We’ll Meet Again is a short story introducing us to The Evergreens. The Evergreens is being used as a sort of hospice for soldiers who have been injured in the war. It was quite heartbreaking getting to know Will and what he had endured and what he is having to go through. My heart definitely went out to him.

We also meet Jenny who works at The Evergreens as a nurse but has the constant worry of her husband fighting in the war. A lovely friendship strikes up between the pair and I could easily have devoured more about them.

For such a short story the author really packs a punch with getting the reader to feel such emotion within such a short space of time. It’s certainly made me very eager to read A Patchwork Family now having read this.

We’ll Meet Again is a heartwarming story that you can easily devour whilst you put your feet up and have a short break. I enjoyed being transported back to life during world war two and it is a great reminder of what people went through as well as the hope and courage that they showed. A wonderful little read.

My word this book was brilliant so captivating and so unlike any other book Cathy has written before as based in the ww11 and shows how two unlikely people can strike up more than a friendship. So well written and wanted more as so brilliant.
Jenny is a nurse and will is injured in the war and ends up in hospital and jenny looks after him they soon strike up an amazing friendship can it lead to more or not.
Worth far more than five stars even though so short.

I wanted to check out this author. This short story could have been fleshed out as a full length novel and I would have enjoyed that more.

Sad that this was over so quickly! I've never read a novel set in the war before so wasn't sure what I'd make of it (even though it is very short!), but I actually loved it. I loved reading about Jenny and Will and it was very heartwarming. The ending seemed a little rushed but overall it was a heartwarming novella which I throughly enjoyed.

I came across this book on Instagram, thought it sounded wonderful and went to find out more about it straight away. To my amazement it was free on Kindle and I downloaded it there and then!
This is a beautiful, sweet little story set in WW11 around D-day.
It tells the story of Nurse Jenny Hallam who has two young children and a husband who is away fighting in the war. She begins to look after a patient, Pilot Officer Will Rose and the two soon become friends.
Lovely characters, a short sweet story and you are left wanting a little bit more!!

I loved this book, it is only a short read and I think it would be perfect for a coffee or tea break. I really enjoyed the story and it was lovely to be able to meet Nurse Jenny Hallam and her family and Pilot Officer Will Rose – and I loved the setting of The Evergreens too, it sounds lovely!

As I said at the start of my review, the story didn’t take me very long at all to read and it was a great way for me to spend my lunch break at work, I try to read every lunch but I found it lovely that I was able to start and finish the story – and having read the sampler for the author’s next book, A Patchwork Family, I can’t wait for that one to come out now!

Very highly recommended and best of all at the moment it is free to download on Amazon!!

A charming war-time story that takes just 20 minutes or so to read. It sets the scene for a new series by Cathy to be released early next year

Pretty cute short story and quick read. I could have probably gotten in to this as a regular novel too. I finished wanting more. I’d try this author again to see what else she has out there.

An enjoyable short story, offers a fast moving story with the cliched '2 bads make a good' storyline.

Meh. Not for me. I liked Brambley’s first few novels well enough but I think maybe my reading tastes have changed. This didn’t do a lot for me and it didn’t really make me want to read the book it’s prequel long. Never mind. I’m sure it’ll be exactly what someone else is after.

A delightful short story from the equally delightful Cathy Bramley. This bite size book also gives us a taster of the new series from this author, A Patchwork Family, at the back of the book! This story, based during WWII, introduces us to Nurse Jenny Hallam. Her husband is away at war, and Jenny has to look after their two children as well as working at the local hospital tending to some of the wounded men sent home. Here she meets handsome Pilot Officer Will Rose, and whilst all they can be are friends, what would happen if they were to meet again….

I love books based during the war, so was excited to see this short story was set during this time. The cover of the book was also very attractive, and even if it wasn’t by this author (whose books I wouldn’t miss for the world!) I would have been tempted by it on just the cover alone! It was the perfect little read to wet my taste buds for the new series and to be honest, it’s been a while since I’ve read a book by this author so it was fabulous to get back into one of her books again!

The story was lovely and heart-warming and, whilst it wasn’t a very long book it grabbed me straight away and I connected with the characters immediately! For an hour or so I forgot where I was and what I was supposed to be doing while I escaped into Jenny Hallam’s life! A perfect short read which has got me waiting on tenterhooks for the new series which is due out in August 2019! Would definitely recommend!

It's been a very long time since I read a book by Cathy Bramley. It was high time to change that!
When I saw that We'll meet again was free to download on Amazon I didn't hesitate to press the "buy" button. Normally I wouldn't pick up a book set in WWII but just the cover tempted me to pick it up alone. I'm happy I gave that little story a chance. I loved it, it was very cute.

"We'll meet again" is the prequel to "A Patchwork Family", this historical short story features Nurse Jenny Hallam who works The Evergreens and takes care of soldiers who have been injured in the war. While Jennys husband is fighting in war, she works in the hospital and has to look after her two children. Every day she is confronted with the constant fear if her husband will ever come home safely. At the Evergreens Nurse Jenny meets Pilot Officer Will Rose, who is a wounded soldier sent home. They get to know each other and soon the two of them become good friends that brings out a new hope in them both.

Cathy Bramley did a fantstic job transporting me back in time of WWII. Very often short stories are quite flat and you can't connect to the characters easily. With this story it is completely different.
"We'll meet again" is a very beautiful story, it merges struggles in life, hope and courage. I enjoyed how the author has described the characters itself and the life of them in details. They are so well done that the characters find their way into your heart and mind. She makes them all come alive, giving authenticity to their feelings, their struggles.

