Again not "Meh" but not a 4 star quite either.

Thane, Corran, and Derrial are the MCs in this series. As stated in my review of book 1, I still feel as if I don't know these characters. They are briefly involved .... tryst like .... characters with Ella (FMC). Most focus seems to be on Ella and the secondary characters (which are in a competition for the MCs).

Ella for the most part got on my nerves. I have an issue with the ... I am a strong woman done with the mistreatment of these men. I will no longer succumb to them...half a page later.... I can not stop myself from spreading my legs to said men I hate..... *eye roll* This book did not reflect a strong heroine at all.

Finishing out the series in hopes all ends well.

Happy reading! DD

There are a lot of secrets. It became too much. Some things are revealed at the end, but it was frustrating for 80% of the book. This one ends in a cliffhanger. I will read book 3. I want some answers. I hope we find out what happened to the heroine's parents.
This was not a bad read, but it was not amazing either.
In book 2, the heroes transport the heroine to their planet. They are aliens and the heroine is human. The aliens in the other planet do not care for humans, so for the first couple of days, the heroine is locked in a cell. The heroes are trying to do everything they can to free the heroine. Part Hunger Games, part The Bachelor. I did not care for "The Bachelor" scenes.

I was not really sure what the heroes motives were at first, but then the reader begins to understand. You get a chapter in the end of one of the hero's POVs.

Cliffhanger:

OK, I'm out. Some of the food came from Lankardia?!? Good thing she wasn't out right stealing from Anna Zaires because that planet was LEnkardia. So totally different. If you want to read this. I would recommend the first rendition of this written by Anna Zaires called the Krinar Chronicles. They also drink blood during sex too. And, gasp, it can also be addictive. 😱 This is fan fiction of the Krinar Chronicles that was somehow published as a "new series ". Read the Krinar Chronicles as it's a much better series with much better writing.

I had every intention of giving this 4 stars like I did for the first book, but the plot-twist, cliff-hanger at the VERY end annoyed me to no end (no pun intended. Really, it wasn't, but I have no self-control when it comes to a dad joke).

I digressed- It isn't like I wasn't expecting some sort of cliff-hanger since there is a third book, like a small teaser for the struggles to come (i.e. the council isn't done with us yet, yada yada). I felt such relief from the little morsel of a happy ending [falsely] granted to me after the never. ending. angst. throughout this entire book (and the majority of book one). And then, at the very last second, the author took away that small reprieve.

description

I know I am being very dramatic, but I'm starved for some good news in book three.

description

I do want to give credit where credit is due because 2 or so pages will not ruin an entire book for me.

The world building? Pretty dang good.
Intense, possessive, & hot men who even grovel a bit? Here.
Steam-factor? A good alternation between simmering and boiling.

Broken is the second book in the Fallen World Series by C. R. Jane and Mila Young, which has Ella Monroe’s story continuing immediately on from Bound (which was an amazing first book). However, nothing about Ella’s story is straightforward though, especially with the three Vepar's - Thane, Corran and Derrial, who have their own ideas about what Ella’s role will be and delusions about the situation Ella is in.

The title of this book is perfect, as Ella is initially hopeless and dependant on the men/creatures who have her trapped - summed up nicely as Broken. But ultimately her underlying strength, determination and bravery make her a fantastic character to read.

Once again the world that C. R. Jane and Mila Young’s has created is imaginative and addictive. This sci-fi dystopian reverse harem will leave you begging for more, and I can’t wait to read Betrayed. I do feel like a HEA is due for Ella in the third book, but I guess we’ll just have to wait to see what these two authors come up with.

Horns and tails? Why yes I do like horns and tails. :)

I absolutely LOVE when a series picks up right where it left off. No wasted chapters on rehashing what we already have read. Now having said that I did have to go back and reread the last couple of chapters in bound to get my mind right, but it was so totally worth it. Both Mila and C.R. can world build like not other. The attention to detail really helps you to visualize their world. I did get a little frustrated at the beginning , rebounded nicely in the middle ... shew! Then the end left you hanging... like WHAT!?!? LOL I love a book that captures your attention so throughly it makes you have all the feels. Great continuation to the story. Can't wait to see what happens next!

