Open Children’s Eyes and Hearts to the World Around Them
Even Me follows kid sisters Bella and Arie on their mission trip to Africa. Join this pair as they prepare for their long journey, travel to their faraway destination, meet and serve the people of Uganda, and share the spiritual lessons the Lord taught them along the way.
As Bella and Arie’s adventure unfolds, children will experience a new culture and see what a short-term mission trip looks like, from fundraising to service projects to sharing about Jesus. They will learn that regardless of culture, class, or color, all people are made in God’s image and loved equally by Him.
Most important, young ones will discover that God can use them to accomplish great things. Use this story to spark meaningful conversations about His purpose and plan for children’s lives.
Looking for a book that shares serving in missions and experiencing new cultures with your children? Here is a great one! Written by Adrienne Camp, the wife of recording artist Jeremy Camp (and a singer in her own right!), this book shares the story of her two daughters' journey and experiences on a missions trip to Uganda in Africa. It is seriously a sweet sweet story. It tells of how God opens doors when He wants us to go. It shares of the journey in getting there. And once there, they experience a culture that is unlike their own - different dress, living, environment, food, etc. Though so much is unfamiliar to them, yet one thing they have in common - their humanity. The illustrations are absolutely magnificent too and I have spent long moments on each picture enjoying all it has to add to the story. I have a copy that I will read to my grand kids. I hope that they will see how missions work is open to people of all ages and God does not only call adults! Furthermore, missions fields are not just in Africa, but all over the world (and even in our very own backyards). It is a great book - and I know it can change the hearts and minds of our children, and even encourage parents.
I had the wonderful opportunity of serving on the launch team of this amazing book. It's a beautifully written story about how her daughters prepared for their mission trip to meet and serve the people of Uganda. This book is a sweet presentation of how God cherishes and can use children to spread His love and that they all have a special place to fill in our world. The rhyming words and illustrations were my favorite part of the book. I found myself studying the illustrations which are sweet, whimsical, detailed and engaging. This would be a wonderful addition to your children's book collection.
I was excited to read this book as my kids have had many questions on what happens on mission trips and how to prepare for them.
In this book you journey with two sisters, Arie and Bella, from when they are preparing to go on a mission trip to Uganda, their trip and all they experienced.
This book is just beautiful, even your youngest will be engaged, captivated by the beautiful pictures and rhyming story. A deep message for the hearts of old and young leaves you encouraged to seek the Lord and follow His call to spread the gospel to the nations. This book makes a beautiful gift.
Have you ever wanted a book to share with your kids about the love of Christ and sharing his life with others? Even Me is a story about two kids who go on an adventure and learn the value of showing God's love. It is a children's book that will inspire kids to want to share the gospel with those around them. I would buy this book not only for my kids if I ever had any, but for my church. I am honored to have had the opportunity to read this book. You won't be sorry that you did, that I can guarantee.
This is a rhyming tale of two girls who go on a missions trip to Uganda and experience a flavor of cultures there and what it’s like to share Jesus with various peoples. Overall, I think this is a helpful book for kids like mine to catch a glimpse of life outside of our cultural context and the joys of sharing Jesus cross-culturally. There are a couple lines in the book that I’m not sure are great and may reinforce stereotypes. Here’s an example: “Their life is so different, so hard and deprived.” That word “deprived” could mean a lot of things.
This book opened up the door to so many important conversations with my kids. Race, ethnicity, nationality, poverty, privilege, service, missions. I’m so thankful Adie took the time to put this book together. Not to mention the beautiful illustrations that captured our attention! A book well done.