I'm eager to pick up "A Patchwork Family" in 2020. The book also will be released as a 4 part series from 2019 on. The first part will be released in August 2019.

What a sweet, perfectly romantic book. It was less than 50 pages long so you wouldn’t think you would have much time to become invested in the characters, but the way this was written made the characters feel like friends almost immediately.

I’ve never read any of Cathy Bramley’s books before, but I decided to read this one while I was sat on my train waiting to set off from the station, and it was such a quick and engrossing read that I finished it as the train was pulling away.

Set in World War Two, we are following the story of Jenny Hallam, a nurse, and Will Rose, a pilot whose plane fell out of the sky and left him with horrific burns.

Will, probably fairly, has been quite a recluse since he arrived in the hospital, but it seems like nurse Jenny might be the one to pull him back out of his shell. But she’s not having an easy life either, with kids at home and a husband in the war that hasn’t written to her for weeks, she has many things on her mind.

Through this short story, we see events in Jenny and Will’s lives unfold, taking us along on a story of heartbreak and eventual happiness for both characters.

As I mentioned before, I’ve not read any of Cathy Bramley’s books before, but if a book this short can make me so emotional, I’ll be on the lookout for more!

I love a wartime story and I always fall in love with Cathy Bramley’s book as she’s one of my sure fire favourite authors. I also love a short story so this one was going to be a winner!

It was a lovely little, heartwarming hit of wartime drama and romance. It captured the spirit of the times well and introduced you to the character and the story quickly and with ease so it was super easy to get into. And easy to finish in one sitting!

We meet Jenny, a nurse at the Evergreen hospital and captain Rose who is convalescing there. It’s a fast mover with a quick pace and before you know it, it’s over! I loved it and it would have been wonderful as a full length tale with all of the finer details fleshed out. Was left wanting more but then again, that is always the case with short stories! She should definitely venture more into wartime romances as this one was great.

Set in June 1944 in WWII, Jenny is a nurse awaiting news on her husband Tom whom she has Violet and Jack with.

Injured RAF officer Will and his fiancée must face up to the fact of their heart's not being invested in each other.

While as the war approaches its end, the pairs lives change for the better future...

This short story was lovely and perfectly sets the way for Cathy's Patchwork Family book out this summer as that will feature Violet and her brother grown old and gone from their friends perspectives.

A quick but heart shattering read with promise of more happier loving times to come!

This was my last read of 2020, managed to squeeze it in.

I’m not one of short stories very often, but as this was by a well known author Cathy Bramley and I love her full length books, decided to give it a try.

I absolutely loved the storyline and the character of Jenny and Will sounded great and I’d have loved to get to know them better.

If I had to be honest, this little novel sounded more like a the basis/idea/workings of a storyline, the author writing down a beginning and then the ending. So in my opinion, I think this little novel would have hugely benefited from being turned into a full length novel, as I would definitely have read and enjoyed that I’m sure.

A sweet short story about two people finding love when they meet at a hospital during World War Two. I enjoyed the story which will feed into Cathy Bramley's forthcoming book The Patchwork Family. There is a couple of chapters of the new book, which is set in the present day and in the same big house The Evergreens, at the end of the short story to whet your appetite. I really enjoyed both the short story and the chapters from the new book where it was good to get a glimpse of some of the same characters. I hope we find out more about their love story through the new book.

I didn't realise this book contained 2 short stories. The first one was a lovely tale set around the time of the D-Day landings about an injured soldier and one of the nurses. It felt real and had the message of happiness after sadness.

The second story is about a woman finding her place and discovering what she truly wants after divorce. It's nice to read a women's fiction story that is based on the woman's strength rather than a love interest. However, this was just a teaser and had no conclusion.

I knew this was a short story going in, but the length of the story’s introduction to the setting and characters gave me whiplash compared to the resolution. It is written from the perspective of two characters over the course of a couple days but the ending jumps ahead two years and gives us a quick summary of the ‘happily ever after.’ Feels more like a children’s story than a lot of actual books written for children.

Loved this! This was a free book by Cathy Bramley which it turns out leads to a new series coming soon.
I love Cathy Bramley and haven’t read her for ages. This book was beautiful, it was based during ww2 which isn’t my normal but I have to say I couldn’t put it down. The feelings and descriptions were so moving and honest.
I can’t wait for the new series now.

Nostalgic reading.

I used to read a lot of family saga books set in wartime Liverpool. We'll Meet Again reminds me of that time as it's been a while since I last read that genre.
It's just a short story but it sets the scene of A Patchwork Family which is Cathy Bramley's next book.

Heartwarming

A lovely shorty story that introduces you to The Evergreens. Once a private residence The Evergreens is now being used as a military hospital for injured service men. It follows the story of Jenny a nurse and Will an injured RAF officer. A thoroughly enjoyable ww2 story. I look forward to the series.

I just love short stories/novellas. For me, it’s one way to see if I like an author or if I want to continue with a series.
I definitely liked this author and the short story. Will definitely continue with this series at some point. Unfortunately, my library doesn’t carry any of her books, so I will have to gradually buy them from Amazon for my Kindle.

Very cute and short and sweet. Easy to follow and to the point. I love when a short story gets to th point and feels so much more than the shorter amount of pages they are on. I want to read more that take place here.

Short story that was very sweet especially since it was set during challenging times. Sometimes the wording a little wordy or disengaging but overall was a great story that kept me reading
