“She’s beautiful. But she doesn’t care for me. If anything, she hates me. I watch her as she fidgets under my gaze, biting her plump lips. Those lips. I can’t decide if I should nibble on them or simply yell at her for frustrating me so thoroughly.”
Almost a thousand years have passed since King Altair of the Fae kingdom Alnembra was cursed by Maaz, a Bloodbane witch. A beast by day and a Fae man by night, Altair is desperate to find the Key. Now, the curse has almost run its course, but not before he discovers the existence of a woman who could break the curse and save him and his people.
Verity Chastain lives a normal life in New York City. On her wedding day, a beast swoops down from the sky to carry her into a world of fantasy and magic. Disbelieving and stubborn, Verity struggles to accept her new reality.
She and Altair go head to head in this fantasy-fueled romance. Can she find a way to break his curse? Or will he die as the physical manifestation of his sadistic personality; a beast?
STOLEN BY THE FAE KING is the first book in the MATED TO THE FAE KING SERIES by author Bailey Dark. This is a Fae Romance for Adults.
Bailey Dark is obsessed with all things dark, hot, and supernatural.
From Fae to Aliens, her heroes are thoroughly alpha and pure raw masculinity. When she's not writing (which is hardly ever) she's busy watching every movie in the marvel universe, or binging supernatural on her couch.
Not a bad short read. Good if you've just come out of a long heavy read. Verity is kidnapped on her wedding day by a monstrous creature who turns out to be a fae king under a curse and thinks Verity is the key to end the curse.
After a long reading slump I finally finished a book I started and actually enjoyed it. It was a great short read and it was also full of sexual tention. The fact that I am giving it 2.5 stars is because the story hadn’t dived very deeply into anything. It was very surface like and didn’t really have any character development, story development and relationship development. It simply felt flat.
Even as I enjoyed a bit of the banter going on between the two characters, or the fact that we are introduced to two sides of the male lead, it didn’t really show us much as it told us about things that were happening. I am unsure wether it was my fault for not paying attention, but there were moments in the story that were poorly described to the point where I was confused.
I am also disappointed that even as we got to read from both of the characters’ point of view, we really didn’t get to feel what they felt or what they experienced.
Even as it looks like I am only criticizing the book, I really did enjoy it and it was really good for a short book.
Very poor writing and utterly predictable. Glorified Beauty and the Beast, down to the damsel being obsessed with the library and a sick dad. Don't waste your time.
Classic captive/captor enemies to livers fantasy romance where H is a fae king who had been cursed after he refused to marry a powerful witch and believes h is the one who will break that curse. Our heroine is about to get married to a guy who is going to help her parents financially and she gets kidnapped by H before she steps to get married. H sort of plucks her like a bird before she gets married.
Later on, h discoveres she is sort of a witch who is also a cursebreaker and decides to help him. There is some tension between them but it isn't properly explored and too fast paced you don't get to enjoy it in this book. You can't even say it is insta lovey bc after a couple of days or three days, he asked her do I make you happy? Are you happy with me? Like excuse me ?!!!
H acts possessive and is jealous off the beat, he follows a soldier who had been chatting with h and threatens him off lmao.
Navi was on the verge of creating a love triangle by confessing to the fae king, it came out of damn no fucking where?!!!
There is a spy in his kingdom yada yada yada. He starts doubting h and whatever. h starts making potions but we want to know how she learned, we want to know the process, what's the logic but we get none of that. There is nooooo WB or system whatsoever. We know there is a fae king, there is a kingdom, there is a captain of the guard, there are soldiers and there are witches. The non existence of WB makes the plot a bit lackluster.
There is a plot, you feel like there is one with the whole witch will destroy us we gotta stop her, that's not the issue, the issue is the characters are very one dimensional and they lack any .....I wouldn't say depth, it is more convenient to say they lacked character.
It had potential. Still gonna read the next book, see if it gets better.
4.5 stars. I think this book was pretty good. There were quite a few grammar errors as well as name error. There was a point in time where Altair called Verity by a different name. I was also annoyed because the entire time Verity was in Alnembra she couldn't figure out how to break the spell, this makes sense considering how specific it had to be. But right at the end, the witch says something along the lines of "time to die" and suddenly Verity knows exactly what she needs to do to save Altair's kingdom(had nothing to do with time or dying by the way). It just seemed weird and misplaced like the author realized that the book needed to come to an end, but didn't have a way to have Verity naturally reach the right conclusion.

