Carson McDermott does what he damn well pleases. As the eldest son of one of the wealthiest families in New Orleans, he did his time in college and law school, and now he placates his family by keeping a day job as a contract attorney. By night, however, he’s gunning for the title of the city’s most eligible bachelor and samples the finest women his city has to offer—including the beautiful blonde at the bar next to him one particular evening, who seems to be in a really foul mood. And Carson knows just the way to cheer her up.
Sabrina Deneau is head over heels in love with her best friend, Max. She has been forever. The fact that he’s married is totally inconsequential. The fact that he lives in her hometown of New Orleans and she lives in California also doesn’t matter. The stars seem to align when she takes a job back home just as Max announces that he’s separating from his wife. Her destiny is unfolding, and Sabrina is about to get exactly what she’s always hoped for.
But when Max repeatedly blows her off in favor of his soon-to-be ex-wife, Sabrina decides it’s time to show him what he’s missing out on. And the sexy stranger attempting to coax her out of her bad mood at a bar one evening is the perfect place to start.
After a mind-blowing one-night-stand, Sabrina is in much better spirits and opts to join her brother and his friends at a dinner in their old neighborhood the following evening—only to discover that one of his friends is Carson.
Sabrina and Carson agree there can’t be a repeat of the one night they had together, but she’s still got his phone number… and he’s still got hers. She’s still stuck on making Max jealous. And Carson can’t seem to tell his best friend’s hot-as-hell baby sister no—even though he knows it might literally get him killed if anyone finds out.
Just as Max finally gets his act together, the sudden death of someone close to both her and Carson causes Sabrina to second-guess everything she ever thought she wanted.
The man she’s always longed for.
The man inexplicably intertwined with her life who has begun to light her soul on fire.
Sabrina has to choose. And no matter what choice she makes, somebody’s going to get hurt.

A Secret Sweet Love Affair. A very entertaining book about a secret booty arrangement turning into a deep all consuming love affair between Sabrina and Carson. They move in the same circle, her brother is Carson's long-time close friend. Their lives are intertwined with their families and friends in an organic manner, being part of each other's personal and professional lives. His womanizing ways are well known and under the circumstances secrecy regarding their relationship seemed the best option. The plot is an interesting one and the characters have an easy and fond rapport with one another. The characters were very well described and developed, although in some scenes there were rather a lot of them which made me confused about who was who. After a month, Carson decides to end the liaison but bumping into her time and time again made it impossible to move on. A couple of month later Sabrina reaches out to Carson and they finally stop fighting their feelings for one another. Sabrina truly tamed this naughty boy. There is a lot of heat amongst our love birds and their encounters although sexy but not crude. They are true soul-mates. It was interesting to read about New Orleans, it is the first novel I read that was set there. We are rewarded with a HEA and also given a real twist to this story which will form the basis of another novel. that will deal with the lives of some of the characters from this book. Can't give you spoilers though. I recommend you read this book, it is very enjoyable.

I have read 4-5-6 of this series and each one has been better than the last, can't wait for 7 the last. I will have to read 1-2-3 until then. I love the sense of family that these friends have built, with family intertwined. I love the strong ties to NOLA it includes, I lived in Baton Rouge and the flavor of Louisiana come through loud and proud. The few people I have met from NOLA expressed the same feeling as Sabrina about it, and the strong jazz culture. The music is so important. The dedication to helping women recover from sexual abuse is strong but low key in this book. I loved the interaction between Sabrina and Carson, as they find their way.

The book is awesome. It has romance, action, secrets and emotions. The characters are great. Some parts make you want to go into the book and tell people to get there act right. Sabrina poor thing is just being fed all type of stuff from Max. Brennan is an emotional wreck with his personal issues. Together they make one hell of a great book. Can't wait to see what happens in the rest of the series.

This is Book 6 of the Romance in New Orleans Series and can be read as a standalone. It is my first read by this author, and let me just say that I am pleasantly surprised. I quite enjoyed the storyline, the characters and the author's writing style. It is a captivating romance between Sabrina and her brother's best friend, Carson. These very different characters are likable, their chemistry combustible, and the unique plot makes for an interesting read. What starts out as a one night stand becomes so much more. It is a love story with sexual tension and sizzling chemistry, drama and angst, plus engaging secondary characters. Overall, it is an easy read with almost the perfect amount of everything - steam, intrigue, and a happy ending. A great addition to the series.

A book that delves into family and friends’ relationships, whilst following one couple in detail. Found that many actions from the past were mentioned several times, sometimes it felt it was just padding the book out. But on the whole I enjoyed the book.

I have read all the books in this series and found each one better than the last. Not as harrowing as some of the others but it contains a nice mix of romance, action and intrigue. There are times when you want to knock peoples heads together even though you are sure things will work out. I loved Carson and Sabrina from the start and I always enjoy reading more about the characters in the previous books. I'm ready for the next now.

I was very impressed with how simply and effortlessly this author told this addicting, multi-layered story with well-developed world building and great characters and still manage to make romance feel so fresh!
The chemistry, sweetness, and twists in plot kept things interesting. Add in a wee bit of drama and you have a good read.
