I’ve got a secret

I’ve got bruises no one can see and the devil’s blood running through my veins. If I want to end my father’s reign, I’ve got to help Rocco Nomar with his daughter.

She’s broken, jaded. A sad, pretty little thing with a big heart and eyes that make me feel like I’m drowning. She’s not swayed by the social politics of Savannah, but she has my heart doing double takes.

I didn’t even know I was capable of love. I’m not a man that can be tamed. But Rachel Nomar just might change that.

As long as the devil in me doesn’t ruin her first.

Trigger Warning: This book is a dark romance that explores very dark themes. It does include scenes of violence, substance use, and non-consensual sex.

Authors Note:

Dear Readers,

Thank you so much for reading Cruel and trusting us to take you on another ride, this time with Godfrey Taylor.

This book hits some dark themes that might be triggering for some. Although there are no explicit rape scenes, this book dives deep into the mindset of a girl overcoming a trauma of that nature. We hoped to write a realistic recovery that shows her digging through the trenches of what happened to her, but coming out stronger than ever. We also wanted to show that everyone copes differently, and one person’s road to self-love and healing might look differently than another.

We poured a lot of hard themes into this book. We genuinely want you to proceed with caution and understand that this book focuses on the healing, not on the act.

I adored Cruel, the first book in the Savannah Heirs series, so when I was given the opportunity to read book 2, I jumped on it! Godfrey is a character that intrigued me from the moment I met him. He's calculating, manipulative, cocky, and at times, downright cruel. You would think that would make you hate him, but it doesn't. Godfrey is a complicated and intriguing character that will worm his way into your heart whether you want him there or not!

Rachel is a victim of sexual assault at the hands of her abductors. She is broken and beaten down in so many ways, but her drive to heal and not let that experience ruin her life is impressive and inspiring. I felt for Rachel, and I cheered her on every step of the way on her journey to becoming mentally healthy and happy.

Godfrey is tasked by Rachel's father to look after her which doesn't sit well with Rachel at first. She feels like Godfrey snubbed her in the past, and besides, she doesn't need a keeper. Godfrey pretends to be burdened by his new assignment, but in reality, he's anything but. He is attracted to Rachel immediately and vice versa, but Godfrey doesn't make that obvious at first. Instead, he does what he does best, he pushes her away.

Godfrey doesn't want to make his feelings known, because he has demons of his own. He doesn't think he deserves someone like Rachel. His father uses him and threatens the lives of him and his friends constantly. Not only that, but he is involved with dangerous criminals due to his father as well. Godfrey doesn't want Rachel anywhere near him or the people he's involved with.

With so much horror and the many complications between them, is it even possible these two can have a happily ever after?

Tame by Coralee June and Raven Kennedy is a steamy NA romance full of angst and suspense that kept me up reading all night long. Getting to see the couple from Cruel along with the other characters we already know and love was a highlight for me. I enjoyed every bit of Godfrey and Rachel's story, and I can't wait for the next installment of the series!

If you're a NA romance fan, this one's for you!

“I think you’ve finally met your match, Godfrey Taylor.”

Tame was even better than Cruel and that’s saying something, because I enjoyed Cruel a helluva lot. Godfrey wasn’t 100% what I was expecting, because he was pretty cruel and aloof for most of Cruel. In Tame we learn way more about him and how much depth is there. He also discovers things about himself when dealing with Rachel. And Rachel. Gosh we didn’t get very much of her in Cruel, but in Tame it is all about her and Godfrey. I loved reading about Rachel taking back her life and her power. No this isn’t the standard healing book, but who wants standard all of the time. I love that this emphasizes that not everyone copes in the exact same way and that supporting someone and listening to them is the best thing that you can do. I appreciate that this book was fun, sexy, bloody, but still had that message pulsing steady in the background.

All in all this is a good read. If you’re looking for realistic, then you probably should keep looking. But if you’re looking for entertaining suspense, with new adult drama, and a tense yet steamy romance, then you need to read Tame!

description

“My soul wanted a savior, but it was consistent with my luck that I was given a devil who wasn’t interested in protecting anyone.”

I loved how Godfrey pushed Rachel , they frustrate me a lot!Their chemistry is off the charts and I loved the intensity and the passion.

“You think you can win? You don’t have it in you princess. Not against me. By the end of this, you’ll be so lost, you won’t even remember why you agreed to this in the first place.”

