Rate this book
After I dropped my bombshell secret in front of a full church,
Both Jackson and Matt left me standing at the altar.
No one saw any of this coming.
Especially not me.

I’m about to become a single mom.
And my future is no longer just about me,
or what I want.
I need to put my unborn baby’s needs first.

Matt professes to love me.
He is the safe, proper choice,
offering us a future filled with sunny holidays, stability and
a safe commitment.

Everything Jackson offers me,
comes from a place of duty, not love.
Why won’t this man let me get close to his heart?
Can I face a future that promises nothing but uncertainty and heartache?

I’m not always good, and perhaps, your mom wouldn’t approve.
But I’m going to find a life that’s right for my baby,
And no matter what,
I’m going to make sure my child gets a happy ending.
Even if it feels like that choice will break my heart.

Spoilers throughout.

I wasn't a huge fan of book one, but so much was left unresolved, I chose to read the second book hoping for an ending. And I am still angry at myself for wasting my own time.

This book picks up where book 1 left off: Emily has just left Michael at the altar and admitted to being pregnant with Jackson’s baby, leaving Jackson to presume they’ll be getting married because this is the 19th century and single mothers are as bad as lepers.

Even worse than book one, this is the most depressing contemporary romance I’ve ever read, and not because anything particularly tragic happens, but because the h is treated like shit by everyone and she never gets the upper-hand.

Emily learns early after moving to Virginia and marrying Jackson that after he proposed to her and she said no, because he doesn’t love her, he went back to Virginia and talked to his ex, Harper, about their future together. Then he returns to NY to tell Emily to marry Mike, because he can give her what she wants, despite him being not only emotionally abusive but physically as well. But Mike screws up royally in public, Emily asks Jackson if his offer is still on the table, he says yes, and married they get. But when Emily confronts Jackson about what she learned, that he wanted to get back with Harper, he never denied it or explained himself. But, he’s committed so don’t worry, he wont’s cheat on her as long as she continues to have sex with him. ‘AS LONG AS SHE CONTINUES TO HAVE SEX WITH HIM’!? What if she’s on bedrest? Or decides she wants to boycott sex a while until he starts acting human? Welp, she’s ‘no longer having sex with him’ so I guess he’s off the hook. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Emily’s weak and desperate for a man that continues to eye-screw his ex in public (just to come back with the excuse of ‘we have history’), but he has the gall to accuse Emily of being unfaithful to him. How rich. But the moment he touches or kisses her, she loses all fight and lets him do whatever he wants. It’s pathetic.

Jackson is never given time to evolve and become a better man. Instead, a contrived ‘I realized what I could lose’ moment happens and *BAM* all is forgiven. No, he never confronts Harper (his ex) for trying to poison Emily’s dog or for harassing her, his very pregnant wife. He waits until after the baby is born to ever say I love you. He accused Emily of being at fault for not making friends more easily when A) she’s accused of ‘forgetting who she belongs to’ if she speaks to a man outside of his presence and B) all of the women openly ridicule, mock and gossip about her and he never. Once. Stands. Up. For. Her. Not once.

Jackson is not a desirable hero. He’s an emotionally stunted jerk that’s incapable of sensitivity at Emily’s position. But he’s the hottest guy in the world with a big stick so that makes up for it, I guess. *Cough sarcasm cough* He’s just trying to take responsibility for a baby he doesn’t even bother to attend the doctor’s appointments of. No, of course he doesn’t, because when Emily repeatedly texts him (admittedly, after he experiences a tragedy but she has been there for him every step of the way), he never opens a single one of her texts. But he’s capable of opening his sexts from Harper? AND HE NEVER JUSTIFIES WHY THAT IS!?

I hate that Emily stays with him. This book was so GD frustrating and infuriating – I have no hope of reading any of Stone’s other books.

This book is not representative of love. It’s just a lonely woman with no family desperate to get one so badly, she’ll abandon all self-respect for a man that never deserves her. Jackson had a crappy childhood, yes. But how he manages to be so utterly blind to Emily’s plight is beyond me. Anyone with half a heart would want to be there for the mother of their child and actually follow through, not give excuse after excuse for his absence and apathy. Just like her last fiancé. She left one emotionally abusive relationship for another. That’s not a HEA.

