“You get one chance with me. You blow it, that’s your fault.”
James Tully isn’t what you’d call a forgiving sort of guy. He lives by a code of ethics - honor, trust, fidelity. And if you break those values, the way Sawyer did six years ago when he accused James of cheating on him? You’re out. But six years is an awful long time to go without companionship, so when he meets a cute little sub at The Black Room, he can’t help himself from wanting to take their anonymous liaison one step further.
“What if we’re no good together once the masks come off?”
It’s been six years. Sawyer’s never really been able to set James behind him, but considering that James makes it very clear he hasn’t been able to forgive and forget any time he runs into Sawyer around town, Sawyer supposes it’s past time for him to move on. And when he meets a strong, caring Dom at a masquerade party, he can’t help but fall a little in love, dreaming of a new future. That is, until the masks come off...
Welcome to Worthington, Texas, where the heat doesn't just rise in the summer - you'll feel it all year long in these stories of older men and their younger lovers. Every book in the Worth It series can be read on its own, but with so many familiar characters to love, why stop with just one? This book features a leather cowboy Dom, his hopeful, eager submissive, and the second chance of a lifetime.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the ninth book in the Worth It series. In this book, Sawyer is helping Quinn with the ranch and he runs into his ex James, a ranch hand. James is older and they split up when Sawyer thought James had cheated on him six years ago. They don't really speak to each other, but Sawyer tries. Lately Sawyer has been lonely, especially after all of his friends have found love. When he hears about a masquerade party at the Black Room, a local BDSM for gay men, he decides to go to see what it is about. James hears about the party from his friend Wyatt, and decides to go. When Sawyer sees James on stage with a sub, he is captivated and when James approaches him, he wants to submit to him. James takes Sawyer to a private room and they have a great time. They don't take off their masks and have no idea who the other is, but they both return the following week to see if they will both be there again. Soon they are meeting every week and Sawyer starts to have feelings for his Dom, but he doesn't know who he is. James decides it is time to tell his sub his identity and is shocked when he runs away. I really liked this book, it was a great BDSM story. I liked how dominate James was and how Sawyer opened himself up to James. I think they connected with each other and were able to let go and be themselves without the pressure of knowing each other. Sawyer was allowed to embrace his wanting to submit and was accepted by James. Another one in this great series.
This is steamy, entertaining and amusing. James is tough, stubborn, unforgiving, grumpy and impulsive. Sawyer is insecure, cheeky and stubborn. Sawyer and James had a relationship years ago, one that ended because of an accusation of cheating without the benefit of doubt. James was still angry because not only did Sawyer believe a lie, he didn't even give James a chance to explain. Sawyer was irritated and confused because James acted like the injured party when he was the one who supposedly cheated. Both independently decide to get back to living by going to a masquerade party at a BDSM club. One that James went to frequently before he met Sawyer. When Sawyer walks around the place and he stops at the stage to watch the guys do their thing. When James turns to look at the audience a minute later his eyes lock on Sawyer's, and each feels pulled to the other. And so begins an anonymous relationship between the two. But the more time they spend together, the more each thinks about being in a normal relationship with the other, instead of an anonymous weekly meet. Waiting for them to realize who they are keeps you in suspense, because every time they run into each other, in the club or on the ranch, you think they are finally going to see it. This series has some amazing characters and storylines. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
James and Sawyer got together when Sawyer was in his early twenties. Sawyer enjoyed his handsome, older man, but did not yet have the self confidence to accept their mutual affection. A true jerk of a so called friend in a drunken stupid act made a pass at James - who turned him down. Jerky drunk Abe told his so called friend Sawyer that his beau was the one who made the pass, and sadly, less than confident Sawyer believed him without question.
For James this was an huge violation of trust. He never cheated, on or with anyone, and held i in low regard after he had been cheated on himself many years ago. He never forgave Sawyer the accusation, much less accusation and break up with no further discussion.
They have a surprise in store at a Masquerade party - when they find their way back to each other, but have no idea to whom they are attracted.
Is Sawyer determined only to run away? Can James accept Sawyer acted mostly out of fear, not intended disrespect or disregard?
Sometimes a second chance needs to become a third chance for a real shot at a relationship without masks.
Steamy m/m romance - and hot KU read.

