Oh. My. Goodness. This was AMAZING. This is most definitely being added to my 'favorite comics to read every year/summer shelf'. It was soo perfect and the mid 2000's vibes were lovely since I really like reading cutesy comics written in the early-mid 2000's. The character development and boosted confidence in both of the characters was very well-written and added soo much to the story of Bailey and Gannet. The second 5 star read of 2024!
This 'book' is a 'web comic', my first and I really enjoyed it. It is a comic so things are drawn and it is MM romance so if you cant handle that don't read the book. The story is of Gannet, a high school boy who suddenly grows wings and his friend (who is a bird lover) helps him cope and figure out what is going on. They end up in a relationship and have typical relationship drama.
The illustrations convey an amazing amount of emotion, simple black and white line drawings but they are amazing and really do add to the story.
This story and art was amazing, if I could give it 10 stars I would. Had me laughing and crying and just had amazing character development. Bailey and Gannet are just perfect and they grew up so much from the start. I also really enjoyed the folklore aspect and seeing the other world. Mix of webtoons and avialaecomic.com. Also highly recommend The Hunt and River St as well, I read these first but couldn't find them on goodreads.
this book is absolutely beautiful and wholesome i just absolutely love this book i wish i could read it again for the first time. 10/10 would recommend and the ending is so tea. i just love this book. and the plot is soo interesting i was absolutely hooked ive read it for the 2nd time already and it juswt warms my heart. WARNING HAS NSFW SCENES MIGHT BE UNCENSORED MIGHT NOT HAVE A LIGHT SABER but other than that the book was a beautiful experience
i've read this one so long ago (it was still updating at the time i think) and i'm pretty sure i had never finished the last chapter. so when it came back to tickle my mind, i jumped on the occasion to read it a second time (and finish it for good !)
i enjoyed it just as much as i did the first time. the characters are very endearing and have personality depth and real character development. in a story of that lenght, i was a bit worried they would not have a lot of time to evolve and grow but i'm really glad i was wrong. the universe is really great, rich and well developed and explained to the reader, while still managing to not overwhelm you with too many details on the political situation of the avialae or their history for exemple (which i feel like a lot of independant comic artists tend to do because they have so much in their heads and want people to know all about it, even if it makes the reading experience too much like a history lesson) the art is so pretty, and i loved how the black and white was done, the coloring gives it a "soft" feeling that goes really well with Gannet and Bailey's relationship and general ambiance of the story, and it gives us some really gorgeous illustrations