Something about this series resonates; could be the allure of forbidden love or the adorable but at times frustrating heroine. Whatever it is, I was invested in the love between Jackson and Emily and did not want the story to end. Perfection!

Warning: Rage Ahead!!!

I. Am. So. Frustrated.

This 1-star review hits me especially deep because it had everything I typically love in a romance read.

Navy SEAL- check
Broody alpha- check
Taboo vibes- check
Popular guy/unpopular girl- check

I read a couple of the Vancouver Wolves books a while back and remembered liking them so I. was. ready. for. this.

And... What the actual fuck just happened?

BOOK ONE RECAP WITH SPOILERS:
So back in book one, we meet Emily who is your typical quiet, shy, doormat h. I didn't love her but she was fine. At the time, she is engaged to Matt The Raging Asshole. His pseudo-brother Jackson shows up to stay with them for 3 months and *boom* sparks fly. Jackson is a Navy SEAL who is hot, thoughtful, and a picture perfect romance H. There's a lot of back and forth with Emily being an indecisive mouse... yada yada yada... then Matt finally dumps her for her best friend and gives Jackson the go ahead. Oh, and Emily is also a virgin because of course she is. She & Jackson get their freak on then surprise Matt gets in a wreck and they have to go the hospital. Oh and he also has a brain tumor that made him an asshole. Oh and he also has amnesia. Following the trajectory of this telenovela, Emily keeps on keeping on with Matt until she announces that she is pregnant with Jackson's baby at her wedding and runs away. END SCENE.

Okey dokey. Now that we are caught up, let's get into the shit show that was book two.

Basically take everything you ever liked about Jackson and throw it out the window.
He is not sweet.
He is not thoughtful.
He is not our picture perfect romance novel H.

In true romance fashion, he proposes marriage to Emily after finding out about the pregnancy because he wants to "honor his commitment". *swoon* Emily says fuck you because she is an independent, financially stable woman and doesn't need a man. Emily says yes.

She moves to Virginia to live on base with him and gets a wake-up call. All the wives talk massive shit about her. Does Jackson defend her? Of course not. He basically blames her for not making friends with the vile cunts. And then he turns into a jealous prick every time she talks to the one person who was actually nice to her. Even though he is making googoo eyes at his ex-girlfriend the entire time.

Oh yeah, Jackson was dating this chick Harper for three year then broke up with her the day before he met Emily. Jackson's handling of the Harper/Emily situation really put the nail in his coffin for me. Harper is a cruel bitch who tried to kill Emily's dog and aggressively shoved her when pregnant. She also consistently harasses Emily while sexting and flirting with Jackson. And what does our wonderful hero do? FLIRTS BACK, giggles, makes googly eyes, and opens the sexts. He gaslights tf out of Emily by defending Harper every chance he gets even though she is sending him pictures of her naked vagina. Not cool dude.

So Jackson refuses to acknowledge that he has any feelings for Emily, openly flirts with his ex-girlfriend, and doesn't support his wife at all even after ripping her form her home and dropping her in a land of venomous bitches. But what pushes him over the edge?? Emily reading an old journal in the attic. Dude. It wasn't even that big of a deal. But apparently her being able to read is sooooooooo disgusting that he ends it. He is supposed to be redeemed in the last 10% of the book but it was too little, too late bro. He still couldn't even tell her that he loved her until after she took him back and pushed out his baby.

Now what about Emily? Honestly I am not even going to waste the word count on her. She was like every other spineless, meek, doormat, virgin heroine you have ever read about.

Obviously, I hate the h and H. But all the other characters suck too. There was literally ONE decent friend: Beth. Every other person treated the h like absolute trash. RIDICULOUS. Even the H's male friends were rude and condescending at first. And we get no sort of redemption storylines. One minute, the wives are raging bitches then we are supposed to believe they are BFFs because they want Emily to paint their kids' rooms? Nah man.