God I love this serious so hard. I was ruined by Rogue Kelly in Cruel and now book 2 just killed me. I love the Savannah Heirs.

“Beautiful girls always get destroyed by powerful men.”

Godfrey, Godfrey, Godfrey... so beautifully broken. I loved him so hard. He is flawed, so cocky and confident but beneath the mask he wears he just wants to be loved.

Rachel is just as broken as Godfrey and they shouldn’t have worked as a couple. But how beautiful is it when 2 broken people can mend each other’s broken pieces and make each other whole again?

The twists and turns in this book had me on edge and I didn’t believe that I could love Tame as much as Cruel but I do. This series I can already tell is going to be top of my re-reads. Fast paced, explosive, hot AF chemistry and the banter was on point.

What are you waiting for, read Cruel and Tame and be ruined by the Savannah Heirs today.

Oh my Godfrey!! Let’s just say Tame is anything but Tame!

Godfrey and Rachel have that instant connection that just can’t be denied.

Godfrey is a mega asshole, and I just loved those. I may even say he is a bigger ass than Rogue. Godfrey grew up with a ruthless criminal father. He was beat and forced to do things for his father’s business that he did not want to do.

Rachel’s father is continuing the growth of his criminal empire and one of the reason for the nightmare that she went through. A high school student that went through a help no one should have to. She came out a little broken, and a little stronger. Yes, you can be both.

Somewhere along the line loving to hate you turned to hate to love you. And what that really means is I love you, and I don’t hate it.

Tame sucked me in from the very start when Godfrey called her a druggie with daddy issues. As soon as the words were out my heart aches for Rachel. But Godfrey was the asshole she needed him to be in order to heal.

Everything about this book I loved! The pull of the characters. The secrets that they had. The consequences of those secrets. The asshole Godfrey is, and how he used it to help Rachel.

I have been super super excited to read this series and could not wait for Tame. Godfrey and Rachel were amazing and I could not stop reading this. This book goes beyond bully romance. It was more of an emotional connection between two people that are both broken and battered due to abuse. I absolutely loved this story and how they both came alive with each other!

Gah! There is nothing I love more than bully romance. Except maybe a bully with a weak spot - namely the heroine. Don't get me wrong - Godfrey is mean and delicious and everything a mean boy should be. But he is also protective and strong and just delicious. Rachel likewise was sassy and determined and oh so damaged but more than anything she was a survivor. I seriously can not wait for Luis and Royal's story! Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Oh. My. Godfrey.

Explosive. Scorching. Addictive. Brilliant.

What did I just read? I can’t even deal. I can’t. Technically speaking these two characters should be totally toxic for one another, and yet... their story is the most beautiful of all. Rachel needs an outlet for her anger and Godfrey is more than happy to be her punching bag. He’s beyond pushy, constantly towing the line of evil and begrudgingly helpful and she’s grasping at straws trying to figure out how to live again. They collide, crashing violently into one another and the result is nothing short of breathtaking.

Godfrey Taylor is a self-assured pretentious prick and I could not be more obsessed with him. He’s the cold and calculating Heir, damaged in so many ways that he struggles to hide. He’s spent his life being told he’s worthless and being beat down by the life he’s trapped in, his demons have left him cynical and hollow. Godfrey genuinely believes that he’s evil and he’s made peace with who he is... maybe that’s why he’s so furious at the prospect of someone new coming in and turning his entire world upside down. As much as I wanted to hate him for every awful thing this man does, I could never because he has the most redemptive story I’ve ever read. Godfrey is arrogant and frigid, but he’s also fiercely loyal and protective. He’s a beautiful enigma that you can’t help but drown in, and I don’t know a single person who will be able to resist his charm.

The real muse of this story is Rachel. She’s beautifully damaged and her healing and growth into a new person is one of the most cathartic and amazing things I’ve read in ages. She’s not a typical victim, sure she’s triggered from time to time like any survivor would be... but she’s strong. Rachel is resilient, she’s a real fighter and she’s reclaiming herself bit by bit. I have to say that I was in absolute awe of this brilliant character, there are so many victims in romance novels who don’t fight back. They wither and the vast majority seem to cope in the same way, it’s unrealistic. I should know, I’ve been there. I was never one to take things lying down either, maybe that’s why I love Rachel so much. She’s a different brand of leading lady, one who breaks molds and crushes stereotypes. She’s beyond perfect and I couldn’t adore her any more, hell... I might even be half in love with her.