I've enjoyed this whole series so far and I liked how this one was unique and I enjoyed both characters. I didn't feel like it was super realistic at times though but I don't want to say to much and give the whole story away.Over all I still enjoyed story and it captured my attention from start to finish. Sawyer had dated James 6 year ago and didnt expect James to come back into his life but he did anyway and in more than one way. James was left heartbroken after Sawyer believed someone over him and left him for it. He ends up working with him at the farm for a bit and even to this day feels anger and resentment toward him. Then he meets someone new at bdsm club and his thoughts for Sawyer start to fade away or at least they should and he can't figure out why he fully can't get Sawyer out of his mind especially now that this new guy is around. This was a pretty enjoyable read even though I got annoyed at the characters sometimes and couldn't believe how blindsided and oblivious they were. I guess if I make yourself believe something so much, you refuse to see what's clearly right in front of your face. I found this to be a pager Turner and read this one pretty quickly wanting to know how these two characters were going to work everything out.
I wasn’t as into this entry in the series as I’d hoped to be. It was still really good but it just felt very rushed. And Sawyer’s excuse for not believing James when he said he didn’t cheat was, while believable, just not strong enough for me to believe that James would be so pissed for 6 years. I think there just wasn’t enough detail, just a shallow version. I think not seeing any of their relationship before the breakup or getting more detail on the breakup hurt the story. I did enjoy the scenes at the club, though they seemed quite tame except for the one with James’s homemade toy. I did like how quickly James acted on Sawyer using his safe word and gave him proper aftercare after their scenes together. I feel like that often gets glossed over when it’s so important. All in all, a good book, just not my favorite of the series. Can’t wait to see more though!

This book is a lot sexier and kinky than this author's usual stories. Sawyer is alone now that Parker has moved out to be with Noah. Lonely, he gets talked into going to a BDSM club, "The Black Room." James is lonely too, seeing as he and Sawyer had a fight and hadn't been together for six years. He also heads to The Black Rook. There he meets the Sub that he can't get enough of and Sawyer finds a dom that feels all his needs. The thing is, they found each other. Now it is anyone's guess if they connect up again or throw this opportunity out the window. James is still just as stubborn and unforgiving and Sawyer hasn't acknowledged he made a mistake. Can these two men find it in their hearts to forgive one another or will they continue to follow the road of loneliness? A excellent, sexy, kinky story with a ton of angst, anger, unforgiveness and an excellent HEA.
Sawyer and James broke up six years ago now both seek something at a masked event. Six years ago after a friend told Sawyer a lie he broke up with James but neither has ever fully recovered from the breakup. Sawyer is told by his friends about a Masquerade at the Black Room an underground BDSM club and having played with the idea with James he is intrigued enough to go.James is at a poker night with friends when he notices a postcard announcing a Masquerade at the Black Room where he had gone in the past and feeling alone he decides to go. When Sawyer arrives he is drawn to the Dom giving a show at a Saint Andrew’s cross using a flogger on a sub. A MM BDSM romance relax and enjoy.

This is an interesting MM second chance romance and an enjoyable read. It has a well-paced story-line & plot filled with some unexpected situations. The complex characters are quite well-developed & display realistic & believable emotional feelings. There is: a man (Sawyer) consumed with jealousy made some hurtful accusations towards his then lover (James) who finds it hard to forgive & forget, drama, intrigue, friendship, memories, BDSM, masks, domination/submission, spankings, confrontations, doubts, friendly advice, obsession, discovery, shock, dismay, verbal conflict, emotional turmoil, caring friends, intervention, a setup, declaration, love, happiness, steamy scenes & a splendid satisfying epilogue.
Normally MM stories are not really my favourite and BDSM isn´t really either, jet - here we have a story that has both! And I really liked it and loved the characters. The storyline is simply said very good and the characters are beautiful. This story is actually one of the best ones I have read in this genre and even though I have not read all that many in this field as much as I read there have been quite a few combined and this one is just really really good. So I am giving this one beautiful four stars!!!

Sawyer and James had a bad break up in their past. They could not be around each other. During a masqurade party they found each other. They started to develop a relationship as a Dom and sub. After a while they both decided to see if the relationship could progress. James took his mask off first and when Sawyer saw he went running away. James caught him and he took his mask off. They both got pissed at the other when they found out. Their friends made them talk to each other and they decided to go forward with the relationship.

