"The Britons" is supposed to be a deconstruction of the early inhabitants' identity in order to examine their origins and legacy. Snyder feels that scholars have not fully addressed the contributions of the Britons to their descendants and this book is meant to fill that gap. I was somewhat disappointed as he does not cover much that is new and sometimes contradicts himself. Overall it is a good overview of the subject for an intermediate student of the era, but for a scholar it does not have enough depth to satisfy the thesis he proposes and does not fully address.

A comprehensive history of the actual "Britons" i.e. Brythonic speaking peoples.

Interesting, but unfortunately snider is a partisan Anglo-Saxon.