This is a story of healing and growth, of violent passion and a relationship so complex that it will make your head spin and your heart pound. This is a duet of two broken souls who are playing a dangerous game the nobody quite knows the rules to, they’re determined to push one another until there’s a clear winner. There are scenes that are so hot and smoldering that they could effortlessly set your eyeballs on fire.

Make no mistake here, this is not some quick throwaway read to pass time with. No. This book has real depth, it claws away at your soul and slowly claims pieces of you until you’re left feeling completely and utterly entangled with these characters. It’s as dramatic and beautiful as it is exhilarating and passionate. It’s multi-leveled, and it will own a part of you by the time you’ve finished. Do not go in expecting something fleeting, this book will haunt you long after you’ve finished. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, these two authors together create nothing short of black magic. I could never properly articulate how spectacular this story is, but I’ll tell every single person who will listen how much I love Tame nonetheless. I want to tell future readers to prepare themselves, but I honestly don’t think there’s a way to properly brace yourself for this story. It’s epic, it’s all-consuming and it’s easily one of my favorite books ever written. Forget standard enemies-to-lovers stories, this book blows up the entire genre. It gives strength and healing new meaning, and it resonated with me so intensely that I could just cry. Don’t just pick this beauty up, dive in heart first and be ready for the journey of a lifetime.

I really liked this book, and how strong the heroine was. She suffered a lot but learned to take things in her hand, i liked how Godfrey didnt coddle her rather was challenged her in every step. What i didnt like was the fact that it was always about sex between them, there was a connection from the beginning but there was no love cuz all they thought was fucking each other. And then suddenly they are in love, the transaction was not in a flow, one moment they say they hate each other and just want to fuck but then confess their love. I didnt like how Godfrey was rude to Rachel and in return she kisses him. Each. Fucking. Time. I wanted to dnf in those parts, i mean Godfrey accuses her to using his friend to get over what she suffered and in return she kisses him...like the dude literally insulted u. Ugh that was annoying but she was strong and their relationship was okay. Like can u pls slap him? Just one slap. I know he is kind of a good guy but he needs a slap. Just one. Pls.

“My soul wanted a savior, but it was consistent with my luck that I was given a devil who wasn’t interested in protecting anyone.”~ Rachel Nomar

Rachel has been through hell and back. She’s clawing her way up back. The only thing though, is she’s not the same person she was before.

Godfrey looks beneath everyone’s masks. He sees what people don’t want seen. Their flaws, and more importantly their character. This isn’t just about a rich boy who wants to use this knowledge for his own wicked enjoyment, his survival depends on being able to read people.

Rachel is a victim. That’s what the world sees.

Godfrey is an enigma. That’s what people believe.

The truth, for both of them, is so much more. They both have to dig deep and go to war. The war with their demons, themselves and each other shows the strength of both of these broken characters.

The Savanah Heirs are 4 rich boys from the most powerful families in Savannah. They are poised to inherit the spoils of their families labor. Beneath the surface of these families you find something rotten, definitely spoiled. When you look behind the closed doors of these rich, powerful people you find greed, corruption, crime and the need for more power. This never ending need for power has brought them into a clash with a crime syndicate with the power to end them all.

When the Heirs clash with the Macon Mob the potential to shake Savannah to its core is realized. So many secrets, murders and conspiracies can unravel and unseat those in power.

These people, family and enemies have done the unthinkable to Rachel and Godfrey. It’s time for them to take their power back.

Their love isn’t beautiful and heart touching. It doesn’t leave you sighing and smiling. It’s raw and painful. It is intense and absolutely soul shattering. It shows that even jagged edges fit next to someone else who’s jagged too.

This book is FIVE breathtaking stars from me.

