I hate writing reviews but I feel I owe it to the author for his time writing the series that I enjoyed greatly. This series was one of the best I have read. This is one of those series that takes off fast and keeps you glued to the pages to the end. I will read everything this author writes from here on out!
Epic fantasy can be a trap for some authors, where the story has no logical conclusion. The Benjamin Ashwood series is the opposite. I vacationed in these stories while in countless airports and hotel rooms.
Like the first three books, these rattled along with the action pacy and characters growing. Plot lines were nice and simple but with enough around them to not be shallow. I’ll look forward to reading his next series of books.
This book had been on my to read list for a year. I finally decided to give it a try. I am glad I did Benjamin Ashwood kept me I interested through all his adventures. I was enthralled throughout the series. I recommend it.
Good Series, Good Read, A Don't Want To Put It Down Set
Another writer to add to my follow list which is very selective. Well written, in-depth characters and remarkable insight on what drives mankind to war and peace. On to his next book - Quill.
It was hard at times in even the first two books to accept the enemies were always superior and yet somehow our dipwit, inbred, moronic hero goodie murdering, beer guzzling punk of lowlivesville, boonsburg our mr misfit could trip and stumble his way to victory as he whined and sniveled I dun wants ta be a leader. Every time he trips, falls and screws up??? Why??
This as every time some super duper master blaster comes along who would save the day. A serious hint here and warning. Every time against superior odds he demanded the other answer his questions yet he always refused to answer theirs.. Every time against superior foes?? Ask me with indeed mr inbred farm boy they simply would have taken his head and played the origins of football with his head!
Unrealistic, words drag on n on n on n on. You get the point. Book one was enough to interest me. Book two wavered but I held on. Book three began the same scenario that would be found thence forth . Super superior baddies, no major progression only duet de do. Super duper master blaster hero comes along to save the day.
Give me a break! Then watch as every single time the file it trips, falls and stumbled his way to victory. Oh I get it now his is my magoo!
I knew the story sounded familiar in my head. We've all been there, huh, I've read something like this. Hmmmm. Well I have seizures, they knock out some books, some songs, some people and times. I'm afraid Ashwood went down in dust to one of them. Something kept itching my mind the entire time I was reading until I got to the fourth book. I realized that's where I was when I had a seizure, and I didn't pick it back up because that's where the books were in being released. All this time I'd only read the four. It really made the last two exciting and new. I really love how the author explains the fights. Alot of times I just can't picture them. A.C.Cobble has a great sense of sword play.
Amazing series, though I was saddened Ben had to grow up. You follow a starry eyed boy into a well developed and complex world of magic, politics, and heroics. It's fun for almost the entire series though his coming of age is a little too quick for my liking at the end and I would have enjoyed a little more development there in another book or 2.
If you like underdog stories, with a little romance woven in that reminds you of your first love in high school with an almost Tolkein like world this is a good book to read.
Benjamin Ashwood had the potential to be a great series, but in an attempt to make it other than “another Chosen One tale” Cobble missed the mark on giving it the character growth arc and resolution it deserved. What happened to the special insight shown in the demon battle? It disappeared when Ben needed it to face the blade masters. There were so many inconsistencies in this series and that disappointed me more than anything. The potential was there...but unmet.
These books are fast paced, always rooting for the heros! A good read, if interested in the fantasy realm. Highly recommended if a fantasy lover like myself. Do need to start with the 1st book though, it is a slower paced book...you start to think why do I need all these characters. But it will pay off in the 2nd through 6th books. Keep writing A.C. Cobble, I will keep reading and recommendations will follow. Thank you for putting your imagination on paper!
Very Wordy and rehashing of what was said in previous conversations and that took up so much space. I found myself skipping over paragraphs and pages and not losing track of the story. However, the message is good and the adventure is good. I read it to the end, I just wouldn’t pick this up again or recommend it.
I read the entire series in two weeks and couldn’t get enough. I enjoyed the characters, they were well developed and believable. The story line was well thought out. The action was none stop and it was a fantastic read. I would recommend this series to anyone who loves sword and sorcery.
Great story great characters couldn’t put it down. I hope someday to see this in a movie. I had read the cartographer book 1st and wanted to continue reading his other works and happy I did
A wonderfully crafted story filled with insights into what it means to be human. The characters are well crafted by Mr Cobble. I found that I could not put the series down once I started.
I read the entire series. Unlike many I have read, all books kept me interested. I can’t tell you the number of other series I have read and just abandoned after the 2nd book. Not these though; they were the right length to tell the full story. Thanks.
What an awesome series. Action, adventure, magic, humor, love and friendship throughout the entire series. This is has everything you could ever want in a fantasy series