I have never read a book where I hated every single character (except Beth). So no matter what, that alone would make it a 1-star for me. But I also have to say that the storyline was an absolute mess. Is this really the same author of Home Game? It was as if she tried to fit every single plot line possible into this book- but the plots were never resolved.
Matt and Julia? Unresolved.
Irene? Unresolved.
Harper? Unresolved.
Remember that serial killer back in book one? UNRESOLVED. WTF happened to him? Why was he even there?
And how does this chick end up with parents who killed in a home abduction, then she is attacked by a serial killer, then she is held up at gunpoint, then she is attacked by an ex BFF, then her husband is MIA? This is such a pet peeve of mine. Pick ONE ~life changing tragedy~ and build your story around that rather than having 47055049 different things happen. Like, you are ATTACKED BY A SERIAL KILLER and we never hear about it again??? UGHHHHH

OKAY. I AM DONE RANTING.

Basically: The hero sucks. The heroine sucks. And so does everyone else. Save your brain energy and head over to the Vancouver Wolves series instead.

It had really good reviews but seriously it feels like I didn't read the same book as everyone else. This book was by far the worst I've ever read. Emily is a complete doormat. Everyone takes advantage of Emily. Jackson is a moron same as Matt. I didn't feel any connection between Jackson and Emily not sure what everyone is talking about. Smh

Other woman drama

Book one wasn’t too bad. I ended up with no respect for Emily since she was going to keep the pregnancy a secret, it doesn’t matter what Jackson said he did or did not want, he deserved to be told. So coming into book two I was already against her. And I was loving Jackson.
But plot twist! Jackson has been switched out for a totally different guy now personality wise. The silent serious protective staring is gone and in its place is a serious SEAL, but one that laughs with his buddies and drinks.
I did not feel the love in this book.
Perhaps a huge part is because Harper, Jackson’s ex who he apparently planned to get back with after NY, was heavy in this book. She caused a lot of problems.
He had even previously bought an ENGAGEMENT RING for her and Emily found it in a draw. But his excuse was that being with Harper was EASY. Uh. So she was gonna get a ring? It’s obvious Harper is a terrible person by her actions.
And she works with him!
I hated the fact that this writer tried to make Jackson some dark tortured soul in this book and instead he came off not even liking Emily, loving Harper and making poor choices.
He would open Harpers texts, but not Emily’s. What the heck was that about?
He would still talk to Harper. And the way that Emily described him mooning and smiling over Harper, that was heart wrenching! Hearing some other girl tell Emily that Jackson looks at her that way and that he shows PDA with Emily did NOT erase the words put out by Emily regarding Jackson and Harper.
And then after Harper pushes Emily does bleachers, she’s just not even mentioned again. Uh! What? Did he freak you out on her? Did she say sorry? Is she still on his team that will take him on missions?
Poor Emily!
But then after he gets hurt, he realizes then he loves Emily even though he knew before? Like, what?
This was a totally different H personality from book one. And I did NOT see the ex coming in this story. Had I known, I wouldn’t have read it.
I truly felt like he loved Harper, even though he said being with her was easy. I just couldn’t buy it that he really wanted Emily. I felt like Emily should have went into a severe depression.
But I did like learning about some of his SEAL buddies and I thought they would make up future books, perhaps one would get with her friend Beth.
Nope, totally random different SEALs going forward apparently.
Would not recommend.

Wow!! I enjoyed the first part of this duo, but the second part took the cake. This story sucked me in from the very first page and wouldn't let me put it down until I had finished it. I stayed up way too late reading this one, because I just couldn't go to sleep until I had finished every page. And for someone like me, who literally skims most sex scenes in stories finding them boring and repetative, this story had some of the hottest sex scenes I have ever read. I definitely didn't skim through any of them in this story.

In this one, Emily still suffers from having literally ZERO self esteem, and she takes shit from everyone around her. It is horrible that she never truly gets a backbone and sticks up for herself EVER, but the angst from all of this verbal and emotional abuse was delicious. Jackson's history was devastating and crushingly heartbreaking. I wanted to cry for him.

