Born and raised in Brooklyn NY, Vincent Morrone now resides in Upstate NY with his wife. (Although he can still speak fluent Brooklynese.) His twin daughters remain not only his biggest fans, but usually are the first to read all of his work. Their home is run and operated for the comfort and convenience of their dogs.
Vincent has been writing fiction, poetry and song lyrics for as long as he can remember, most of which involve magical misfits, paranormal prodigies and even on occasion superheroes and their sidekicks.

Torn in Two is the second book in The Torn Series Book series written by Vincent Morrone. A fast-paced mystery suspense thriller that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. Morrone pulls you into a world of murder and intrigue as Detective Ollie Miller as not only a new partner but a case that is sure to test her abilities to find the murderer. While this is the second book in the series, it can easily be read as a standalone novel. However, once you read Torn in Two you will want to read the first book.
Torn in Two is the second in the Torn Series, I have to admit that I have read the first book. I don't know if that would have changed my opinion of this book if I had, but I have to admit that I struggled with it. There's an awful lot going on here, with four or five, inter-related threads that make up the plot of the story. Obviously, much of this has been introduced in the first book and I think that might be where I struggled a bit. I got lost in the beginning and then found later on that I was forgetting about some aspects of the plot entirely until they were mentioned again. This book is a thriller/mystery with a romance subplot. The romance aspect was written in a similar way to what you would expect in a straight romance book, but it was almost an afterthought. I did enjoy that part of it, in fact, I enjoyed quite a bit, but the book was confusing and that detracted from the overall read. I wish I could have enjoyed this one more, but it just wasn't for me. I think it may be better if you have read the first book, but as I haven't I can't be sure of that. In some ways, it was almost as though we were expected to already know the characters. I couldn't decide how old the young boy was, his age (almost 9) wasn't mentioned until nearly the end. Things like that, although perhaps not essential just made me more confused. There are some very dark themes in this book, which might not be for everyone. I didn't hate the book, but I really didn't love it either. I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

According to the blurb, this story focuses on Ashley, Cole (Ashley's nephew), and Ollie. Ashley has custody of Cole after Cole's mother is murdered and Ollie is one of the detectives on the case. Ollie and Ashley have been BFFs forever and it's pretty close to 50% through the book before any romantic relationship between them develops. It's not long before the killer sets his sights on Ashley and Cole. I originally requested this book because i thought it would be an interesting romance novel, but y'all it is SO much more. There is action, mystery and angst! There are solid secondary characters that go through some serious character development. Ashley had to figure out how to forgive her brother (Drew) for leaving and cutting off communication for a decade after finding out the reasons for him leaving. I liked how it showed Cole dealing with the trauma from his recent past. Ollie was basically the rock in the story. He was supportive and constant in their lives. The ending got me! I didn't figure out who the killer was until right before he told us, and it wasn't for lack of guessing! It did have a hea, but also a small ish cliffhanger that will lead us to the next book. I can't wait!
