The King & Alpha #2

Prophesy Book II: The Bringer of Wrath

Rate this book
Shifter and Vampire True Mates story.

Alek’s older brother, Justice—the Alpha Zenith—was the first shifter to mate with a vampire in many generations, and it was believed the rare, fated pairing would stop at him. But, it hadn’t. Aleksei ‘Alek’ Volkov was second beta, next in succession to the most powerful shifter in the world. He was proud of his title and he took his duties seriously. It was all he had. Until his true mate literally showed up on his doorstep.

While his brother—the overachiever—excelled at having a vampire as a mate, Alek wasn’t that optimistic he would. He wasn’t averse to love, and he’d often thought of how different his life could’ve turned out if he’d ever experienced the emotion. His life was a mess and he’d worn a mask of stability for a majority of that time, only showing his siblings and pack what they needed to see—a strong Volkov alpha. Not the damaged man he was, with a tortured soul and a rogue wolf.

Alek dropped his heavy head in his hands. Now, for some reason, I’ve been granted a true vampire mate. And not just any vampire. The intimidating Belleron Liatos. Lord High to the King and the leader of his army.

Belleron ‘Bell’ Liatos had come to the states for one reason—his best friend and Vampire King, Chadwick Bentley. He certainly didn’t come to be pounced on by a wolf that could act independently of its master. Not only was his destined cherished a complicated and confused man; but he was also unaware of the powerful presence that lurked in the shadows of his soul. Bell didn’t know he’d be the key to unlocking an exceptional triad that would play a critical role in fulfilling the prophesy.

This story DOES NOT contain or even mention MPREG.
No multiple pairings. No cliffhangers. Ends with a very HFN.

Warning: This book is M/M paranormal: If you DO NOT like alpha men shifting into large wolves, or vampires feeding from their destined beloveds, than this may not be the novel for you.

It has been some time since I have read the first book in this series "Prophesy" which I enjoyed a lot. Thankfully as soon as I started reading this one, everything about the first book came back to me. I love when that happens. I also remembered how bad I wanted to read Alek and Belleron's story...and let me tell you, I was not disappointed !!

so good gif - Google zoeken

This book starts exactly where the last when left us, and just so you know...it can NOT be read as a stand-alone. You won't understand what the hell is happening, so if you want to read this series, start with the book 1 !!

Last time we saw Alek and Bell, things were quite strained... with Alek pretty much throwing (read attacking) himself at Bell.

Alek has always wanted a mate...to find someone to truly love him, and he can't believe that fate has given him a chance in the form of Lord High vampire, Belleron Liatos. But how can he be the perfect "beloved" when he is in fact so broken inside... Broken into three separate pieces to be exact. How can he ever explain all that he is to his one true love...

And there is no way he will be able to hide/supress his inner being(s)

monster insde gif - Google zoeken

Bell was pretty surprised, finding out his "beloved" turned out to be a shifter with apparent control issues. What he is even more surprised about.. is what he sees lurking when he looks into the eyes of his love...and how much it's pulling him in.

I loved this series when I started it, but I love it even more now. It is exactly what I look for in a shifter/vampire story. It kept me at the edge of my seat while still making me laugh and swoon. I even cried a little tear!

If you love vampires and shifters as much as I do, then you should definitely give this one a try. I was a bit surprised with the medium steam-level because I am used to the very steamy "Nothing Special" series by A.E. Via. No worries though, there is still some very nice sexing going on!

I myself can't wait for the next book which I am sure (read hope) will be Mac's.

Via wins the award for the most unusual “milking/feeding” scene I’ve ever read!!! 😳

I was apprehensive to read this second book in the series as the first didn’t do much for me. However, this one had much richer character depth, and a really interesting premise.

✔️A shifter with three distinct personalities
✔️A vampire/shifter fated mate
✔️Smokin hot sex and sweet intimacy
✔️*See unique milking/feeding scene as listed above
✔️Claiming bites with all that growly possessive & protective energy

Even though I believe this could be read as a standalone, there is a lot of vampire and shifter politics that could get confusing if you don’t read this series in order.

The ending is a little anticlimactic.

Highly recommend the audiobook voiced expertly by Troy Duran.