Aside from that grievance though, I was in heaven after reading this story. It was just.....

This duet follows Jackson and Emily. I enjoyed the series but felt it dragged on at parts… like maybe streamlining into one book might’ve been better. I also needed more from Jackson’s POV… especially during book 2.

In interest of my time (and how far behind I am on reviews), I’m only going to write one review for both. I’ll try to be vague, but there will be small spoilery bits (plot outline), so please STOP if you want zero details.

Ugh, fuck this book. The first book had enough drama between Matt and Jackson. The Harper drama was just too much. I hated her, but I hated Jackson for the whole situation too.

Emily continues to be a doormat and doesn’t realize that neither of the two men are a good choice for her. She wants love but neither of them are giving that to her. She can be a single mom, come on. Have some damn respect for yourself.

Jackson knew Emily was a virgin and she obviously had no reason for any kind of birth control. He chose to have sex with her without a condom. He didn’t even pull out. And he has the audacity to ask her if she got pregnant on purpose? Fuck no.

Emily asked Jackson why he wanted to be with her. You know what he eventually responds with? “It’s the sex.” OH FUCK OFF. BASTARD.

Sure, the ending was nice and all, but the whole story pissed me the fuck off. Jackson had a bad childhood but that is no reason for Emily to continue to endure being treated like she didn’t matter, like she wasn’t loved and was there just as an obligation. Complete and utter bullshit.

I really enjoyed this duet and I am going to stalk this author now. This story isn't perfect by any means but it was different and engaging.

My heart broke a little for Emily and the situation she found herself in as a military wife. I don’t know why I felt so compelled to her because in all honestly, she was a little whiney, but I understood her. I understood her need to please people, the awkwardness she feels in new environments and struggling to make friends.

I was also a little pissed at Jackson for his behaviour in parts, but his an Emily’s love stood the test in the end.

I do have one small criticism and that the ending felt rushed. I didn’t feel that we got to enjoy the conclusion enough and we had no resolution for the villains. Matt, Matt’s mum, Jennifer, Harper. What happened to them? What happened to the poisoned dog food? I mean hopefully they’re all six feet under somewhere but it would’ve been nice to know.

My fiance's brother part Two by Idette Stone.
Emily and Jackson are back. They get married as Emily is having his baby and she moves to the base with him. But Harper who is Jackson's ex wants him back. Will she succeed or will Jackson declare his love for Emily?
Omg this was an absolutely fantastic read. Very emotional too. I loved Jackson and Emily. I hated Harper. Highly recommended. 5*. Would give more if I could.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Umm... well this one hurt. Tbh I’m pretty exhausted. There’s nothing quite like reading about character who gets beat down time and time again to really tucker you out. For me the ending was quite bittersweet. But I tore through these two books like it was nobodies business! Although, I am a little depressed now. But kinda happy? Idk. So keep that in mind if you decide to pick this up!

Yeah, this book just made me not like either main character. One was easily pushed over and pliant to other peoples needs and the other was a jackass who used trama as an exuse his terrible behavior. This book just didn't do it for me

I really don’t even know what to say - I don’t think I have ever disliked a main character more than I disliked Jackson in this book.

I get that he’s messed up because of his childhood - but how is he so attentive, observant and protective in book one and such and ignorant, hurtful jackass of a husband in book two? Completely disregarding pretty much anything Emily says about Harper - then has the balls to ask her why she didn’t tell him Harper was harassing her. I was as dumbfounded as Emily in that moment and I just wanted to throat punch him.

There is no way in this universe I would have forgiven him as easily as Emily did. Yes, he said everything she needed to hear when he finally had his come to Jesus moment - but damn girl, make a d*chen*zzle work for it a bit. Have some self respect. A crappy childhood is not a reason to give someone a pass for how they treated you without some sort of reparations. He comes back and tells you he wasn’t going to let you go after he treated you like crap and you’re just all “swoon, ok”? No. You say, “I want to stay, and I want to love you, but you have hurt me in just about every way imaginable for months. You completely blew off any issue or concern I brought up to you, you were able to read Harper’s sexts but couldn’t even read mine and I’m your wife, you treated me like garbage when I’m the mother of your child, you told me to leave and not be here when you got back. I will stay and work on this marriage because I love you - but you sure have a lot to make up to me, and to prove that I can trust you to be a respectful and equal partner in this relationship. This is your last and only chance remaining - don’t f*ck this up again or you will see your child in the future but you won’t see me, I’m not your doormat.”

