অরূপবাবু- অরূপরতন সরকার পুরী এসেছেন এগারো বছর পর। কলকাতায় তাঁকে দেখলে কেউ ভাবুক বলে মনে করবে না। বিকেলে সমুদ্রের ধারে বেড়াতে গিয়ে কচি গলায় একটি প্রশ্ন হাওয়ায় ভেসে তাঁর কানে এল- " "খোকনের স্বপ্ন" কি আপনার লেখা? '
সাত-আট বছরের ছেলেটি যে এই গল্পের ভক্ত তাতে সন্দেহ নেই। ছেলেটির ভুল ভাঙিয়ে দিয়ে লাভ হল না। কারণ ছেলে ও ছেলের মা উভয়েই গল্পের লেখকের ভক্ত এবং উভয়েই তাঁকেই লেখক বলে ধরে নিয়েছেন। লেখকের খোঁজ নিতে গিয়ে জানতে পারলেন যে শুধু তাঁরা নয় আরও অনেকেই তাঁর ভক্ত- আসলে তাঁর নয়, লেখক অমলেশ মৌলিকের ভক্ত। আর সবাই তাঁকেই অমলেশ মৌলিক ধরে নিয়েছে। তাহলে কি ছুটিটা নিরিবিলিতে কাটানো পণ্ড হয়ে যাবে?

Ray was born in the city of Calcutta into a Bengali family prominent in the world of arts and literature. Starting his career as a commercial artist, Ray was drawn into independent filmmaking after meeting French filmmaker Jean Renoir and watching Vittorio De Sica's Italian neorealist 1948 film, Bicycle Thieves.
Ray directed 36 films, including feature films, documentaries and shorts. He was also a fiction writer, publisher, illustrator, calligrapher, graphic designer and film critic. He authored several short stories and novels, primarily aimed at children and adolescents.
Ray's first film, Pather Panchali (1955), won eleven international prizes, including Best Human Documentary at the Cannes Film Festival. This film, Aparajito (1956) and Apur Sansar (1959) form The Apu Trilogy. Ray did the scripting, casting, scoring, and editing, and designed his own credit titles and publicity material. Ray received many major awards in his career, including 32 Indian National Film Awards, a number of awards at international film festivals and award ceremonies, and an Academy Award in 1992. The Government of India honoured him with the Bharat Ratna in 1992.

Ray's grandfather, Upendrakishore Ray Chowdhury was a writer, illustrator, philosopher, publisher, amateur astronomer and a leader of the Brahmo Samaj, a religious and social movement in nineteenth century Bengal. Sukumar Ray, Upendrakishore's son and father of Satyajit, was a pioneering Bengali author and poet of nonsense rhyme and children's literature, an illustrator and a critic. Ray was born to Sukumar and Suprabha Ray in Calcutta.
Ray completed his B.A. (Hons.) in Economics at Presidency College of the University of Calcutta, though his interest was always in Fine Arts. In 1940, he went to study in Santiniketan where Ray came to appreciate Oriental Art. In 1949, Ray married Bijoya Das and the couple had a son, Sandip ray, who is now a famous film director.
Literary Works:
Ray created two of the most famous fictional characters ever in Bengali children's literature—Feluda, a sleuth in Holmesian tradition, and Professor Shonku, a genius scientist. Ray also wrote many short stories mostly centered on Macabre, Thriller and Paranormal which were published as collections of 12 stories. Ray wrote an autobiography about his childhood years, Jakhan Choto Chilam (1982). He also wrote essays on film, published as the collections: Our Films, Their Films (1976), Bishoy Chalachchitra (1976), and Ekei Bole Shooting (1979).
Awards, Honors and Recognitions:

সাদৃশ্য: দেখুন মশাই, আমি সত্যিই বেশি হইচই পছন্দ করি না। লোকজনের সঙ্গে মেলামেশার অভ্যেসটা নেই।🤷♀️

এত অল্পে এমন চমৎকার গল্প যে বলা যায়— এটাই বোধহয় আমাদের কাছে অকল্পনীয় ঠেকবে। কিন্তু রায়সাহেব সেটা বারবার করে দেখিয়েছেন। ইনফ্যাক্ট, তিনি সেই কাজটা এত বেশিবার করেছেন যে আমরা ব্যাপারটাকে নিতান্ত সহজ বলে ধরে নিয়েছি। তবে লিখতে গেলে বোঝা যায়, হাউ মেনি প্যাডিতে হাউ মেনি রাইস।
ছোটোবেলা আর প্রিয় লেখক নিয়ে ভাবতে গেলে এই গল্পটা মনে পড়বে না, এমন বাঙালি খুঁজে পাওয়া যাবে না। যদি আপনি সেই বিরলস্য বিরল মানুষ হোন, তাহলে অবিলম্বে গল্পটা পড়ে ফেলুন। মাথায় একেবারে ঢালাই হয়ে যাবে এ-জিনিস— গ্যারান্টি দিচ্ছি।
ছোটোবেলা আর প্রিয় লেখক নিয়ে ভাবতে গেলে এই গল্পটা মনে পড়বে না, এমন বাঙালি খুঁজে পাওয়া যাবে না। যদি আপনি সেই বিরলস্য বিরল মানুষ হোন, তাহলে অবিলম্বে গল্পটা পড়ে ফেলুন। মাথায় একেবারে ঢালাই হয়ে যাবে এ-জিনিস— গ্যারান্টি দিচ্ছি।

জীবনে একটাবারের জন্যও যদি সত্যজিৎ রায়কে সামনে পেতাম; সব কয়টা বই দিয়ে বলতাম ছবি এঁকে দিতে।

এক সহজ সরল গল্প।
ছোট থাকতে বাবার কিছু সহকর্মী ছিলেন আমার খুব পছন্দের মানুষ। তার মধ্যে আচার কাকু ছিলেন এক নাম্বারে। তার নাম আচার কাকু কেন সে অন্য গল্প। তো তাকে পেলেই ঘিরে ধরে আমরা বাচ্চাকাচ্চারা গল্প শুনতে বসতাম। "ভক্ত" গল্পটা পড়ার সময় মনে হচ্ছিল গল্পের অরূপবাবু বুঝি আমাদের সেই আচার কাকু। তিনি তার কক্সবাজারে ঘুরতে যাওয়ার সময়কার ঘটা এক ঘটনার বর্ণনা দিচ্ছেন।
বিকেলে চা-বিস্কুট-মুড়ি খেতে খেতে দারুণ গল্প বাঁধতে পারে এমন একজনের জীবনের পাতা থেকে তুলে আনা গল্পের স্বাদের মতো সত্যজিৎ স্যারের এই ছোট্ট গল্পখানি।
অমলেশ মৌলিকের শিশুভক্তের মতই বলতে হয় "আমার খুব ভাল লেগেছে বইটা"।

অষ্টম এডওয়ার্ড হঠাৎ সিংহাসন ত্যাগ করার ফলে তাঁর পরের ভাই জর্জ ভারী চিন্তিত হয়ে পড়েছিলেন, কারণ তিনি ছিলেন তোতলা, অথচ তাঁকেই রাজা হতে হবে, আর হলেই বক্তৃতা দিতে হবে।
সাদাসিধা মন ছুঁয়ে যাওয়ার মতো ছোটগল্প। মাইন্ড বেন্ডিং নয় তবে একটু আলাদা ধরনের অপ্রত্যাশিত টুইস্ট।
