Everybody has a story—it’s a unifying factor that we can all relate to and learn from. When it comes to health, that story can be tragic or transformational (and sometimes both.) What’s your story? Has a medical professional ever told Nothing can be done. It’s all in your head. Just take this and you’ll be fine. All of the Above? You are not alone. Chronic conditions are at an all-time high. Despite medical advancements, we are sicker than ever. Something needs to change! It’s time to disagree. What you’ll find in this book is a story that is changing lives across the country and empowering people to think differently. Thinking differently is where perspectives are transformed, improvements are made, and changes take place. And from Dr. Patrick Flynn’s experience with thousands of patients, these changes are for the better. Heavily inspired by his wife and her journey through medicine, Dr. Flynn developed his unique approach and mode of thought. In these pages, Dr. Flynn shares their story and the resulting mindset that is impacting the health and lives of countless people. The “I Disagree” way of thinking understands that just because something is common, does not mean it’s normal. Through his work, Dr. Flynn and The Wellness Way clinics are changing lives, restoring hope, and getting results. By the time you finish reading, he hopes you find the strength to disagree too. It’s time to embrace your life and take control of your health!
The information in here can be gotten from other, better written books such as: Period Repair Manual and It Starts With the Egg. While Dr. Flynn had some helpful analogies, there were many, many typos, as well as superfluous language that made this difficult to read. And that's not even the most concerning part, namely, his quoting of "studies", which were not cited. His wife also has several anecdotes throughout the book that barely talk about the hard work she had to put in to overcome her chronic conditions, instead she mostly talks about how her husband rescued her. Enough said.
Dr. Patrick shares how the Wellness Way uses testing to get to the bottom of people’s health issues. This book is full of excellent information. It’s an easy read. It explains male and female hormones, how correct hormone levels are the building block of health and how our body isn’t separate systems, but all intricately connected, like a Swiss watch. Everyone should read it and become informed and then start by getting allergy tested.
Easy to read, and just makes sense! I’ve had the feeling for awhile now that “traditional” medicine is necessary for certain things but that for other things something’s missing. This book puts all those pieces together and makes it all make sense. Highly recommed!
I have been going to a wellness way clinic for awhile now for pregnancy adjustments for me and wellness adjustments for my kids. I haven't done any testing or changes as i was pregnant with a very high risk, high stress and anxiety pregnancy and i was terrified to so anything other than adjustments. I have been talking to my dr at my local clinic about doing thibgs once my baby is a little older and my body returns to its new normal. I actually met dr Flynn this last week ay my local clinic when he was ooing over my miracle baby girl. In the few second interaction he seemed great and I saw an anouncement about his new book since i was unable to go to the seminar that night with 3 kids and my husband out of town. I read thw book to see more about this wellness way and ir was such an epiphany to find soneone the conects the dots and has solutions. I have been frustrated for a long timw with migraines, pcos and weight problems being looked at separate. Now i look forward to doing the testing and moving forward. I was just contimplating investing in an mlm product that works for many but the wellness way is where i want ro start.
ok, this book starts off with the mega fucking sexist assumption that all women are predestined to have babies and non baby making women are just trash. I honest to god think that all of the sections from his "wife's perspective" were written by him. Flynn has such a God complex from WHAT. reading a couple of articles that reek of confirmation bias???? You cannot just throw the word hormone around every time that you think you maybe know something based off of "articles" that YOU DID NOT CITE AT ALL. Did you ever take 6th grade language arts??? I understand that health is a team sport and patients always need a voice but experts are experts for a reason. This is exhausting breh. ALSO it takes a quick google to realize that the definition of homeostasis that he gave in the book was just plain wrong.
Reading this, I kept seeing glimpses of myself and those around me. I too, have disagreed with treatments prescribed and have simply stopped them, telling the doc I am no longer taking that, it causes pain. His response was to say, "Really? It shouldn't." then continue as if it did not matter and prescribe something else that I never took. It seems that even the best doctors never REALLY LISTEN to their female patients. I found this to be an eye opening experience.
This was a good read. I think that this book just opens the door for you to do your own research. For the most, it’s a guide for talking to your doctors while telling you to not use the doctors. It heavily promotes The Wellness Way clinics, as it should, but then it’s a huge disappointment to find out that there is no clinic near you. Again, it’s very informative but it just leaves you guessing.
I have been a patient of Dr. Patrick at The Wellness Way for several years. And I have learned much. But this book helped me to understand even more - it's very readable for someone like me who has non medical background. I have a WW appointment coming up soon and can't wait to continue my wellness journey applying (again) what I have learned.
An awesome presentation of the real world, the state of our well-being as individuals and society, and the issues with the medical approach which has led us to where we are now. Dr. Patrick is an amazing researcher and educator! We all know deep down things aren’t right and his ability to verbalize and explain why and a new approach to fix things is spot on!!!
Really great book. I would recommend everyone read it. Dr. Flynn has a very entertaining and engaging writing style. He was able to explain medical details in terms I could understand (with a dash of humor to keep the me engaged). He comes across very honest and knowledgeable about his work. This book is for everyone even if not all people accept his views.
Interesting book. It talks a lot about hormone testing, and how toxic the world is. There is a huge Christian undertone, but other than that it offers some pretty interesting perspective about the differences in men and women.
This book was eye opening, but it also gave me insight into how much more there is to know about how we move, live, grow as people. And how much more we're missing out on that conventional medicine doesn't address.