There. I fixed the ending. Jackson grovels, tells his ex Harper to shove off and blocks her number and that if any more tainted meat makes it in his yard he’ll turn her in to command, grovels some more to Emily. Somehow proves himself to her, not quite sure how. Maybe then I’d be ok with a woman who has the means to take care of herself and her child 100% on her own sticking with the idiot who treated her horribly.

Awful

This is the first book I have read that the h was treated so horribly. It’s was awful. She was treated bad in first book and you think she’s getting this grand HEA in this book. But a big fat NO!
So many unresolved issues like why don’t we seee how Jackson handles OW? What happens to Matt? How and why on earth would Jackson want anything todo with Matt and his Mom.
I could go on and on. Doormat h and weak H.

My rating: 4 stars

What I loved: I loved the ow drama. I loved how Emily(h) didn’t give up on Jackson(H). I was glad she finally stood up for herself especially with the ow. My heart bled for Jackson and what he endured growing up. It was sweet that he asked one of the other ladies to give Emily a chance.

What I didn’t like: I really wished we got Jackson’s pov. I really wanted to know why he would open the ow messages and not Emily’s. I was pissed when he ask Emily why didn’t she tell him that the ow was harassing her, especially when he knew already. Hell she told him that she believed the ow poisoned her dog and he acted like the ow would never do that. Also, I really wanted to read the conversation Jackson had with the ow. He said he would handle it but we don’t get to read it. Hated how the ow basically just disappears and we never know what happened with her. Lastly, I wanted to an update on his half brother (I hope he had a miserable life along with his mom).

***Major Spoilers/ Details/Triggers: This is book 2 for the same couple. I didn’t read book 1. Mentions of child abuse on the H. h is about to marry H’s half brother when she decides she can’t do it and let him and everyone know that she is pregnant with the H’s baby. H asks the h to marry him. At first the h says no. She doesn’t want to marry for just the baby. She is in love with the H and she thinks he doesn’t love her. H’s half brother apologizes for how he has been treating the h and asks for them to make it work. h doesn’t want him. When the h gets a gun aimed at her the H’s half brother ducks instead of trying to protect her, while the H grabs the gun the h asks the H if the offer still stands. H and h get married and H leaves to go back on base. H is a navy SEAL. When a house is open the H tells the h to come on base. When h gets there she meets his SEAL brothers. She over hears them talking about ow and how H was with her for three years. h didn’t know about her and asks the H about her. H tells her that he was with her for 3 years and they broke up right before he left for NY where he meet the h. When H and h run into the ow at the store, the ow makes a scene. H shuts down. When they get invited to a bbq, the ladies snub the h and the h overhears them talk about the H with the ow and how the h is not cut out for that life. They think the H is going to go back to the ow. h upset decides to stick to herself until another guy talks to her. Of course the H gets jealous even though ow was talking to him and was touching his arm. When the h brings it up the H tells her that him and the ow are done that he made a commitment to her. When the H is sent on a mission the h’s dog gets poisoned. h tells the H but he believes it was there from an animal. But h keeps finding more in the yard. Ow continues to cause problems (telling the h that her and the H talk, that he is still having sex with her, sexting the H, going on runs with the H…) and the H continues to tell the h that he is committed to her not the ow. When one of the H’s SEAL brothers die, the H shuts down. During that time the h asks the H to go to her ultrasound appointment. He said he would be there but doesn’t show up even with the h texting him. When she gets home and confronts him, he said he didn’t see the text. When h looks at his phone she sees that the ow has been sexting the H and he read those but left the h’s unread. h finally having enough leaves. H finds her and tells her he was sorry and that he will start treating her how a husband should treat a wife. H finally starts making everything right. H gets upset when he finds out that the h read his father’s journal right before he leaves for a mission he tells her to not be there when he gets back. H’s helicopter is shot down and he is MIA. After being missing for 23 days, H is finally found. h goes to him at the hospital and the H finally tells the h that he loves her. HEA with them having a baby boy.

