I enjoyed this read and it got easier as I kept learning Spanish in class. We did quite a bit of work to accompany this read, some of which were the activities in the book following each chapter. The length of the chapters was very nice. The story was cute and some aspects were relatable as a student. However, I was immediately put off by the costumes at the party at the beginning. Two Spanish men dressed as Egyptians? An Italian girl dressed as an Arabic princess? I feel like that doesn’t pass so well in this day and age. Pushing past that, I was left a little confused at the end by the roundup of suspects for the murder. The reveal was not particularly thrilling, but the implication of some characters was interesting. This was a good way to learn but it was not the greatest book out there.