I tried giving the second book a chance, but... sorry, no.
The MC has obvious reasons to not trust the guys, but as soon as one of them looks at her, or touches her... she is willing to forget everything... and then hates herself for it... Over and over and over...

Ella has been betrayed by the three men she believed she was falling for. She knew better than to fall for the Vepar and now she is their prisoner. However, if she thought that being locked away was bad, she was definitely not prepared for everything that followed. A narrow escape, a journey, and a trial. Never has Ella felt so lost, so out of place but maybe there is a chance for the life she wants. If she's strong enough and brave enough to fight for it; if she can trust her Vepar. They say she is theirs. Maybe they can be her's too.

WOW! I was truly shell-shocked when I finished. Part Hunger Games, part Bachelor, all taking place on And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street. What an emotional ride. I'm pretty certain that I experienced every possible strong emotion possible while reading this book. I started out so sad and devastated for Ella. The sense of betrayal she felt, the loss of hope, the aloneness were all overwhelming. Those emotions were overtaken by anger and fear which were replaced by hope and later joy. Finally came the shock. The world-building if the Vepar's homeworld of Veon is amazing. I have this vivid picture of a virtual Dr. Seuss page leaping to life with colored trees and creatures. It was a fantastical backdrop for the characters'adventures and Ella's trials. Ella can be her own worst enemy at times. She needs to learn when to pick her battles and when to play along. She needs to learn to trust her instincts more and have a little faith in others. But I do sympathize with her. Thane, Derrial, and Corran are unimaginably hot but they are not without blame here. Their communication is awful and they have placed Ella in such danger. Their arrogance and their miscalculations have led all four into a terrible situation. However, we did get to see other sides to the men and Ella this time. Ella's resourcefulness came into play and the men's soft side shined through.

The creativity and imagination involved in this well-written collaboration are unmatched. Each page brought new discoveries, further complications, and more excitement. Vepar technology is a thing to behold and envy. The stolen moments between Ella and her Vepar are everything. One night with unexpected meetings, a special dinner, and a few kisses was perfect. My indecisiveness about the men ended. They won my trust. They already had my attention. The ending sent me into a spiral. Anticipation for the next book doesn't even begin to describe my need.

This was a grand waste of my time.

None of the issues I stated in the previous book were fixed in this one, and the author managed to compound several plot holes just to justify this book and create an excuse for a third one. And the depression and OCD brought up in the previous book are just gone, never to be seen or heard from again - though there were little to no symptoms when they were introduced so why am I even surprised?

The love scenes weren’t even good (again), the guys are still whiney, tantrum-throwing, rape-y wastes of space, and it’s still clear that no one writing this book knows what character development is, or what a healthy relationship with open and honest communication looks like.

The only saving grace was that the moron heroine actually knew how to survive in the wild (except for the waterfall thing which was just wrong; please don’t assume it’s safe to drink from waterfalls just because the water is moving, bacteria is likely to have entered it from upstream so it still needs to be boiled), but even that didn’t make any sense. Her knowledge spoke to extensive experience hiking and camping, but that was never mentioned in the first book, and only mentioned in passing in this one when it became convenient:
“You only need to cross the woods and reach the destination on the map in two days. You said you’ve gone hiking back on your planet, so this is the same.”

When? Because I sure as frick wasn’t present for that conversation, and neither was my iPad’s search tool.

So conveniences all around.

Oh also, trigger warning : there’s unwarranted incarceration (by a governing body this time lol), forced starvation, and attempted rape in this book. And if potential vengeance for the attempted rape might tempt you to read this anyway - I warn you now that guys who only “looked at [her] wrong” got murdered in cold blood, but the guy who starved and tried to rape her only got cut up a little and his tongue cut out. Don’t read this for the justice because you will be disappointed.

I’m sick of this author deluding herself about what kind of characters she’s written and having the nerve to take me for an idiot. So I’m done with this series and I’ll be surprised as hell if I ever read anything else from her - she should know her talents and write pander-y YA novels. More than anything that’s what this series has resembled.