3.75 My Heart. My God. My Shield Stars

Alek: was damaged goods—a man with a torn soul, and a rogue wolf. And for some reason, he’d been granted a true vampire mate. And not just any vampire. The second most powerful in the world—Lord High to the King, and his right hand, and leader and commander of his army.
Alek didn’t think he was worthy of having a mate. He was torn apart from his wolf and a monster was created that was why…

A long time ago, Bell, had given up on finding his mate. Before meeting Alek, he was fine without caring for someone else’s well-being, their safety, and hurting for them. but now he was experiencing all of them. he didn't trust easily and he wasn’t ready yet…

Told mostly in dual POV, 3rd person. it’s the second installment in "The King & Alpha" series and it would be more enjoyable if you read it in order. It’s a bit angsty. It was a bit different from what I had read in shifters’ stories; because Alek has a unique situation that I hadn’t seen in my previous shifter’s reads. It was interesting, kind of. Overall, it was a good read and hope you like it as well.

ALL the stars!
At the end of Book #1, which brought me to my knees by its overwhelming beauty, we are witness of the grand arrival of The Lord High - Belleron ‘Bell’ Liatos, and how Aleksei ‘Alek’ Volkov’s claimed him as his mate, or in vampire terms ‘his beloved’ Bell surrendered to Alek.

I couldn’t wait to start with #2 Shifters, vampires, and true mates are my favorites!

Bell is the right hand of the Vampire King Wick whose true mate is Alpha Zenith Justice.

Alek, Justice’s brother, has a beautiful wolf in him but he has also a dark devastating secret no one knows of. Bell can see and feel a glimpse of the secret and can feel it is big, better to say huge and destructive, so much anger, but Bell isn’t really afraid.
Alek can’t claim Bell against his will. Bell needs time. First, he wants to fight the battle overseas, against Alessandro a vampire who recruits young vampires, under false pretenses like freedom, to fight against Alpha Zenith.

Alek and his Wolf beg Bell not to go without first being mated with him. Because without the claiming, Alek can’t connect with Bell and protect him. Bell is furious, he doesn’t need a protector, he himself is a protector. If he only knew!
Alek can’t handle this and is battling with his deep settled anger.

This is just a fraction of this immensely captivating journey. There is so much story.
An absolute must-read for the fans of shifters and vampires.

I love the claiming, the pure dedication, the possessiveness and the protectiveness of true mates. I got a bit high by it all. In this read it all is strongly present and oh boy it was outstanding. In this story we have the shifters, the vampires, the hierarchy, the unconditional love. When wolf shifters and vampires are connecting, the most beautiful things happen, pure magic. We can experience the softness of furs, the yearning, the longing of true mates. There are delicious sexy scenes. The revelations of hurt souls were devastating.

This story was a thoroughly developed beauty. With stunning creatures, breathtaking environments and a plot simply fantastic. Bit by bit we get to know more about The Prophesy.
This masterly written story was immensely captivating and intriguing. It was thrilling at times and highly sensual, it also warmed my heart with all the grand gestures.
All the feelings were exquisitely described and with that, every emotion palpable!
This story is so cleverly put together, so creative, it all made sense and was acceptable. Of course, it’s fantasy I’m aware, but hey for me, when I read it’s reality and I was totally absorbed by this story. At times I wished it was reality!

The end gave me such thick goosebumps!! What a ride!

Highly recommended

DNF at 20%

I guess it's DNF day for me today. :(

Absolutely nothing is happening. The first 35 pages are only about Bell and Alek waking up and taking a walk outside.

Everything moves at glacial pace. I don't need to read over and over again how Alek is struggling with his inner wolves and how Bell wasn't sure he could submit to Alek. Aright alright, I get it already.

I wasn't too sure I would like this book when I read the blurb so I guess it's mostly my own fault.

This one picks up where Prophesy left off with Alek and Bell coming to terms with Wolf's interference and biting Bell upon first meeting. As the story goes along, we learn about Alek and what has kept him slightly removed from his family and definitely from the pack.

