Cowboy Fairytales #11

The Other Princess: The Next Generation

Rate this book
Princess Margaret hasn’t been to her homeland Glorvaird or the palace where she grew up in over a decade. And for good reason—a secret reason no one knows. But when her twin sister travels across the ocean to the family’s Texas ranch to beg Maggie to trade places with her, she can’t refuse. If Maggie is found out, it’ll be a royal scandal of epic proportions.

Luc Moreno has spent years rebuilding the family legacy his father tore apart. He needs the help of a princess or he’ll risk losing everything he’s worked for.

As Maggie slips back into the world of palace intrigue, power and deception—pretending to be her sister—she finds herself falling for the handsome politician. But will Luc still want her when he discovers her true identity?

Lacy Williams wishes her writing career was more like what you see on Hallmark movies: dreamy brainstorming from a French chateau or a few minutes at the computer in a million-dollar New York City penthouse. In reality, she’s up before the sun, putting words on the page before her kids wake up for the day. Those early-morning and late-night writing sessions add up, and Lacy has published fifty books in almost a decade, first with a big five publisher and then as an indie author. When she needs to refill the well, you can find Lacy birdwatching, gardening, biking with the kiddos, or walking the dog. disappointed

I don’t like books that bring up old characters that lost their happily ever after. It doesn’t matter to me if in a future book they get back together. I don’t want to see it to begin with. Yes it’s real life, but I don’t read this genre for real life. I get enough real life. I read this genre to escape for a bit. If you need a displaced/separated family then create someone you haven’t already bonded your reader with. It’s a betrayal to your reader.

I can’t in good conscience recommend this book. At QualiTea Books we pride ourselves in always sharing books that have a happily ever after and we cannot guarantee that with this book. We have enjoyed Lacy Williams books in the past, in fact our favorite being the 1st generation book of this series and parents of the princess in this book. We gave Once Upon a Cowboy five stars mainly because of the beautiful happy ending it had, only to discover in this book that they did not have a HEA. It is heartbreaking to read a book and love the characters and then think the rest of the series will provide that same joy only to read this book and discover that is not true.
I am very surprised by all the positive reviews because I figured more people would be upset by this ending for the first book in this series. If you have read the first ten books in the series, stop there! Those have happy endings that will bring you joy. I would not recommend you continue the series or read this book because it casts a negative view on the rest of the series.

The Other Princess

This was a sweet romance story between a Princess in hiding, Maggie, and her sister’s friend Luc. Maggie has swapped places with her twin sister. Maggie has lived on a ranch with her father in America since a terrifying childhood experience at the age of 12 while her sister remained with their mother in their homeland. Luc has been friends with her sister for many years and notices the swap. He helps the Princess to complete her obligations in the absence of her sister. What happens when they fall in love?

book 11

I was really confused with the people in this book! When did Gideon and Ally separate, wasn’t Margret Ally sister, when did Margret have a twin sister? And it didn’t mention in the other books about Gideon was back at the ranch in Texas. And Margret dad passed away and she got engaged.
Unless Margret and Tirith twins from Ally and Gideon?

Good book

I enjoyed reading this book. The story is refreshing and enjoyable to read. You are going to want to keep reading to see how it ends. That is what I did. Looking forward to the next book.

The other princess

More than a simple twin switch, this book touches on how seemingly minor issues can cause deep trauma for years. I really liked how Maggie faced her fears with the support of a loving family and found love in the process.

Good story

A story with Maggie, a daughter of Gideon & Alessandra. Her twin asks Maggie to fill in for her for 10 days while she took a break from her appointments.
Maggie spent years on the ranch in TX with her father. She'd avoided the social life @ the castle.
