Rate this book
Five hundred years before the events of The Keeper Chronicles, the world of Tranthaea lies in an unstable peace. He has spent his entire life struggling to learn how to fit in with “normal” society and in spite of his unique condition and upbringing, Gabriel has managed to achieve a survivable status quo. But Gabriel has started having dreams; dreams that seem just as real as the world he lives in and studies so closely. As events start to outpace the careful control he has on his life, Gabriel finds himself pulled to a new world; a world that has never seen a Human.Together with his border collie, Antigone, Gabriel must figure out how to navigate another world with challenges unlike any he’s faced before. About the author

J.R. Vikse

J.R. Vikse is a Canadian author, who, after years of imagining stories using nothing but his brain and a superfluous pile of Lego, finally decided to try his hand at writing them down. Whether it works out or not is up to you. He was an early reader, since there wasn't ever much else to do during Canadian winters, but he didn't get into serious writing until his 20s. Jason wrote his first short story in 2008, and has pecked away at the keyboard ever since. He published his first book, The Lazy Postman, in May of 2012, and always has more projects on the go than he probably should.
When he isn't writing, which isn't often, he can be found onstage, where he employs other forms of story-telling as a director and actor, mostly in the genre of musical theatre. He has directed or performed in seventeen productions in three countries over the last nine years.
He currently lives in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

I have read all of this authors books and enjoyed them immensely. So much so that I am on my second go-around with the captivating world of Tranthaea. This time I am reading them in chronological order. It’s interesting to see the names of people, cities and languages develop that play a huge part in the later books. Each time I sit down to read it’s like connecting with old friends. There’s a great line in the book that says “They are not my kind, but they are my people. “ This perfectly sums up my feelings and I can’t recommend this treasure of a book enough.
