Four years pass and she fights her way to get a job as an intern at ESPN television, while studying journalism at a local college. When Knox comes to the station for an interview he sees the girl who ran away with his heart. When she sees him she ignores the pain of his betrayal does her job. What happens when she discovers that the thing that kept them apart for four years was a lie?
Read this first on Wattpad and loved it so I decided to buy the kindle version.
I have to say, I was slightly disappointed. Reading through made me realise that the author hasn't even gone through it all before publishing. I could see all the mistakes, even grammatical ones - that I saw when I was reading it on Wattpad.
This really feels like a first draft. It could have had great potential, but it just didn't live up to it. All the dialogues felt like I was reading a screenplay instead of a book - it was lacking any emotion or description of the characters. Many things were unfinished and the descriptions were stilted and incomplete.
For example, when Ellie gets the letter from her father, she starts crying, but we don't really feel her emotions. We should have been balling our eyes out alongside her, but I felt completely removed from the story.
Also, I don't know how I didn't notice it before but Knox is a possessive arsehole. He practically forbids her from having any friends and wants to completely control her life. Girl, you should have stayed away while you could.
I am only giving it 3 stars because of nostalgia and because I used the love the story. Realistically, it is closer to 2 stars.
I read this because I remember loving it in middle school/early high school years when it was still on Wattpad and this very much reads like Wattpad.
I don't think I've read a case of insta-love this intense. The two meet and this dude is introducing her to his parents and trying to find her an apartment because he *knows* she's the one within a couple of days.
The descriptions of outfits and physical appearances are chronically Wattpad and the story progresses at the speed of light.
Ellie was born on the wrong side of the tracks and gets referred to as trailer trash very regularly. Despite the years of bullying, she's apparently a goddess amongst men because any member of the male species that comes into contact with her falls madly in love with her right on the spot and she's so infuriatingly oblivious and naive to it all.
Knox is reminded that Ellie breathes and has an instant hard-on.
This book was frustrating and hilarious for all the wrong reasons.
CW: explicit sexual content, sexual harassment + predatory behavior from men, suicide, intense bullying + classism, toxic relationships, parental abuse + neglect.
I LOVE THAT THE STORY WHERE it begins like it’s fast and not boring either. And it’s romantic and sweet how the hero meet the heroine 🥺
‼️LOVE IN FIRST SIGHT for the hero not for the heroine tho...
‼️THE HERO IS OTT POSSESSIVE ALPHA MALE
‼️MANY JEALOUS SCENE FROM THE HERO
SO MANY
‼️THE HEROINE IS A VIRGIN
‼️NO CHEATING
‼️IT HAS SEPARATION for 4 years 🙄🙄🙄🙁 I think because both just too stupid tho... one is waiting and one is also waiting to come. Like seriously? That long? I hate this part tho cause it’s just way too long FOR A CHILDISH REASON.
DURING THIS TIME the hero didn’t say or even mention in the book if he celibate or if he’s been with anyone else during the separation... THE HEROINE THO SHE SAID SHE NEVER been with others...
so this is also annoying 😆😆
‼️HOT SMUT SCENES
‼️THE HERO always says: YOU ARE MINE! Mine
‼️THE HERO never push the heroine away. ONLY THE HEROINE push the hero away with i think for a good reason though but never too much...
‼️DRAMA WITH OW but not too annoying. The hero immediately push the ow away. AND HIS MOM started a drama with the heroine and it’s a bit annoying but in the end the hero defend the heroine because his mom’s reason are so childish. Like is just DOESNT make sense on why she acted like that 🙄
DRAMA WITH OM a lot. THE HEROINE have so many guys likes her so much and even chase her... 4 guys!
BUT ALL THE DRAMA IS NOT TOO ANNOYING...
‼️THE HEROINE IS kinda sassy and THE HERO is a tall guy with soft hearts for the heroine 🥺
‼️THE HERO WANTS the heroine sooo bad...
‼️HAPPY ENDING! They both got married and happy and have 3 kids sooo cute 🥺🥺
I was obsessed with this author on Wattpad when I was in high school. I used to reread all author's stuff.
I remembered it was all removed on Wattpad as it's published and I recently remembered so I searched it up on Kindle.
I read it again and I loved it but so much holes. Also, how weak the main MC when it comes to Knox. She just let him do things. She didn't grow while they were apart, she just agreed to jump back in the relationship.
Also, Jacob. First, he was madly in love with Ellie. Got rejected then tried to commit suicide. Ellie then talks to him and they decided to be bros and sis so she convinced him to join her at Knox's residence a plane away. He was supposed to follow a week later but called to tell Ellie he won't anymore because he's in a relationship with his therapist. What?! Ugghhh.
I used to love this as a high schooler giddy for romance. Not anymore. This is badly written even though it's a good boon. Feel me?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
So many red flags I can't even justify it as a guilty pleasure read because it made my skin crawl.
Male lead: 1. Refuses to let her take birth control 2. Makes her quit her job 3. Makes her move out and move with him 4. Gaslights and guilts her
Female lead: 1. Just???accepts it??? "It's not his fault??""" 2. Girl no 3. Girl run (again)
Male lead brother: 1. Wants to marry her roommate after knowing her a week? 2. She's a cop and just... goes with it??
Spelling and grammar mistakes galore
So much suicide. Both parents and creepy second male lead attempts
Second male lead literally is a cop and hires people to assault her so he can play the hero and she just??? Forgives him??? Even though he tried to k*ll himself right after she rejected him (um) despite knowing how much that hurt her seeing that happen to her parents?
And she just like, keeps him in her life? But don't worry! He gets a therapist!! And then announces they are dating!! Cause that's fine!!!
Loved the story it was captivating unfortunately there are tons of mistakes spelling or in the grammar so I would suggest the book be edited. It takes away from the story quite a bit.
I loved the book. The end was rushed, I would have liked more details through the pregnancy and definitely more on the wedding. Some of the grammar needs work. But they actually plot itself, wonderful!
A great story. I loved reading about Ellie and Knox. Ellie had a lot of struggles and it was good to see just how many people cared about her. Jacob seemed a bit stalkerish at times.
Meeting Ellie had a very interesting start, but I was really annoyed with a lot of the book. I didn't like how Ellie handled things, and I think it was awful how some of the people treated her. This book just wasn't for me.
I read this back in 2013-14 on wattpad and I enjoyed it the second time around. It did have a lot of typos though, but it didn’t take away from Ellie and Knox’s love story!
The first book I read by this author I really liked. This one was idk just not for me I guess. I felt like the plot had too much filler and was pretty repetitive.