I was so excited when I saw this one was coming out soon. I was hooked from page one. Things are coming together for the Prophesy but in unusual terms. I don't really want to spoil anything but due to the way "things" were with Alek, it did bring my enjoyment down a little. I wasn't expecting

Bell was on my last freaking nerve. He was a spoiled pompous ass and look where that got him! He didn't want to listen to Alek and was going to do what HE wanted no matter what anyone said. Even towards the end he didn't let Alek explain why he like he did. I was about done with his ass and wanted Alek to go look elsewhere for a mate!

But aside from my grievances, I still enjoyed this addition to the series and I can't wait for more. Book 1 is my favorite so far. Even given Justice's denial of Wick, I felt their love more.

This one didn't woo me. Maybe because I was expecting a differet kind of story development, development being the keyword.😁 It could have been much better. I guess the author wanted badly to give free rein to a very specific kind of own fantasies in this one (rolls eyes). Not too heavy on emotion, some parts were intresting but unfortunately underdeveloped.

This one was slow to get going and do mean slow. I’m talking wading through treacle here but once it finally got going and I ignored a few of the holes. I found I enjoyed it.

Alek was a surprising character. I’m not saying more on this since I don’t want to spoil anything. Bell was a little pompous and annoying early on but I warmed to him.

Now I’m just waiting for the next book which I assume will be Mac’s.

A.E. Via is a phenomenal Author. The Prophesy II: The Bringer of Wrath was about a fated shifter and vampire Alek and Bell. Alek struggles with some parts of himself and Bell learns to connect with ALL parts of Alek. Alek and Bell will take you on a delicious journey while Alek needs to connect with his other two halves of himself while hoping not to scare off his mate. Bell learns to be patience with his mate, but Alek wolf needs more. Prophesy II was another great read. I was intrigued in this book not wanting it to end, but at the same time wondering what's happening next. Will the Prophesy be fulfilled? ☆☆☆☆☆ Can't wait until the next book in the series.

4.5 stars - This picks up right at the end of the previous book, which you really need to read to understand the world Ms. Via has created. It is a world where prophesies are starting to play out where vampires are finding true mates with the alpha Volkov wolves. This is true once again with Alek and vampire Bell. There is a lot more to their story, however.

Suffice to say, Alek and his wolf have quite a history and it hasn’t all been good. They come a long way in this story uniting and learning they are stronger together. There is a third entity at play here as well – Wrath, who has been misunderstood for a long time. Think of Wolf and Wrath as Alek’s other personalities, though they end up more as equals. Anyhoo, before they are able to explain their situation or to complete their bonding with Bell, they are separated when Bell goes off in his position as arms leader to handle a threat in Europe.

Things get out of hand pretty quickly, and Alek must take steps to recover and rescue his mate. This results in them finally being able to communicate about their situation as mates and their bond growing strong as Bell gets to know each of the entities.

I love the various aspects to the characters in this world. The wolves each have their own qualities they bring to the table, and it was great to see the Volkov family all coming together and moving on from their past. Likewise, it was fun to watch Bell get to Alek, Wolf and Wrath. It was easy to follow who was who and who was on the surface at any given time. There is a lot more to this story with regards to the prophecy. It is a very interesting world with equally interesting characters, both main and side, and I’m looking forward to seeing it continue with what hinted to be the next pairing.

4.5 stars - forgot how much I enjoyed this series...the focus on Bell & Alex / Wolf / Wrath. A unique pairing of shifters where all three elements of Alex came out to love and protect Bell. I’m really looking forward to this series unfolding.

3.5 stars.

This one started a little slow for me. The first 50% was just okay, I wasn't fully invested and was kinda of wondering about the flow of the story. I just couldn't figure out what was going on with Alex. But the 2nd half was better and it had me super intrigued.

In the end, I didn't round it up because while I liked the 2nd half, and I enjoyed the story/characters. I'm still on the fence about the relationship between the 2 main characters. I can't explain why because it will spoil it. Didn't hate it/didn't love it.

Can we all take a moment and talk about how awful my reviews are lately, lol! Its like my brain can't put together any real thoughts.

After book 1 in this series, I couldn't wait to get to Alek and Bell's story, and it was everything I was hoping for with the type of angst you can only get from fated mates.

