I love writing and I'm a writer of love in all its forms - fiction, poetry, blogging. Think of me as a busker in a subway. I love music, I love to perform and you guys are kind enough to give me money to allow me to do it. My bank manager likes that too, but he doesn't use my subway.
I'm passionate about sharing my work with readers. I understand though, as I'm not a famous New York Times Bestseller (yet!), you might be nervous about taking a chance on me. That's why I made the offer at the top of this section. If you enjoy the ride, I hope you'll just keep rolling on and try some more.
As you'll see from my book list here on Goodreads, I write in a range of genres: romance-suspense novels, gritty short stories and more recently, a series of illustrated, interactive modern fairy tales for children (age 6-12). Wherever possible my books are available in digital, paperback and audio book formats.
I often have giveaways of paperbacks, audio books, e-books and sometimes rather valuable electronic gadgets related to reading (e.g. Kindles and other e-readers). Keep an eye out on my blog and you might get more free stuff!
I still had spots when I started writing and have won numerous local, national and international prizes for poetry and short stories in the many years that have passed.
I now live a double life, sharing my time between a tiny rural town in southwest France and within commuting distance of London in the UK.
This was completely different from what I've been reading lately, but oddly, I found that I quite liked it at the end. Guilt references the survivor's guilt that Helen feels - she's a war widow and now a cop on the beat in London with Lanza, her fellow canine partner. Lanza is shot during an apparent robbery, and in the encounter, Helen gets caught up with the super rich and famous, a retired Italian opera singer, the seedy underbelly of drug addiction, and radical terrorism. It was pretty cool.
I should say a couple of times I was a little turned off by the British-ism in the narrative, particularly during the sex scenes. I suppose I'm used to American author descriptions, so I couldn't quite get in to "cummy cum" and "I'm a naughty girl" as Helen was getting off. Be that as it may, I got used to it fairly quickly, because, you know...opera. And canine cops... And guns....
PC. Helen Marx is on a routine burglary call with her canine partner Lanzo when the worst happens. Her beloved dog has taken a bullet for her. From then on her "normal" life is shaken up and thrown into a whirlwind of the mega rich super stars and terrorism.
Marco Ambastilias is a retired opera singer. He no longer feels the passion needed to perform his art at it's best. His teenage daughter has gone slightly off the rails and he needs to save her, even if it's from herself.
This is a sexy and exciting story. Our author has as usual given us a tale that we could easily see playing out on our streets. A day at the races, or a concert is a tempting target for those whose only want to spread terror. There are many heroes in this book and the biggest has four feet and represents many like him on all our streets today.
I loved every page and cried more than a few tears.
WOW! This was quite a ride! The whole world's good guys and even some not so good guys band together to take down a religious terrorist group and in the middle of it all is Canine Cop Helen Marx and her trusty companion, Lanza. Lanza is almost killed in the very beginning of the book and meets Marco, a sexy Italian opera singer. His teenage daughter is unwittingly involved with some of the terrorists and Helen is tasked with posing as Marco's girlfriend to get close to them. Thus begins the seduction of guilt. It is a beautiful love story intertwined with a huge thriller that you just can't put down. Excellent read except that it had to end! Don't you just hate when that happens? I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
It has taken me almost a week to sort out my impressions of this story. On the surface it is a love story, a police dog story, but then it turns into a terrorist plot. Emma Calin has another hit on her hands. In spite of so many layers of the plot nothing gets confused and the characters stay bright and crisp if you can understand that. The terrorist plot gives the author a way to explain how International police work together to protect us. Dangerous work as the dedication shows. We also see how parents will protect their child no matter what ; and how police dog teams will go the extra mile for no pay. I will warn you that while this is a standalone story it also interweaves with all the other "Seduction" books. Get ready to have to think!
Way too many gratuitous poorly written sex scenes that did nothing to advance the story. Very confused background of agencies involved in this fight against terrorism. It is one thing to keep the protagonist in the dark, but by the end of the book the reader should not still be confused.
SEDUCTION OF GUILT by Emma Calin is another book that touched me deeply. She has a series featuring many of the same characters whose primary female characters are London policewomen. In this book Helen is a London policewoman who is partnered by a police dog, Lanza. The book begins with Lanza getting shot in the line of duty and his effort to protect Helen. The crime takes place at the home of Marco, whose daughter has gotten involved with criminals hiding drugs. Marco is a world famous former opera singer who has chosen to spend his time and energy caring for his emotionally needy daughter, Cressida.