Final thoughts: This was my first book by this author and I will definitely read more from her. I truly hope she writes a book with the H’s pov because I would love to read it.

This is fucking horrible. I don’t know why I didn’t dnf. I’m pretty sure I just wanted to find out whether these motherfuckers are as stupid as I initially thought. Turns out they really fucking are. What in fuck.

Emily, I understand where you’re coming from but darling there is no reason to stay with someone who repeatedly treats you like shit. The fact that he was in a committed 3 year long relationship up until the day before you met him is red flags. He got her a wedding ring? Red flag. He supports her and puts you down? Red flag. He reads her sexts and doesn’t bother to look at your own innocent texts? Red flag. The fact that he doesn’t explicitly tell her to back the fuck off is a big fucking red flag.

This book made me so fucking angry. The girl is minted for fucks sake. She could have literally went off and lived her life and found someone that was worthy of her. Matt and Irene were some next level money hungry motherfuckers and that bitch Julie? How in fuck were you still friends with her. Literally had no balls. I was rooting for you to leave these motherfuckers in the dust and be the girl boss I thought you could be.

There is so much about this book that made me so fucking mad. I hated it so much. Absolutely awful.

Jackson did a complete 180 in this book after he was so decent in the first. Was I actually reading the second book or some sort of made up alternate universe? Despised this so much.

There were so many plotholes too. Like what the fuck happened to Matt and Julie? What happened with Harper? Did anyone say shit about the poison? Like so much shit that was left unanswered. Ffs

This book absolutely boils my piss. The motherfucker should have died. Cba

This book doesn’t even deserve a one star rating. It deserves nothing. There should be an option to choose where absolutely fucking loathe a book.

The second installment of this series was even better than the first book.

It is lovely to see how Emily and Jackson grow with each others influence.

The heroine was frustrating at times, but if you took a closer look, you saw the strong side of her shortcomings. Where other women would have pulled out the drama queen or would have given up already. Her flaws and imperfections made her stronger in holding on to him and believe in love.
And that was magnificent to watch. That even to an imperfection are two sides.

Wowza part one and this has everything that I love to make one intense drama filled read; infidelity, forbidden love, amnesia, wicked mothers, unplanned pregnancy, and OW drama on steroids. I admit the heroine drove me a little nuts and she needed a good shaking a few times, but I got her and rooted for her every step of the way. The H needed a good swift kick too, but that’s what made this so fun. I love books like this. 5 stars all the way.

This was SO bad. SO, SO bad. Emily is a push over and Jackson is just straight up an asshole. Horribly written and there is no chemistry between the MCs aside from their spicy scenes, but even then, they withdraw from one another after each encounter which makes you question why are they even being intimate in the first place. I also don't generally mind OW drama, but this was so painful. Especially when Jackson placed the blame on Emily and told her to basically get over it.

I loved the way this one made me feel. The two of them had such great chemistry. The journey was fun and the ending wrapped up in a little bow. Just the way I like it.

Emily was sweet and awkward and so darn likeable. Jackson was protective and loyal and honorable. Not to mention Chloe, the adorable dog. I loved how Alien was the name of their fetus and their banter and her inner voice were truly funny.

It had all the elements:
-Bad behaviour - leading to hate of Matt and julie and Irene and Harper
-Jealousy - I admit Mark was a nice little addition - especially when it seemed like Jackson was slipping into his old ways with his ex - somehow, miraculously, within minutes when Em starts talking to Mark, Jackson shows up to exert his possessiveness. It was awesome
- Retribution - although I would have preferred more. I liked how Emily spoke up when she overheard mean girl gossip behind her back.
-Jackson telling all those ladies who kept hanging off him to buzz off - haha

I'm a sucker for when the FMC is the exception to every rule for the MMC and he does things with her he never does with anyone else. It was exactly what I was looking for on a Sunday.