James and Sawyer have a troubled past that separated them for 6 years. Unknowingly, they reconnect during a masquerade party at a BDSM club. There is a strong Dom/sub element in this story with some bondage and a lot of hitting, which is just the right amount of pleasure and pain for James and Sawyer to feel complete and free. It is a shock to them both when the masks come off and each man deals with it in his own way. Thankfully their love wins out and they finally get their HEA. - there were quite a few errors in the ARC that will hopefully be fixed in the final edit.

This is a story in which two men, a Dom and a sub, lose their way. Six years later, their bond is rekindled during a Masquerade...but it isn't until their true identities are revealed, that the past can fully be explained and trust built.
Sweet. Sexy. Painful. Honest. Eye opening. A BDSM tale with consensual practices throughout.
This is a wonderful addition to the Worthington, Texas series. So many questions are answered in this story. You definitely would benefit from reading the series in order. It is wonderful to see relationships deepen as the number of books expand.

An emotional roller coaster of thoughts and actions of James and Sawyer, exes who haven’t gotten over each other. Sawyer, much younger than James had a low self-esteem that caused him to sever his ties with James based on a lie. James, one who doesn’t forgive, has been verbally vicious with Sawyer every time he sees him. The two somehow find each other, unknowingly and form a sexual relationship, behind masks, that make them want to take it to another level and reveal themselves in order to do so. It still takes an intervention to get them together to find their HEA.
This is a new to me series, and it looks like I have missed a lot of them. Good thing I can go back and read the rest of the series. I really enjoyed this book with Sawyer and James. This is a second chance book that was highly entertaining.
The sexiness was off the charts! Super strong characters that I really enjoyed. Awesome descriptions to details and engaging dialogue.
Written as a first person, multi pov with a HEA.

This is a great story of second chances. Sawyer and James six years after their relationship ends come together again unwittingly at a BDSM club. Can James forgive Sawyer not trusting him all those years ago and can Sawyer win James' trust to reach their HEA. This story is a fast read that keeps you hooked to the end. The end also gives you a peek at what I hope is the next book in the series Wyatt and Vance's story.

James and Sawyer were in love but six years ago. Sawyer thought James cheated on him with his best friend. Now a days they mostly ignore each other. Sawyer's friend talk him into going to a masquerade party at a BDSM club called The Black Room. He meets a dom there but when the night is over he doesn't know who the dom is because they kept their masks on. All Sawyer knows is there's a connection between them. I enjoyed the story and the characters.
Wow these two are so hateful of each other or atleast James is and rightfully so being accused of something he didnt do and not being heard when try to explain. The Blackroom where secrets are kept and these two are able to let their sexual emotions rum ramped without any blow back only how many Fridays can be spent there hiding behind a mask before curiosity gets the better of them. Loved this book another great addition to the series and cam wait for the next.
This one is a bit hard to rate. Whilst I loved the premise of the story, overall it needed a bit of editing and a bit more structure so I could keep track of who is who and who did what. I think it would be easier to follow this book if you had read others in the series beforehand. That said I really enjoyed the story and the buildup of James and Sawyer’s relationship rekindling. A good read.
James and Sawyer had a great relationship 6 years ago but Sawyer accused James of cheating on him without any proof so they split up. 6 years later both decide to move on with their lives and both end up going to a Masquerade party at the BDSM club that James used to always go to before he met Sawyer. Sawyer and James feel a pull towards each other but what happens when the masks come off?. Fantastic story I loved it and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
I loved this book - the characters, the theme, the connection - just everything. This is an A++ read. I loved the way James and Sawyer clicked, even when they didn't know who they were with. The anonymity allowed them to connect without the baggage, anger, and regrets from the past, and just start fresh and learn to love and trust each other again.

A wonderful second chance romance. It’s not often you get a second chance at a first time. This love/hate steamy relationship is a must read. The chemistry just smacks the reader in the face. I can’t say enough good about this book. Just buy it and see what I mean.

Fun story! Good to get Sawyer & James' story. Interesting non-courtship. The characters were fleshed out. These guys are absolutely likeable! Their friends are way too much fun and extremely supportive. We all should have a support system like these guys. Well done Mr Styles! This is a wonderful series. I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