The relationship that develops between Helen and Marco spoke volumes to me of the power of deep true love and its benefits for everyone touched by it. Theirs is a passionate love that involves every aspect of their beings—body, soul, and spirit; both are honorable, noble committed people devoted to ensuring the fight against world evil and terrorism. Ms. Calin is a talented author and I absolutely, totally, completely recommend her books.
I received a free reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

A British police dog handler is thrust into a world of counter terrorism, after her and her dog respond to an armed burglary callout.
The rest of this dramatic and superbly crafted tale, will keep you turning pages, to find out what is about to happen next.
I love Ms Calin's group of English feisty female cops. I'm sure they are modeled on some real life characters, and that thought allows me to sleep peacefully at night, knowing such people are patrolling the streets, to catch those with sinister intentions, often preventing incidents, without the public even knowing.
There should have been some warning about the erotica scenes in the book. Helen being a cop in London, her dog partner is shot during a burglary. Of course there is more to the whole story, which is found out throughout the book. Really? Helen and Marco fall in love within what? 2 seconds of meeting each other? At least make it more realistic. Also put warnings about the x rated scenes. I skipped a lot, because of those. I can see as a cop why Helen had to lie about what was going on with the terrorists, but there was no reason whatsoever to involve him by asking him to perform. She should have told her bosses no, badd enough she was already lying to him while living at his house.
Helen is an amazing soldier, cop and dog handler but it all went crazy when she responding to a call and her do went to go and capture him and got shot thankfully the guy that was a victim also knew what to do till he could get his friend the vet to save his life but she had no idea how deep this one captured criminal would lead the cops and every other alphabets in the government agencies all over the world. And she really didnt mean to find someone after her late husband's death
Guilt is written as a poetic story. Action packed drama, mystery, suspense, sexy scenes in a British way. I didn't care for the way Helen and Marco voiced their passion. Why would Helen agree to go to the BBC with Lanza if the SOHV terrorists were still on the loose? Why would Anna agree also? That just blew my mind. Marco speaks English like an Italian would. His words are poetic to Helen.
It was interesting for a while. I had a problem, though, with the POV constantly switching off. There was at least one paragraph where the POV changed four different times. While trying to keep track of who was doing what to whom and what that person felt about it, I lost the thread of the story more than once. DNF at 49%
Fast-paced thriller with a strong female lead character. All the ingredients for a best seller. What a pity there was so much emphasis on the sex. Show don't tell. We got the chemistry between Helen and Marco in the first chapter. The action on the streets of London was more exciting anyway.
Who would think that by responding to call you would get swept up in a massive terror plot. I've read a lot of romances this on is unique. The storyline is enjoyable a bit far fetched but that makes it a brilliant read. Will definitely be reading more in the series
I love this series! Ms. Calin can definitely write badass women that don't pull any punches with their language or their sexuality! Be prepared for a rollercoaster ride with terrorist's popping out everywhere and our heroine and her dog in their crosshairs. And Opera can't forget the Opera!
Although the author seems very knowledgeable and quite up to date I didn't enjoy the writing style at all. It was stilted and report-like. It was written in the third person but sometimes I couldn't identify who was actually speaking. Unfortunately I couldn't get beyond 20something %. Found it free.
Guilt by Emma Calin. 2 stars. This is a new to me author. The story line was great, the main and secondary characters were well presented. It was fast paced, extremely well executed, beautiful writing, wonderful prose. But ...... this book just did not work for me.
I would have loved the book but to me it was rated x . I don’t like that kind of talk it was nasty !!! Porn all the way in fact I had to skip over all it . I would have ended it but I wanted to see if Lanza and daughter made out okay in the end .
Action packed with lots of twists and turns. I couldn't put this story down. The father daughter love is awesome. The connection of this couple is intense.
Loved this story and I am definitely going to read the rest of the Passion Patrol Books too. Helen and Marco have great back stories and that helps deliver them as characters with strength and passion and the ability to love unconditionally. Emma Calin has a winner here.