I loved it , but once more too short! Ella goes through a lot in this book, and you get to know her three Vepar Harem members better! Still, the secrets seem to be there, at least in my opinion. I think they are not giving her enough info and that this is a FMC who really really needs her information. I want to say so much, but I don't do spoilers but I will say this. This is not the final book, not by a long shot! This cliffhanger almost killed my Kindle since I nearly flung it in a rage against the wall. Then I pouted the rest of the day because October is too far away! I have no idea what's going to happen in book 3, but I will leave you with this. This is a sci-fi reverse harem with darkness, blood, sex scenes, killing, and back stabbing. Definitely for adults who like their romance on the dark side. I rated this book 4.4 out of this world stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟 rounded down to a 4 Star book, mainly because the book just needed more details about(well a bunch of stuff that would spoil the book if I said it), at least in my opinion. Both authors are great writers and experienced and I know they could have built the plot even more. Also, this cliffhanger ending really made me angry. I truly got mad 😠 when the ending slapped me in the face.I mean it was a fabulous twist but come on? October is far far away, and their isn't another book out there like this one at this time (maybe there will never be). #Lovethisbook #Ihatecliffhangers

So much drama and angst

This book seemed like it was a bit shorter than the first book but it had so much drama. I’ll be honest, I hated reading about the other women competing to be the mates of Ella’s 3 men. The stomach churning trials involving other conniving women was enough to give me anxiety. I was questioning everyone’s intentions including her 3 men and whether or not they were trustworthy. There wasn’t any cheating going on, at least not that we know of, but the uncertainty of it was hard to read.

I did notice a few continuity and context errors or maybe just simple oversights. One is the blood exchange between Ella and her men. Before the trials, she would get sick after going a few days without blood of her mates but that never seemed to be an issue, especially after a week without blood. That was never addressed or mentioned. After her first trial, we never heard about TJ again. I need to know what happened to that little creature and Ella never asked about it either or thought about him. Just a few holes I noticed but nothing completely off putting.

I think I may have enjoyed their story more when they were on Earth rather than on their home planet. I’ll curious to see what happens next and if Ella will assume her new 3 mates are behind her current predicament. I loved the final chapter being told from the POV of one of her mates and I wished there were more sprinkled throughout the book.

So, this book continues on the same dark path as the first until...

A complete 180 happens midway and you're like wtf did I miss...

She goes from hating these guys (and as a reader, I do as well) to insta-love "these are my men, I love them, I adore them, I get jealous when others talk to them".

And she just ignores the fact they hate humans, kidnapped her and had planned to use as an incubator. Then they also put many devices in her body, so they track her, they take record her at all times and they monitor her body. She literally is a prisoner but loves them and wants them.

And she NEVER stands up for herself.. she gets on the edge of doing it and you think - finally - and then nope, backs down to being meek. Its annoying.

And then there are things in the plot that overall don't make sense: There society is having trouble reproducing - so they make the females compete to see whom can be the strongest and they think that will create better offspring? How do they have such great technology - far more advanced than us- yet they have this primitive idea that this would be the best way to pick mates? Come on..

This book ticked me off. Hopefully, the next book can maybe reconcile this series some..

Broken: The Fallen World Series Book 2
by C.R. Jane & Mila Young 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

******** May Contain Some Spoilers ********

I will try my absolute best to keep spoilers to a minimum or completely out of my review. Sometimes it can be hard to do so.

Oh holy monkey babies, I was on the edge of my seat reading this. C.R. & Mila did an incredible job with this storyline. I enjoyed book 1 but I love book 2. I had a rollercoaster of emotions going on while reading. I didn't cry but I came very close to it.

Poor Ella and everything she has to go through. Being lied to by men she is falling in love with. Not trusting anyone including Thane, Derrial, and Corran. They take Ella to there home planet. Ella has to go through some crazy things to get her alien 👽 men. They have an ex, Zeni, that is beyond crazy. I hope Ella either kills her or at least gets to F her up in the next book. This book ends in a HUGE cliffhanger. The ending had me bouncing my knees and bitting my finger nails.