It did take a while for this story to really pick up and to get to the heart of it but once you did it was everything I love about shifters and vampires. Their relationship dynamic was so unique, and I think that took some time for me to get used to but once I got into the craving side of how much they longed for one another I was hooked.

A.E. Via always transports me with her stories and while I am picky about my shifters, she didn't disappoint but I think her Lover's Stories series will forever be my favorite.

This was much better than the first one ... I liked Bell, although I was s bit cross with him on occasion
I felt for Alek .... all of him

Contrary to the first book there was a story till the end, with only a small lag in the middle.

Now I am really looking forward to the next one.

This book had another interesting twist to it, Alek besides himself and his wolf had another inside him and they were all separate thinking and acting. At first is was slighting confusing but you caught on pretty quick. It made the story quite interesting. The pairing of Alek and Belleron were very much opposites and they didn't quite blend well for me, had it not been for Wrath I don't think it would have really worked but Belleron and he seemed to have a close bond which worked and had some very 🔥 scenes! I loved their interactions more than anything 😁.
I'm looking forward to more of this series. 😍

2.5 Stars out of 5

This book was insanely intense at the beginning. Things were so hot and I was pretty sure that if the book continued that way I would be delirious by the end of it but somehow the pace lets up after the first 20%, it mellows down and it never captures the intensity of the first few chapters again. This book essentially has a pacing problem. Things instead of building up to the climax, splutter out.

The book also has a very weak plot that seems to fade in and out of our main characters' consciousness. The way this book is structured makes it really hard to develop a solid plot which is probably where this book suffers the most. The author doesn't quite manage to balance the political plot against the romantic one. When one is in the foreground the other usually doesn't exist at all. So, that really made this book a weird one for me. The only thing in the ending that intrigued me was the setup for the next book.

Also, let's talk about the overarching plot of this series, the apparent prophecy that was made. The most that happens in this book with regards to that plot can be labelled as lip service because I don't remember the events of the first book and I don't know how fleshed out this plot was in that one but if you want this plot to be big you need to feed it with every story you tell but that doesn't seem to be the case. The author should have atleast reaffirmed what she was hinting of with the prophecy and she doesn't even do that so now I'm really confused with what she wants to do with this whole "prophecy" thing. Also, what is the prophecy, does anyone know? Was is it spelled out in the first book?

I genuinely liked the characters they are definitely the best part of this book though Bell really irritated the hell out of me when he left Alek in the beginning of the book but he pretty much redeems himself by the end. I didn't love him but I did like him.

Alek is a bit of a conundrum. His body is host to three people/identities that split apart following a traumatic event in his past. Okay, now frankly this is a little bit too close to the depiction of Dissociative Identity Disorder in fiction which is a very glamorized version of the actual disease but anyone who has seen enough movies or read enough books will associate Alek with this disorder which creates a little bit of an issue. Is Wrath just an alter? Alek in a moment of weakness calls himself a fucked-up-in-the-head-multiple-personality-dysfunctional alpha which is where this thought first entered my mind. Are Alek's personalities the result of a disorder which would then lend the rest of the book to further extrapolation on how to treat such a disorder but the problem is the author doesn't treat it that way. She doesn't treat it as an illness that might require treatment but just lets it be and I don't know if that is good message to give to anybody who struggles with a mental illness. There is a possiblity that the author doesn't see this as an illness but as a case of multiple souls in one body which does happen in fiction but I feel it could have been better depicted if that is the message the author wanted to send. Instead the message she ends up sending is about a person with a potential mental disease who has been ostracized by his family becuase of said disease and continues to struggle with it well into adulthood but never gets any help to actually deal with it.

So yeah that is an issue, but if unlike me you are reading this book for fun and are not looking for any deep meaningful messages then you will probably enjoy the book. I did have a enjoyable experience reading this book but writing up this review has brought up a lot of concerns I have with this book. The premise for the next book seems interesting with the setup that we got for it in this one, you can definitely enjoy the chemistry between the MCs in this series if nothing else.

So glad that I had the pleasure of reading the second installment of Prophesy: The Bringer of Wrath.

I loved the story of these two characters and enjoyed revisiting th the old ones. Alek and Bell where so well match. Three souls in one body that was pull apart by tragedy and slow out back together by their fated mate (beloved).