Definitely recommend. I left feeling immensely satisfied. Plan to read more by this author.

This review is for Part 1 and 2 of my My Fiance's Brother.

I don't recall reading any of Odette's work before and I went into this book blindly based on the cover (bad, I know) and the synopsis. This duet was one of the best romance books I've read in a while. I read the 1st book (while I should have been working) and immediately downloaded the 2nd book and read both in 24 hrs. Emily drove me crazy a good bit of the time because of the fact that she let people walk all over her but I dealt with it. I just liked Jackson's energy and the fact that he was a SEAL. He definitely sealed his feelings up for a bit but it was nice to see Emily slowly break those walls down.

The conclusion of the love triangle between Matt, Jackson and Emily.
Emily made it to the church but she cannot marry someone she isn’t in love with. After all she’s also pregnant too.

Jackson is a navy seal, Matt just recovered from his accident and tumor and Emily has no time left.

Holy bananas this book, it was a rollercoaster. Warning have a box of tissues handy. There were some cute banter points, but otherwise getting to know Jackson is not easy. He’s got a fortress around his heart. He’s determined to not have a family or commitment and he’s dipped his foot in commitment.

Matt is a manipulative mastermind I couldn’t believe the length that he went for things. Julie makes an appearance and she is horrible. Irene isn’t any better she’s hot and cold and when you find out why- you want to hate her.

Emily goes through the ringer through all of this, no choice is easy, but she’s stubborn, strong and eventually her love pays off- I don’t know how she did it. Her choice was the best choice, and probably hardest choice.

The abuse both physical, mental and emotional presented throughout this book is so sad- sometimes it’s his past, sometimes it’s the present, sometimes it’s gossiping queens of those around them.

I would love to hug Jackson and cuff him upside the head at times too- he’s a frustrating character that makes the biggest leaps in this.

Emily- such an amazing person that doesn’t deserve the treatment she gets- but she fights, and treads water, and fights some more- such a strong, determined, loving person even with her anxiety and insecurities. In the end she has her family, she always wanted. Beth is also a great friend- the best to her.

My emotions have gone through the ringer in this book, I couldn’t put it down, leaving me in suspense how things would go. Once I reached the ending- it was cute, but a bit abrupt considering it took two books to get there. I wished I knew more of the future and how much it changed with him loving her and baby Theo. Also Beth? Or his work? Maybe a few years later update? More kids? They worked so hard to get there- I just want to know they stayed successful.
Did they take down Harper? Was she the dog poisoner?
Julie? Matt? Irene?

I would have loved reading from the male point of view- especially from Jackson’s. Sadly this is only written from Emily’s point of view.

I was definitely holding on to my seat to see what happens next, and did he truly love her. She just wanted a family. Well written, character development fantastic. I didn’t know what to expect next. Will definitely read more by this author now just need some adjustment time to release my connection to this book- phew I can breath again.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

So in the first book h has a fiance who acts crazy and his step-brother comes and stays with them. I did not read that book, but turns out fiance had a tumor that made him cheat and shit. h was virgin and cheated with the H (step-brother), when she found out about fiance cheating. h got pregnant.
Book 2. Turns out H had a 3y commited realationship. Before he came to visit his brother, they broke up because he had survivors guilt and stuff from bad Navy seal mission and OW wanted to support him.
H marries pregnant h and they move into military base (where OW also works). h finds out about OW, when all other women hate her - because she stole H and everybody thought they were the thing. h had very hard time, hears a lot of other women bitch about her, how they say OW was better, that H still runs with OW in the mornings, is on missions with OW etc.
H is crazy posessive of h, and some OM always makes googly eyes at her. h dog gets poisoned and h impies it was OW. H gets all mad and says like he KNOWS OW, they were together so long etc. H always looking OW and people make comments about their sexual chemistry.
Honest.. it is brutal and i love it. No physical cheating