I found this book an improvement on the first. We are off in space for this one and the home planet of the aliens is very purple. What could possibly go wrong?

Hmm... Broken starts off where we left of from the first book which I liked. I did get a little annoyed as Ella spent the first few chapters constantly being knocked out/put to sleep. But she lands in a world where everyone seems to dislike her and slowly learns her own strength as she copes with the challenges she faces. (Meeting parents - not sure what I thought about this scene though as it seemed a bit presumptuous). The world building was very interesting and I am intrigued to find out more. Angst levels remain high due to the cliffhanger at the end of the book.

The main issue I had was the editing again as there were too many mistakes and a glaring continuity error (Ella freaks out that they have fitted her with a tracker, but Corran had already told her while they were back on the space ship... sorry, cruiser). But I definitely want to continue with the series.

I wrote a review for the previous book and it was not nice and this review isn't gonna be nice either.

I geninely think that the males in this story are stupid. Same goes for Ella. In this book, we have a stupid contest to win the males, which was so dumb in my opinion, because these males are not worth fighting for. We also have petty women being dicks to Ella, and dumb trials and more plot holes.

Frankly, these are the types of male characters that I feel lack the ability to understand basic things, such as the concept of hurting others. Most male characters are able to tell that they are doing things that are not that great and are given a sense of awareness, just not the ability to care. These guys seem to just not know what they are doing considering the situations Ella is put in.

Oh and Ella now loves them for some reason and I don't know why. They have done nothing good, nor have they earned any affection. Their personalities are a lot like cement bricks, strong in the alpha male idea, but bland in everything else.

Wow...just wow! This book was even better than book one! I ended book one really not like the guys but by the end of book two I love them and their devotion to Ella. I love seeing the different sides to the guys, especially Thane but also Derrial and Corran! And I just want to face punch Zeni...she needs to stay away from Ella and her guys!! Ella got better as the book went on, she was so confused at the start and it was hard to understand her inner thoughts to her actions! This is not a long book but it absolutely kept me intrigued and captivated all the way through...I loved reading about the guys planet and I hope that we get to see more of the good bits and we get to see those council men taken down!! Bring on book three....highly recommended. Warning - cliffhanger ending that had me yelling for more!

To be fair, this should be listed as a novella

Book one ended at 176 pages, Broken, book 2, ends at 170 pages. All the rest is chapter previews for other stories. While I really like the story and want to know what happens next to Ella and her mates, I refuse to pay $5 for a book that is well under the posted number of pages. This is a novella, madam Jane and Young, and the previous book was, too. You should seek to be honest with your fans. I'm sure the remaining books are similar in length, and I'm sorry, but few novellas are worth that price. Definitely not for fast readers. I'm so disappointed with ending my journey with Ella and her mates here, but when I think about it, even $5 value meals contain more substance. Really.

Alien adventure

Where to even begin? It’s so difficult to find a decent alien romance series. But this one definitely held its own and pushed itself above all else. The only issue I seemed to have is Ella’s continued back and forth. I mean, at least she felt something conflicting unlike many other alien abduction books. I was hoping she would be angry at them for awhile long instead of seemingly slipping right back into their beds. But I must admit, I love me a slow burn series and always crave one.

Over all this is a great series and I can’t wait for the next book to come out in November! What a wait that will be!

It’s ok

This series has a few things that bother me... The back and forth of Ella about her feelings toward the men with no real reason for a change either way, the fact that it seems like she is suffering from Stockholm syndrome, and this book in particular has a large number of words that are used incorrectly (their instead of they’re, your instead of you’re, etc.). I don’t like leaving a series unfinished so I’m kind of pushing myself to finish these, but they aren’t the joyful separation from reality I’d like in a good book. I’m bummed because the basic storyline could be really interesting, and I feel like it’s close but not quite there yet.