The action is great, the sex is on fire and the story keep me reading until my eyes started to burn. So ready for Book Three.

I know the saying goes, "Shoot your shot!" Which kind of defects the purpose. When you mate bite them, upon being introduced.

Well this is a M/MMM story. It was nicely done. How each build a relationship. The Vampire Kings best friend gets only the best. Belleron isn't a push over. This Alpha male was forged on the battle field. While that's one thing they have in common.

So their's the kings bestie, a brother, the protector, and the killer of all whom conquer! I can dig-it

This one is more gritty than the first so but the storyline is still very interesting with the new couple.

I think I liked this book for the most part. I have no complaints or nitpicks about. But I didn't LOVE it. It was nice. I liked the further world building. There's a big revenge plot that's interesting. The romance was fun. It's basically a Quad, but with two bodies. I liked that they all had distinct characteristics. I admit I got a little frustrated, particularly at the beginning. I thought the "angst" were just tantrums. But it got better pretty quickly. The plot wrapped up kind of mehly but I'm excited for the third book, I'm curious about the couple. If it is the couple I think it is, it'll be incredible.

Nice. I liked this one more than the first. Alek had more issues and the relationship wasn’t smooth sailing. I liked the uniqueness. Out of the three, my favourite was Wrath. Felt sorry for what he’d been through. Secondary favourite was Mac, if not for him there’d be no progress. I’m looking forward to his story. The characters were overpowered but I liked how pride balanced it out. The plane scene was great. Glad I finally read this one.

Get to this goodness. Get to it NOW!!

Apologies while the reader in me screams “ I want MORE! I need MORE!! Please let it not end.”

That was amazing Author AE Via. So very perfect.
For all this while, I regarded Part #I of the series: Justice and Wick’s story, as the gold standard for all the fated mates, shifter stories I read. Part #2 topped my expectations and ticked off all boxes. It was so good.
Going in, I do have to say that this can’t be read as a standalone and completely suggest catching up on the last few chapters of Prophesy #1 to bring yourself up to speed.

Prophesy II brings us the story of Alexsei and Belleron, fated mates as destined by Mother Nature herself. But it offers more than just a paranormal romance story- self acceptance, struggle with one’s own demons, love and hope. It’s a wild ride right from page one as Belleron realizes that he might be in for more than what he thought he had coming. I was quite speculative of Bell’s acceptance of Alex’s struggles at first, but the Author’s brilliant writing makes his character grow on you and you realize that he’s just perfect for all of Alex- the Alpha, the protector and the vengeful destroyer, as predicted by the Prophecies.

|"It’s written in Romanian. It says. My heart. My God. My shield.”
Bell gasped. It was perfect. His Alpha. His Wrath and his Wolf.|

The highlight of this story is the way the Author has written the different entities that make up Alex. Her narrative style and use of language complements the great story line and makes it so very perfect. The intimate scenes are HOT (quite literally) and the way the romance builds up is beautiful to read. There is not much I can say without spoiling it, but the way Bell brings about the much required stability and love in Alex’s life and accepts all sides of him willingly-understands their purposes, their needs, their insecurities and the love they crave for, is so wonderful. There is still more to come and I would have loved a sneak-peek into the next book like in the case of Part #1 (I truly didn’t want the book to end).

Totally recommend. Can’t wait for Part#3 (*Bats puppy eyes at Author*).

The Bringer of Wrath is the second book in The Alpha and the King series, and it absolutely needs to be read in order! If you don't, you won't get the full benefit from this book, including the nuances between the characters.

This book continues where book one, Prophesy, finishes. Bell is an alpha vampire, Lord High to the King, and is in no way subservient. Alek is an alpha too, and the Alpha Zenith's Second. Alek and Bell have some teething troubles as they try to find their balance. Alek also doesn't think he is good enough for Bell, as he is 'broken' - quite literally as it happens. Alek has two other distinct entities living with him - Wolf and Wrath. I loved how these were quite obviously different, and also how Bell coped with that.

This was a fantastic story that not only gives you Alek and Bell's story but also gives you further insight into the overall story arc. Very well written, and 100% enjoyable, I have no hesitation in recommending this book, although that is on the proviso you read book one first!
