The monsters are everywhere, but Marsh only wants one—and he has a three-week headstart.
Kearick, Marsh’s former boss, is in league with the raiders, and he’s fled to another of the Four Caverns.
With Roeglin, Gustav and her usual team of troublemakers, Marsh pursues him from Kerrenin’s Ledge to a waystation on the edge of the Devastation that used to be Paris... only to find he’s already gone.
Before they can chase him further, the team must save the waystation, discover the fate of an overdue caravan, and survive the tunnels leading to Dimanche.
Can the team survive the dangers of the surface world and an increasingly neglected trade tunnel to reach the settlement, before Kearick sells it out to the raiders?
Born in Far North Queensland, I ended up being dragged over most of the state before the age of ten--and then into the Northern Territory and back, so that I attended four different primary schools and two high schools by graduation. In a country that inspires the imagination, and in towns that made me dream of worlds beyond my own, I started writing early, and reading voraciously.
In high school, I discovered writers like Anne McCaffrey, Harry Harrison, John Christopher, Douglas Hill and Alan Dean Foster. They kept me company--and semi-sane--through most of my young adult years, and beyond. I’ve done time in the Royal Australian Air Force, worked as a governess and teacher, and been an analyst, and, all that time, I kept writing, and exploring both my worlds and those I was privileged to be invited to share. Now, you can find my stories at most of the major distributors. Thank you, for sharing this part of my journey with me.
These where really good books. I could kind of tell you were struggling at the end but barely. Take a break and then finish the story. It's not really a cliff hanger but close. Marsh has to find all those people and we need to find out who the bad guys are, what were they trying to do by raiding the caverns and where having they been hiding. The was no conclusion. No fair
The journey continues, and our characters’ skills also continue to improve and expand. I’m enjoying this series, and find the characters fascinating. So, where is book 5? Not too far away, I hope!
I absolutely love the Magic under Paris series, and Trading Under Firelight, book 4 of this series, is a perfect example as to why I do.
The characters throughout these books are well rounded, and with sufficient depths that there's always more to discover, as Marsh shows very well.
There's a wonderful mix of so many types of magic used in the series, but I have to confess it's the animal companions that I enjoy so very much here.
In this book, Marsh's companion, Mordant, really shows that, from their bargain at the beginning, when they first met, to this point in the story, Mordant has developed so much, that she's a perfect partner for Marsh - although I do think that Roeglin might have something to say about that, one day! Lol
Aside from the animal companions, the plotline in each book is consistently good and, so far, has revealed new things about what's really going on in the Caverns.
I'm loving learning about all the types of mushrooms that the authors have used in these stories, too, and it's fascinating to see what's being used for different purposes!
Marsh still has a long way to travel, I believe, and with Tamlin and Aisha, her newly adopted family, allowed to travel with her, at last, I can't wait to see what new adventures they'll have!
Fortunately, when I looked at my reading list, it told me that I'll be able to go straight onto book five: Trading in Shroomlight, next!
Action, adventure, animals, kids, and Magic are guaranteed to make a great series and proud can be found in this series. Marsh continues to.follow her old boss while working to open up the old trade routes and prepare for protection along the way. There is never a dull moment but plenty of surprises along the way .
If you read the previous books on this series there's no doubt you know by now how expertly the plot expands and forms an iron grip on your desire too keep turning the digital page. Out not,go to the beginning and get Stay, just be sure you don't have anything planned for the next couple of hours as you might just have some difficulty pulling yourself away from the story!
To the authors: 🎉 Great job on another great book 📙 that just adds to the series 📚 and the universe 🌃 it was built from!
Another awesome book in the Magic Below Paris series! If you haven't started reading this series, how's the time to start. You won't regret it. This series has it all, engaging characters that you will love, plenty of action and best of all, MAGIC. Different forms of magic too. I just love this series and can't wait for the next one! Keep churning out the awesome stories guys!
This series is really a great one. I love how kind hearted and selfless Marsh is as a character. I also love her ever expanding self-chosen family, both the humans and the animals. I hope to see more of them and their adventures now that they are finally all together.
I want the story to finish. Whenever these come in I stop whatever I am reading and start these. This is a wonderful story and I what it to continue until the end. What happens next?
This is a great series. I love everything about it, the characters, the setting, the story line, etc. I am really hoping that this is not the last book in the series and the author graces us with more. I will definitely keep looking for more of her books.
Intriguing, Captivating, Adventure, Action and Family, this series seems to have it all and more. Absolutely loving the characters and how they feel like family. Bring on the next book.
The books keep you entertained. You want to never stop reading them so you can find out what will happen next. I am looking forward to continue the story.