Pretty cute. It definitely reminded me of Beauty and the Beast but in a Fae realm. Now that the first part of the drama is over, book 2 seems promising. I’m excited for a good escape from reality with this series.
In general, the writing wasn’t great but certainly not bad. I wish Altair’s affection for Verity was built more. Instead, it felt a little forced because she was the key to breaking the curse.
Technically, there was no “adult loving” but the growing chemistry between them is teasing future action. More world building is warranted too in the next book.
Overall, this was a pretty simple book but entertaining. The ending offers both a conclusion and a teaser for more.
I loved this book. It’s just my favorite kind of story and a gender that I really like and this story has everything to make it enjoyable.
It have several funny moments with our heroine taken away from the real world all of a sudden and wake up in a Fae Land. Monsters, witches, magic, sacrifices, fights, secrets and a deep attraction between our main characters.
Altair and Verity have great chemistry and the slow burn is fantastic. So well developed. I totally recommend this book if you like a good Fae romance stories.
Good writing and a great story line that kept me up way too late reading. Beauty and the beast in faerie terms kind of works. A bit of a cliff hanger that will lead into the next in the series but for the most part this ends one mystery but leaves you curious as to what happens next. Interesting enough to keep me reading and looking out for the next book. Happy reading
Not a standalone, which was a shame. I do not get why she went back to confront her fiance, i mean i do get why but.... why did she not see her parents who she claims to love very much? Also how did she get back though the portal? Does not explain this in the book. If you love beauty and the beast than this is another version of it. I would read the next in the series just to find out what will happen, but i never do as i tend to forget.
This first installment was a great start to the series. A curse that could end a kingdom. And a mortal that has to figure out how to save it.
The two main characters Verity and Altair played off each other very nicely. The heat between them and Verity’s hesitancy kept this storyline flowing nicely.
The story itself leant a little to the backstory and a glimpse of what may come. I can’t wait to start the next one!
The cursed Fae King and the stolen human. Will she figure out how to save the kingdom in time.? This is the story of Altair and Verity. I enjoyed the getting to know. It 's clear that feelings were developed, but never really acted on. This ended with a cliff hanger. Bummer! I look forward to the next book.
I picked this up because I wanted a fast read sitting at the car dealership and this was surprisingly entertaining. I didn't even hear them call my name that my car was ready. The story was a beauty and the beast retelling that had a lot of character development and world building for such a short book. It does end on a cliffhanger so now I have to go find out what happens lol.
I enjoyed this book. It was a great story and I recommend it. I didn't give it 5stars because there are a lot of editing issues. I expect mistakes I understand that no one is perfect and there are going to be mistakes but there were to many for me to give 5stars. It's not going to stop me from reading the whole series. If you enjoy fantasy it's a great book to read.
I won't lie I found this version of beauty and the beast meets swan princess (but it's a king, not a princess) more amusing than most. I chuckled at their interactions when he was the beast. He acted like a total tool in his fae form though. And she was super brave for someone that was brought from the regular world to the fae one. though I have to say what did she tell her family?!
This is just the first part of the complete story between same two characters. So far or is sweet but not a fan of how this book ends. Cliff hangers aren't my favorite.
Fae books r not my thing but if I wanted to finish a reading Challenge this year, I needed to read a book that had a Fae. I’m no prude but this book was 90% graphic sex scenes and 10% story. It might have been a much better book if it was more even.
I'm really loving this series and it is just book.one! I love this curse and falling for someone and don't actually declare anything. So much power and greatness in this loved iy
I thought this was a good start to this series. I like how Verity has to learn about the Fae Kong’s world and how to break the curse. It is not an instant fix. I am interested to see how this unfolds.
I really loved the story but was so disappointed in all the mistakes in the printing of it. Someone really needed to proof read this book. But the story line is fantastic. This author is very talented.
This series makes me think of Lilly Archers series Fae Captive series. Verity is kidnapped from the mortal world by a Fae king. There is a curse on the King. Verity is the key to breaking said curse.