I’m going to lump these two authors into a category in my brain after finishing this book. That category is full of maybe 5 of my most favorite authors-and I like to call them “the most underrated authors, EVER.” I started my journey falling in love with these two authors writing with Cruel-and I was immediately impressed by every other piece of work they had. I fell in love with the Savannah Heirs-and I was absolutely ecstatic that we were getting more after Rogue Kelly. In my mind however, I didn’t know how it would compare-because Rogue was perfection. Godfrey Taylor, is a different breed of amazingly hot, troubled, and the ultimate hardened savior to Rachel. I’m going to go ahead and shout it from the rooftops-“Oh. My. Godfrey.” This Book was full of EVERYTHING you could ever want in a book. The chemistry and slow burn between the hero and heroine was absolutely dripping with emotion-the twists and turns were so well planned and unexpected, I couldn’t put the book down, and the dynamic between every supporting character throughout the book was written so flawlessly I’m simply hooked for life in the world of the Savannah Heirs.
I don’t even want to ruin this book by summarizing it-I wouldn’t be able to do it justice. Go into the book knowing it’s going to be amazing-just as amazing as the first book, and come out of the book salivating over the fact that these boys could charm anyone. Cruel was added to my top reads list for the year, and Tame is no different. It’s equally deserving of one of the best books I’ve read for 2019.

Brilliant

I wanted to love this book as much as Cruel, and I did, for different reasons. But these amazingly talented writers ruined me with Cruel I felt myself searching the pages for more Rouge and Scar. I had to shut of my brain to those two and focus on Rachel and Godfrey, because they deserve all of your attention. I felt their connection from their first interaction. Their relationship didn't feel forced, it flowed naturally and beautifully. When they weren't fighting it of course. My hope for the next book (please let there be a next book) is that the women that are capturing our heirs hearts, get a time to bond. They need to be as strong of a unit as their men are.

This is a story about two people trying to survive and find love.
Rachel has been through a horrific circumstance and is angry and broken.
“She was a force, but she was broken, and broken people inevitably cut up everyone around them.”

Godfrey is fighting his own demons within his family.
“I’d spent my whole life trying to understand people’s masks. I’d been obsessed with finding out who they were underneath.”

I loved how Godfrey pushed Rachel to embrace her anger instead of becoming a weak victim. Rachel showed Godfrey he can break down his barriers and allow love in.
The slow burn and connection was perfect.

There are other layers including mafia, the other heirs, their families and a hit man. It was complex and perfectly paced.

5 stars!

Hope and healing mixed with spice

Godfrey and Rachel’s story is pure magic! You feel each emption that they experience as you are reading and genuinely feel like you are right there experiencing everything with them. Their chemistry is off the charts and you see each of their strengths as well as how they enhance each other. Amazing story and I can’t wait for the next installment in the series!

4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

The second book to “Cruel” and I honestly didn’t know what to expect.
I am damn happy that I decided to read it. Different sides to the same coin, the books work seamlessly together to give what I’m starting to realise is, the perfection that CoraLee June and Raven Kennedy provide.
The harsh reality of Rachel’s life and her gritty truth displayed what Godfrey Taylor’s mask hid. It’s a funny thing, reading about to characters and learning how their jagged edges fit each other. I’ll now know to just buy and read whatever they release because they haven’t disappointed me and I doubt they ever will ✨

After a delicious first book in this series, I was so thirsty to for the other Savannah Heirs to get their story- and none made me as curious as Godfrey- the manipulative, arrogant, brash heir- and most certainly the most cruel. Even better, Cora and Raven decided to pair him with Rachel- the broken survivor we only just met, a character whose trauma and baggage is perhaps the LEAST cared for under the eye of our most sadistic heir.

But Godfrey surprises- and I loved how the authors did not soften him, rather they just gave him nuance. He's complicated, and complex, no less dark but with more emotional depth than meets the eye- or that even his friends recognized.

And Rachel- oh wow. What a heroine- a true survivor. While some of the bully elements and darkness from book one are still here, this story has a much darker turn because of the background of our broken heroine as she tries to face her trauma. But while she's broken, she's is not weak, she battles for every moment as she tries to find her path forward. And Godfrey, our cold heir, becomes her guiding light, the solid safety she needs to heal and recover, even if they are resistant to each other at first.

Their path to finding each other is more emotional than anything- this is about the emotional obstacles, the metaphysical barriers that prevent people from risking love...and also hold people back from healing. Of course, though, we still have all the heirs drama and suspense and plenty of danger.

I loved this one even more than the first!

Quick reread to clean up reviews and get me into the right mindset to finish some similar books on my TBR. I’ll leave the rating, but really feel like I’ve outgrown the genre. This is a bully romance where the kids act like grownups with very few adults around. I think we see 2 sets of parents out of 6 and they aren’t parenting… so the kids do whatever they want.

