Cheers to the best group of friends a woman could ask for. Cheers to small apartments and even smaller...paychecks. Cheers to a broken heart and healing it one Manhattan at a time. Cheers to Happy Hour!

Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Hope Mazzola is a Florida native now happily rooted in North Carolina with her loving husband and two lazy basset hounds. After several years away from publishing, she has returned to the romance world with a renewed passion for storytelling and a bold, reimagined vision for her Shots on Goal universe. She writes every flavor of contemporary romance— from steamy rom-coms to gritty biker tales to emotional, heart-thumping sports love stories.
The Happy Hour series by Kristen Hope Mazzola follows a group of girlfriends, who at first glance don’t really have all that much in common: Sawyer is a Southern Belle with a bohemian side, Harper the self-sufficient lawyer, and Caroline, the nurturing one and not surprisingly a first-grade teacher. Then there’s Annabelle, the only one of the bunch who had been married…and widowed. Annabelle lost her husband unexpectedly and has no desire to get back into the dating scene in spite of her friends urging her in that direction. When she quite literally bumps into Waylon meeting the girls for Happy Hour, dating is the last thing on her mind.
I really enjoyed this story and really wish it was longer. In the end it definitely gave us closure and I loved how it was told, but these characters were so much fun that I would've loved to have read more. Annabelle found her happily ever after, but lost it way too soon. She's an amazing woman who is really strong. She still has a great bond with her stepdaughter and loves teaching. Waylon is a surprise she wasn't expecting, but he's the perfect book boyfriend. He's sweet, loyal and doesn't give up. Waylon knows he can't go fast, but doesn't give up. I would've loved a stroy from his POV, but this story definitely left a smile on my face.
Since the passing of her husband Annabelle has moved on with her life. She has a great group of friends, a stepdaughter she loves and her horses. The last thing she expected on a night out with the girls was to meet a man who raised feelings in her that she thought were gone forever.
Waylon has recently purchased the pub in town and from the moment he meets Annabelle he is drawn to her. He knows that they are meant to be and will be patient but determined until she realizes it as well.
This is a low drama and angst story about two people who are perfect for each other.
Kristen is one of my GO TO's.. She is absolutely amazing... This is the first in a new series - The Happy Hour Series. It focus's around 4 BFF's .. Annabelle, Sawyer, Harper and Caroline. (these ladies are a hoot..) This is the story of Annabelle and Waylon.. Annabelle is not looking for love... because lets face it... she lost the love of her life... how can she move on and love another.. when her heart shattered when her husband died? Waylon is a very persistent man.. He gets what he wants.. and he wants a chance with Annabelle.. Will Waylon mend Annabelle's heart? Will Annabelle find room in her heart?
Manhattan is a sweet as pie, quick, and delightful read! Annie has lost a lot but Kristen Hope Mazzola shows us that we can find true love more than once in our lives!
Waylon is such a gentleman, he knows what he wants and he goes for it. Annie has lost so much but she still finds it in herself to give into the temptation that is Waylon.
I adored Annie and Waylon's story! Kristen Hope Mazzola sure knows how to give you a quick love story that leaves you breathless and happy!
Manhattan is a novella that is a part of the happy hour series. This story is short, fast paced and a nice read. I read this book within half an hour and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters loveable and the storyline enjoyable. I really liked the little snippet/memory we got of Annabelle with her late husband (Frederick). The scene where she got her first horse was so sweet. Although he had wasn’t around anymore and wasn’t the hero in this story, it was nice to see what they were like together. I was happy that Annabelle got a second chance at love but my heart ached for the man she had loved and lost. The chemistry between Annabelle and Waylon was clear to see and I liked them as a couple. I liked that Waylon never gave up. I liked that Annabelle gave love another go. I really liked how close Annabelle was with her stepdaughter Ellis. I loved their bond and I liked how accepting Ellis was of Annabelle’s new relationship. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is a nice read.
Manhattan by Kristen Hope Mazzola is book one in her brandnew The Happy Hour Series and part of the I Ain't Your Mama Collection. It's a standalone rom/com in the series and tells the stories of a group of best friends, Annabelle, Sawyer, Harper and Caroline. Annabelle is a 30 year old woman, widowed and works with horses. She's still grieving about her dead husband. But life goes on and when she meets a cute bartender she takes a second look. And surprise when an old friend brings his nephew with him, tada there's Waylon again. Their chemistry is sky high and he's a real good guy. The writing is great and I loved the storyline, what's not to loving ín horses/ love story - just saying. Manhattan is a novella, aka quick read. I give 4 beautiful stars for a beautiful story.
