I never thought I'd be a writer, much less publish a book some day. I always wanted to be a veterinarian. I guess life just had other plans for me. When my husband and I decided to start a family, vet school pretty much went out the window. I used to work with a vet who had three children while going through vet school. To this day, she is my hero.

I live with my husband and two teenage sons in southern California. I have a Welsh pony and a miniature horse (down-sized from a barn of six horses). A crazy Labrador retriever who is a food vacuum, three cats, two parakeets, four bearded dragons (my compromise with my sons when they wanted a snake), and a small flock of chickens complete our menagerie of critters. I can’t imagine my life without my animals. My dream is to live in Montana some day.

Four years ago, I began writing a story that, for whatever reason, was stuck in my head for almost a year. I have been an avid romance reader for a long time, and the idea took hold to - why not? - write my own! What a simple idea, right?
It has been a long and difficult journey from my first sentence to a completed, and hopefully polished, manuscript. Today, I have a completed series of 5 books and a novella in what I called The Yellowstone Romance Series, two books in my new Second Chances Time Travel Romance Series, and I am currently working on the final book in a trilogy set in the Grand Tetons.

The Pathfinders Book 1 In Exciting New Series!

The Pathfinders: Prologue, is a excellent beginning to Peggy L. Henderson's newest series, Wild Mountain Hearts. And I am beyond happy knowing there will be five more books to come and five new heroes to love. This book is filled with wonderful information and little teasers of the books to come along, plus she introduces the five brave young men who join up with others to work for the Rocky Mountain Fur Company, to find a better life for themselves. But are they strong and brave enough, to fight the danger ahead of them? Will the future be all they expected, here in the wilderness west of the Missouri. Peggy L. Henderson has proven herself as an author you don't want to ignore. Always beautifully written with outstanding storylines and the best of the best heroes and heroines, along with the secondary characters you either love or hate. Reading this one again to see what else may be hidden in these pages I may have missed. Highly recommend. JudyE

This is the prologue to a brand-new series by this author.
I really enjoyed this quick read to introduce the characters that will be featured in this series as well as visiting old friends from Peggy’s other series.
This is going to a be a really fun series to read and I can’t wait for the first book besides this prologue to come out.
If you haven’t read any of Ms. Henderson’s books Yellowstone Romance series, Teton Romance Trilogy, Second Chances Time Travel Romance Series, and Wilderness Brides series, you will be getting to know some of these characters that may be in each of the stories in this new series. You might want to read Yellowstone Heart Song, and the First book in the Teton Romance Trilogy to get a heads up on some of the characters that you are reading about in this prologue or new series that might make an appearance so you know who they are.
I assure you reading Ms. Henderson’s books will be a great reward for you if you love history especially surrounding these areas.

This is an introduction to Peggy's new series, Wild Mountain Hearts. As such, it introduces all the main characters that will follow in subsequent books. It's about fur trappers and traders that moved west to find adventure and make their fortunes. Along the way, friends, lovers, and enemies develop. There's always something new and surprising on the next page, which keeps me reading.

I'm amazed at how connected I feel to the characters after reading this short intro. I can't wait to read their stories and find out their strengths and weaknesses as they boldly settle new territory.

I highly recommend this and all of Peggy's books. Read each series in order if you can. The characters show up in other books and other series, making it even more fun.

It’s always exciting to read the first book in a new series by a favourite author and, as one of Mrs Henderson’s fans, I have been eagerly anticipating The Pathfinders. She has done a fantastic job of introducing her five main characters, giving us snippets about their backgrounds and characters, and for one or two of them, hints as to what their romantic stories might involve. And all this within just the scope of a novella. As the main purpose of this novella is to introduce the characters and to set up the series, there isn’t a very complex storyline. However, readers will enjoy the simple plot that gives us opportunity to get to know the Pathfinders a little. And there are lots of other little aspects to enjoy, including the sense of wildness and space of Yellowstone almost two hundred years ago that the author is so good at portraying. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am now looking forward to seeing how the series progresses.

A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All the above opinions are my own.

It is 1822 when this prologue begins and starts the new series The Wild Mountain Hearts. There is comfort in this short story in that it talks about older characters in former series as well as some newer men who I have no doubt will be in future books. The large group of men are camped, ready to move on to the job of trapping for the William Ashley’s Rocky Mountain Fur Company, when one of the men takes off alone, meets up with a grizzly and the beginning of the first book of travels starts. I’m anxious to begin reading The Eagle as it is now on my Kindle.

Rollercoaster ride into Wild Mountain Hearts

This book Is A preview Of the rollercoaster ride that Peggy Henderson is so great at creating. Pathfinders Is a great book on it's own I loved the fact that it brings the Osborne children in when they're small, Daniel always gives the characters either a piece of great wisdom or has them looking at a problem in a different light. I can't wait for the rollercoaster ride to begin. Getting ready to start Book 2 in the Wild Mountain Hearts series

Great start for the new series

This is true Peggy Henderson....blending readable story with history, adventure, adversity, love, and believable characters. It's a special delight that this will tie together, at least in part, two of her previous series and let us revisit our old friends. I look forward to each of the stories in this series, and will re-read the previous stories in the meantime. But, as usual, I read this too fast!!!

Pathfinders

The rough life of trappers in the wilderness is beautifully described in these pages. Each man has a reason for being in the wilderness and it will be very entertaining to follow their exploits. A story that captures you and leaves you curious and waiting for the next adventure. Well done.

This started out a little slow, however it picked up as different characters were added. This just wets the interest as info is slowly added on each of the different players. Am looking forward in meeting each person and there own story. Also the detail in the area of the of the country of the1800’s.

Great start to a new series

I was thrilled to find another series by Peggy Henderson. I enjoyed her previous novels in Yellowstone i
I just knew this would be a good one. I wasn't disappointed. Just needed to be longer. I was just starting to get a handle on the characters when it ended. Can't wait to read the remainder of the series. She is a wonderful story teller.

Another great PLH series

Haven’t read a PLH book in a while, but I still love her writing and the worlds she brings to life. This prologue has me hyped for the rest of the series (each of the young men introduced in this book get their own story).

The Pathfinders is a prologue to this series and book 1. This is the first book I've read by this author and I'm excited to find out more. The young men will each have their own story and I believe it's going to exciting to see what happens to each.

Good Start

This is the first book in a series about mountain men. Each person’s story will be told and all are very interesting. The author weaves very good stories about these people from the past.
