Contains: Graphs, patterns, geometry, symmetry, probability,
Hands On Math: Boy Bees, Nature's Pattern, Tessellation, Snowflakes in Two Dimensions, Data Tracker, Weather Trackers.
Cross Curricular - I could use the Tools of Weather section while they are learning about it in science.
This is a good book about how you can find math in nature. It has many different aspects of nature from bees, to crystals, to weather. This is a good cross curricular book that can be used in both science and math.
I would break this book into parts. As groups, they could work on different sections (according to the skill we are learning at the time) and do the hands on math project at the end of the section. I could do this during whole group or workshop.
