Laurie Blalock was born on 1958 in Texas, USA. She started writing at age eight. She credits her father, Fred Blalock, as the guiding force behind her career. She can't remember a time when she didn't want to write. She even went to nursing school so she could have a schedule flexible enough to allow her to write on the side. She nursed for 20 years, working in a variety of settings from the newborn nursery to the recovery room, to dialysis. But she never lost her desire to write. She sold her first book in 1994 as Laura Anthony, but later discovered she had a flair for comedy and branched out under the pseudonym Lori Wilde. She has achieved a lifelong dream and now pursues writing fiction full-time.
First married with Anthony Moeller, now she is married with Bill Vanzura, her own real-life hero. She continued living in her native Texas, with a red heeler/Australian shepherd dog, Cinnamon, and four ducks, Quacker, Big Guy, Affleck, and Sheepidy. She is an adventuresome, she traveled Europe as a teenager, hiked volcanoes in Hawaii, trod on glaciers in Alaska, shot white-water rapids, water-skied, snow-skied, raced all-terrain vehicles, bodysurfed in the Gulf of Mexico, and photographed grizzly bears in Yellowstone. She's taken flying lessons, rode in a hot-air balloon, completed two marathons, and performed with a professional jazz band.

Loved it!
This was a fun read. Shy librarian Katie, who dreams of a different career in law enforcement, reconnects with the unrequited love of her life, Truman, when he rescues her from a mugger. To overcome her fears and self-doubt, Katie draws courage and strength through her favorite fictional character, Tess. Truman is a detective who loves his job and has no time for a relationship. What happens when Katie helps Truman on an undercover operation is full of flirty fun, humor, suspense and an awakening of feelings neither ever expected.

In Texas Rascals #7 Truman West is a detective who values his profession above all else. His work is number one in his life. Because of this he has no life outside of his work. He had a fiancee but she is now an ex as she wanted a husband who could put her first and Truman could not do that.
Katie Prentiss is a librarian who has reinvented herself. When she was in high school she was fifty pounds overweight, had braces and wore glasses. Now, years later she has lost the weight and the braces are gone and she has developed self confidence.
Katie and Truman went to school together. When their paths cross as Katie is the victim of a purse snatcher she can't believe it is Truman who comes to her rescue. It seems she has had a crush on him forever. Truman couldn't believe his eyes when she revealed who she was. In his eyes she is beautiful.
The sparks are going to fly but you really need to read their story. They take a bumpy road. Hopefully they will get their happy ever after. Read it to find out. I loved every minute of this book.

Katie Prentiss was always late, on the day of her mugging, she didn't mind being she was rescued by her teen crush. And the same person who had witnessed her most embarrassing moment because of said crush.
When Truman asks Katie for a favor...she's quick to say yes. Anything to spend time with him. Only, the favor ends up putting them in close quarters. She needs to search out her heroine from her favorite mystery series to help her along with some courage. Great story with a lot of humor along the way.

Good read
Truman is a cowboy cop who is all business....until he reconnects with Katie. She's a librarian who yearns for adventure and has had a crush on Truman since childhood. But she's changed....lost weight, no braces, and a whole new attitude. He asks her to help on a case and the adventure is on. There is a little danger, some kissing, no sex, some humor, and some romance. Highly recommend.

Fictional or real detectives?
It would have been a 5 star rating except for the amnesia storyline. It was reminiscent of Bonnie in Book 4. When I read a series I enjoy it more if each one is different.
That being said there's a lot of romance along with a bit of mystery and laughter. Although part of a series it can be read as a standalone story as the location is what connects them.

What a fun book! How can a book lover not be crazy about the heroine who uses her favorite book detective to help her insecurities? Between the fairy tale beginning and the action adventure ending were two characters perfect for romance. Every Rascal, Texas story is different yet all are intriguing, romantic and have unforgettable characters.

Truman!!
Love the childhood crush stories!! Katie was wonderful!! She had loved Truman for so long. Truman thinking he couldn’t love someone like he loved his job, I’m glad he figured everything out.

Great story
I loved Truman and Katie. It was a great story. I wished it had a little more story at the end. Did the crooks go to jail? Did everyone get their money back? Did Katie go to the police academy?

Private Eye and the Pretty Lady
This book started off great. It really got my attention. Then it gradually got less believable and grew difficult to continue to read. I have read two other books by this author that I enjoyed.

Yes this was very well done. Very rememberable to the point of not being able to put down until it's been finished. Wishing for it to still keep on going and going, it was that good. Wanting more stories.

Another great read in this series. Laughter, drama, romance all rolled into the story. MS Wilde just knows how to write a great story to keep you engrossed till the end.

I have been reading all the books in the series; but for some reason this one just was not quite as good. I just did not connect with the story line.

Fun reunion story
Truman and Katie were meant for each other, but it took a chance encounter and an undercover police operation to bring them together. An enjoyable read.
