A little of what you fancy does you good… Jill Maxwell wins big! So why is she so unhappy? And who is the one-legged murderer? …but lots of custard creams is even better.
There's a lot going on in this book. There's the usual murder, Belladonna changing her appearance, Winky up to his usual antics, a missing cat, unusual dreams for Jill and her sister planning to move.
My second-least-favorite character, her grandmother, is up to her usual if-someone-stars-a-business then I-need-to-start-the-same-kind antics. One thing that is missing in these, though, is what does Jill's grandma do with the money that she makes on all these businesses? She doesn't seem to be a generous type of person.
The landlord plans a war on pigeons, Amber and Pearl are up to their usual it-won't-work ideas for their business, more cats go missing and something about Winky will carry over into the next book in the series.
It's a fairly typical book in the series. It's good but it could be better.
entertaining urban fantasy mystery adventure series
This is an entertaining urban fantasy adventure mystery series. If I’m cast of characters and a uniquely entertaining storyline. Jill Maxwell is a witch she lives in the human world and he’s married to her police officer husband. She has family her adopted sister who also lives in human world and her family as well as a grandmother aunt and a couple cousins who live in the supernatural world and are all witches. She is a private investigator in human world and also stepped into the supernatural world on occasion to assist people using her private investigator skills as well. Series has a bit of Snark in the character often makes remarks to the reader on occasion. It is a uniquely funny and entertaining series involving mysteries murders and other crimes that Geo must help solve. She can also see and talk to ghosts and also talk to most animals. Check it out
Once again Jill has several cases on the go in all the realms. Somewhere amongst all her business Jack surprises her with a lottery ticket needless to say her dislike of surprises leads her down the garden path. Still a lot of laughs being had in this wonderful series.
This fun series has a great story about the adventure of a PI who is also a witch. The cases are fun, lighthearted mysteries solved by the end of the book. I believe they are best read in order. Fantastic reads when you want to check out of your current reality and enter a magical realm where anything can happen.
Poor Jill. It seems like all the good stuff in life goes to others in this book. But, Jill gets to help many people and solve lots of mysteries, which is what I like about this book. She even does Winky a good turn. Lots of amusement in store in this episode of Jill’s life.
Yes, Jill saves the day again. However, it takes her a bit of time to get to it.This particular book was not quite as good as the others but still very enjoyable. Can't wait to see what happens next in Jill's P.I. World.
Poor Jill...for being a private investigator she does have some funny mishaps. Her cases this book were very intriguing, I really enjoyed them. There wasn't much 'magicky' stuff, but I'm sure grandma will soon rectify that!
Mostly I read serious books and murder mysteries. Every now and then I want to read something fun. This book and the entire series till the bill. Start at book one though.
This is yet another cute story bound to give you a chuckle from Adele Abbott series. Jill is known for her feisty smart mouth who finds herself in crazy signals as usual.
Absolutely wonderful characters that interact with each other beautiful! Fabulous plot twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this series.
I can't seem to get enough of this series! Even when I take a break and read something else, I'm eager to get back to Jill and her wackyness. If you're looking for good mysteries and lots of laughs, this is the series for you.
Another tromp through Jill's nutty life. A harsh ending for one of her mysteries and a good ending for CASS, though I wish the denouement would have been unfolded a bit more.
I think this was a good book the ending was nice but I think that adele aboot ended the book at a odd time. So that is what takes my 4 stars instead of 5.
More intrigue and humour from the Witch PI with some great cases and even non-cases - the lottery was a bit daft if that was really the prize no one would ever enter it again. What a scam! The building of the worlds is great and the catch up on the characters from the associated series "Susan Hall Investigates" was also grand to. Onward to book #33!
