Clair McCorrson has spent the last three years building her business, CC’s Simply Cupcakes with her sister gaining a reputation for mouth-watering excellence in their seaside town of Ashton Point. While Charlotte is the master baker, Clair keeps the business side looking sweet and if everything goes as planned, she’ll be more than the girl behind the scenes. Expanding their business to the nearby town of Watson’s Creek is Clair’s idea, and acquiring the Sweets Mansion is her dream come true, her chance to step out from her sister’s shadow and make it on her own. Clair’s excitement quickly turns sour when she stumbles across the murdered body of local settlement agent.
Newspaper headlines screaming Cupcake Killer Strikes Again! Clair’s life seems to be going from bad to worse when rumours of the cursed Mansion begin to surface igniting chaos among the locals. Bodies literally begin to mount up around CC’s Simply Cupcakes and all the evidence points to Clair. Wrongly accused of murder, it’s a race against time to find the real culprit before she spends the rest of her life behind bars.
This is Book 2 in The Cupcake Capers Series and may contain elements of humour, drama and danger. However, it will definitely not contain any of the following potentially lethal substances: Swearing or profanity. Gore or graphic scenes. Cliff-hangers or unsolved endings.
Polly Holmes is the cheeky alter ego of Amazon best-selling author, P.L. Harris. When she's not writing her next romantic suspense novel as P.L. Harris, she’s planning the next murder in one of Polly's mysteries.
Polly’s award-winning Cupcake Capers Series is rich in storyline and location with characters that stay with you long after you turn the last page. She publishes her cozy mystery books with Gumnut Press. Pumpkin Pies and Potions is the first in her new paranormal cozy series.
Cupcakes and Corpses was a finalist in the Oklahoma RWA’s 2019 IDA International Digital Awards, short suspense category. Cupcakes and Curses claimed second place and Cupcakes and Cyanide gained third place making it a clean sweep in the category.
A great cozy mystery that leaves you guessing 'who dunnit'. Polly Holmes leads you through a maze of possibilities that kept me guessing and the final surprise as the mystery steadily unravelled the leads. A great read for relaxing with. I look forward to reading further books in the series.
Thoroughly enjoyed Clair's "adventures " with the murder claim, her investigation to clear her name, and the help of her friend Mason. CC's Cupcakes didn't play as big a role in this story, but I am sure they will be back for more. Would recommend to anyone for a fast paced read.
This is the second in the series and the first time reading this author. The main character is Clair and she is meeting Mr. Hapworth to receive the keys to a new house she just bought. Only she finds his body instead and is the main suspect in his murder. She has to solve this case herself before they charge her. Mr. Hapworth's son , Mason shows up and soon the two are falling for each other. I really enjoyed this book. Looking forward to reading more by this author.
When Clair McCorrson discovers the body of the settlement estate agent she’d arranged to meet inside the house she’s buying, her sweet deal becomes increasingly bitter. Surely, the police know it’s a case of wrong place, wrong time? Once again, the newspaper is printing lies about her family, and implicating her as the murderer, just like they did with her sister. Worse, the agent’s estranged, not to mention handsome, son has just arrived on her doorstep demanding to know what happened.
Then another body is found behind the cupcake store with similar injuries as the first victim. Clair knows she’s on borrowed time. If the police and the town won’t believe her innocence, she’ll solve this case herself. And if Mason wants to help her find the truth about his father, well, she’ll deal with that rather charming distraction too.
Deceit and deception stick to the McCorrson sisters like icing sticks to their cakes. This time older sister, Clair meets her date with injustice. I like the clever twist and the ‘red herring’ that was thrown in here, and fiery Clair’s chemistry with computer geek, Mason. Another great read. :)
This is a delightful book and the storyline is pretty good. The sisters are planning on opening their second shop and Clair is meeting the realtor to finalize the sale, too bad she is too late and he is dead. Now she is the main suspect and must prove her innocence. Oh and the dead man's son is in town to see what happened to his father, and wow is Mason handsome. Together, will they figure this out? This was the second book in the series.
This was just as great as the last one. A little more content, a little more mystery. Love the humor. Just like the last book, I could not figure out who did it. As the killer is revealed, the clues were there. My heart did pound for the peril Clair found herself in. Can't wait to read the next book. This was my 205th book for 2019. From an Ingrid Fan... Pam James.
If you like Harlequin romance novels then this book and the series are for you. I don’t especially like romance and I find it over the top in this book. The two lead characters meet and immediately fall in love and spend the entirety of the story playing does he/she love me or love me not. The mystery doesn’t just take a back seat it’s in the trunk of the car not that it’s missed since the plot is quite shallow. This was not a good read for me.

É uma ótima opção para quem gosta de romances policiais com uma pitada de mistério e romance. A história é envolvente, os personagens cativantes e a escrita fluída.
It seems like the sisters Claire and Charlotte are always being accused of murder. This one takes place in a house Claire is in the process of buying and the deceased is her real estate agent. She is found in the house with the body due to an anonymous phone call. She and the son of the deceased work together to find the killer. There's another murder and the police are not sure who's guilty. Claire finds the killer but it is not anyone of the usual suspects. Another great book.
Claire McCorrson, Charlotte's sister and business partner is in hot water this time. She is hoping to open an adjunct of their bakery in a town nearby as a cafe. She becomes embroiled in a murder and a budding romance. I like the combination of cozy mystery and light romance. There is some snarky humor and a good mystery. Can they solve the murder and have a happily ever after with their potential love interest. These are fun, easy to read, short books that I highly recommend.
I enjoyed the story and had no idea who the murderer was until near the end. The only thing that kind of irked me is when Clair feels she know who the guilty party is and follows her into an empty house alone. Guess she wanted to clear her own name even if it killed her. Fortunately, she manages to get away right before her rescuers show up.
What a marvelous aray of caracters surrounding this mystery are as vibrant as ever and challenging in so many ways rhe.Full comic relief to keep things even .Aquier a copy and start enjoying this outrageous cozey murder mystery so that you may enjoy it as much as I have. Kat
Was this book almost exactly like the first book, yes...in its ways...but did I love it anyway...yes... I did. I'm enjoying the refreshing simple writing w shorter stories to get over my Onxy Storm slump. These little mini-books are cute enough to keep me occupied and not too indepth. Cute little read.
Both this book and it's predecessor are thoroughly enjoyable......a little innocent romance and thoughtful deductions and twists make the outcome non predictable, just the way I like cozy mysteries.
Binge-worthy❣️ Binge-worthy❣️ Wow‼️Just keeps getting better and better ‼️ Very anxious to read more . . . Next please⁉️ More and more difficult to put down . . . Sorry, you lost 1 * for blasphemy - NEVER acceptable
Will the murder be caught before Claire is arrested?
An engaging read with enough twists plus just a bit of romance to keep you reading and rooting for Claire! It really reminds me of a good episode of Murder, She Wrote! And for some reason I'm really craving a good cupcake.
Fun read. I enjoyed Clair McClendon and meeting Mason Hapworth. Charlotte her sister (the master baker) was back. Clair is buying Sweet Mansion and gets more then she bargain for. This is a nice enjoyable read and would recommend it to family and friends.
Another great book in this series. Looking forward to reading the next one. The McCorrson sisters are as good at solving cases as they are at making a success of their cupcake business.