Kinda disappointed, ngl. MC gave in to them easily even though they KIDNAPPED HER and HAVE NO SENSE OF BOUNDARIES. For gods sake girl, they didn’t even grovel. They didn’t even apologize.
I also am a firm believer in “sometimes, it’s not meant to be”. If there are too many problems in the way of your relationship, maybe it’s just not meant to work out. Case in point: this story.
2.5 stars tho bc it’s definitely interesting. The story is faced paced and spicy, so it kept my interest the entire time. I liked a lot of it, but there were things I could overlook. I love you C.R. Jane, but this is the first book of yours I wasn’t that big of a fan of :(

Book one left you feeling so angry at these guys that you could throat punch them! Thank goodness they shaped up in book 2. I was also glad to get to know a softer side to the guys in this book as well because I actually do like them. I wasn't feeling anything close to that in book one. Of course now that they are starting to grow on me, a whole new set of issues sets in and some more really despicable characters but I read this thing from start to finish without taking a break because it was so good! I can't wait to get my hands on Betrayed!

Wow that just happened. Broken picks right up where book one left off without missing a beat. Ella still isn't sure if she wants to kiss her Vepars or throat punch them, or maybe both. Now she is thrown into their world and has to decide whether she is going to fight for them or not. The visual description of the planet makes you feel like you are there with them and maybe visit after all the craziness is over.
Then we have the cliffhanger.... wow... just wow. Poor Ella just can't catch a break. I need the next installment now

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Fantastic new addition to this remarkably addicting series by two incredible authors!!! We pick back up where book one ended. Ella is being hunted hardcore making it necessary for them to flee the planet to keep her safe. Unfortunately this means they have to go back home where things are not the most welcoming for her to say the least. We are in for quite a few unexpected twists and surprises that really make the book fantastic. Can't wait for the next one!! I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

I swear these cliffhangers are going to be the death of me!!!! So I picked up this book a couple hours ago and man oh MAN!!! THE TWISTS! THE TURNS! THE EMOTIONS! Ella is put through the ringer in Broken, and I feel like we really get to know the depths of each man's emotion for our main character. This was totally awesome and I am going to be pulling my hair out waiting for betrayed. Shoot, I was ready for fall to come because it meant my kids went back to school, now I'm waiting because it means I'll get book 3!!!

I'm usually reading like crazy, but I had to take this book in spurts. I was a little worried about the Stockholm syndrome at first. I had some emotional whiplash, serious anger at Ella's guys and then swooning . Ella goes to the guys planet and gets exposed to all kinds of unearthly things. I wanted to throw my kindle a couple times just frustrated for Ella , but then I curled back up with it...when authors evoke so much emotion it's crazy! I'm waiting for the next installment like a stalker !!

My head is spinning. This book is more than awesome. Veon is so beautiful, however Vepars are not so perfect as one would think. Derrial, Corran and Thane did what they thought to be the best, but whisking Ella from one danger they put her in another, or more like a series of dangerous events. They grow on each other, they fall for each other, theirs bound deepened, they fought for each other, but even greater dangers awaits and it will kill me waiting for next part of this story.

An amazing read for sure, in this book there's very hot men, a strong hard headed woman, alien planet, sizzling romance scenes, and even rivalries. Broken starts right where Bound stopped and is a very smooth and easy read. I love the characters they are very detailed but my favorite is Thane, he is dominating and completely hot. You get to witness Ella's strength more in this book for sure but also her softer side as well. I couldnt put this book down.

Thane, Derrial, and Corran are everything you would want in your harem!! Hot, take charge, confidant, and completely devoted to Ella!! This book takes us to their home world of Veon and the world building by these authors was fantastic!! I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed reading about all of the many things our poor Ella has to go through to be with her men!! This series is definitely out of this world!😉😉 I can’t wait to read the next one!!!

What a tease!

Argh! Cliffhanger alert y’all!

Ella’s life has been turned upside down since she met the Vepars and it just got worse for her, how will they keep her safe when there are so many things against them.

I enjoy the mystery and developing romance even though the guys don’t tend to clue Ella in and age is only left with negativity and suspicion.

There are a few secrets revealed at the end that I’m keen to find out how it turns out !
