a mate he can't resist her. Will they make a life together and is she in fact his mate You will need to read to see This is another fast paced short read in this wonderful series and though each book is about a seperate couple I would recommend that you read the entire series
Armand is an old dragon who has given up hope for a mate. With the coming eclipse, he'll fall victim to mateless madness. Fellow dragons, now mated and happy, urge him to keep trying, but he'd rather spend time with the young unwed momma-to-be who visits her dragon-mated friends in the swamp. He honestly feels for her, but how can she be his fated if she's pregnant with another man's child? A better understanding of his Angel's real story, the well-intended advice from fellow dragons and their mates, and a smidgeon of dragon moonshine have an old dragon learnin' a new trick or two, and Fate delivers the longed-for HEA in the nick of time. Whooo-eee!
I totally loved this book. I got me laughing out loud on the first few pages. Hilarious! Armand doesn't not what to do. He is instantly attracted to Angel, a 8 and a half month pregnant woman! His dragon furiously tries to forcing to go to her but she is not his mates. She can't be because his mate should be a virgin. Angel is a gothic woman, carrying a big secret. The last thing she expects is to be so attracted to her new friend 's crazy friend. Fantastic plot, the story flows easily and gets you hooked from the very beginning. Highly recommended! PS: cant wait for Ovine's story!!!!
Fire Breathing Armand (Dragons of the Bayou Book 5)
This is the first of this series I have read. I found that it is a wonderful story with a great storyline! On top of this the author, Candace Ayers, has. introduced a new twist! The enemy of the dragons being their own home world causing an eclipse of our own sun, the means of their destruction unless they can find themselves a true virgin mate! Great story to take now. But you may enjoy starting with the first book of this series as ,from this book, each, even though the story is in itself, complete, leads you to the next. Now I get to go back and locate the rest of the series's books to read!
I understand they need drama or readers will get bored but there is other ways to have drama
I'm trying so hard to like this writer but not sure how many more self absorb, selfish, gossipy, nosey in your business women I can handle. What's that old saying "With friends like that (Sky) who needs enemies" I understand they need drama or readers will get bored but there is other ways to have drama without the women in the book being such stupid idiots. Out of the 5 series I've read so far I liked 6 books, I guess I really just need to find a new author instead ok just hitting new book
Armand and Angel are soulmates that meet while Angel is a surrogate at 8 1/2 months pregnant for a couple that is killed in an automobile accident. Angel is also dubbed as “Killer Angel” it seems everyone close to Angel from her parents, grandmother, uncles, boyfriends, teachers and close friends and ministers anyone who gets closer to Angel gets dies, or so it seems. When the parents of the baby she is carrying are killed, she decides to keep the little girl, after she finds out she is Armand’s mate. Great read!
Fire Breathing Armand,Dragons of the Bayou, Book 5.
Wow! Just finished and absolutely loved it! I've read the previous books in this series and I have to say this is my favourite ! Armand is the Dragon that needs the strong alcohol for the other dragons that actually works on them. Angel is a heavily pregnant young woman due to no fault of her own known as Angel of Death. This is their story. In my opinion the best in the series, but we have to wait until Ovide has his story, before we can be certain! A great story from another great series from this writer.
After a few misunderstandings, a curse, and a baby, Armand finds his mate. Great story! Lots of interaction from the characters in the prior books which makes it one big happy and well-meaning meddling family story. This series just keeps on giving me a good laugh with a nice dose steamy hotness. Great series! I recommend starting with book one just to be a little familiar with the characters since it really is a family with lots of interaction and good times. I can't wait to see what happens next with Ovide. Bring on the dragons!
I fell totally in love with Armand and Angel's romance. This is a shorter length read but it is jam packed with intense emotions. The story was interesting, quickly paced an very engaging. I was very quickly pulled into this book and I found myself anxiously rooting for this couple. Drama, angst and sweetness are paired with sizzling steam to create a completely delightful read. This is my freely posted, frank review.
Angel is very pregnant and was acting as a surrogate but the parents have died, which makes her feel ashamed and enforces in her mind that the nickname Angel of Death is appropriate. Armand is a dragon searching for his mate, who must be a virgin. Obviously if Angel is pregnant then she can't be one. There are several miscommunications and misunderstandings. A good read.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
ARC review For honest review. Awesome story 10 stars Angel arceneaux is pregnant and has been called the caller of death and after the death of Amie and her husband she starting to believe it but when Sky wants to become her friend she'll take no as a answer. Then she meets Armand at on of the parties .
What must it feel like to believe you are the "Angel of Death"? That is what Angel has felt for a long time. Her new friends/family believe it is hogwash. Armand believes he won't survive due to a madness of unmated dragons. He is struck with "Love at First Sight".
The two are pulled together while being pulled apart.
When the animal within knows what is meant to be before the head understands.
When Armand and Angel meet, his dragon knows her as his mate, but because she is pregnant, he knows she can not be. Follow along as Candace spins a tale of heartache, love, and redemption.
I loved that this one had such a mystery about it and it caused Armand to question all that he has been told.
Angel is a woman with such a sad background. You wanted her to finally have it all and be happy. For most of the book she is looking to be left alone but Armand can't allow that, even though he doesn't understand why not.
Fire Breathing Armand: Dragons of the Bayou Book 5 By Candace Ayers Kindle unlimited purchase Armand is a dragon shifter looking for his mate. But he is falling for Angel. A very pregnant Angel. So she can't be a dragon mate. Each book in the series has a new couple with a HEA.
Fire Breathing Armand, book 5 of the Dragons of the Bayou series brings in Angel. I adore her character. She isn't who I thought she'd be. She's so much more. Armand really finds the perfect mate. There are it's of bumps along the way. Love this series more with each book.
Each book in this series gets better. Angel has a terrible past and is pregnant to boot. Armand’s instincts say she is his mate but it is impossible, or is it? This is a great read. I freely reviewed this book.
And better these characters are fun to visit with and there like having a good family that interferes left and right but bring it around and the romance is killer
I enjoyed reading this book 📚, the story has a great storyline. The interaction and chemistry between Angel and Armand is wonderful. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy and I voluntarily leave this review.
