1757 is the next breathtaking installment of Jason Born’s popular Long Fuse series. The fate of empire rests in the flawed hearts of men as the French and Indian War rages. Cultures and concepts of honor collide on ice-packed battlefields and in the virgin forests of North America. Ephraim Weber is in chains following the humiliating defeat and bloody massacre at Fort Oswego. But his wilderness skills have caught the attention of important men who wish for him to employ his talents for the good of the crown. Soon out of one jail cell and into another of a different variety, Weber finds himself braving frigid winter weather on a bold mission to thwart the French war effort. For naught, their brave attack does nothing but inspire the French to send out their own version which will suffer its own losses, but cripple the British war effort in the process. As Colonel Monro battles to bolster dwindling numbers of men as well as against incompetent superior officers, he and Weber join forces to valiantly defend the farthest British outpost left standing. The unbridled disgrace that follows will go down in history. A rousing tale of war, 1757 is filled with adventure and woe. It is chock full of explosive personalities that lead to instances of triumph and failure. Amidst the death and destruction, seeds of division are sown among fellow countrymen that will one day result in the blooming of a new, great nation.

Jason Born is a popular historical novelist of many series as well as stand-alone titles. His latest work, On Love & War, is an epic tale of devotion and pain in Napoleonic Europe. The Long Fuse is an ongoing series that thrillingly captures the violent period of America’s rise from ragtag colonies to independence. He is the author three other gritty series of works spanning time and place. Lions & Devils vividly describes the heroes and villains of the monstrous Islamic assault of Western Europe during the Eighth Century. The Norseman Chronicles center on the faithful Viking, Halldorr, who desired peace, but found only war in the Old and New Worlds. The Wald Chronicles describe the rugged conflict and improbable outcome in Germania during the wars between Rome and her tribal adversaries over 2,000 years ago. League of the Lost Fountain is his first work for kids of all ages. Jason lives in the Midwest with his wife and three children.

French and Indian War buffs

Great read, and very instructive to what would take place in less than 20 years . This yarn has it all ,humor, savage battle scenes, history lessons, heroism ,cowardice, ruthless cruelty, unspeakable horrors, and all of it a true rendering of life on the edge of the frontier, and the individuals who forged our beginnings.

Great read and great series

An interesting and informative read about a period of American history that I had never known much about. The rough and rugged conditions of life in the early American frontier makes one appreciate the fortitude and determination of the brave souls who faced the challenges of every day life.

Another great story

I never knew much about the French and Indian War. It was a frightful time in our history. The author does a magnificent job of describing the horrors of the time without feeling on the gory details. Very captivating.

Excellent Series Continues

This is one of my favorite historical periods, and the author is excellent in his treatment. The protagonist is well imagined, and along with a diverse group of supporting characters, is quite endearing. I look forward to the next installment.

Education and Riveting

This is the best of the series. Need for it to end. I have learned more about the French Indian war from these books than in school. And much more exciting

Another fun roller coaster of a book. It's just fascinating walking through these places, battles, and lives with Ephraim. It has its ups and downs, not only for history, but for Ephraim personally. He makes me laugh, he makes me angry, I want to hug him and help him... But, thankful I don't have to be there with him in many of the instances! Glad he walked there for me and brought me his awesome story!
If you're a historical fiction lover, or just want a fun way to learn about things that are important to how our nation started...or just want a good story, these books are for you!