Tame is Godfrey and Rachel’s story. Rachel was rescued at the end of the last book; Johnny Jack was keeping her as a sex slave. This is much the same as the last one (HS kids taking on the local mafia) with less page-time spent with the rest of the gang. Rachel is much stronger than Scarlett, but I preferred Rogue over Godfrey. 🤷‍♀️

Bottom Line- Ok, not great… or realistic at all. I was hoping we’d get more from the first couple, but other than saying Rogue Kelly’s house/estate/pool/etc. a ton of times… they aren’t around a lot. It looks like the next will be Luis with Godfrey’s older sis which feels a bit ick. She’s 6 years older (I think) which wouldn’t be a huge gap except he’s 17/18 which means she’s been lusting him since he was a kid, and she was a teenager. I keep picturing an 18 yr. old fantasizing about a 13-yr old. It would work if they were older.

I hate to love you....

Awe isn't that line just sweet?? Awesome addition to the Savannah Heirs for sure.
Really loved Rachel and Godfrey's story. So many twists, deceptions, hot AF sex, angst, and a fast paced storyline. Loved the unraveling that was done....now I wonder whom could be next maybe Royal and Luis's story hmmmm hint, hint and wink. Maybe just wishful thinking. Regardless I can't wait.
I highly recommend this book and series.

Whew these boys. They are protective and loyal. Everything I would want in a best friend crew. The women they choose are strong and put them through the test. This book was so much fun to read. It had the angst and sexual tension. I loved that things didn’t end the way I thought they would or even the way the characters thought they would. It was such a good read and I can’t wait to read the next two books in the series.

Had potential but lacked so much

It was my first time reading these authors and unfortunately, it will be my last because this book lacked a few things that would have made a great story:

-) It was too repetitive
-) it dragged on
-) The main characters were really good but the support characters were not well developped

Maybe it's not the book but just me.

Right-o, so here we have Tame, aka the rather predictable 'bullyish' romance between Rachel (the daughter of a fake money maker and Gang King, Rocco) and Godfrey Taylor (possibly the most arrogant one of the Heirs, and the son of an abusive asshole lawyer).

If you recall, Rachel was captured by some bad men (JJ's crew) in the first book, and along with the Heirs' only female friend, Scarlett, was then rescued by the Heirs. In book two, Rachel has to deal with the trauma from her kidnapping. And to help her out, Godfrey offers his rather err.. let's say.. unconventional help. #toughlove

Apart from the romance and trauma, this book deals with some gang stuff, money laundering, revenge, family issues, criminal world politics, etc. Oh and lots of jealousy with the romance. We get to see a bit of the old characters, aka the other Heirs and their female hangers-on, but the focus is mostly on Rachel and Godfrey and their issues.

So without revealing too much, I'll just comment on what I enjoyed and why I knocked off two stars from the rating. (Possible mild spoilers ahead.)

The good stuff:

- The writing was great, as always, although I was occasionally hoping for more dialogue where there were long paragraphs of narration.
- I also enjoyed the new character Forty-One and would love to read more about him. He is easily worth his own extra star on the rating scale.
- Some of the plot twists were predictable, but a few caught me by surprise, which was much appreciated.

The reason behind the 3/5 stars: Or: "what sucked a tad".

It was the damn romance. It was just too predictable. And yes, I'm well aware that most romance book romances are super predictable, but this time it just irked me. The story was otherwise rather brilliant, but I just didn't really feel the love. And speaking of love.. It just sort of happened. I was hoping there would be more fighting against the development of deeper feelings, seeing as both Rachel and Godfrey made a big deal out of keeping things casual and not giving a damn: Godfrey was, in a way, just doing his job, and Rachel was using him to feel better. The big 'issue/problem' that always exists between a couple in romance books was rather lame in this one, and the idea was pretty much the same as in the first book.

And also, I couldn't decide if I liked how Rachel's struggles and her handling of her trauma were portrayed. I mean, she was supposedly a super sweet and innocent girl before her kidnapping, and now, afterwards, she's the complete opposite - and in some very violent ways, as well. I kept thinking that this girl needs some seriously good therapy and anger management, instead of a teenage boy and a new haircut. But perhaps the point of the book wasn't Rachel's survival and well-being, but rather the taming of Godfrey?

Anyhoosels, it's worth a read, if you enjoy slightly angsty drama.
