About the author

Pat Mills, born in 1949 and nicknamed 'the godfather of British comics', is a comics writer and editor who, along with John Wagner, revitalised British boys comics in the 1970s, and has remained a leading light in British comics ever since.

His comics are notable for their violence and anti-authoritarianism. He is best known for creating 2000 AD and playing a major part in the development of Judge Dredd.

One of 2000AD's original stories morphed from a cheesy crib of The Six Million Dollar Man into something far deeper and more sinister, with two-dimensional characters becoming fully fleshed-out demons. We're now into the realms of a disillusioned John Probe uncovering government conspiracies involving UFOs, prototype MACH men, a female Russian MACH spy, and Probe attempting to unearth his own true identity. The conclusion is grim and unforgiving, and a perfect denouement to a story and character that went from being cartoon fun to the most dystopian of sagas.