Part of the I Ain’t You Mama anthology, this is a quick entertaining read. Annabelle is such a strong woman. Widowed at a very young age and left with a stepdaughter to raise, she decides to forego men and live vicariously through her best friends. That is until Waylon stops her in her tracks and sets her heart a beating. She brushes him off, just like she’s done to others in the past, but he continues to try to break down the castle she’s built around her heart. I absolutely fell in love with this story. I loved the characters, the writing, and the storyline. I can’t wait to read more about these wonderful women and the men who finally snares them. I just wish I had friends like these ladies.
This is the introduction to a new series by Kristen. I can tell you I'm already hooked! This is a fast read that can be read in one sitting. The characters pull you right into the book. The characters had chemistry and you could feel the connection easily. I really liked Annabelle right off the bat. You could feel her sadness as she lives day to day, but one trip falling into the arms of new man may put her on the course of her new future. Waylon has many swoon worthy moments. He's definitely a romantic anyone woman would love yo have in her life. I can't wait for more from the series.
I love Kristen’s books the way I get pulled into the story to the point I don’t want to put it down, Manhattan was no different! Annabelle feels cheated after only getting a short time with her husband and being widowed for a few years isn’t ready to let him go. Swoon worthy Waylon is persistent in trying to get Annabelle to go out with him not knowing her story. Love that Annabelle is an Equestrian Studies teacher and her horse Hunter is very tuned in with her as well as a great judge of character. Must read!!
Waylon seriously stole my heart during the dinner date. SWOON! I really was sucked into this story and enjoyed reading about Annabelle and Waylon, but was kinda disappointed in the seemingly rushed ending. It felt like I was just getting to know these characters as they were getting to know each other and then boom... epilogue. That would honestly be my only complaint. I wanted more of these characters. This book did not give me enough of them.
This is a quick fun novella series about four BBF's and their search or not search for love and while it's short, it is very well written and makes you feel good reading them. This one is Annabelle and Waylon. Annabelle isn't looking for love at all. It hasn't been on her radar for yeas since her husband passed away. Annabelle literally falls into Waylon's arms and is quite literally swept off her feet. He even gets the approval of her loyal horse, Hunter.
Annabelle and her friends hit the local bar each week for fun and cocktails. When the handsome bartender asks her out she declines. Waylon is new to town and Annabelle has caught his eye. He makes her the perfect Manhattan and now wants her heart. Can he get her to break down her walls?
The quick read romance was fun, sweet and emotionally moving. I really liked Annabelle and Waylon and I thought they were perfect together. Their chemistry was smoky and the pull of attraction undeniable. The storyline was engaging and it was super easy to connect with these characters. I am posting a candid, voluntary review.
Annie isn't looking for love again. Waylon is new in town and Annie just seems to click with him. Will his persistence in pursuing her pay off? It doesn't hurt that he is hot and can cook and has the approval of Annie's friends. When you know, you know.
This is the first book by this author that I’ve read. A second chance romance short story. A sweet story about having the chance at love again. A great afternoon read when you want something romantic and happy. I will definitely be reading more from this author.
Annie and Waylon"s story was absolutely perfect. Annie is a widow. Out with the girls one night, she trips and Waylon was there to save the day. The rest is history. Fantastic sweet but short read.
Annie isn't looking for love again. Waylon is new in town and Annie just seems to click with him. Will his persistence in pursuing her pay off? It doesn't hurt that he is hot and can cook and has the approval of Annie's friends. When you know, you know."
This work was superb. Kristen weaves such a great story about Annie and Waylon. She is afraid to love but but Waylon shows her what a good guy he is and doesn't give up. The ending is perfect because after their wedding they go to her favorite horse's stall.
This book was so heartfelt & sweet! I loved that Waylon just instinctively knew that he had to be gentle with Annie. He was the perfect man for her! And I love that Annie’s friends & stepdaughter were so encouraging for her. Loved it!
A great quick and quick read. Annie has been grieving for a while and then Waylon comes along and pulls her out of her funk, but he has to really work for it. Great read.
